"Before Easy Tiger, the East Austin space was 7co, an event space run by Austin restaurant group Parkside Projects. And then, before that, the entire outdoor-indoor area was originally built out for the fine-dining French restaurant LaV, which ran from 2014 through late 2026." - Nadia Chaudhury

"LaV was a stylish French restaurant on East 7th Street, Austin, which has been closed for two years. It was opened in March 2014 by Ralph Eads with an all-female team including executive chef Allison Jenkins, wine director and partner Vilma Mazaite, and pastry chef-then executive chef Janina O’Leary. The space was sold to real estate investor David Kahn." - Nadia Chaudhury

Texas-sized portions of fine French Cuisine? Yes please. Throw in a sophisticated, modern atmosphere and great service? Absolutely. After hearing from a couple foodie friends that this was the place to go, I made a reservation for my first-year anniversary and we weren't disappointed. The place was empty when we arrived at 6:15 but filled in soon. The creative dishes incorporated seasonal ingredients and were expertly flavored, justifying the $$$ rating. The best thing about the meal was that I left with a full belly, which is saying a lot, having the metabolism of a two-ton wildebeest. We didn't try the wine pairings, which presumably would have made the experience even more amazing, but it was great without. Looking forward to going back when I get a hankerin' for gourmet food and/or when I get my bonus.

When leaving a restaurant I ultimately ask myself, "Did I like this place enough to return?" In the case of La V, my answer was No. Let me start by saying the decor was great, everything neat and in its place. Our hostess looked like a tall Edna Mode, which I mostly thought was hilarious. That being said, this place seemed liked it tried too hard to be trendy and snooty. Kind of like, just because they have escargot, we're supposed to be impressed? Furthermore, our server seemed disinterested and was not helpful when asked for a drink recommendation - even though they had in house sommelier who could have assisted. I will say food was great, although definitely not classic French. Steak tasted smokey w southwestern notes, especially with the roasted red pepper sauce. Salmon was great quality with a natural buttery flavor. Presentation was appealing. Drinks were good, cheese plate was also- we really enjoyed having a quick "tour" of the cheese plate regarding the order. I will say, the table bread & butter and mushroom risotto were the best I've ever had. Still won't come back, but I'll definitely give them credit there. In conclusion, over priced, over hyped. You'd be better off spending your money elsewhere.

Gorgeous decor, Excellent service, Impeccable food. Came here for my bday and was thoroughly impressed, first off the decor of the restaurant is gorgeous, very very very well done, a gorgeous patio and an incredibly french feel to it through and through. Food is great, the scallops were delightful as was the octopus, i cant say enough good things about the green spetzle side dish that i had as well. Cocktails were supremely good and i look forward to coming back for a few. Lastly, the service was great, they have a large staff that do a very good job at ensuring every request is met and do so in a courteous manner. would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone (that can afford it)

Fine French dining has arrived in Austin. La V is an exceptionally wonderful addition to the Austin dining scene. The menu is inspired from the Provence region of France, meaning the dishes are not silly art food - "one bite only" servings. The plates are excellent portion sizes thankfully since the price of the plates will definitely make you take notice of what you order. Despite that, it is well worth it. The food was fantastic. I'm a colossal food snob and I won't hesitate to point out an issue with my food, especially considering the price. My friends and I ordered a patE and cheese plate for starters. Both were sumptuous. The cheese plate in particular as it had me mumbling profanities under my breath it was so delicious. I wanted to swim in all that melted cheesey deliciousness. For dinner I ordered a steak and frites off the bar menu. Fries were not bad, but the steak was perfect. "Cooked" rare to perfection just as I like it. For desert we split a lavendar custard which was another experience on the level of divine. La V is also very wine forward, as they dropped a "binder of wines" for us to pick over to have with our meal. I am not a wine drinker but they did have many bottles to choose from, some ranging up to the thousands of dollars range. Kind of ridiculous, especially for an East Austin restaurant, but I understand this is the type of establishment they want to be. You can have wine by the glass if your wallet is more Austin rather than Las Vegas. They also do craft cocktails, which were more my speed. The Negroni I ordered was made perfectly. Don't even bother with asking for a beer, they only have 3 taps. Sad since so many beers pair well with hearty French fare. They were well chosen however. Very drinkable for the majority of people. The decor is really something special. They spent a lot of money making the establishment look like a Five Star restaurant. Just be aware of the homeless and hipsters wandering around the area, they might ask for a cigarette.

The food was amazing, basically heavenly. The atmosphere is perfect for any important occasion or for an intimate night out - I chose this place for a very special night with my fiancé, and I couldn't have asked for more. The staff was amazing, they were extremely supportive when it came to our special night. The private back room is perfect for group dinners, extremely intimate and beautifully decorated. In conclusion I recommend this restaurant, it's just simply perfect.

The food unfortunately is not on par with how absolutely breathtaking this space is. You feel like you have arrived at a glorious French chateau, with exquisite chandeliers, velvet curtains, wine bottles on the wall to the ceiling, and excellent service to boot. The rest, however, is downhill from there in terms of the dining. We tried the artichokes, charcuterie board, escargot, some sort of calamari fritter, and the bouillabaisse. Everything was beautifully plated but when it came to the flavors, were either average or disappointing. The bouillabaisse was particularly disappointing --very bland. I think I will only come back for drinks in the future.

a solid date night place, with beautiful interiors and pretty tasty food. i tried the chicken liver pate (delish!!!!!!), grilled octopus (pretty good), and wood over chicken for two. the chicken seems to be a spin off of zuni cafe in san francisco. def not as good as that, but still good enough. and big enough for 3 people. we ordered the warm brioche doughnuts that were delicious and perfect to share for 3 stuffed people. the service was top notch and i'll def want to return for brunch. valet is complimentary which is great since it was hard to find parking.

Outstanding restaurant on opening week! Third day open and we were lucky to experience this oasis from the chaotic atmosphere of Downtown Austin for South by Southwest. It is rare to find a restaurant so well prepared for opening week. From our lovely server to the advice of the sommellier service was friendly, professional, and attentive. As what you expect in Texas, great hospitality. Not only was the service five stars, each dish we was delectable. We were delighted to find this restaurant by chance and left content and very happy with our experience. This coming from someone from LA and a group of Toronto -- who have access to world-class restaurants at home. Tonight, my colleagues and I were looking for dinner in the Eastside and away from the craziness of Southby in Downtown. We stumbled upon this restaurant on 7th St by passing by not finding a suitable place on Yelp. We also saw that they had valet parking on this rainy Austin evening. The management team at LaV come from world renowned dining establishments. Wine: Vilma Mazaite was Wine Director for Michael Mina in Las Vegas. She helped open the Wynn Resort. She worked with renowned chef Mario Batali at his famous Babbo restaurant in NYC. Food: Allison Jenkins, Executive Chef, was the Chef de Cuisine at The Coach House on Martha's Vineyard, and spent time at Ajax Tavern in Aspen located in the five diamond rated The Little Nell.
