"France doesn’t have brunch culture—lunch and dinner are the bigger meals, while breakfast is typically a small affair, where a buttered tartine is all people can stomach in the morning. Le Desjeuneur is one of the few places in Lyon that serves breakfast and brunch favorites like truffle croque monsieur, banana pancakes, and avocado brioche toast. They don’t take reservations, so there’s usually a line out the door each day. " - anna richards

Le Desjeuneur is one of the few places in Lyon that serves breakfast and brunch favorites like truffle croque monsieur, banana pancakes, and avocado brioche toast. We walked all the way from the train station and it was 100% worth the climb. If these sandwiches were ‘n children I would have adopted them both and took them home and raised them as my own. The food, service and atmosphere is phenomenal. Great view of Lyon if you’re sitting outside. Prices are also better compared to most of the city. Got potatoes with my sandwich? What a bonus!

It was a very good decision to choose this play for a brunch. First of all, I was impressed about their booking system: you don’t need to make a reservation, but when you arrive to the restaurant you have to scan a QR code which will show your queue number. The website refreshes automatically, you can walk near the place while seeing how much time you have to wait until it is your turn. We were queue number 7 but we waited only 30 minutes. The food was delicious, we chose the brunch menu but for us it was too much food, however the pancakes were extremely fluffy and tasty.

I had an unexpectedly great breakfast experience at there! Everything was perfectly balanced, and the granola was especially delicious. It’s a fantastic spot for a filling and enjoyable breakfast. If you’re in Lyon, I’d definitely recommend stopping by.

Food was so tasty and service once you’re seated was really good. We did the brunch menu for each person and it was the perfect amount of food to get our day started! We did have to wait an hour in an online queue that you sign up for once you get there so get there early! Definitely recommend

Delightful brunch experience! We enjoyed a hot drink of our choice (the espresso) and a refreshing glass of local juice. The basket of fresh bread with jam and salted butter was a perfect start, followed by indulgent pancakes topped with fried bacon, free-range fried eggs, and served with salted butter and organic maple syrup on the side. The ambiance provided great vibes for a memorable meal.

It's an amazing place with very tasty food (brunch), especially granola. A lot of thanks for the personal. They look cool, and they are very caring! Hope one day I will visit you again.

Popped in for lunch today as we have been walking past this place for the last week and it’s always been packed. Great service and a fairly solid menu too (also provided in English, and while not required is always nice)😊 I ordered the salmon bun and Stacey the avocado bun. Both were good and the side of potatoes yummy too. Also, more fyi, there’s no mobile service in the back room so if you need to work then that’s not the place for you.

Easy to order brunch Good quantity, not overly full Prefer the pancakes 🥞 over the avocado 🥑 Coffee's ok too

Yelp
We walked past Le Desjeuneur several times and it was always full so we decided to stop in. They have breakfast & brunch options all day, but after 12:00 they have lunch options as well. It was a really hot day and all the tables outside were full so we sat inside. They had multiple big fans as well as bringing us a personal table fan (nice surprise!). Everyone we interacted with was really nice. Our French was minimal, but our server spoke great English. I got the daily special/plate of the day. To start with, it was a watermelon salad with ricotta cheese, toasted pine nuts, and balsamic. It was SO good and absolutely perfect for the hot day. My main dish was fish with a fresh salsa, pureed carrots (great flavor!!) and broccoli. All of it was amazing and something I would definitely order again!!

Yelp
Very reasonable price for a good brunch. The wait staff are kind and quick. Tight space, but that's expected

Yelp
This place has such a great ambiance. It was cozy and bustling at the same time. Servers were extremely friendly and did not mind speaking English or speaking French slowly to foreigners. The food was cooked and plated nicely. Food prices were reasonable.

Yelp
C'est parfait!! This was a great spot for a quick lunch or breakfast. Their Croque Monsieur was perfection. Melty yumminess. Comfort food at its finest! I enjoyed a cappuccino and chocolate cake. I highly recommend the trip to this cafe! Many of the servers and the owner speak English

Yelp
Had breakfast slash brunch here on two occasions. Great staff, very helpful. Fast service in spite of busy hours. Portions are large and well presented. Recommended!

Yelp
Breakfast All Day, I know, right? I went to this place for lunch where I had the avocado salad that was so good I was stunned. My son loved his croque monsieur. Then I took my family there for the brunch one Sunday. I recommend trying to get in either just before the lunch rush or just after, around 1:45, when tables are clearing to avoid a wait. The very welcoming staff is busy, for the great reason that the food and atmosphere here is unpretentious, simple, but very well thought out and delicious above all else. Warning, brunch is copious! Pancakes, slabs of smoked streaky bacon, sunny side up eggs, jams, honey salted butter and various breads, yogurt with granola and fresh berries, orange juice and hot beverage of choice from the menu (I chose flat white). This place hits the spot in many ways.
