The 38 Best Restaurants in Toronto, Canada | Eater

"Lazy Daisy’s owner Dawn Chapman’s farm-forward philosophy, which stems from her childhood experiences growing up on her grandparents’ farm in Midhurst, Ontario, has made her brunch spot a community fixture in the city’s east end of Leslieville. People clamor for the high-rise biscuit sandwiches. The fluffy cushions embrace decadent fillings such as fried chicken with honey butter and jalapeño cheese, or eggs with portobello mushrooms and vegan cheddar. The free-spirited spot also offers massive platters of comfort food like cinnamon bun pancakes, beefy smash burgers, and bacon grilled cheese sandwiches. Know before you go: Even though it closes at 4 p.m., Lazy Daisy offers a half-secret dinner menu for takeaway from Thursday to Sunday. It includes some of the greatest hits, like smashburgers, buttermilk biscuits, and waffles." - Tiffany Leigh

The 38 Essential Toronto Restaurants

"Owner Dawn Chapman’s farm-forward philosophy stems from her childhood experiences growing up on her grandparents’ farm in Midhurst, Ontario. Her beloved brunch spot (with a newly minted dinner menu) has become a community pillar in the city’s east end of Leslieville (and beyond). People clamor for the legendary high-rise biscuit sandwiches, the stuff of down-home country dreams. These fluffy cushions embrace decadent fillings such as fried chicken with honey butter and jalapeno cheese, Mennonite smoked bacon cradling a runny egg and melty aged cheddar, or eggs with portobello mushrooms and vegan cheddar. The free-spirited spot also offers massive platters of comfort food like cinnamon bun pancakes, beefy smash burgers, blissful bacon grilled cheese sandwiches, and spiced fried chicken on golden Belgian waffles. There’s also a roster of grab-and-go goodies (cookies, muffins, Nanaimo bars, brownies) and bake-at-home biscuits for whenever the craving strikes." - Tiffany Leigh

Lazy daisy is one of our favourite breakfast spots in this neighbourhood. Today we were advised of a 35 minute wait for a table for two but were able to sit at the counter right away. We had the rise & fry, son of a rise, and a short stack of cinnamon bun pancakes (2). Everything was delicious. For both sandwiches we agreed that the biscuit was the best part. We would definitely recommend and be back

This is an amazing brunch spot in the East York area! The homemade biscuits are literally to die for and the brunch options are such a great selection. The ingredients used are so fresh and curated with care. It’s a great spot and the atmosphere is very welcoming. My one little bother was that the home fries were not home made! Everything else was so fresh I was hoping for the same! This should not deter anyone from going though as the options they have are fantastic. Photos speak for itself.

Not Smashing IT! 🤢 Overrated. By far the worst customer experience I've ever experienced at a restaurant. I was able to get a table right away. But the waitress took an excessively long time to come to my table. The waitress brings me a menu and some bottled water. Doesn't even ask me if I want coffee. I wait an incredibly long time for the waitress to come back. The waitress takes my order. I wait a long time some more. Waitress finally brings me the coffee and orange juice that I ordered, but several minutes later. The coffee isn't filled to the top, and it's cold. Coffee is lacking that star quality. Shame. The freshly squeezed orange juice didn't taste like freshly squeezed OJ. Tasted kind of watered down. I waited a long time and noticed that a table that arrived after me is served their food before me. After waiting 28 minutes, my food comes out. I had the following: Home Fries - horrible old, over cooked and dry. Not edible. I tell the waitress she doesn't give a care. The plate was chipped! Buttermilk Pancakes - OK. Too sweet. Just average. Egg Brito - OK. Runny with red color liquid. It's not a good look. Not once did the waitress come to my table and ask how everything was. No top up of coffee. The food looks great but don't be fooled by the pictures. The food was not worth the visit. When I was done, the waitress just took the plates. Doesn't even ask if I would like some more coffee or if I would like to order some dessert. 🙄 I would have been happier had I gone to McDonald's. At least their coffee is hot and hash browns cooked to order. Nice and fresh. Also the restaurant is cold. Turn on the heat! Bad food. Cold coffee and really bad waitstaff. This is the type of restaurant that makes you realize that cooking at home is really where it's at. Save your money. Avoid the cold coffee and just OK food. There's no wow factor. I was even charged for the non edible fries that I didn't eat that I had returned to the kitchen!

Lazy daisy’s is a go to for east end brunch! I love that a lot (if not, all) their eggs and meats are locally sourced. The food is always spot on! The servers are super friendly and attentive, even when it’s super busy. (If you go in the weekend, be prepared to wait for a table as they do get busy) I love the breakfast burrito, and the breakfast sandwhich on their biscuit. Mac and cheese also is delicious. I also got a strawberry matcha the other day and it was super yum!

Google
Beautiful place in an amazing area, the decor was great and so was the food, I got a chicken sandwich, and lavender lemonade both of which were 10/10s. The customer service was great, and the food came very fast. Overall great experience, need to go again and order the breakfast - there were so many options!

Google
This is a cute cafe in the Little India area serving up brunch made with local/Canadian ingredients. As their name suggests, there's daisies throughout their restaurants. I personally really enjoy their buttermilk biscuits and therefore always go for their sandwiches. I tried the Son of a Rise and Rise 'N' Shine. They're the perfect portion and definitely makes a great meal. Be prepared to wait a bit for a table. The times I've visited, the wait was between 10 minutes to half an hour which isn't bad. There's also plenty of free and paid street parking in the area. There's also shops in the area for you to kill time while you wait for a table.

I wandered in here at the crack of 8am looking for a place to kill some time before work. The whole staff was so warm and lovely, right when I walked in. The decor is a very cute sort of modern cozy cottage vibe. They even played great music, lots of classics. I got the Son Of A Rise breakfast sandwich (sans tomatoes) and the honey lavender tea latte. Both were made very quickly and they were absolutely delicious! The bathrooms were also very clean and tidy. Don't be fooled into thinking they're not open if you don't see their hanging sign - I watched it break in half after 14 years being exposed to the elements! 😂😂 10/10 would recommend!

Google
Food- incredibly fresh and high quality! Their prices are so affordable and the product has me wanting to come back every chance I get! Service- could not be friendlier! So attentive and sweet! Atmosphere - clean, bright with a cozy aesthetic 10/10 expect to see me again!

Yelp
Came by for Sunday brunch and was surprised to see it was already packed with people at 10am! I ordered the lavender latte which was so soothing and delicious on a cold winter day. We tried the cinnamon bun pancake and biscuits and gravy. The cinnamon bun pancake was fluffy and not too sweet. The biscuits and gravy however were bland. I have not tried this dish before but I felt like it needed more flavour. The service felt very rushed unfortunately. We also were not instructed how to use the machine when we tried tapping with our card. Turns out the tip had to be manually entered. Anyway, it is a popular spot for brunch with decent items. Not sure if worth the hype based on the dishes tried and service. But I would highly recommend the lavender latte to try.

Yelp
What a cute spot to have delicious brunch. I can see why the biscuits are famous. So light. Service is friendly and the place is so cute.

Yelp
Finally got to this great little cafe at Gerrard and Coxwell. And yes! the biscuits are as good as everyone says! We went at opening and it got quite busy quickly with lots of families with very young children checking out pancakes and breakfast sandwiches. If you are looking for a quiet bite, this likely isn't the place for you, at least not early. This place has the distinction of being one of the few places around to serve country sausage gravy with biscuits. The full meal comes with eggs and tomatoes too. And every bit as wonderful as you would expect Also all their ingredients are local, or organic or Mennonite. Wonderful. Hubby had the Standard (eggs, bacon, home fries and sourdough toast). The coffee is wonderful too. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. They are well known for their breakfast sandwiches and you can buy the biscuits frozen to bake up at home. They have like 5 different flavors. Takeout is also possible. Parking is on the street.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times. I love the deco. It's ALWAYS been very busy! Usually a line! Love the cinnamon bun pancakes! The chicken sandwich is HUGE!

Yelp
This cafe was smaller than we thought but PACKED with people in love with the food. We luckily got a table and was immediately in awe of the portions being served at other tables. Their famous chicken was pretty good, our server was nice and the overall ambiance of the cafe was well designed and super comfy. I highly suggest you guys check it out.

Yelp
Cute place! We visited on a Saturday morning and beat the rush (around 11am). We only waited ~10 minutes for a table. We ordered the #1 breakfast sandwich, the buttermilk pancakes, and the club sandwich with fries. To drink, I ordered a gingerbread latte and my boyfriend ordered a chai latte. There was a rubber band in my latte, and they quickly replaced it with a new drink. I'd still come here again, really cute and open space with many tables and room at the bar by the window sill. There were also really tasty looking baked goods at the till for a quick bite.

Yelp
Finally made it to this place for breakfast. Close to 9 am their awesome patio was practically empty. I'm sure it will fill up soon. We ordered coffees to start. Good but strong. Was never offered a refill which was disappointing. We both ordered the breakfast burrito. Mine with mushrooms and my husbands with the chorizo. I loved mine. Just the right amount of everything. My husband found his too salty but nothing a good dash of hot sauce won't fix. I was disappointed there was no side with it. Would have made it more of a meal. We will be back to try some of the other offerings.

Yelp
Lazy Daisy's Café is absolutely worth the hype--the food is incredible! The breakfast sandwich was easily the best I've ever had, and I can see why people are willing to wait. That said, the wait experience could use some improvement. We were told it would be a 35-minute wait, so we settled in patiently. After 45 minutes, I checked in and was told it would just be a little longer. At the one-hour mark, I followed up again, only to find out they had called the wrong number (even though I gave the correct one). They seated us quickly after that, but it was a bit frustrating to wait longer than expected due to a mix-up. Once seated, the service was okay, but there were some hiccups--our food came out before drinks, no one offered coffee refills, and we had to ask for the bill at the end. On a positive note, the café is very kid-friendly (a big plus!), though the bathroom being downstairs might be inconvenient for families. Despite the bumps, the food was absolutely worth the wait. If you go, just plan for a potentially long wait and stay on top of check-ins! It's a small price to pay for such amazing food.

Yelp
Cute decor and delicious food. The service was okay, but a bit slow. I started with a chai latte that came out with a pretty cinnamon daisy on top. The latte itself was flavourful and frothy. I then ordered the standard breakfast with sourdough bread, Mennonite bacon, and two eggs over hard. The eggs came back over medium, still very runny yolks. I didn't have the chance to complain as the server didn't return to the table until we were finished eating. I also ordered a side roasted garlic & Asiago buttermilk biscuit. The biscuit was absolutely amazing. The best biscuit I've ever had, hands down. The butter was perfect and the Asiago cheese added a nice touch. My friend ordered the cinnamon bun pancakes and said that they were delicious. I will definitely need to return to try them myself! I ended the brunch by ordering another chai latte and a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. The cookie was chewy and paired perfectly, dipped in my latte.

Yelp
Quaint spot with food that tastes grandma's recipes. Anything and everything with a biscuit tastes great. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Lazy Daisy's is a great brunch spot located in the Beaches area. I tried their Mothercluckin Sandwich which came with a salad on the side and I enjoyed both the sandwich and the salad. My friends tried their coffee in addition to the sandwich and salad and they really liked it as well. Our server was very friendly and attentive and we loved the cute daisy themed decor. I would definitely recommend grabbing brunch here.

Yelp
The food is so good. We've gotten delivery a few times from here and three finally got a chance to sit down. Very cute interior with egg/flowers on the wall. Pretty pastel colours on the walls. The food was tasty! The pancake was stellar! This place is defiantly kid friendly! They have a baby/child menu to pick from. Wide walk way which is nice if you have a stroller to bring into.

Yelp
If you're coming here for the pancakes ,you will be highly satisfied. They are SO good !! My kids got the chocolate chip banana pancakes, and I got the cinnamon pancakes with cream cheese on top and a strawberry on the side. They were both incredible. Their coffee is actually pretty darn good too, and you all know me I'm at Timmy Ho's girl. I don't usually drink any other coffee, then Tim Hortons but how much to my surprise this place has pretty good coffee .I can actually drink it. And thanks to being a "Yelpie /Yelper" I got a free large one just for checking in. I also got the standard breakfast which I believe came with two eggs ,two pieces of yummy toast, and three slices of bacon . I'm not big on bacon, so I let my boys each have one and I just had one. It was good. The eggs were not light and fluffy. They were pretty flat and bland. The toast that was very good. I got the multigrain instead of the sourdough toast, and it was very very good. So unfortunately, I would not get the eggs again but as far as the pancakes, heck yeah I would get them And coffee. It was definitely over priced by a lot. I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the whole menu, Unfortunately, she took them away too fast. But you can see my receipt in my pictures I posted and it came to $90 plus in Canadian money, which was $77 in American money. For that amount of food, and the fact that the eggs were not very good at all, and I got a very small portion. It definitely was not worth it. But I would come back like I said for the delicious pancakes. So, if you're a pancake lover, I highly recommend Lazy Daisy's Cafe. The waitresses were nice too, but very slow workers. And they would leave you just sitting there for the longest time when you're ready to go before they brought you your check.

Yelp
Lovely time at Lazy Daisy, the ambiance was adorable, service was so lovely and the food was really nice! Pancake size was huge and they do half stacks as well! The biscuits on the sandwiches were so buttery and crispy and the prices were pretty decent for the portions. Will definitely be back!

Jess M.

Yelp
Cute place! Love the decor. Latte is okay. A bit noisy though. Service so far so good. Looking forward to eating the biscuits.

Yelp
I can see why people go crazy over Daisy: her buttermilk biscuits are heavenly - crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, juuust a bit crumbly, and oh so BUTTERY!!! Stopped by for breakfast and took out: - Rise and Shine: Egg and cheese and loads of bacon sandwiched by their heavenly buttermilk biscuits? Yes please! - Mother Clucker: Their take on a chicken sandwich... which was alright. My biggest beef was the chicken was overly crisped to the point that some of the edges tasted a bit burned. That said, chicken was moist on the inside, there was a whole lotta other filling, and it was a good size albeit a bit pricey. Service was pretty quick, though suggest ordering ahead since the lineups and wait times can get a bit long on the weekend. But man those biscuits make it worth it!
google avatar

Nibo S.

Yelp
My partner and I had a fabulous Saturday brunch at Lazy Daisy's café. We ordered the rise n' fry and the standard with a buttermilk pancake on the side. Every component of the rise n' fry was perfect! The fried chicken was perfectly golden and so so juicy on the inside. The Jalapeno biscuit was delicious, soft and buttery. The buttered sourdough toast on the standard plate was flavorful, and the pancake was perfectly fluffy. The place is also charming, bright and wonderfully decorated. Our service was fast and very friendly. We will be returning.

Yelp
That heart dropping feeling when what you came for is sold out :( This has happened to me a few times. But this occasion I was especially gutted because chicken, which was the star of the show on so many of their items were sold out. If you check the pics of the fried chicken breakfast sandwiches, it looks unreal... so sad Instead we had: Son of a Rise: This was a pretty basic breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato on a buttermilk biscuit. The biscuits were good (I'm not a huge fan of biscuits but these were very buttery but quite dense) Daisy's Mac N Cheese Grilled Cheese: This had lots of flavor, the crust was crispy but mac and cheese was super ooey and gooey and super cheesy. I'll still venture back to try their fried chicken sandwich and hope they don't run out of chicken the next time lol. Overall: 7.8/10

Mary V.

Yelp
The service is 2/5 . We had to wipe our own table. It was sticky from the maple syrup. My coffee - a flat white - was, well, ugly. And bitter. Also, too small for the price. The server was not remotely even trying to appreciate our business; she wasn't rude, but she wasn't outstanding. Apparently the food is good, but I didn't have any. Last thing: the ketchup bottle. It was a real turn off. And the top was caked enough with old ketchup that I knew it wasn't from one day. Since the food has a good review, and I didn't have any, I'd be prepared to return for that. And to see the improvement in the service and the maintenance of the place.
google avatar

Kat J.

Yelp
We tried this place through work for lunch. I got the SON-OF-A-RISE breakfast sandwich. Egg, melted aged white cheddar & Mennonite smoked bacon, avocado & tomato on homemade buttery country biscuit. The biscuit was flaky and buttery and everything was cooked perfectly! I can't wait to try it again and maybe try something else from the menu!

Alana H.

Yelp
No reservation was necessary! The service was great and the food was delicious with great portions. They have indoor and outdoor seating, so if the weather permits it's always nice to have that option. Small restaurant so if you're going with a group over 4, I would call ahead. Overall, I would definitely recommend giving Lazy Daisy's a try!
google avatar

Yelp
I was at a biscuit tasting event last time I was at Lazy Daisy's and I had a very good experience. They served fantastic biscuits that I took home to my partner. We both fell in love with the biscuits at Lazy Daisy's and vowed to come back one day to try their famous breakfast sandwiches. An opportunity presented itself this week and we made the trek down to Lazy Daisy's and ordered their breakfast sandwiches to go with some coffee. It was amazing (why am I even surprised?) we would even go as far as to say best breakfast sandwich in Toronto? Even the coffee was great--not the usual diluted milk foam that cafes are so fond of serving these days. Lazy Daisy's is so good in fact, my partner and I briefly entertained the idea of moving to the neighborhood just so we can frequent the cafe. Not to mention, Dawn who owns the cafe, is super nice. Five stars all around.
google avatar

Dave R.

Yelp
Everyone in Toronto (and surrounding) area should Know Daisy's by now. From my experience the service is friendly, even when the restaurant is packed, which we can all appreciate. Order anything on a biscuit and thank me later. The Cinnamon Bun Pancakes are another standout, for sure! The breakfast sandwiches are my go-to and the Rise N' Fry with that spectacular fried chicken is a current favourite!

Yelp
LDC has been recommended by multiple people but we just didn't find the right time. Today was the day! A little "busier" than most brunch places, this is more of a help yourself brunch. You seat yourself and then order from the counter. The flow of the set up is a bit peculiar - you order near the back of the restaurant but picking up your drinks is at the front; which creates some trouble when their lineup starts queuing up. Upon ordering, you're given a number and your orders are brought to your table. I saw some of the servers looking a little stressed when they're holding multiple plates and couldn't find "their" number. It's not much of a "let's sit and chat for a while" brunch spot as the turnover rate is quite high as people waiting basically hover. Anyway, enough of the set up. The hubby definitely wanted a handmade biscuit and I wanted to try the pancakes. Obviously we split the two and the biscuit sandwich was super yummy. The combine was pretty basic, though their Mennonite bacon deserves a strong shoutout. Pilot coffee (light or dark roast) is what they serve which is so nice to see LDC supporting other local options. I'd probably come back for other sandwich options but I'd probably pass on the combine. Oh, and beware, we left smelly a little greasier than we had arrived. They do have an open kitchen so I guess it's a bit of a given. PT, it's worth a stop during a biking trip! Not sure about a date....there are lots of other options in the area for that
google avatar

Michelle J.

Yelp
For the most part the sandwiches were delicious! The biscuits were the best part of the meal. The fries and Mac & cheese needed salt, and just average. It was too pricey for my liking $50+ for two sandwiches and two sides, no coffee! Plus the bacon was precooked and too hard. Might come back, but only for the biscuits.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a holiday Monday. It was busy but we were able to get a table (we came around 11am). The daisy themed decor was so cute and definitely photo worthy. Server was nice and knowledgeable. Food came out quick and was very good. The cinnamon bun pancakes were fun (I got the short stack because though yummy they were very sweet). The son-of-a-rise was also very good - I recommend adding the garlic mayo! Also the bacon was cooked to perfection. Drinks were also good - I got the flat white, though expensive for a small cup was delicious. Overall came to about 65 (before tax/tips) for three entrees and 3 drinks. The only small issue was that the drinks came out near the end of our meal because they were so busy.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere of the place, many photo opportunities with how they have designed the place. The food was delicious. the biscuit was our ultimate favorite. The service was quick and very friendly.

Yelp
I have found my newest favourite breakfast sandwich place in the city...and just thinking about it makes me drool! Lazy Daisy's Cafe is this amazing spot in the east end of Toronto that specializes in some of the best breakfast sandwiches & pancakes you'll eat. Some of the items I got included: Cinnamon Bun Pancake (unbelievable!), Mother Clucker (Fried Chicken), Son of a Rise Breakfast Sandwich, Hungry Farmer (the fathers club on a buttermilk biscuit), breakfast Burrito, and orange juice. They also have a general store where you can get your essentials that we all need right now. Some of their products include: bread, buttermilk biscuits, dairy, juice, coffee, tea, produce, pantry items, and so much more! What I truly came here for was their delicious breakfast sandwiches and pancakes... I'd highly recommend checking this place out ASAP....supposedly it gets very busy on the weekends so plan your trip accordingly. Enjoy the tasty food!

Jacqui L.

Yelp
I forgot the name of the meal I got but it was fried chicken, biscuit, side salad and mac n cheese all in one for about $22. Everything was delicious except the chicken was not as tasty as I had hoped. It was very crispy which would have been great except when you cut into it, everything fell off so it wasn't a part of the chicken anymore. The portion was a bit small for fried chicken (though it's deceiving in the pic, it was mostly batter) but the rest of the meal made up for it. The biscuit was by far the best thing ever... I would definitely come back just to eat that! Service was okay, lots of young staff that are still learning the ropes. Great atmosphere and lots of tables. Happy we got a table on Saturday at 1pm. Lots of street parking and also a green P nearby.

Yelp
6 stars!!! A 10-year anniversary renovation takes this place over the top! Same great menu with a few additional items, and now table service!

Yelp
This cute cafe was definitely quite busy, but the staff were very attentive to our needs and order. The cafe itself isn't the biggest, but the ventilation could be a lot better. It was actually a bit hot but the food made up for it. The fried chicken was very crispy and moist but maybe could have been seasoned a bit better. Their biscuit was buttery and not too strong. Their mac and cheese was also really good and not too heavy. The salad was a bit bland but did the job to cover the veggie need. Over all a solid place for brunch and would go back if I was in the area
google avatar

Nam H.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and had their breakfast sandwiches and they are amazing. It's all about their buttery biscuits. I was really excited to try their Mother Clucker fried chicken sandwich. Although the chicken was slightly burnt, it still tasted good. I also tried the Hungry Farmer sandwich, and that one was really surprisingly good. Fresh chicken, delicious bacon and garlic aioli. Yum!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is the real deal and it starts with the way Dawn, the owner, makes all the staff own what they are doing and serving. Personally I am addicted to the ham and green onion biscuits. They are amazing. You can just eat them without adding anything. They are moist and full of flavour. This morning I had the Mother Clucker. The chicken here is moist and the batter is crunchy! I love the contrast the pickles make on this sandwich. A special shout-out to my server Mel. One of two Mel's working this morning. She was knowledgeable and attentive without being in your face. A wonderful server!

Yelp
My go to at Lazy Daisy cafe is the BLT because they have this wonderful butcher cut bacon. I ordered online for pick up. The is the second time I requested double toasted and it wasn't toasted. I did call & she said to come back and they would fix it but I was already home not looking for a freebie. They used to sell just the sandwich for $10 I think. Now you got to order it for $13 and pick salad or fries. Not really digging that. Nice neighbourhood spot.

Yelp
I am someone who has a child. A two year old boy, to be exact. So when I heard about Leslieville's Lazy Daisy's as being voted #1 Best Kid-Friendly Restaurant 2018 by NOW Toronto, I was like "take me there now." They are also known for having an incredibly good breakfast sandwich. If you ask me, this all adds up to a haven for parents who still want to visit great places to eat - even with a tiny child in tow. The idea at Lazy Daisy's is to bring the spirit of the farm to the community in the city. This means farm fresh vegetables, locally sourced and seasonal, the meats naturally raised, drug & hormone free, and pastries all handmade with only the finest ingredients. I was very much looking forward to visiting them on a Sunday morning. Located in a super cute and hip area, surrounded by super cute and hip businesses, Lazy Daisy's Café is adorable right from the start. The entire vibe is "rustic barnwood chic" which pairs perfectly with everything that they believe in. The large space is bright and lively, the teal walls feel joyful while the exposed brick and distressed wood keeps things very down-to-earth. My eyes immediately searched for evidence of a kid-friendly room and I instantly found what I was looking for; plenty of highchairs, tons of toys and books, and the pièce de résistance? A full Thomas wooden railway table near the back of the restaurant. My son was in instant heaven. Their large counter serves as a viewing area for all of their fresh baking and is also where you go to place your order. There are several chalkboard menus to peruse, offering lots of breakfast options and also plenty of choices for lunch. You'll also find a great kid's menu, of course. I noticed one of those machines that makes fresh-squeezed orange juice, and while I'm partial to a chai latte, I couldn't refuse a glass of Fresh OJ ($5.75). Available in tree sizes, I took a medium. Can't go wrong with this sweet, sweet freshness! It makes orange juice from a carton look silly. One small issue is that my mason jar had a chip in the glass and I had to avoid sipping from the sharp edge. I realize that I could have returned my glass for a different one but I didn't bother. Once your order is placed, you are given a number to place on your table. You are free to seat yourself wherever you want. We sat next to the train table, of course, which was ideal. My son played happily while the adults were able to sit and relax with our food and beverages. I can't think of anything better for a parent! Lazy Daisy's serves a brunch menu on the weekends which is a bit more involved compared to their weekday menu. You'll find everything from pancakes to quiche to sandwiches and more. I gravitated to the breakfast sandwiches since they sounded great and I'd heard good things. There wasn't much question that the Son-of-a-Rise (Best of both Rises! Free-run egg, cheddar & Mennonite smoked bacon, avocado & tomato on a homemade buttery country biscuit. - $9.95) was the sando for me. After a reasonable wait, my breakfast sandwich arrived. My sando sat, simple and beautiful, waiting for me to dive in. I did just that, enjoying each and every bite! All of the classic breakfast flavours of bacon (nice and crisp!) and eggs worked together in perfect harmony. The cheddar brought some much-desired melty sharpness. And the avocado and tomato added a bright freshness. The biggest surprise for me was the country biscuit. I usually shy away from a biscuit-type situation, as I usually find them way too dense and bready, taking away from the other ingredients. Not so in this case. This homemade country biscuit was incredibly buttery and delicious. Yes, it still had the denseness of a biscuit but in this case it complimented the other ingredients to create something truly delicious. Each table in the restaurant is adorned with a bottle of Cholula hot sauce, which I used to dip my 'wich into for a bit of added kick. I could eat this sandwich every day. I will certainly return to Lazy Daisy's Café. The food was delicious and I actually got to blissfully enjoy eating while my son was completely preoccupied. I absolutely love their farm fresh, local and all natural vibe. Obviously this is the kind of food that I prefer that my family eats. I really liked that there's a sign on the wall that shows exactly where all of the farms are located that their products come from. They've got a B.L.T. sandwich on the menu that I'd love to try. My only caution would be to non-parents. If you're not into the "family scene" this may not be the place for you. Many families flock to this cafe and you should expect to be eating among them. The food is good enough to make it worth it!

Yelp
We got a spot immediately on a Saturday afternoon. Service was slow for no reason and we waited 40 mins for the food to come. The servers kept brushing us off when we kindly asked them to follow up on our order. The most disappointing thing is the fried chicken sandwich (mother clucker) and the hungry farmer sandwich both came out cold. The daisy buttermilk biscuits were underwhelming and really hard to bite down. Fried chicken was burnt and cold. I bet the food was just sitting there this whole time and no one brought it to our table. We had high hopes for this place. So very disappointed. Will never return again.

Yelp
Those biscuits are what dreams are made of. I have never tasted a more delicious sandwich than the ones made of their biscuits. I'll be dreaming of biscuits tonight for sure.

Yelp
Be warned: this review is based solely on the ONE item of theirs that I have tried. Because of it, I have yet to try anything else on the menu... and this item, friends, is the Mother Clucker. With a name like that, you KNOW this sandwich HAS to be good, right? Be warned: this is not for anyone with a heart condition. It is the perfect blend of sweet & savoury, with the crispiest, juiciest fried chicken (with just the slightest kick) and then.. you get the bread & butter pickles, all tucked into a delicious biscuit. I have had this twice in 3 weeks, and will likely have to eat salads for the rest of the month because of it. Worth it.

Yelp
A group of us ordered some breakfast sandwiches from Lazy Daisy's Cafe. We ordered via phone, instead of ubereats. As I got there, there were a lot of ubereats drivers waiting for their order. I was unsure how to get my takeout phone order, so I called them and asked. They told me to just walk right in. Keep in mind, this location is very tiny. There were around 3 people inside and I just felt so cramped in there, especially because of social distancing. I picked up my order and headed home. Once I got home, I quickly realized they missed an order. We called back and told them that one order is missing, they asked if we are willing to come back. There was a tornado warning that Sunday afternoon, so we asked if we could get the deliver fee waived and we will order more food with them as this was their error. They said no to waiving the delivery fees. At this point, they were unwilling to accommodate and everyone was hangry. As well, I always tip for the takeout. It's just a bummer that I tipped them and still received TERRIBLE customer service. One person ended up missing out on their breakfast sandwich, and we had to COOK something ourselves. That was disappointing - we were looking forward to Lazy Daisy's. Our experience here was not the best, and will probably never order here again. It is quite pricy for what it is and the customer service just wasn't there. Food: It was so disappointing that we did not take any photos ... the biscuit was too greasy.

Yelp
Awesome cafe. They really care about their customers. Highly recommend the biscuit sandwiches. They're to die for and a real game changer! The lattes are also really good too.

Yelp
Food was nice and fresh. They could benefit by adding some non-pork meat options to their menu. They offer great coffee and expresso items. Freshly squeezed orange juice is a very good option as well. Very kid/ family friendly.

Yelp
Hands down, best breakfast in Toronto. Everything was sooo delicious. The quality, quantity, presentation of food, the friendly staff and delicious coffee exceeded our expectations!

Yelp
This place has the feel of a coffeehouse, but it's more of a restaurant than that. It's a great weekend brunch spot if you're looking for a place you can drop into quickly and easily without having to wait around for half the day. Delicious but no frills. The breakfast sandwiches here are delicious, as mentioned by another reviewer. The biscuits are so tasty! Everything here is made with simple but organic and locally sourced ingredients. For instance, they have fresh Mennonite bacon. It makes for simple but delicious food. They also have delicious fresh-squeezed orange juice. Definitely a nice go-to.

Yelp
What a cute, cozy, and delicious café! I stumbled upon this place on Yelp when another restaurant in the area had too large of a line on Good Friday. I am so impressed by this café! My group was a party of 4 and a baby. You seat yourself, place your order at the counter where you pick up your drinks and food it brought to your table when ready. The space is kid friendly with enough space to place a stroller, although tight, and there is a small play area for kids. I ordered the country spice sandwich with an egg on sourdough bread. Our group also got a tall stack of banana chocolate chip pancakes that we shared. Everything was delicious!! This café has an award for their sandwiches, and I can believe it. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Was in the area and came across this little quaint cafe. Came at around 9:30am on a Sunday and it was already a full house! Luckily we were able to snag a seat by the wall. This cafe is family oriented and kid-friendly (in the back corner there's a play place). How it works is that you order at the front and then grab a seat. Water is self serve and if you order coffee/drinks, you have to go pick it up the front. Food will be delivered to your table. Service was excellent- quick and friendly. The food we got: - son of a rise (breakfast sandwich) this was so good, the bread they used was like the Popeyes biscuit, but more sweet. Bacon was also flavourful and delicious. - chilli (cashier said it was a seasonal item, we thought it was okay...) - green acre salad. The dressing was amazing, made the salad more light and refreshing. - large fresh brew (free with a check in on Yelp!!!) - large orange juice (freshhhhh!) Bill came up to around $35, but it was worth it cause everything tasted fresh, healthy and delicious! Would recommended if you're in the area (the neighbourhood is also very colourful and cool).

Yelp
Dawn and the gang are such wonderful hosts and I just love the cozy home vibes of this Little India cafe (miss sitting here pre-covid). I always come for the amazing homemade biscuit breakfast sandwiches and end up taking home so many goodies! Thanks Dawn!

Yelp
Comfy comes to mind.. Lot of white women with their babies. So noise, sound can be annoying. Coffee was very good.

Yelp
Disappointing coffee and service ever!! It was super busy saturday afternoon. I lined up and waited 5min and order my coffee extra ice and long shot as usual. But even 10min later my iced coffee didnt ready so I asked the lady ... my iced latte coming. She looked forgot my order. But she didnt say sorry and told me it will be ready after another customer's drink. But I knew that the another customer was lined up way behind of me so it was very annoying and disappointing. Anyways she made my coffee in a very sloppy way.. And she almost threw the lid of cup and went away. I am regulr here almost 1 year but Never seen this rude before so embarassed. But it was okay cause it was busy and people can make a mistake I do understand that but the problem was coffee taste.... It was disappointing. No extra ice or no longshot. It was almost milk color. I used to recommend people this place but I am not sure from now. They are always super busy most weekend lunch time So dont expect good service or coffee. Sometimes I feel like this place is over hyped. Disappointing today!!
