"Opening in Deep Ellum in a compact 600-square-foot space, this bakery focuses on a tight menu of two beignet varieties, coffee, and ice cream. Founded by New Orleans native Eric Khozindar to fill a gap for substantial beignet offerings in Dallas, the menu pairs a Café du Monde–inspired classic with a signature “Le Beignet” that’s flakier and more croissant-like, achieved through a three-day proofing process. New Orleans-style beverages such as chicory coffee and café au lait are made with local White Rock Coffee beans, while The Sweet House supplies six ice cream flavors—including pecan-praline, bananas foster, creole cream cheese, lemon icebox, and king cake as an ode to Mardi Gras. Design cues reference the French Quarter with plaster, subway tile framed in blue grout, and a glass facade scrawled with “Beignets,” and late hours (9 a.m.–11 p.m. Sun–Wed; until 3 a.m. Thu–Sat) echo the nighttime beignet tradition." - Tierney Plumb
