Dog-Friendly Lazy Oaks Beer Garden Opens in Spring Branch - Eater Houston

"A new dog and kid-friendly bar called Lazy Oaks Beer Garden recently debuted in Spring Branch. The new laid-back digs are located at 10158 Long Point Road and feature a fenced lawn and patio shaded by large oak trees, which inspired the bar’s name no doubt. The bar accommodates 90 people inside and another 50 on the patio, and drinkers will find plenty of TVs for game-watching, cornhole, and shuffleboard. Lazy Oaks features, not surprisingly, 15 different beers on tap, plus a full bar. As far as food is concerned, burgers, tacos, salads, and appetizers like chips & queso are on offer, which were created by Chef Grant Keaton, formerly of Benjy’s. Standout menu items include house-smoked wings flavored with buffalo, espresso barbecue, and Thai curry sauces. Another interesting sounding dish starts with house-smoked brisket that’s wrapped in bacon before being smothered in neufchatel cheese, jalapeños, and something called “bacon crack sauce.” The bar is from Emily and Chris McReavy, founders of Public House Heights on White Oak, which opened in 2012. “There are quite a few restaurants and bars in Spring Branch, but honestly, nothing at all like this,” Chris said in a statement. Lazy Oaks Beer Garden operates Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to midnight; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Kids are welcome until 9:00 p.m. daily, after which the bar becomes 21 and older." - Alaena Hostetter

Great spot to relax with friends and enjoy the weather. Lazy Oaks has a laid-back vibe, solid selection of beers, and surprisingly good food (the burgers are 🔥). Plenty of outdoor seating, dog-friendly, and the staff is always friendly. Perfect place for a casual hangout or watching the game. Definitely one of my go-to spots in the area.

Google
Great casual/local place overall with good selection of drinks. However, I have to take away one star because of the parking which can be a hassle even during weekdays and unexpected hours, and also the quality of food which can be a bit better. It is reasonable for a bar, but I personally believe it could be a tad better. Service is usually very friendly and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seats.

Awesome evening at the Lazy Oaks Beer Garden with our our church group. Live music and great tacos!!! Highly recommend

Google
We had our quarterly work event here and everything was great. This was our chest time. I received a fast reply a few weeks ago when I reached out to reserve and was able to pre order all of our food. We arrived an hourly early by mistake but they quickly accommodated us. The food was fresh and yummy. Cocktails and drafts were on point. Very chill atmosphere, friendly staff an d service. Thank yall for having us!

Google
My wife and I were looking for a place to grab a bite for dinner and instead of the usual places we decided to go here instead, the place was wide open with plenty of seating. You order your food and drinks with the bartender then they bring it out to you. I was very impressed with the selection of beer on tap and the food was amazing. My only gripe is that I wish the beer was a bit colder, they were cold but not as cold as I’d expected. Great place and friendly atmosphere, definitely be back.

Google
They were out of more interesting draft brews and no flights so not too much for us here (we are a bit jaded I guess). The service was also a bit slow and not terribly friendly. The atmosphere is definitely a “converted 7-11” vibe so visiting in the day time doesn’t do the place any favors. That said we liked the pretzel and it does look like the burger special might be worth a try.

Google
Some of the best bar food I’ve had in Houston! Had to double check with my server, but the food is indeed made from scratch. They have an amazing burger reminiscent of an In N Out animal style. The fried chicken sandwich is also awesome! And the fries!! 🤤I’ve also tried some of their special dishes and was really impressed by the schnitzel. The service here is so friendly, attentive and unpretentious. Plenty of seating, televisions, open space (felt extremely safe there even sitting inside as there are large, open garage doors). They’re also dog friendly! A great neighborhood spot. They have overflow parking in the lot across the street.

Google
We liked this place. We're a family of four, with two young boys, so any place that has to room for them to move around a bit is a hit with us. I don't know if this was a special day, but they had a bounce house for the kids. Plus there was some hula hoops, a balloon maker, a small play house, and unicorn snow cones was there too. Wife and I got the lazy oaks burger (think it was called that). Pretty good. We also shared some fries. Boys got hot dogs. No complaints. Only reason I have it a 4 was because it seems a tad small, especially parking. There seems to be parking across the street, but not sure if that's permanent or people are just doing that. We'll probably be back, especially when it's a bit cooler. I want to try some of their other menu items (especially the BBQ ones) and I wouldn't mind going in the evening sans kids either.

Yelp
Parking is rough, but once you find a spot, Lazy Oaks Beer Garden is a great place to be! It has a neighborhood feel--they definitely have an advantage with this though, because it's literally nestled into a neighborhood. Definitely family friendly too, they have quite the playground set up! Inside or outside, the staff is super attentive. The drinks, both the beer selection and signature cocktails, are great as well as their food. Lazy Oaks is a wonderful place to consider if you're looking for a spot to meet up with a friend, a group of adults, or another family! There's something for everyone!

Yelp
A terrific spot to gather some friends to grab some brews, a cocktail, or some grub. They had a lot of local beers on tap and staff was very knowledgeable. The outdoor space is likely a bit too warm in the summer, but we took full advantage of the cool weather and made the most of it.

Yelp
Orders over internet got backed up so sat & waited & then went to counter & ordered. 3 chicken Tacos were delicious & packed full of meat! The chips & queso was yummy! The portion look small at first but we couldn't even finish it (3 ppl). We chose this place due to being dog friendly. Great patio & kid friendly.

Yelp
As a quintessential neighborhood bar in Spring Branch, I could see many reasons why I'd be at Lazy Oaks Beer Garden often. Many of those reasons include a relaxed ambiance, a versatile space, affordable drinks, and no-nonsense service. All of those things make me wish I lived in the area. It might not look like much from the outside, but the place has a lot going on for it. The divey charm here lends itself to the old school, nostalgic vibe that some folks tend to want. The outdoor seating is extensive and is an ideal place for groups that want to drink outside. The patio makes the place pet friendly and kid friendly, which practically means families should enjoy their time here as well. Most of their drinks are under $10, which includes their selection of beers and cocktails. I enjoy the extensive beer taps, decent ventilation, and friendly bartenders. Their food selection includes sandwiches, tacos, wings, salads, and comfort foods, such as mac and cheese, truffle fries, and fried brussel sprouts. Parking can get a little tight, so I'd consider their dedicated lot or parking across the street. It can be crowded on the weekends, but generally the place is very carefree with plenty of breathing room.

Yelp
I've finally come to find out why this local dive is continuously packed. This family friendly Beer Garden has an plenty of food options and local brewery staples to keep all of the family satisfied. Lots of outdoor seating that's dog friendly too. Plenty of TV's to watch the game, whatever it might be. Walkable to everyone who lives in the neighborhood and a decent bit of parking for all but those super busy days. The food itself is done well. I'm not gonna say it was surprisingly good, but it really does hit all the marks I expected. Nothing is too oily or greasy, fries are crisp. Sauces are yummy and they have enough different options that are good. Beers and drinks are super well priced. I didn't feel like I was getting gouged at all. Cocktails are all $9 or under which feels like a throwback at this point. The true MVP for me though was the ordering system, which is done on the phone entirely. Scan the QR code on the table and you can keep a running tab of food and drinks that all get brought out to your table whenever you place an order. This made things so simple, no tracking down a waiter or having to wrestle your way to the bar to get more beer. You don't have to leave your kids outside unattended or miss a second of baseball on the TV. Super convenient and affordable, as well has having Immaculate Vibez.

Yelp
Their website says they have steak night on Thursdays. So I recently went in to try it out. There is no steak night anymore I learned. This was very disappointing. Bartender commented many ask and the website needs to be updated. Um yeah. Had some bar food which was typical bar food. Definitely not what I had in mind. I brought my dog since it is a dog friendly place. There are very strict rules posted such as no barking whatsoever is allowed. My dog is sweet and calm. However like all dogs she will bark especially letting me know when she needs to go take care of business. Won't be back ever.

Yelp
The perfect neighborhood bar! Great prices and the food is excellent. You walk in and select your seat, no reserved seating. On Wednesday nights they host trivia. There is plenty of parking and both indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely worth checking this place out!

Yelp
Low prices. Neighborhood bar. Fast service. Pretty attractive bartenders. Chips were stale.

Yelp
I came here to meet with some associates last week and had a very pleasant experience. They had nonalcoholic offerings for me which I appreciated and a great Michelada mix. You order through QR codes on the table and can close your tab out or leave it open through that, with no need to actually walk up to the bar. I really liked that as we were meeting so we could order without having to get up from the table! Service was prompt and the staff was friendly. I got the three tacos meal and would say that it was good value and good quality food. We originally were going to sit outside, but there were no heaters out there on a chilly night. That would be my only suggested improvement for the space, but they might have just not have them out because it was a singular cold night during an otherwise warm week. Will be back.

Yelp
Served my theatre troupe and I am forever grateful. I can't believe how great this food is it's just truly a life changing experience!!!!

Yelp
Great staff, excellent draft selection. Fantastic bites & atmosphere. Would definitely visit again. Family friendly.

Yelp
This one is a regular in our friend group rotation. Always solid. Friendly staff and food that shouldn't be as good as it is. Only minor thing is they often have children's birthdays, many kids running around at a bar is off putting. Overall 5 stars and I will be back.

Yelp
Perfect neighborhood bar, period. I have been coming here for the past 3 years when I moved to the area. There are parking spots in front of the bar, but you can also park it the lot across the street (this greatly helps and I've never not been able to find parking). They have a good sized indoor space, outdoor space, some covered outdoor space, and plenty of TVs; nice bathrooms too. You order via QR code at your table and someone brings out your food and drinks - very easy and convenient! Plus, everyone is so friendly and helpful. They have tasty food too; I especially love their chicken sandwich and burger, but their salads and appetizers are fantastic as well. I have also coordinated 2 events here and they were very easy to contact and help organize. Can't say enough great things! They also do trivia.

Yelp
Lazy Oaks is a cute little neighborhood bar tucked away in a subdivision off Gessner. They have a super cozy and relaxed atmosphere. This used to be a tiny convenient store years ago, run by an older gentleman. It's always strange going into a place after a remodel like this. They did a terrific job. They have a nice sized patio directly off the main interior. The garage It is shaded well with plenty of seating. Lazy Oaks is dog friendly, so take your pooch out for a good time too. The inside bar top is a nice size to seat you and your friends. The service is always great! I love the friendliness of all the staff. In the 4 times I have been here, I have not ever tried the food, but it looks good. Say hello to the resident cats when you stop by. They are a little timid, but very sweet.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood bar in Spring Branch with food options and a full bar. Very family oriented with a playground set off from the other outdoor areas and plenty of televisions indoor and out. Had very much a neighborhood, family vibe. Not a bad thing. I imagine that fades around or before 9pm though.

Joseph M.

Yelp
Like the food and drinks here. Convenient to walk down the street. But... if you expect to receive attentive service, don't sit at the bar if they are busy. You will pretty much get ignored. Amazed that 4 wait staff can walk by empty glasses over and over again.
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
First time here and I will definitely return. Pros: Lovely space inside and out. The patio area is the perfect spot especially when the weather is as nice as it has been this Spring Break week. The food is amazing. Everything came out hot and delicious. We ordered the Carnitas tacos, Flautas, Wings (Korean BBQ/Buffalo), Brussel Sprouts (so yummy) and the Onion Rings. Friendly, quick service. As soon as we put our beer/drink orders in a server would be dropping it off within a minute or two. Pretty impressive. App makes ordering and paying so easy. Cons: None Overall: Great spot for relaxing and enjoying a bite to eat and a cold beverage while catching up with friends.

Yelp
It's at the end of Long Point nestled with the last Long Point businesses next to a residential area. Plenty of parking onsite and across Long Point in a parking lot. Big screens for sports inside and out. Didn't sit outside, but it was also busy. I sat at the bar and watched an Astros playoff game. Has a full menu. I had Topo Chicos and the Spinach and Artichoke Dip with chips. OK stuff. Pleasant service. A good crowd of fans, not rowdy, but sporting.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Sunday night. The garden was packed with people but there were plenty of seats at the bar. I had a couple local pints and a Reuben, which was soo good. They make the dressing and the corned beef in house. Fun vibes, friendly bartenders. Would definitely be a regular here if I were local!

Yelp
Looking for a chill place to drink and relax after a long week? COME HERE! Tonight's my first time and I love this place. I've been to a bunch of other bars and they don't match the ambiance like Lazy Oaks does. The service is so quick and friendly. We did not order food (we ate at memorial tacos that's why) but we will be ordering food next time! Also, there is a cute black cat named brisket who walks outside around the bar and he is so adorable so be nice to him too! Check this place out Yelpers!!!

Yelp
Stumbled across this place when the other local beer gardens were closed. Great little stop. Beer was cold, food selection was good, the fried chicken sandwich was great. Only thing that could be improved is parking.
google avatar

Sametra B.

Yelp
A favorite of mine! Great place to unwind and have a quick drink! Love the atmosphere.

Yelp
Great little local find! We were looking for a spot where we could grab dinner and a beer outside, and a friend stumbled upon this place so we thought we would give it a try. In the times of COVID, it is sometimes hard to find a spot with ample outdoor seating. But this place definitely fit the bill! They had scannable menu QR code on the table that was directly linked to your table, so you could order food straight from the link! But there was also table service, so if you preferred you could order the old fashioned way. Love that they have both a pretty good food menu as well as a good beer list. Anyone who keeps Live Oak Hef on tap is a winner in my book! The food was good too. I split spinach and artichoke dip then had a wedge salad with chicken and avocado. Loved the ambiance with the string lights, good music, and muted flat screens with local games on. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place no longer has a steak night FYI. But still come for the drinks!! Love beer gardens

Yelp
Food was great. Relaxed atmosphere. Great place to chill. Tacos were cheap and good
google avatar

Yelp
Pleasant neighborhood beer garden. Plenty of parking and different seating arrangements. Only knock is every neighborhood parent seems to bring their kids, there were as many kids as adults insides

Rebecca V.

Yelp
I threw a small happy hour and couldn't have had a better experience. The service, food and drinks are great. And they made everything easy to plan. Thank you, Lazy Oaks!

Yelp
Met our adult children for an early lunch. Neat outdoor place. Out of a lot of items on menu. Food was good though. Brisket bites were good, not enough. (Not pictured). Burgers were small IMO and so was the parking lot. They do have parking available across the street. You scan, order and pay from table. Servers are nice. Food came out quickly. The servers did not come back to check on us, we had to go in to bar area to get refills. Now please allow me to rant. The rant is NOT about the restaurant, it is a rant about the patrons that got there after us. If not mistaken it was some type of realtor networking event. Everyone was friendly, probably 35+ in age so baffled by what we had to go through when we were ready leave the parking lot. It took at least 4 staff members, our son and daughter-in-law over 20 minutes after walking around and asking over and over again for the owners of white Hyundai and white Jeep that had blocked me and others in and a silver Ford F-150 4x4 that had blocked the whole parking lot exit. The owner of silver Ford ended up being a 60+ female and could have cared less. There was another white truck that had backed in that could have backed in further and would have helped with the situation. You would think people, especially older peeps would be aware of their surroundings and understand that they are not the only ones that had parked in the parking lot. It was lunch time, what if someone on their lunch hour & now late because of their actions. The owner of the white Hyundai was never found. Grateful to staff for helping & also that they were ready to call in the tow trucks to remove the inconsiderate customers' vehicles. They got lucky.

Yelp
Cute place with outdoor seating and it's dog & kid friendly. We took our fur & human kids to meet up with another family and their kids. We all enjoyed it until a big dog bit one of the 4 year kids. The dog's owner didn't even come over to ask if the kid was alright after she ran to her mom and cried. Cute fun place but Big dog-owners need to be more careful and aware. Or at least even seem to care when their dogs attack/ hurt a kid. All that aside, food was good. Lots of drink selections too
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Food and service was very good! We will def be back - beautiful outdoor space to bring kids to.
google avatar

Carla A.

Yelp
OMG!! How stiinkin' cute is this place. It is literally in the middle of a neighborhood, which is awesome! When I drove up I was kind of disappointed that there was no parking BUT there is parking diagonally across the street from there. I was also suppressed when I saw a kids jumping house. Yes! At a bar. LOL! It was absolutely perfect!!! Although I didn't have my kids with me, I know for sure I can bring them with me next time. Grown ppl party with room for kids to play. Awesome, right? TV's too! So, I had one of their specialty frozen drinks (twice) and it was Ah-May-Zing!! I'll be back to visit Lazy Oaks soon!!
google avatar

Victor H.

Yelp
I think I found my neighborhood drinking spot! After driving past here a few times from the gym, I finally stopped in here and I keep coming back. Everything about this joint is superb. Lotsa beer options, good bar food and brunch items, friendly bartenders, and neighborhood atmosphere with a playground for kids and an old school arcade system on the left side. Food wise, I recommend the wings and for brunch, the fried chicken biscuit which would put any other brunch item to bed. As for beers, the Axis IPA is a solid one. They also do trivia nights (Wednesday's I think) if you wanna get your Jeopardy on. Not much parking options but you can park on the street. Might be best to uber/lyft here if you're doing the smart thing!

Lily D.

Yelp
service here is shitty as hell. I was really feeling the place looked cute and nice and sadly as soon as They started to get a tad bit busy .. meaning 15% capacity the bar tender was really short and rude. Really made the experience a shitty one.

Stefanie M.

Yelp
Love this place! Great outdoor area for the kids to play. Great beers on tap, staff is super friendly, and the food is good!
google avatar

Jeanny G.

Yelp
this is my third visit to Lazy oaks beer garden and the experience gets better every time. it feels very chill and homey to me. they have plenty of space and chairs. We ordered the 3 for $9 tacos and they exceeded all expectations! sooo good! definitely recommend. another plus, they are kid friendly until 9pm!
google avatar

Holland K.

Yelp
What a spot! Friends and I came here after tennis and sat outside. TVs are inside and outside with popular sports games on. Dog friendly. You order at your table through barcode - food was brought out pretty quickly. Good beer selections and the food was awesome. Highly recommend the tacos, Mac n cheese, and queso to start.
google avatar

Shelby D.

Yelp
So I really like this place. It's right in my neck of the woods and I would definitely consider it a "craft bar". Probably about 20 or so beers on tap as well as liquor options. I was also surprised they had food! I ordered the three tacos. One of each and each one was delicious. Snagged a few fries from my husband and they were excellent as well. This place definitely has a chill intimate vibe. I love how Spring Branch is becoming the new "it place" to hangout. Even cooler that it's right in my backyard. Only drawback is that there is limited parking. They have more parking across the street though!
google avatar

Christy P.

Yelp
Soooo happy this place exists! Spring Branch has been in dire need of a neighborhood beer garden with food. That being said, the beer selection is on the smaller side and doesn't have a lot catering to IPA-drinkers. That's not a problem for me though, as I was in heaven with a frozen mango lime slush over a kolsch, which was their drink special. I ordered the grilled cheese, which had bacon jam and pimento cheese with a tomato soup aioli (which I ordered on the side). It was delicious! The bacon was a bit chunkier than I expected (not an issue), but it wasn't overly cheesy, which was nice. I also had a bite of the Thai curry wings, which were definitely spicy. They weren't my favorite, but not bad. The fries were solid. It took a little bit to get our food, but it was definitely not an intolerable wait, and they've only barely been open. The place was pretty full at 6:30 pm on a Friday. Everyone was lining up to order at the register when you first come in, but you can actually order at the bar from any bartender instead of forming a line. One surprising thing is that I didn't see anyone ordering the tacos--everyone was getting wings. I really wanted to try the cauliflower tacos, so someone please try and review them soon so I know for next time!

Mark H.

Yelp
Friendly and attentive service. Family friendly atmosphere. Rueben sandwich was just OK. Corned beef was a bit tough. Parking was difficult. There was a "fender bender" in the parking lot while we were there.

Sandy V.

Yelp
Great food great staff. Only issues is the location of the tvs. They are located above the bar. Really hard to watch the game while sitting at the bar

A T.

Yelp
I would have taken a picture of the wings but they were too good and then ate them all. I asked the bartender about the margarita machine. But it was not a margarita. It was a cherry limeade. Like a Sonic cherry limeade. This one has alcohol, though. Order it. It's good. Service is good. Parking is ok but who cares. Just park somewhere.
google avatar

Vlad V.

Yelp
Awesome food (get the tacos), mixed crowd, great atmosphere (indoor and out)... oh, and the beer. On point selection. If beer ain't ur thing, go for the mixed drinks, full bar. Great vibe in the place and very accommodating service team. The only downside was that "dolly" (pictured, name changed to protect her identity) wouldn't shake my hand. Don't know if this was due to COVID. You def want to stop by if your looking for a great chill spot. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
A very nice neighborhood beer garden/pub. I have been there twice and will return soon. There is additional parking across the street - but it is not clearly marked. Pros: Nice neighborhood feel with outside and inside seating. Full bar and a good selection of (mostly) local draft and bottle beers. A really good selection of pub fair. I had the burnt ends burger and the Classic Burger. The burnt ends burger was very tasty - if a bit dry. The Classic Burger was great with a thick tasty 6oz patty of good quality beef. They did nice crisp sear on the outside while still retaining a relatively juicy interior. It comes done to medium-well temperature unless you specify differently. The onion rings a very nice with a crisp coating. Cons: Prices are a little on the high side - but what isn't these days? The Classic burger is $11 for a 6oz burger. No fries or onion rings included! While the Onion rings are worth getting - skip the fries. They are overpriced and no better than fast-food fries. The food is a bit uneven, but I still really like the place.
google avatar

Neesa S.

Yelp
I love this place! My friend recently moved into the apartments down the street so I've been a few times now. Family friendly and nice selection of beer. Had the brisket tacos and it's something I would've typically not ordered but my friend wanted them and they were incredible. Excited to try more food off the menu. Parking is a little cramped but not a big deal.

Paula S.

Yelp
Food was ok Service was the worst I've seen The man behind the counter with a beard , dark hair could not have more rude . I would never go back . Although it was busy, the service could really be upgraded. Terrible
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Cute, fun, a little quiet when it comes to the service but everyone was friendly. I loved the cat roaming around!!! My turkey tacos were amazeballs but my husband's wedge salad was a hard pass. We'll def go back!!
google avatar

Joseph M.

Yelp
Really chill vibes here. Trivia on Wednesday. The food was delicious, and their specials go fast so try to get there early! Everyone was super friendly and genuine, a difficult combination to find. This seems like a neighborhood gem that I was lucky enough to stumble into! I'll be back for sure. A++
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
Been here only twice and late at night but I really like it. Very nice atmosphere and bartenders are cool (Thomas). It's also pretty spacious, there's several tables inside as well as a pretty big outdoor seating area. Best part of the whole establishment is the tuxedo cat.

Yelp
Love this place Neighborhood Feel Patio but also inside Both have TV's everywhere Great beer We didn't try the food but it looked good! People had there kids and dogs too But they were all well behaved!
