UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT (as told by an employee).
The menu is a bit different than what you may have experienced before, and honestly the beignets taste different too. I will not be visiting again. I bought the No. 3 Beignet for $6. Under new management, they no longer offer any of their sauces on the side (honey, chocolate sauce, caramel...). I know real beignets are not supposed to be served with sauce on the side but it was a nice addition the previous owner offered.
Well my Beignets were dry, thick, and not good. It tasted like a piece of stale bread- and yes they were served piping hot so that was how it was meant to taste. I felt it was overcooked and a bit too doughy lending to that unpleasant thick taste with every bite. It's just not worth the price. Also my beignets had big holes in them and didn't look appealing. I always thought of beignets as bread like cloud pillows in powdery sugar, but these are bricks.
They now serve a red-velvet cream cheese Beignet called the bon-bon Rouge. It was horrible. They are 2 for $8 and tasted so gross. The cream cheese is way more sour than sweet. I had high hopes for this, but the beignet again was thick, almost like a bagel consistency and just tasted bad, not like red velvet or anything close to it.
They were sold out of pies when I was there so maybe those are good?
Staff was very attentive and I really appreciated their service but man, this place is just not cutting it anymore in the taste category. Also, the containers they come in at the bottom have holes, so...enjoy getting powdered sugar on everything you own.
