"We’ve heard it’s not cool to bring alcohol to a pet store, so when you want to drink beer all day surrounded by dogs, head to Lazarus Brewing instead. They have a solid beer selection, plenty of bar seating, and a shady patio ideal for hanging with friends and slowly recruiting more people (and dogs) to join you. When everyone has had a few drinks and inevitably gets hungry, Lazarus serves tacos and sandwiches too." - nicolai mccrary, adele hazan, katherine lewin
"Pilsners and lagers dominate the list here, showing an appreciation for both Austin’s weather and the art of doing the basics right. There’s also a solid coffee program and a menu of tacos and tortas, making the space a vital all-day hang destination. Lazarus opened a second location on Airport Boulevard with 15 taps, wine and coffee options, a menu focusing on Mexican food, and a pirate ship play area for kids. Both locations offer online ordering and indoor and outdoor areas, although the East 6th Street location is decidedly more suave." - Erin Russell
"Like the original on the East Side, the second location of the popular brewery Lazarus near I-35 and Airport Boulevard has a large list of beers brewed in-house, plus espresso-based drinks, tacos, and tortas. Both locations have excellent patios, but we especially like the one on Airport for the sheer size of it all—plus, it’s covered to help protect against rain, sun, and very tiny meteorites (probably). "Also in North Loop and a stone’s throw from Shipe Pool is the expansion of Austin brewery and restaurant Lazarus, which offers nachos, tacos, tortas, and more along with its beers. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Darcie Duttweiler
"Lazarus is probably best known as a great spot to grab some house-brewed beers on their expansive, East 6th patio. And after you’ve been there for a couple of hours, you’ve probably started flipping through the menu to find the small food section, consisting mostly of tacos, tortas, and a few small snacks. The torta here is big—we had to take the second half home—and packed full of your choice of meat (or black bean). Try out one of their rotating pilsners, grab a torta, and get situated on their shaded patio for some East Side people-watching. " - raphael brion, nicolai mccrary
