"Perhaps Cardenas’s most famous standalone restaurant, though, has been Lazy Ox Canteen, the Little Tokyo hit-maker that gave Josef Centeno his first big jump and, after that, Spanish chef Perfecto Rocher. The place closed in 2014, but apparently Cardenas has been holding onto the Instagram page this whole time, because he’s now using it to promote a new restaurant — yep, the one coming to Studio City — under the new name Mister O’s." - Farley Elliott

This place is excellent. Some of the best food I have had in a long time. Each dish has a clear, yummy direction. The chef really knows how to pick and combine ingredients. Even when it is as simple as a can of sardines (with roasted bread, lime, salt and a salad), it's incredibly delicious. There are plenty of smaller dishes that are ideal for sharing...and you will want to share. Nothing I have had was less than fantastic. The service and the prices are also very good. The only thing I don't like is that it's a 2hr drive from my home. ;-)

Laxy Ox Canteen has a great chill atmosphere and it's conveniently located in Little Tokyo. Parking lots and metered parking is plentiful. The food can be hit or miss. Flavors can sometimes come off too strong or one note, in my opinion.

I’m a pretty picky eater, but when it comes to Lazy Ox I love trying new things on the menu. They never disappoint, and their meals are always really low price, plus healthy. It’s just an all-around great place to eat!

Had an decent lunch there, but the interesting menu is reserved for dinner. They have an interesting and moderately priced selection of Eastern European and other unusual wines.

High-quality, tapas-style plates. I believe they change regularly. Great place to come before a performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall or the Dorothy Chandler.

Unique menu, nice atmosphere, hip, and slightly over-priced... welcome downtown!
