This place had a lot of hype/expectations to live up to for us--not just internet raves, but an impassioned mention in my girlfriend's beloved Alex Lobrucco book-- and it did so and then some.
It was our last meal in Paris before an evening flight home, and it feels like we figuratively and literally saved the best for last. Got to enjoy the lunch menu, which was--as is often the case in Paris--quite the bargain in price, while still being as large and satisfying as a dinner--and was just an exquisite, delicious meal.
My girlfriend started with an incredible leek soup, while I started with a plate of mussels in an incredible broth. We each had the fish special (cod filet). Served in a delicate white wine sauce, it was just elegant and flavorful food, perfectly cooked, and served with lightly charred eggplant and some crisp green beans. I sopped up every bit of the broth and the entrée sauce with extra servings of their delightful french bread. I'm not always a dessert person, but the apple tarte with crème fraiche was a perfect ender, as was the tasty espresso to pair with it.
Michelin-starred for a reason, but you'd never know it from the charming exterior and low-key but oh-so-Parisian simple yet elegant interior and pleasant, unobtrusive service. Felt like the perfect place for virtually any situation--a first date, a thousandth date (somewhere in-between for us!), or just to sit by yourself with a book and while away the hours over a delightful meal.
