Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience at Laylas yesterday. I booked a reservation for 9:45pm for Saturday, 3 days in advance on OpenTable.
I confirmed the reservation Friday via text. Additionally, I got a text at 9:45pm Saturday saying "please reply if you are on your way." I responded immediately.
At 9:52 we arrived. The outside bouncer told us there were no reservations and the kitchen was closing at 10. We explained that is fine, we will just have drinks (The bar closes at 1am). He said no, and went to get a manager.
The manager came out and was extremely rude, disrespectful, and raised his voice at us.
He said the kitchen is closed, and we were way too late for our reservation. Again, we arrived at 9:52 and let the restaurant know via text we were on the way. He said to us "don't pretend we are in the wrong here". I showed the reservation on our phone and how we confirmed with the restaurant twice - but we were still told we were wrong.
It was clear the restaurant mistakenly took our reservation via OpenTable. They had 3 days to cancel - but did not. The fact that they blamed US for their mistake is beyond me. I have never been so disrespected and belittled by a manager before.
