Seated in Laura Lees’s rear garden surrounded by fireflies we enjoyed a magical dining experience. Very dry gin martinis accompanied by fried oysters, pasta bolognese jumbo crab cakes made the experience. An unpretentious Forest Park gem not to be missed.

Pros: Nice ambiance, beautiful presentation, interesting cocktails, the Plate appetizer was really great (especially the pickled carrots and fish dip), service was just the right level of attentiveness. Cons: My $38 steak was chewy and a bit dry (homemade A-1 was good). Cornbread appetizer was great texture but flavorless. Semicircular seats were not very comfortable or conducive to conversation. Overall, at the prices I paid I just wasn't blown away by anything I ate. Bummer because the service, presentation and atmosphere were enjoyable. I'd consider coming back for lunch or drinks, but I'd probably skip dinner.

The food was super fresh and delicious! I definitely recommend the burger and the steak and eggs. Service was a little slow, but I will definitely be back!

This place is great. It was recommended by several people, so I went and checked it out. The food is fantastic. And I love the atmosphere! This is the perfect place to go when we have nice weather. They have a great day back patio. They also roll the doors up in the dining room. The crab cakes, the fried oysters. We're amazing. I also heard from a co worker that the scallops were awesome. My wife got a pasta dish and said it was one of the best meals, she's had in a long time. Drinks were great to. A few coworkers have also told me: they really enjoy going here for brunch.

I recently had a fantastic girls' dinner at Laura Lee's and I can't recommend it enough. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and vibrant yet relaxed—perfect for a night out with friends. The bar area is great for pre-dinner drinks, and the separate dining area offers a cozy, more intimate feel. The service was impeccable. Our server was friendly, attentive, and really helped guide us through the menu, which made the whole experience even better. Speaking of drinks, their cocktail and mocktail menu is definitely worth trying. We all enjoyed a few rounds of both, and everything was fresh and expertly made—definitely some of the best we've had in Richmond. As for the food, we kicked things off with the mussels, and they were absolutely delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the crispy bread on the side was the perfect touch for soaking up every bit of it. Everything we had was fresh and perfectly prepared. Overall, Laura Lee's is a must-visit for a relaxed, stylish night out. Between the service, drinks, and food, it’s clear they’ve nailed the balance of great ambiance and quality dining. Can’t wait to go back!

Laura Lee’s is one of our favorite spots in Richmond. My husband and I love coming here to enjoy a cocktail at the bar or to have a relaxing dinner out away from the kids. The service is always outstanding - consistently warm, attentive, and professional. I have a couple of food allergies, and the staff goes above and beyond to make sure everything I order, including drinks, is safe. The food and atmosphere are both wonderful. Highly recommend for a special night out or even just a casual evening with excellent food and hospitality.

Google
Cute place but it’s a bit out of nowhere. It was quiet when we went at a weeknight. Only two tables were dining there. The service is great, the waiter is very patient and friendly. The food is good but not great. I had the seared scallops, the scallops are big but I don’t get why it sits on the bowl of soup, and the soup is also too salty. I might come back to try other dishes, the menu looks pretty interesting.

Wow!! I’ve been in Richmond for years but tonight was my first time at Laura Lee’s and it certainly lives up to the hype! Fantastic food, great ambiance, excellent service. Ryan was our server and was excellent and attentive. Breaking down what I got to try: - Milk bread: Oh my god I think they literally took this bread right from the oven to serve. It was so warm and so fluffy in the inside. It was paired with some of the best butter. Definitely getting again. - Broccolini: Wow! They had this sauce pairing that was very flavorful to go with the dish. Also would get again. - Scallops: Sooo good and the creamed corn was also to die for. - Lamb: Only had a bite because this was my friend’s dish but very good! - Peanut butter pie: Can’t go wrong and was the perfect end to the meal. The only complaint is I don’t know why I haven’t been here all this time? Everything tasted so amazing and the service was also great. It’s good for big groups too as I saw a table with 6+ people, just make the reservation! Very cute outdoor seating as well. I would most definitely go back. Pricing is also reasonable. So delicious and can’t wait to go back!

Yelp
If you haven't been... Go. There's a reason that the restaurants in this little family (Garnett's, the Roosevelt) pop up on so many Best Of lists, and this pretty little spot is no exception. A soothing little oasis in the midst of concrete and traffic, I love stepping inside and just taking a deep breath and relaxing. I've been going here for years, now. Brunch with friends, mom's birthday, dinner with grandma, the occasional date- they have food to accommodate various plates and allergies, and drinks to match. The barkeep doesn't shy away from having fun, and makes excellent non-alcoholic options as well. When it's busy carpooling can be a good idea since parking isn't exactly plentiful, but it's absolutely worth it.

Yelp
This was my first time at Laura Lee's. We came on a weeknight and had a reservation for 5 people. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice and inviting. I had pretty high expectations given this restaurants reputation. I got the double cheeseburger. Size wise it was great and had plenty of protein. Flavor wise it was a bit lackluster. The burger wasn't very juicy and it didn't seem to be seasoned much. It came with kimchi mayo on it, but it was still pretty dry. I ordered my burger "with pink" but it came out a bit overcooked. I requested extra aioli in order to eat it. I subbed the mixed greens as my side which were fresh and well dressed. I ordered the pasta special to go. It was pretty good and they gave a large portion. I do wish there was more squash in it. I got the everything nice as a mocktail and it was perfectly balanced! I would come back for drinks one day. Not sure if I'd order any entrees. Someone in my group got the corn bread app which she shared with the table. The corn bread was delicious and not dry at all. The cubes were huge! The butter it came with was great too. Our server was nice, but also kind of short with us/rushed. Any time he came over to the table he ran away before we could even answer him. We felt very awkward. Definitely make sure you arrive a little early as parking can be a little difficult. I'll likely come back one more time to give it another shot, but sadly not very impressed with our experience.

Yelp
*Restaurant week review* I heard great things about Laura Lee's and was excited to try it out during restaurant week. They had few reservations available but we managed to grab 8pm on a Saturday. When we arrived, a table wasn't available and had to wait for a party to leave. The restaurant is quaint so that was understandable. They have a bar to get drinks in the meantime. We went with the steamed mussels, fried shrimp, New York strip, and pumpkin cake. Most of it was good but the portions were very small. The fried shrimp was the best dish we had. The steamed mussels were quite salty. The New York strip was more rare than expected since we ordered medium. We were disappointed that it was only three strips with maybe four fingerling potatoes and brussel sprouts. Lastly, the pumpkin cake was the smallest slice I've ever been served in a restaurant (picture does it more justice) and while delicious, it was crumbly. We left pretty disappointed and hungry and had to stop elsewhere for food. Perhaps our experience was specific to restaurant week.

Yelp
Always a great experience with waitstaff & food! Bar seating is just as good as main room seating! GO ANYTIME

Yelp
We dined at Laura Lee's during a snowstorm in Richmond and the restaurant was decently packed. The restaurant is located in Forest Hill so parking may be tough, but still worth checking out. Due to the snowstorm, the wait times were a bit longer; however the indoor atmosphere was fun and the views were perfect as it's almost like an indoor garage. We were able to see the snow fall through the garage windows, and had a fun date night at Laura Lee's - definitely check out their daily deals!

Yelp
I ate here on their meatless Monday night for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh, farm sourced vegetables. I was worried wouldn't have enough vegetarian or vegan options if we didn't dine on Monday but that was not the case. Has ample appetizers that are vegetarian or can be made vegetarian as well as atleast two menu options for vegetarians everyday. On mondays has extra option/specials. I would recommend and go again. It's like an upscale neighborhood place. Only negative thing is no parking.

Yelp
PARKING: Not the best parking available from what I can see. Street parking mostly. SERVICE: We had a very friendly waitress. Gave informed suggestions and checked on us frequently. FOOD: MILK BREAD WITH WHIPPED HONEY BUTTER Bread was pretty good. Had a slightly harder exterior and fluffy on the inside. Would have liked the butter to be softer. BISTRO STEAK WITH ROASTED POTATOES AND CARROTS My steak was a little disappointing. It had a lot of fat that should have been trimmed prior. The carrots were surprisingly the best part. However they were seasoned was perfect and the house sauce was delicious. DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER WITH SHREDDED LETTUCE AND KIMCHI MAYO My companion said that the burger was decent. The kimchi mayo was the waitress's main selling point but the flavor was a bit muted. It wasn't a bad burger but nothing to write time about. BLACKBERRY FROZEN COCKTAIL This was the special frozen cocktail of the day so it wasn't on the menu. I'm not a big blackberry fan but this was changed my mind for sure. All in all, the food was okay but nothing worth a repeat visit.

Yelp
I have been for both weekend brunch and a dinner, and have enjoyed both very much. The food was delicious, service excellent, and super cute vibes in the restaurant. I loved the mussels, the cocktails, the scallops dish - so flavorful!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute place with nice staff members. They didn't have strawberries so I couldn't get a strawberry lemon drop. Regular lemon drop was fine and effective. Bit of a wait for food and drinks. Coworkers enjoyed the swordfish and the vegetables . The chicken sandwich was good. Burger was good-relatively sizeable. Chicken wings were the only things that weren't good in our opinion.

Yelp
Laura Lee's has to be one of my top restaurants in Richmond. I love everything about the food, the service, and the atmosphere. They have simple dishes that are elevated by quality and downright deliciousness. Their drink selection (mocktail and cocktails) are ones you don't want to miss. Ryan, one of my favorite bartenders there, makes some of the best drinks. The bar itself is absolutely stunning. The interior design here deserves an additional star itself. I'm surprised it's taken me this long to write a review for this local gem, but here it is: I love Laura Lee's and would recommend it to anyone in Richmond. They have a lot of gluten-free options and are very mindful of any food restrictions one may have. If you're looking for recs, I always (ALWAYS) order the milk bread and fried oysters. I wasn't a fried oyster girlie until I had Laura Lee's fried oysters. They're simple, crunchy, and still the perfect amount of fresh watery inside. The milk bread is what I imagine eating bread from a cloud village must be like. The whipped honey butter that comes with it is something I'd order alone too. I change up my entrees when I come here and have loved pretty much everything I've ordered here. On my recent visit, my mom and I got the branzino special. She isn't a cheese grit person, so they kindly switched it to these delicious brussel sprouts. Parker was our server, and he is incredibly kind, charming, and helpful. They have two gender neutral restrooms here. There is free street parking out front and nearby. If you're looking for incredible food, in a beautiful environment, with wonderful people, Laura Lee's is the perfect spot for you.

Yelp
Going to Laura Lee's was such a fun time and delicious dinner. I love that the menu has a good variety but not so many choices that it's overwhelming. They're many weekly specials that they offer during the week. Our server was so good about sharing the specials and menu changes for the evening. The Meatless Monday that they prepared sounded delicious. I opted for the brussel sprouts small plate and they were cooked to perfection & so flavorful. My friend also loved the Soup du Jour, Butternut Squash, and the pasta dish. Everything came out quickly and was so fresh. The restaurant is so cute inside. It's all wood with gold, white, and teal accents. I particularly adored the fun artwork on the walls. Do you are able to have the best ambiance for your delish meal!

Yelp
Cute place, but the portions for dinner are entirely too small for what you pay for. The rockfish, and acorn squash entrees were more like sides. We sadly left hungry after paying over $100 for the bill (with wine). Overall this place is nice, and we would probably go back to try brunch only.

Yelp
Best Muscles of my life! Such a delicious broth with them. Got the pasta bolognese which has a pleasantly surprising spice level. Also a pretty quality selection of alcohol.

Yelp
Visited for anniversary while in town based on reviews but this one's another Yelp dud. Ordered sparkling Cremant & day's special sparkling wine, the Cremant was old & flat. Ordered mussels appetizer to share, wife got french toast & breakfast hash for me. Mussels were great, fench toast nothing to write home about & the breakfast hash was waaay too salty that I couldnt continue eating. Told the waitress it was too salty & she couldnt care less. Definitely not worth the $$$ nor the drive from hotel. What a disappointment... perhaps their dinner is better but looks like owner's not around to keep on top of things bc quality control is missing.

Yelp
Laura Lee's is a Richmond staple and rightfully so! The hues of brown and green and rustic decor add to the overall aesthetic of the restaurant. I met my best-friend here for an after work dinner and the food was delicious. We started off with the milk bread and fish dip. The-milk bread was so good that we couldn't stop eating it! It was crusty and moist. The fish dip reminded me of a cold salmon dip and it was great! We ordered it separately in lieu of the "plate" appetizer. For an entree I ordered the catfish and it was fried to perfection. The slaw and remoulade added the perfect touch. The overall service was great. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly.

Yelp
Enjoyed this place for a late weekday supper before Thanksgiving. Our table was around 8pm and the place had started emptying out, so definitely come a bit earlier for a more lively scene. The ambiance is quite pleasant, spread across two large rooms. My guess is the one without the bar is quieter generally, but you could be happy with either side. Service was very attentive and quick - our fantastic waiter checked up on us frequently so we needed for nothing. Food really good. I enjoyed a nice beet salad and some raw oysters, followed by the butternut squash soup as my main (wasn't that hungry). Everything tasted incredibly fresh, especially my soup. Tried the duck and crab cake from two friends which were also quite delicious. Skipped dessert though it had some wonderful looking choices. Overall really nice experience.

Yelp
A must-eat location in the Forest Hill area of Richmond. The interior is spectacular with exposed brick, modern artwork, and cushion booth seating. The staff is exceptional and attentive. When the weather is nice, the front window garage door is opened. There is also garden outdoor seating. The menu includes a nice cocktail selection and other drinks. The menu has a variety of modern takes on classic dishes. Their brunch menu is fabulous. The restroom is super cool with a hand painted mural and tasteful decor items. There is a restroom with a baby changing table as well. The relaxing atmosphere in the restaurant makes it feel like you are at your best friend's home. Relaxing music is piped in and playing at just the right volume to create a great ambience but still allow table conversation. This is one of my favorite places to go and enjoy a meal with family and friends.

M M.

Yelp
Great service and good. Our reservation was for 7:30 p.m. and we were shown directly to our table. Dishes ordered: Burrata appetizer Broccoli side Steak Double burger Carbonara One more, I forget. I could eat the burrata appetizer for a week straight and still want more. Dinner was delicious. Know the restaurant is not the quietest - but it was not so boisterous as to be disruptive. We look forward to enjoying again!

Yelp
Went here for a Saturday brunch. Two things about the brunch menu: the prices are pretty high for how small the portions are and there are just not a lot of options. The biscuits and gravy were pretty good and the mimosa was tasty (although very heavy on the orange juice). It did take me 20+ minutes to get a mimosa which was rough, everyone at my table was done eating before I got the drink. The server was apologetic but it was still frustrating as they were not very busy and I didn't see any reason for such a delay for a glass of champagne and OJ. Overall it was fine but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back for brunch.

Yelp

Yelp
This place is always wonderful. Discovered it during restaurant week. The outdoor patio is fun. Drinks are on point. Service also great.

Yelp
Laura Lee's does all of the little things that make a great dinner experience just right. The service was excellent, special thanks to Parker. The ambience is perfect: the lighting is soft, but not dim, the music is just loud enough to follow when you hear a song you enjoy, but not loud enough to discourage conversation. The music was an eclectic mix I rather enjoyed, ranging in variety from Mandy Moore to Slim Shady. My wife and I shared the Plate (charcuterie), and it was excellent. Loved every bit of it, though we ended up getting an additional side order of bread to use all of the spreads ($2 charge for the extra bread, which is totally reasonable and was definitely worth it.) I had the seared scallops and my wife had the roast half chicken. The scallops were very good, but not great. I had to ask for some salt to really bring out the flavors in the dish. My wife said the roast half chicken was excellent. It was a good portion; she ended up taking some home. All told it was a great experience and we plan to be back. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
I'm going to keep this brief. Just go see for yourself!!! I gave it 5 stars! Trust and believe that was for a good reason!

Yelp
I always forget how much I love Laura Lees! Came here to celebrate our anniversary and everything from the service to the food was outstanding. The new patio area is absolutely gorgeous and adds so much more seating. They also have heaters out there for chillier days/nights. As always, the food was delicious...my husband loves a really crispy wing and said these were the best he's had. I loved the ranch rub and the fact they don't put the Buffalo sauce on the wing (I'm not a fan). Quality double cheeseburger and so many fries they were literally falling off my plate. It wasn't busy (which I always thought there was always such a wait) so don't hesitate to go soon!

Yelp
Went for brunch with my daughter today. She had previously dined here, and really enjoyed the food and service. We were greeted promptly and seated immediately without a reservation. I had one of their specialty cocktails of the day, which was amazing. I had a brunch special of the day. I can't remember the name of it, but it was a biscuit with sausage gravy, a piece of fried chicken topped with an egg. It was amazing! The decor, art work & live plants gives it a nice vibe! 10/10 recommend! I'll definitely be returning.

Yelp
We went for restaurant week and was impressed! Appetizers and entree was good but the best part was the apple caramel cake. That cake was SO good.

Yelp
If you are looking for a very cute place to have brunch or a meal, especially for a group of girls, or a bachelorette party, this is your place. Laura Lee's is quaint on the outside and chic and modern on the inside. The atmosphere screams "betches who brunch" and is great for photos. I came here for a lunch date after searching around for a cute brunch spot in downtown Richmond. Our server was attentive, and the drinks and food we're good. No complaints, but nothing that blew things out of the water. Overall, this place did not disappoint, especially if you're looking for bright, sleek, and cute vibes
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Seems like a nice place to linger over a meal. But I'll never know for sure as I was treated very rudely. I sat at the bar and ordered two entrees from the bartender for take-away. After waiting 10,+ minutes I was approached by someone else and told they were not going to provide the meals I'd ordered because "we're busy at the moment." This person's manner was very abrupt and on the verge of confrontational. I'll grant they were busy but not jammed up; there were several empty tables and they were still seating incoming customers. As I said, this looks like an attractive place. But if this is the way they treat all their customers they won't last long.

Yelp
Been wanting to try Laura Lee's for a while. The menu looks fantastic and the place is just cute. Went in for dinner with a friend. I can honestly say this is a great place to have a cocktail and catch up. The drinks were phenomenal. I got the Perpetual Bliss - perfection! The floral undertones of the gin pair PERFECTLY with the elderflower. Definitely a must try. For starters we tried the soup special which was a sunchoke soup with lump crab meat. Everything about it was a little off - the temperature, the blandness, and the crab shells. Simply put, it needed a little salt. The next perpetual bliss saved the day. I kept it simple with a chicken sandwich which was really good! My friend got the catfish which she said was flavorful as well. We realize the soup was just a miss. Everything else was redeeming! Including the parking. Our service was good too. Everyone was attentive. And the bartender... again... amazing drinks will definitely be back.

Yelp
We came here tonight for the first time with both of our young kids and had such a delightful dinner out! We made reservations online, and I'm not sure we needed them for a 5p dinner time but by the time we were heading out it was very busy! We sat in the back patio which is absolutely gorgeous. The perfect little oasis to enjoy a meal. Ordered so many things, but the standouts were the catfish sandwich, polenta, milk bread and broccoli rabe. The seasonal spritz was fantastic also. I'm already excited to come back. Makes a fantastic outing as it's right across from forest hill park!!

Yelp
Laura Lee's is one of my ten out of ten. Excellent food and service. I like the privacy of the booths especially when it gets full because it can be pretty loud. We had oysters, mussels and gazpacho for appetizers, all were delicious. My boyfriend thinks they have the best mussels in Richmond and the oysters are some of the best too. Everyone loved their dinner, I had the fish and it was perfectly cooked, very tasty. Highly recommend Laura Lee's.

Yelp
EAT THE POLENTA. Any way you find it on the menu; don't think about it, EAT IT. I could survive on a trough of it for the rest of my life. 6 out for a triple date; 2 got short ribs, generous hunk of short rib with that polenta and brussel YUM, 1 steak special was perfection, a vegetarian got the impossible burger that came with so many extras that were also delicious, a bowl of Bolognese that was an absolute abbondanza and scrumptious, and red curry scallops that were too spicy for the lightweight who ordered it, but really really delicious to those who don't mind a lil, scant spice. We started with, you guessed it, polenta, brussels, and a crostini from the small plates and the were enjoyed by all. Super nice food (The Roosevelt is my favorite restaurant, so bonus for them being related) in a really nice spot. The ambiance looked more upscale than the casual atmosphere is, so come as you are or dress up; either way, you'll fit in fine. Service was very friendly and didn't hover which is nice. But, we were taken care of. Give them a try, polenta polenta polenta

Yelp
Since my mom's in NC and I'm in MD, Richmond was a great halfway point for Mother's Day. I found this place last minute and booked a reservation. It's so cute. Service was great. Food was tasty! I'd definitely recommend it to folks passing through Richmond.

Yelp
We enjoyed date night at Laura Lee's! After years of dining out in Richmond, I can't believe this was our first time here! We dined on a Sunday night and were fortunate enough to land street parking right in front. We sat at a cozy little booth and enjoyed the art-filled space. Drinks were great, and I especially loved that they had a nice selection of Mocktails right on the menu. We started with the plate, which was a charcuterie appetizer perfect for the two of us. I especially loved the smoked fish dip on the plate, and the pickles were also excellent! For dinner, I went with the roast chicken and my husband had the scallops. Our server, Parker, was helpful in assisting with dinner selections, and his face lit up when he described the chicken! The peri peri sauce on the chicken was so full of flavor and I really enjoyed the dish. I did find the potatoes and brussels sprouts served with the chicken a bit oily and less crisp than I prefer, but they were still pretty good. For dessert, I had the apple custard pie. It was lovely and reminded me of a buttermilk pie. Everything was good and service was excellent. We look forward to trying Laura Lee's again for brunch sometime!

Yelp
Ate here for the first time Sunday for brunch. Walking in, you can just tell it is going to be great. The decor and vibe match the wonderful food! I had the crab cakes which I rarely order at restaurants because most destroy them. Too much filler and the bitter dust taste of old bay. But NOT here, it was the perfectly crabby cake over perfectly cooked grits that were perfectly seasoned. The fennel and apple slaw added brightness and there was picketed radish. My friend got the Bennie and loved it and her nine year old daughter got the French toast. The staff were super attentive and cheerful! Definitely want to go back for dinner. The only thing I would change? Make it closer to me!
google avatar

Sandra K.

Yelp
So the food was good. It wasn't fantastic but it seemed like it wanted to be great. What I mean by that is the oysters were almost great except the breading to oyster ratio was a no go. The breading was really rough and scraped up my mouth. Scallops were good but four?! As an entree?! The milk bread was money. The pasta bolognese was plentiful but ziti is not the right pasta. The lamb ragu was decent. Where this place excelled was the service. Parker was so much fun and had great energy. We got this great booth to sit in and we could be a little loud but it was also quiet enough for us to hear each other!

Yelp
Food is good Service is good It's generally good It's definitely a millennial hipster style joint tho Nothing wrong with that just if you don't like that maybe not the joint for you lol

Yelp
Ambience and service is great! Unfortunately the menu fell flat, I got the mussels and chorizo in broth. The broth was very bland, with little-to-none chorizo. The bread is delicious. The mussels themselves were just alright. Friends got shortrib, that seems to be the best thing on the menu. The duck and chicken sandwich were both very slimey, not raw, just unpleasant. Some food was cold when it came out. The plate appetizer was my favorite dish I tried. All of my friends got cocktails that they said were delicious. A good place to drink and nibble, maybe don't go here starving; the high-ish price doesn't align with the quality of food.

Yelp
Been to Laura Lee's twice and both times I have been underwhelmed. While the menu looks good the food itself has really disappointed. The cocktails list is great and they have alot of unique drinks.

Yelp
Decent! The spring vegetable plate was okay as a side rather than a main dish. And the chicken sandwich was cooked well, except the fries were way over seasoned in my opinion. Good service too.

Yelp
I went last night with some coworkers and overall our experience was fine. I think there are much better restaurants in Richmond with better service. My food was good, but overall nothing to write home about. We ordered the milk bread and the strawberry crostini. The milk bread was good and the crostini had mixed reviews. a steak and potato salad with the peas on top. The steak was cooked really well and the potato salad overall was good. Our waitress was fine, but like I said everything was just underwhelming. I think for the price point you can find a multitude of other restaurants in Richmond with a much better experience.

Yelp
I am so thankful to have Laura Lee's as a standout Richmond staple. We went there for a date night recently. When the server found out we had an event to attend, they were extra attentive to being sure we had plenty of time to enjoy our dinner while still making it to our next stop as scheduled. I was thrilled to see some old favorites and new items on the menu and, per usual, the food was delicious. Most of all, I love the unique ambiance that combines a sophisticated and artistic decor with a comfortable neighborhood feel. Not sure how they do it but I will always be there for it!

Yelp
Laura Lee's is just what the doctor ordered. Not your typical wedge salad...while romaine drizzled with homemade blue cheese and dressing. A chilled cup of cucumber and pea gazpacho with bacon and a garnish of micro greens. Fig and strawberry with pistachio and goat cheese with a light drizzle of honey surprise. And the finale, seats scallops seared to perfection over homemade creamed corn, the teeniest cherry and thick sliced peaches with the skin o with another delicate drizzle surprise. This restaurant is a Chefs Kiss. I've been going around town reeling everybody. I can't believe I haven't tried this gem sooner. The service was excellent and the ambiance...half circle seating, comfortable leather cushions, relaxing atmosphere and I will be back

Yelp
Laura Lee's is a great spot to relax, chill, and enjoy a delicious meal! Upon entering this establishment you are greeted with dim lighting and jazz that will take you away. I love that the wall is adorned with artwork and some of plays & jazz musicians. I'm in the arts so this place immediately made me feel at home. The service was really friendly and they adhered to all of the Covid guidelines, which makes for a more comfortable dining experience. As for the food...Ooh La La! I ordered the Lump Crab Cakes and it was indeed a some of the most delicious crab cakes that I have had. Let's start off with the fact that the crab meat is so lumpy and juicy. A lot of restaurants try to trick you by adding other ingredients to cover the fact that the crab meat is lacking but not here. Oh and they are a really good size so you don't feel slighted. You definitely get your money's worth and more. The combination of the fennel and apple salad was a pleasant surprise. The apples are so thinly sliced and the fennel is just the right amount that when blended you get the best of the two. The celery root puree is light and goes well with both dishes. Compliments to the chef and this entire establishment for creating a fine dining experience in the heart of Richmond. It is a great night for drinks with the girls or a romantic experience with your mate. It comes highly recommended!
