We were craving for Shake Shack’s milkshake, so we decided to try Chic Shack instead, and honestly, it did not disappoint! We loved it—the burgers were great too. We had always wondered why there was a line outside, and now we understand why! ❤️ definitely coming back for more milkshakes 🥹🥤

Google
We stopped in craving some comfort good and got exactly that. I got a vegetarian burger with sweet potato soup and an espresso milkshake. We were under the impression from waitstaff when we asked if I could get the milkshake in place of the soda waitress agreed however then charged us extra. Husband enjoyed his beef patty and regular fries even though we had asked for sweet potato fries. Good food though

Google
Convenient location for a quick bite! Poutines were tasty and unique. Fresh potato wedges makes it stand out. Service is a bit on the slower side, seems like our waiter switched in the middle of service(?). Blueberry and blackcurrant soda with homemade syrup was delicious!

Google
We ordered La Forestier poutine (vegetarian option) and vegan burger which comes with choice of side and drink. The poutine was amazing! Loaded with cheese and mushrooms. Also the burger was very good. Overall good food with excellent services. Although we don’t speak French, the boys tried their best to provide excellent services.

Google
I wanted to really like this place, but combined with the wait to get in here and the mediocre food, it wasn't worth it. There are many better places to eat in Quebec City. The washroom didn't even have soap in it. It gets a bit of a better rating since the milkshake was really good, but the poutine wasn't the best I've had in Quebec City.

Google
We were pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the staff, especially the waiters, who went out of their way to set up the exact table we wanted. The restaurant has a fantastic location with great views, which adds to the experience. We had the Classic Quebec Poutine, which was delicious! They also have a good selection of beers. Prices are moderate, considering the quality and service. Definitely a place we would return to.

Google
Orders Veg Burger and Le BBQ burger with poutine. Awesome food. No reservations needed but wait times are around 15-20 minutes. Right opposite to Chateau Frontenac. Really good vibes and food also very nice. Friendly staff and all speak English as well French ofc 😃 Tasted one of their local beer which was super good. Totally worth the hype. ❤️

Stopped by for dinner tonight. There was no wait, so we got right in. Overall, I would say very good. Food: 4 out of 5. The burgers were good, but not great. I would go for a shake shack or 5 guys burger over these any day of the week...Sodas were interesting. It's not what I expected, but it's still good. We also had some shakes as well. They were pretty good. Service: 5 out of 5. Our waiter was very responsive and friendly. Atmosphere: 5 out of 5. Right in the heart of Old Quebec City. Looked nice and clean as well. Overall, I would definitely stop by again if in the area and graving a burger.

Yelp
Oh my gosh, Le Chic Shack was phenomenal! The food was amazing, and the prices were incredibly affordable, especially considering the huge portions. We ordered one large poutine to share between four of us, and it was more than enough--we were stuffed! Their poutine is unlike any other I've tried. Instead of regular fries, they use diced potatoes, which really elevates the dish. The cheese was perfect--so squeaky and exactly what you'd want from a proper poutine. The gravy tasted homemade, rich, savory, and absolutely delicious. Even though we didn't speak French, the staff was incredibly sweet, welcoming us with smiles and being polite throughout. They had other tempting options on the menu, but the portions were so big we couldn't try more this time. This was hands down the best poutine I had in Quebec--and I tried at least six different kinds! I would 100% come back. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and go here. It's fantastic!

Yelp
We stopped in after walking through a cold mid October Quebec day. We Americans wanted to try poutine. We opted for the version with brisket. Fantastic! We bought one large bowl and it was enough for the two of us and we still left a couple bites. The gravy and cheese curds were great. We saw another table get the hamburgers. I will say the poutine looked to be a better value for the money. Try this place.

Eric B.

Yelp
Came here primarily due to proximity to the Chateau. Advertised as a Burger place, so wife and I both ordered different versions of their burger. The consensus was that both burgers were not very good. They were not juicy at all and appeared to be overcooked. To add to the meal, I ordered the classic poutine. The fries were not traditional, which completely spoiled the entire effect for me. The gravy and cheese was only OK. We topped everything with chocolate shakes. Things went much better with these shakes. Both were excellent. Liked the atmosphere of the Chic Shack. Had a window table so we could people watch. Was chilly and raining, so sitting outside wasn't an option.

Yelp
They delivered above expectations Food to drinks Looks like a fast food place but was much more

Yelp
Just had to leave a review for this place, these sweet potato fries OMG I don't think I've ever tasted something so good esp with sweet potatoes. They were so crispy and NOT oily at alllll! The service def needed to be better there was only one server for the whole place during peak lunch time. But the fries omg if you get anything get these fries. Burgers were OK!

Gwendolyn P.

Yelp
Such a fun place in the heart of everything! As tourists we were looking for a friendly place we could charge our phones, use the bathroom and get a bite to eat. The staff were very accomodating. I loved the homemade pear soda with the pebbled ice! That alone was worth going here for and the poutine was the best that we had while we were in Qubec City. The chicken sandwich was very flavorful but on the sandwich that we received the amount of actual chicken served was very small portion.

Nhu N.

Yelp
Spacious and good for groups. I came in when it wasn't busy and was seated immediately. The service was okay and pretty attentive. I ordered the bison burger, le robuste. It was pretty good, but the portion is small for the price. I really liked the black garlic mayo. Overall a good meal and filling, but it costs $24 for just the burger. I also ordered the strawberry milkshake and that was really great. However it costed $8 which is quite a lot for a drink. I really liked it and it was very tasty but for the price, I think this portion size was also a bit small. Overall a nice experience but way out of my budget.

Yelp
I had my first real meal in Quebec City here after a day of traveling and touring Parliament House, as well as Chateau Frontenac. The space was super cute and a nice break from the cold. I ordered the Salted Caramel Maple milkshake and Poutine. The milkshake was wonderfully thick, smooth, creamy, sweet and tasted delightfully of maple. The Poutine I selected was La Braisee, consisting of ale-braised beef, aged cheddar, cheese curds, pickled onions, horseradish aioli and fresh herbs. What I didn't realize was the dish came with actual pieces of potato, not French fries, so I wasn't the biggest fan. To me, that's not true poutine. However, the beef was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. It went well with the cheese and onion. My friend ordered the sweet potato fries, so I got to try some. These were nicely crispy and had true sweet potato taste. Service was decent. Since I was disappointed with my meal, I would not return.

Rose M.

Yelp
Great location across from the Frontenac. Sit outside and take in the view and people. Milkshakes are amazing. Nice place to sit and have a drink. Food was just ok. I expected the burger to be juicy and amazing but it was neither. Chicken sandwich was subpar and I would have thought it would have more substance. Overall, I would come back for shakes and drink not the food.

Brian P.

Yelp
Burgers, fries and milkshakes with a good collection of poutines make this a great stop for lunch located next to the Hotel Frontenac. Places to eat inside and out. Service was friendly. They have a great gluten free bun for those that are "sans gluten".

Jessika Z.

Yelp
This place was on our list but not when we planned. A close restaurant was too full so we came here, after bookmarking it to come later due to the reviews. It was so good. It was comparable inside to a diner feel but the food was more upscale than that! Fresh, delicious, and clean. We sat near the windows and it was beautiful to watch groups go by while enjoying great food. Very affordable and staff superb!

Mario R.

Yelp
Our first stop after arriving in Quebec City, and of course we wanted to try the province staple; a classic poutine! I enjoyed the flavors as well as the burger that I ordered. Service was also friendly and they have a pretty solid beer menu.

Doreen T.

Yelp
Every blog and youtube video recommended coming to Le Chic Shack. I think it's because of all the choices of a "fusion" style poutine. If I had the chance to dine here again, I would just stick to the classic poutine. The "fusion" sounds great, but it really takes away what a traditional poutine is supposed to be. Hubby and I shared Le Chic Burger and La Forestiere poutine which had mushroom, cheese and we added chicken. While it tasted good the first few bites, it got really heavy really quick. Our friends also got a burger and a Korean spicy poutine. It was also too heavy for them as well. Note that we stick to classic poutine the rest of the trip everywhere else (10 days total) and they were all good. The most let down was actually trying to split our bill in half, they couldn't do it but never came back and tell us. We ended up waiting for an extra 20 mins til we asked them again nicely. Could had saved everyone lots of time.

Grusha S.

Yelp
Amazing food! Really good gluten free bun for burger it was so soft! Loved the french vanilla milkshake and grilled chicken burger. Service was nice and great ambiance. Right in front of fairmont!

Harry G.

Yelp
Good location and prices but the burger is served only well done, and they are not kidding, ours was burnt to a crisp

Hanyu T.

Yelp
Convenient location but not as fast as you would think. If you are looking for a place to grab a quick bite before continuing your trip, I wouldn't recommend; if you want to rest while people watch, this may be the one for you. I didn't have anything so I can't say for their food. Great vibe inside with open kitchen so it's a fine place to hide from the sun. I had a cup of latte and it's ... just an average latte. My friend had a burger, some fries and a soda. She praise the soda more than the foods.

Benjamin C.

Yelp
Really cool spot to grab some food. The kids had the chiquitos, my wife the Chic, and me the Robuste. We also had the maple and pepper chips and some fries and home made sodas (cola and blackcurrant blueberry.) I think the highlights were the chips and my wife loved the blackcurrant blueberry soda. The Robuste had some tasty elements for sure, but something about it didn't reach 5 stars for me. I'd probably give the experience 4.5 stars if I could. Definitely worth checking out if looking for a burger in the area!

Andrew S.

Yelp
For such a highly rated place, I expected more. Food- Ordered two homemade sodas that were decent. Pretty mellow flavor and not too sweet so if that's your thing, go for it. The poutine was also pretty similar in that I thought it lacked flavor, though the beef one had more variety ingredients and thus more flavor. Service- Solid waiters who were quick to take our order. Ambiance- Chill diner style in the heart of Quebec City. It seems rather catered to the tourist population. I would have given the restaurant lower, but given that I didn't order anything else, I thought it unfair.

Erica L.

Yelp
Great burgers the classic one is the best the shakes are delicious and the view from inside is amazing l. Good service too!

Matt L.

Yelp
We tried this place for a late lunch/snack one Saturday. This place seemed very popular and was walking distance from the Fairmont! Burgers, salads, and poutine - definitely something that is unhealthy but something to crave if you're wanting a cheat meal. We tried the masala poutine as well as the la braisee poutine. The masala poutine is seasonal and thought it was very unique and tasty! The la braisee poutine was just a standard poutine with beef, cheese, and potatoes (yes they use potatoes and not French fries). Food was pretty good but the service was pretty slow. I felt like they were understaffed and their hours are somewhat limited (they are only open in the afternoon on the weekends).

Chris H.

Yelp
Great great great. Inexpensive. Friendly and welcoming. And a great alternative to the slew of overpriced heavy, over-sauced ersatz French restaurants in town. This place is not just burgers and poutine. Excellent salads too.

Jonathan N.

Yelp
The waiter that welcomed me was super super friendly and outgoing. I had such a great experience with eating a fulfilling meal . His smile and his service was definitely making me feel warm and welcoming. He also check up on me once in awhile to see if we were doing ok, which I was! The place was spectacular. I was attracted to the place be the smell of hamburgers. I saw the menu and well, ‍I needed to try everything!!! Especially if it was me first lol. but overall, it was very awesome experience. Give those waiters and cooks a raise!!!

Kascook S.

Yelp
Perfect location when visiting Château Frontenac or Citadel. Awesome experience across the board. This review is specially for all vegetarian friends who do not include meat and eggs in their diet like us. This was one of the places which we found we could not be more happy about. They not only offered vegan/vegetarian choices all the staff understood the dietary restrictions well. The food was fresh & flavorful. They use separate fryers for meat and fries which was something not many places offered here due to various reasons. Their house sodas were perfect balance of fizz and sweetness. Plenty of flavors to choose from. We tried the veggie burger, masala poutine(Indian curry flavored), House vegetarian soup, La Grano salad. Every recipe we tried was yummy.

Ron A.

Yelp
Great location, right near the grand hotel. Burgers were pretty nice but small for the price. Fries and great and flavored sodas also. 7/10

Yelp
We came here on a not busy Monday with our tour. The ambiance is chic and cute. However, here is our personal experience: The sign outside says to wait for someone to sit you, you literally have to stand and wait. They will not acknowledge you or make eye contact even if you try lol it's weird, but I guess that's what the locals are use to? We wouldn't have minded the wait but at least a "Hi, we will be back with you in a second" would have been nice? The place was not packed and there were plenty staff/personnel. Anyways, might be a cultural thing. You are dead to them while in that waiting area. Now, the pear soda was refreshing and the classic poutine was alright. I want to thank one of the girl staff that helped us when we finally got acknowledged. She was kind enough to make eye contact with us.

Denise S.

Yelp
I had a great dinner here while traveling solo in Quebec City. I came quite early so they gave me the best seat - at the window facing the Chateau Frontenac! Great people watching - could see kids in snowsuits going tobogganing, intense winter running groups, and tourists snapping photos. A lot of restaurants in the Old Town are expensive, but this place is very affordable despite their location smack dab in the heart of the historic sites (it is literally across the street from the Tourist Information Centre). For $18 I got the Chiquito burger (a standard cheeseburger), a side of poutine (the "small" size is quite generous), and one of their homemade sodas (cassis-blueberry flavour). The burger uses fresh Canadian beef and was super juicy on a nice, soft brioche bun with a strong cheese that held up to the other flavours. The poutine hit the spot on a cold day -- squeaky cheese curds, heart gravy and squared potatoes (like hash browns shape as opposed to typical fries). They make all their own sodas using real fruit puree and you can taste the difference. They are sweet but not overly so and don't have the artificial taste that most fruity sodas have. Service was fast and they checked my vaccine passport and ID at the door. There is free wifi and you can get a 15% discount from Musee du Fort which is inside the same building (I did no go though, so I don't know if it's any good). They were quite friendly and unlike most places I have been to on this trip, this switched to English when they heard my accent. While I do like to practice my French, I think they are used to having tourists here and all staff speak English too so they switched to make me more comfortable. When I dined in other neighbourhoods like St. Jean Baptiste, they would allow me to fumble around in my bad French haha...

Dax A.

Yelp
The food was ok (Burgers). The fries and chips where uneventful. Not one of us enjoyed the homemade sodas. Would not recommend. Service was good, patient and kind young ladies. The food took way too long to be served. Drinks and food came out at various times. Not served all at once. Would not eat here again. The ambiance was not very appealing. Filthy / small bathrooms. Burger picture shown was $16.00!!!

Michael S.

Yelp
Saw this place on delicious destinations. Food was very good and a must do when visiting Quebec. I found the house made pickles a little sweet for my palette. I was anxious to try poutine but have to say I am not a fan of the cheese. Food was really good and we had a very nice server. Sat by the window that was open on a beautiful day.

Sabrina J.

Yelp
This whole time I have been seeing poutine on menus when we walk around. I finally decided that it was about time I tried it. Let me just start off with how much I LOVE cheese. I think this whole trip I have been saying how I need salt in the food and this one was one of those. It is soooo good, but if it had a bit of salt, it would've been 10000% my favorite thing. My partner got one of the burgers and it was one of the best burgers we have had since we have been here. It had the salt I had been craving and the flavor I wanted. Definitely an amazing late night snack.

Calvin N.

Yelp
HEADS UP: SERVER MENTIONED THEY ONLY TAKE CARD! Nice and quaint spot with a full view of the Fairmont Chateau. Music was on point, playing a mix of early-2000s as well as modern pop music. My fault for not looking it up beforehand, but I expected the poutine to be one with fries - just keep in mind that they actually use diced potatoes as their base. I visited with my parents during early-April, so they were not busy. Server was very attentive and like other reviewers said, they aren't bothered at all with speaking English.

Parnell L.

Yelp
The food was very filling and tasty. Great place with some interesting specialty food choices. Milkshakes were very good. Routine was massive and of good value.

Pam M.

Yelp
Great burgers! Fries were generous and cooked to perfection. We were greeted with a generous and genuine smile. The server was very sweet and helpful explaining chic sauce and chic cola. They make their own sodas, no name brands. The chic cola was made with ginger and cinnamon and was quite refreshing. Our meal was delivered before we had time to decipher the ceiling art. Highly recommend!

Risa H.

Yelp
Casual lunch spot for a burger near the Fairmont Chateau. I tried the Le Robuste (Venison patty, maple whiskey deglazed mushrooms, Ciel de Charlevoix cheese, arugula, house pickles, tomato, gentleman's steak sauce, black garlic mayonnaise) and a side of the Signature Fries (Périgord fries: truffle oil, Parmesan, fresh herbs). Once served I saw a hair in my burger so they re-made it. Burger was good, and despite the hair, I would eat it again! Service was a bit slow and I waited a while to actually eat, but overall a solid spot for a burger and fries.

Bob J.

Yelp
The burgers were tasty and cooked to perfection, while the fries were generously portioned. Servers were friendly and made sure our waters were topped off. The food did arrive slowly (we waited around 45 minutes without any updates from the wait staff) but I guess I expect slower service near a tourist hot spot. The main downside was the bathroom cleanliness but the dining area was great. Outdoor seating is available and this place is kid friendly.

Lily M.

Yelp
Love this place! Gorg view of the cathedral! Amazing smoked meat poutine. Delish maple whiskey milk shake. Also the employees playlist was amazing. 10/10 recommend.

Sergio C.

Yelp
Arrived and asked for seating for a party of 5. We were asked to wait in the vestibule that is cold and uncomfortable. There was a 6 seat table immediately inside the door that was clean and available and ready to go (with no reserved sign on it). Why we were asked to wait when there was a table available is beyond me. As expected, service to be desired as they were not accommodating when there was clearly a table to be used.

Nico Samneil S.

Yelp
Budget friendly-good-eat place at the center of old quebec. They have their own drinks which tastes good. Their burger is different and tastes great! Vibe is chill. Service is wonderful. Place is clean. Has a bathroom. They have high chairs. Accepts credit and debit. No parking space.

Audrey J.

Yelp
The restaurant is very approachable and casual. American rap music was playing - it was a nice vibe to hear the kitchen staff singing along. The salad, burger, and vanilla milkshake with Avril Amaretto were all delicious and good portions for the price. Best of all, our server was so friendly and switched over to English when he realized French was not our first language. Thank you Le Chic Shack :)

Debra H.

Yelp
Good service, nice atmosphere. Love that you can sit with the windows open looking out onto the street. I had the salad with grilled chicken and green beans. First time they served it with asparagus and very little chicken. We went back again for lunch and they served it with green beans and a lot more chicken. Both times it was delicious and the service is good.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Great food and amazing milkshakes! We loved the unique take on poutine and loved the kimchi bulgogi style and the bbq pulled pork with pickled red onions. Very polite, fast service and convenient location to the Frontenac.

Fulgencio C.

Yelp
Not so friendly staff, waiter saw me using ketchup container that happens to be empty and instead of offering of a different ketchup bottle turn her head around pretending she didn't saw me. This place is famous for burger but they don't offer how your burger will be cooked, so you assume the chief will decide the best way possible style of cooking the burger without compromising the tenderness, taste and overall quality of the burger but lo and behold, the burger arrived overcooked, it's too hard and it's tasteless. The only thing commendable is the location and ambiance. Not going back to this place.

Nick C.

Yelp
Visited Le Chic Shack for a late lunch after exploring Old Quebec. There was a large wait, as half the restaurant had been reserved by what appeared to be a tour group. Once seated, our drink orders were taken. They make their own sodas, I had their blackberry soda which was very lightly sweet and carbonated. After getting our drinks, they took our food orders. I got their venison burger, with their smoked meat poutine. Both were really good. The burger was not dry, the lettuce, tomato, cheeses, and condiments were all high quality. It was interesting to be able to distinguish the taste of each ingredient in the burger. The poutine was good too. Instead of fries, they seem to smash a whole potato, and then fry that. The smoked meat and other toppings were good too. Prices weren't bad, even if the burger didn't come with fries. Worth a stop if you're craving a burger and poutine

Purple P.

Yelp
The food was quite good but WILDLY expensive. My partner and I each had a burger, side, and milkshake and it ended up being $69 before tip??? We later went to Le Ciel (the rotating restaurant at the top of Hotel Le Concorde) for brunch and each had an appetizer, latte, and entrée for $58. Please tell me why Chic Shack is more expensive than a fine dining restaurant with a chef and sous chef, and fresher, more high quality ingredients?? Anyways, go to Le Ciel instead! The view is incredible and the food is higher quality and less expensive.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Such a great burger. The Canadians know how to do it. Got the Chic Burger. A thick, fresh, juicy cut of beef with local Quebec cheese on a sweet brioche. The classic poutine was good and comforting, but if you're gonna get one thing: get Chic. 5 stars!!!!

Abegail A.

Yelp
Stopped by Le Chic Shack for lunch shortly after they opened and luckily didn't have to wait in line. The hostess quickly sat us in the area to the left with the high top tables. I was wondering how this would work with N as he needed a highchair, but our server ended up stacking two highchairs together which did the trick. However, be careful! N's foot got stuck in between the highchairs, which made for a somewhat scary situation. Definitely wouldn't recommend this again (didn't think about something like this happening or would have requested sitting elsewhere). The hostess quickly came by to check out the situation and acknowledged it...hopefully the restaurant doesn't seat families with small children in this area again! Anyhow, on to the food. I ordered the Le Chic burger, which came with maple-smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, Chic sauce, and the usual fixings (lettuce, tomato, pickles). My burger was cooked well, and was nice and juicy. My bacon was crispy and the cheesy was nicely melted. Loved the brioche bun, which made the burger that much better. I also shared the La Braisee poutine, which came with braised beef, cheese curds, parm, and pickled onions. They definitely didn't skimp on the cheese curds! I wish there was more beef, which was sprinkled throughout the dish and was more apparent on the bottom. The beef was nice and tender, though. The potatoes were nice and crispy, which was good as they didn't become mushy with all the toppings. This dish is definitely a meal in itself so share it! Service was good, with our waiter checking up on us pretty frequently. The restrooms were super tiny and not ideal for changing diapers. They had a changing table...hooray! But, the changing table was right in front of one of the restroom stalls, so if someone is in that stall, they need to wait until you are done changing the diaper or you need to pick the baby up so they could exit. People coming into the restroom might also accidentally hit the changing table when the open the door too. I enjoyed the food at Le Chic Shack, but in terms of being family friendly (at least for those with small children), not so sure this is the ideal place for you.

Michael R.

Yelp
These burgers are out of this world! The burger buns are so good. I ordered the veggie burger (perfection) and my wife ordered the Le Shack (also perfection). I also ordered the maple pepper chips and was pleasantly surprised by how good they are! My wife also got a chocolate milkshake and said it was the best she's every had. On top of that, the service was very fast as we got our food shortly after ordering. The ambiance was great as well. Highly recommend.

Scott E.

Yelp
The burgers are excellent and the fries as well. A really cool burger place. The shakes are pretty good also. Highly recommended.

Esteban Y.

Yelp
Great venison burger, not too big, not too small, fresh quality ingredients. Loved the poutine, not greasy at all, felt like a healthy poutine. The cheese was amazing (locally made). The signature poutine comes with shredded beef, how can you go wrong with that. And as usual for me, I always get a chocolate milkshake when I eat burgers. They added some Baileys, so good. Definitely an awesome place.

Alice K.

Yelp
This is a popular place, so expect to wait on line. Unfortunately, after waiting 20 minutes in the rain, the hostess came out and said they were not opening at the regular time of 12pm but at 12:30pm that day. (I guess things happen.) We decided not to stay and went back for dinner instead. The burgers were tasty, but on the small side. I actually prefer Five Guys. I enjoyed the blueberry soda and my husband liked the chocolate milkshake. It's a cute place in a trendy location.
