"I recently noted a new dog- and kid-friendly bar that debuted in Spring Branch; located at 10158 Long Point Road, it’s a laid-back spot with a fenced lawn and a patio shaded by large oak trees (the namesake). The bar holds about 90 people inside plus 50 on the patio, and offers plenty of TVs for game-watching along with cornhole and shuffleboard. Drink options include 15 different beers on tap and a full bar, while Chef Grant Keaton (formerly of Benjy’s) created a menu of burgers, tacos, salads and apps like chips & queso. Standout items are house-smoked wings with buffalo, espresso barbecue, and Thai curry sauces, and a house-smoked brisket wrapped in bacon then smothered in neufchatel cheese, jalapeños and a “bacon crack sauce.” The bar is run by Emily and Chris McReavy (founders of Public House Heights) and operates Sunday–Thursday 11 a.m.–midnight and Friday–Saturday 11 a.m.–2 a.m.; kids are welcome until 9:00 p.m. daily, after which it is 21+." - Alaena Hostetter
