This place has a great selection of sweets chocolate and novelty goodies I love it here

My granddaughter , her mom and I visited after a meal. Times have changed. What happens to (1) piece only !? 😂 Now more like ($150.00) later. My girls got everything they wanted and tasty treats, with a few extras to take back to college. We all were snack’n and smack’n. 🍭🍬🍪🍫🧨

Google
Cramped little Candy store with pretend European assortments—everything is made with corn syrup, and everything is ridiculously overpriced, considering its bland flavors.

Google
You will find it they deliver on doordash, however, there's nothing finer than going in and it hand selecting some of the finest truffles in the Bay Area. Park two blocks down the hill and take the walk. Enjoy :-) George

Google
Small candy shop filled with all sorts of sweets. Gelato was excellent- love the super cute $1.50 bite size cone. Great customer service and nice atmosphere.

Google
Great local confissierie. Helpful staff and choice morsels that make deciding difficult (but then, I have yet to have a truffle I didn't like).

Google
Incredible candy store. High end items, and a great variety. A bit pricy, but overall quite fair. My favorite place to get chocolate-covered honeycomb.

Google
Great selection and quality. A fun place to stop by while walking through the village and a wonderful place to purchase a gift for a friend or yourself.

Yelp
I had a very pleasant experience in this store. Tee was very helpful and pleasant. They have a broad variety of chocolates (normal and sugar-free) and Gelato (Ice Cream) all products of the highest quality.

Yelp
My dad's friend came over from Taiwan looking for Godiva Chocolates to bring back. Le BonBon is the only place nearby that sells a variety of Godiva gift sets! My dad's friend was very pleased with the selection!

Yelp
Typical small chocolate and candy shop and they make nice chocolates. My only complaint is these three one bite chocolates were $14 with tax which is too much for so little.

Yelp
Le Bonbon is a destination for anyone who likes chocolates, candies, or gelato. there's also truffles, jelly belly, bulk candy, chocolate bars, chocolate covered candies, godiva chocolates, marzipan, & black licorice licks: vanilla bean gelato (3.99) fiorellos, family made --tasted full flavored initially. -when it was melting, the remnants weren't so flavorful. take outs: -kids, chocolate addicts will luv this place.

Yelp
Kinda like an independently owned Rocky Mountain chocolate factory except some of the chocolates are from Godiva (hence the giant godiva sign on their roof) plus some commercial candy and self-serve chocolates, etc. My kids loved it (they like It'Sugar) but I did find the candy less than fresh, and the service unfortunately inattentive when we were there (the cashier seemed distracted and it took me a few calls to get her attention so that we could get rung up). Liked the novelty and the small business factor, as well as the kid appeal.

Yelp
Please carry more good *dark* chocolate (80% or more)! Happy to support this local shop. Pleasant interactions with clerks.

Yelp
This is one of the beer free chocolate shops that sell chocolate covered cherries. HUGE fan.

Shayan H.

Yelp
Great local owned small business. Always love going in and supporting the few remaining independent chocolate shops. Only place to grab high quality chocolate. The best batch is small batch crafted chocolate with quality that speaks for itself.

Yelp
What a sweet little candy shop! Really small but great selection of truffles, chocolates and candies. They even have ice cream! Great service too and just feels like an old school experience. Love it.

Yelp
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! I truly like having an old fashioned candy shop in the Village, however, I went in yesterday and didn't get what I asked for and was charged $5. for one small piece of chocolate bark. I asked about the price and should have just declined but paid instead. Oddly it was $5. even, no change.
google avatar

Yelp
I like the candy, but the gelato is awful. It's extremely gluey and way too sweet. It's nothing like the gelato in Italy and I feel like the gelato they sell at eveb Safeway is better.

Yelp
The pro's of this store: It's located right in Montclair Village and has a nice assortment of candies and chocolates. The people who work there are usually friendly and helpful. The cons: Things are WAAAAY overpriced. I recently bought a certain kind of Jelly Belly candy for a party from another store. I realized I needed a few more boxes and dropped by Le Bonbon, only to find they are charging fully TWICE the price of all the other stores. This was frustrating! Instead of buying the 5-6 boxes I was planning on, I just got one because I was so dismayed by this price gouging.

Yelp
I love this place. My sweet tooth gets the best of me often and this is the ideal spot for me to satiate that urge! The fresh chocolates are excellent and I especially enjoy the ones locally made. Cherry cordials are high on my list. The also have many European chocolates like Perugina and Godiva. It's a great place for gifts. Who can resist a fine box of chocolates? The people are really nice and it's simply a nice shop to stroll into. I am a repeat customer and will continue to be.

Yelp
The chocolates and candy are pretty great . That's not the problem. Took my 95 year old mother in law here for her birthday. Young counter girl made an astoundingly callous remark when she asked if she had ever seen someone her age. The girl seemed to be having a breakdown of some sort, made the whole interaction as edgy as fingernails on a chalkboard.

Laura A.

Yelp
$19.96 per lb for Jelly Beans! That's 100% more than if you bought the directly from Jelly Belly. The store is cute but paying that mark up is outrageous- especially from a surly counter person who didn't even respond when I said hello and was super put out to ring up the order. Thumbs down.

George O.

Yelp
I was in about 4 hours ago and a very rude lady was TRYING to argue with the staff about the price of already purchased jelly beans. The girl behind the counter was very helpful and kind even after being treated with disrespect from a very unsightly woman. She even asked if the lady wanted a bag! I go in all the time to Le Bon Bon and the girl behind the counter is always helpful. Hate to see rich people take their anger out on someone who doesn't look more than 16. Thank you Le Bon Bon! And give that girl a raise!

Yelp
I've been walking past this shop for over a year. Today stopped in and couldn't decide what chocolate to get. I got a couple Oreo cookies covered in milk chocolate and a piece of peanut cluster. Oh. So good. Ill be stopping by more often

Yelp
When on a quest for just a piece or two or good quality chocolate, I head straight here! Saba, the lovely woman who often solo staffs this tiny store on weekdays, is always gracious & welcoming. She remembers that I usually buy a small clump of delicious, chocolate-covered orange peel (very hard to find these days) & patiently waits while I peruse other tempting options. Their gelato is outstanding too!

Yelp
Stumbled on Le Bonbon before dinner but was very stoned and already thinkin dessert. So we popped in. Truffles never really appealed all that much to me, but my stony self said yes.yes.yes.NOW. so we went for the chocolate lava and creme brulee white chocolate truffles. I also caught a glimpse of the honeycomb, which I used to love as a kid so we ordered a piece of milk and dark as well. The gelato looked heavenly but we were on our way to a restaurant so we passed, it looked so good I almost considered getting it to go and asking the resturant to put it in their freezer for me (now that is some very half baked thinking). I will be back for some one day...oreo tub of gelato be ready for me! It cost $16 for 4 truffles and 2 pieces of honeycomb. I felt like such a fancy dummy for spending $15 on dessert that could be held in the palm of my hand, but when these treats hit my tongue, I understood why they were on the pricier side. They were delicious, not overly sweet, just perfect consistency, texture and goodness. The quality was clear. A very nice special treat for when you are feeling fancy.

Yelp
A great little candy and ice cream shop that smells (to me) like childhood, summer days. They carry a selection of American staples, including Jelly Belly, Chocolove, Green and Black, and Godiva in addition to tea, mugs, gelato, and "pick and mix" with sours, gummies, and chocolates like nonpareils. The woman working behind the counter was very nice and patient as we made our selections. It's a bit pricey, but what else would you expect in the area?

.Hon H.

Yelp
My hon of hons husband is a fool for dark chocolate - the higher the cacao content, the happier he is. I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping and stopped in to see their chocolate bar selection. I was so happy to see the array of premium ultra-dark chocolates they had on hand. I chose one with green tea flavor and another that was flavored with chiles. He loved both of them and is delighted that a local shop can satisfy his chocolate habit!

Yelp
Based on a first (very brief) impression that will not be revised. Stopped in here one day after coming down from my 18 bus contact high. Had 15 minutes to kill before my appointment with Carrie at Mont Clair Physical Therapy and Wellness. ANYWAY, wanted to see if this place carried the SAME brand of chocolate covered gummi bears as Lulu Rae. I realize what a total nerd that makes me. One simple question sent the world atilt for the lady working here. She went in the back, shuffled papers and came out looking so flustered, I was embarrassed FOR HER. She proceeded to tell me where everything obvious in the store is from (jelly bellies, ghirardelli...) but then came to the same conclusion as before about the gummi bears. OKAY! So, I asked if I could sample the product. I know, I know. So snobby. Should've just BOUGHT some goddamn gummi bears, but maybe I would've if the lady hadn't given the reason for not allowing me to taste test as "I don't want to loose my JOB!" Moms, don't take drugs. I had to say thank you and excuse myself before I was outright just thrown out the store for aiding and abetting her (possibly former) boss in candy-canning this woman. Final answer? Come here on the weekends when the owner is in if you have detailed questions about the product.

Yelp
I feel mixed about Le Bonbon,so overall ended in the middle of the road. I was looking for a gift and they do have a selection of local chocolates available. Great. They also have a bunch of Godiva chocolates available. Ok, that's fine too. But I was looking to buy something special, not something you could find just anywhere, so was really excited about the local chocolates. (To note, there is also a wide variety of high quality chocolate bars and other candy items.) The negative: If you want to purchase the local chocolates, the only packaging they have available is Godiva branded. So even if I purchased local chocolates, the recepient would have no clue. I was also looking to include some items that would be gluten free, and the person working behind the counter couldn't tell me if any of the items in the case were gluten free. In fact, she was only able to point to 2 pre-wrapped bars that were called out as gluten free. (However, as I read the packages it turned out a *much* larger selection was gluten free than what the sales person had indicated.) I ended up purchasing a few chocolate bars that weren't local- but were labeled as gluten free. The sales associate was nice about wrapping them up witha pretty ribbon which made for a nice gift. Overall, it is a fine place to pick up chocolate if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stop by there again.

Yelp
I ran in last week when it was just 3 mins before closing...yes, shame on me for going in at the last minute. But what a treat...the woman greeted me with a smile. I told her I knew it was moments to closing and told her exactly what I was looking for: a nice small custom box of milk chocolates for Great Grandma. She efficiently showed me the options, told me about the various pieces available and we created a lovely box at my exact price point. Never did she make me feel like I was inconveniencing her for coming in at the last minute. Thank you for the friendly, efficient & helpful service.

Yelp
If you have a New Years resolution to cut down on sugar/lose a few pounds, steer clear of this place, because there are so many temptations! If you do go here, you will end up leaving with something, so try the Zan truffles (I think they're better than the Godiva ones). The truffles are a bit pricey (up to $3 each), but they're good quality. There are also lots of other options like choc covered Oreos, etc. Took off 1 star because the ice cream is overpriced. It's delicious, but a $1.50 "cone" is literally doll-sized.

Yelp
I loved this place when I was growing up. I remember the elder ladies that worked in there were so kind and every now and then gave a little extra to me. However, I revisited this place in September 2009, and it did not have the same spark for me that it once had.

Yelp
I LOVE this chocolate store! I always go there to get my Godiva truffles. They are very helpful and kind and they have a great selection of sweets, including non- chocolate candies, such as jellybeans and candy corn and many other goodies. My husband recently bought me a big box of Godiva truffles for me from them and when I opened them and tasted one, they did not seem fresh. Granted, I am a chocolate lover, so I am hyper aware of these things, but the box was expensive and they were disappointing, so I brought them back in and they were kind enough to give me store credit for the box (without the receipt) and I was able to buy some fresh truffles that made me very happy. They are a truly generous and customer-friendly establishment and I highly recommended that you go buy some sweets from them immediately!

Nicole S.

Yelp
They have the BEST gelato!!! Great selection of candy and chocolate. They even have a 100% Caco bar. I highly recommend dropping by if you are in the area.

Chris J.

Yelp
I bought some little hard candies which had some soft centers; you know, the kind that certain waiting rooms have bowls filled with for waiting customers in a lobby. I bought like 4-5 of these candies one morning recently and well--these five little soft candies cost me $1.68. They got my business the one time but never again--maybe their chocolates behind the case are the bomb, who knows...but scattered to all winds is my notion of a corner candy store of penny candies. Yeah, I know...even when I was a kid there was no such thing anymore, but I gotta tell you...$1.68 for five little hard candies, soft centers regardless...ridiculous. Still--this is MontCLAYer...

Yelp
Easily accesible, pretty affordable (little expensive for some products, but it's worth it for the quality), and incredibly friendly staffed store. It's been around forever, and I've known i can always depend on it to get my candy/chocolate fix, whether it be for a present or a cake decoration. The staff their is knowledgable of their product, and never try to obnoxiously up-sell you on crap you just don't need. This is a Montclair staple that never should go away.

Dave D.

Yelp
I am a big kid in a candy store that also sells chocolates, turtles chocolate. I spend more here than at Peete's!

Valerie L.

Yelp
I stopped into this shop to indulge a craving and encountered a snippy young clerk with a nasty attitude. I apologized to her, thinking I'd somehow offended her (though I wasn't sure how) and she cut me short and remained rude for the rest of the brief interaction. It's better that I avoid this stuff anyway, but next time I want to indulge in a craving, I'll definitely go elsewhere. See's, for example. Yes, they have truffles too, young lady.

Antonella D.

Yelp
It's a candy store and they have cards and gifty thingys also. It is small. I always get my soda here I don't know why I think it is the cheapest place in the village to get a can of soda. They sell GODIVA Chocolate!! They have all sorts for candies. i forget what day it was but with any purchase they were also giving away a free cup of coffee!
google avatar

Melanie P.

Yelp
They have Fiorello's gelato! It is sooo delicious! The Cookies and Cream gelato is my favorite and not so easy to find! Cute shop, nice employees and a chocolate lovers dream. Hard to not want to buy everything in the store when you walk in. They even offer great gift ideas for a quick yummy treat for someone.

Yelp
This has been a Montclair tradition since the 1980's. Good source of treets in Monclair.

Stacy I.

Yelp
I have just had a horrible experience with this shop.I do not recommend them. The owners were very rude and not helpful. Their chocolate is very stale and has sat on the shelves for some time. There are other stores in the area that have better products for your sweet tooth.

Mr. H.

Yelp
This very nice chocolate store, located in the heart of montclair, has always been a great addition to the montclair area. If it's a candy, they either have it or can get it. Prices are a little on the higher side, but the selection and service are worth it. Great for large orders and single-chocolate purchases, too.

Molly M.

Yelp
Le Bon Bon is a wonderful chocolate store, although it is a bit pricey. This small shop not only has a wide variety of different chocolate but a wide selection of other candies, like Swedish Fish, sour candies/strips, M&Ms and many others. If your looking for a quick snack or forgot to buy a present, Le Bon Bon is a good place to stop by. My favorite candy there is their dark chocolate almond turtle and english toffee. The service is very good as well.
