NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"In Greenpoint, Le Chalet Du Terroir is a Haitian cafe that’s in the former Himalayas Newa Cafe space on McGuinness. In addition to coffee, they’re keeping some momos on the menu from the previous tenant, but will also have some Haitian staples like soup pen and soup libéte on offer as specials." - will hartman, bryan kim

If you're craving authentic Haitian cuisine Le Chalet du Terroir is a must visit. The food is made to order, so it’s always fresh, flavorful, and worth the wait! While my meal was being prepared, I was sipping on a fresh squeezed lemonade. Every bite felt like it was cooked with love. Excited to try some pastries and soups for next time. Highly recommended!

Very cute local cafe with an extensive menu, wifi, and plenty of seating. Loved chatting with the cashier about their special iced chocolate drink for summer! I sampled the soup (fantastic) and ordered the chicken sandwich which is HUGE and delicious, made to order. Will definitely be back

I had a wonderful time and experience here. The owner is so friendly and kind. I tried homemade coffee syrups (caramel, earl grey, and vanilla), homemade pumpkin soup, coffee, and a ginger tea. Wonderful wonderful place and vibe. Next time I will have to try the momos (dumplings). Thank you so much! Until next time!

So how did I get there? One day on my way from work I was feeling a bit down and under the weather and stumbled upon this GEM. So I decided to stop by and after exchanging a few pleasantries. I was given a sample ginger shot, and a mini tasting event to water my palette. Oh! Am sorry did I mention that I was a foodie? Any WHO! So the host recommended the Freedom 🍲soup. And when I tried it I instantly fell in love. I felt like I was in Dominica in the countryside in the hills of Artley in the blue mountains, being catered too by the natives, where every ingredient was taken from the earth all organically grown. No preservatives, dyes, or chemicals. The menu is awesome if you're into clean and healthy eating. . Need to say I felt much better that evening. But don't take my word for it. Please experience it for yourself and give your honest opinion . The restaurant is located on the ground floor of a residential building in between a dog lovers spa and a laser hair removal business. The restaurant is very cozy. It's a kind of gives off the vibe of a cross between a restaurant and a lounge. In my opinion it's the best kept secret in Long Island city. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The menu is very affordable, compared to other restaurants in the area. I would definitely recommend this place if you're on a budget, date or a family outing. It place fits a group of about 10-15 folks. There's paid parking and street parking depending on the day of the week that you choose to visit. By public transportation take the G train to Greenpoint Ave, get off the Manhattan Ave side it's just a 3 block radius. By bus you may take the B24 and get off at GREENPOINT/MCGUINESS BLVD 🛑. It's a 2 minute walk.

It was my first time having Haitian food and I'm very glad I got it from Le Chalet du Terroir! I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by how tasty and filling their Diri Djon djon was. The lady at the restaurant was also so sweet and vibrant, she even made sure my food wasn't spicy (because I'm unfortunately spice sensitive) and just overall made the atmosphere of the place very warm and welcoming. I was very satisfied and would definitely visit again.

The sweetest couple owns this shop! They are so genuine and kind and everything food and drinks wise here is made of love. They were so happy when I pronounced the name right because I speak a little French haha. They are new so update their menu a lot. They sell home baked croissants, pastries, and muffins. They also have sandwiches, coffees and smoothies. I got a smoothie to go!

The most delicious food. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Perfectly comforting momos and the SAUCE was everything. You’ll know what I mean when you try it. A gem of a restaurant and also a gem of a human running it! She offered me many taste samples. No doubt all the food on the menu (that I will be back to try) is as delicious and thoughtfully homemade. Homemade chocolate for the hot chocolate! Ginger tea with ginger from her mom’s farm! Couldn’t recommend enough.
