The 24 Best Restaurants In Lyon - Lyon - The Infatuation

"France doesn’t have brunch culture—lunch and dinner are the bigger meals, while breakfast is typically a small affair, with a buttered tartine all most people can stomach in the morning. When “brunch” does exist, it’s in the form of a multi-course set menu, usually far too expensive. Yes, we’ve told them that’s not brunch. No, they don’t listen to us. Thankfully, Le Desjeuneur is one of the few places in Lyon where you can gobble up breakfast and brunch favorites like truffle croque monsieur, banana pancakes, and avocado brioche toast. Even better, brunch is every day, not just Sundays. They don’t take reservations, so expect a line out the door." - anna richards

Oh boy where to begin with. We stayed in Lyon for 3 days and had breakfast everyday here. I cannot recommend it enough! Food is delicious, service is crazy fast and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming Cheers to the friendly staff who greeted us daily and made our day just a bit better. I recommend the coffee and pancake stacks. Bonus: free water!

Delicious brunch! BLT and ham and cheese sandwich were both delicious. Order a side of fried eggs to make it perfect!! The staff is very friendly! We shared the 2 sandwiches so the picture is of the 2 different 1/2 sandwiches. Potatoes were delicious too!

I visited this café a few times and was never disappointed. Everything is really tasty, but the croque truffe is just outstanding for me - definitely a must-try! Great atmosphere and friendly service as well. Highly recommend!

We walked all the way from the train station and it was 100% worth the climb. If these sandwiches were ‘n children I would have adopted them both and took them home and raised them as my own. The food, service and atmosphere is phenomenal. Great view of Lyon if you’re sitting outside. Prices are also better compared to most of the city. Got potatoes with my sandwich? What a bonus!

Google
Food was so tasty and service once you’re seated was really good. We did the brunch menu for each person and it was the perfect amount of food to get our day started! We did have to wait an hour in an online queue that you sign up for once you get there so get there early! Definitely recommend

Google
Unbeatable for brunch, just be fast to beat also the queue. Just come early, or perhaps try your luck. But I swear it's worth it! I'll come back!

Yelp
We walked past Le Desjeuneur several times and it was always full so we decided to stop in. They have breakfast & brunch options all day, but after 12:00 they have lunch options as well. It was a really hot day and all the tables outside were full so we sat inside. They had multiple big fans as well as bringing us a personal table fan (nice surprise!). Everyone we interacted with was really nice. Our French was minimal, but our server spoke great English. I got the daily special/plate of the day. To start with, it was a watermelon salad with ricotta cheese, toasted pine nuts, and balsamic. It was SO good and absolutely perfect for the hot day. My main dish was fish with a fresh salsa, pureed carrots (great flavor!!) and broccoli. All of it was amazing and something I would definitely order again!!

Yelp
Very reasonable price for a good brunch. The wait staff are kind and quick. Tight space, but that's expected

Yelp
This place has such a great ambiance. It was cozy and bustling at the same time. Servers were extremely friendly and did not mind speaking English or speaking French slowly to foreigners. The food was cooked and plated nicely. Food prices were reasonable.

Yelp
C'est parfait!! This was a great spot for a quick lunch or breakfast. Their Croque Monsieur was perfection. Melty yumminess. Comfort food at its finest! I enjoyed a cappuccino and chocolate cake. I highly recommend the trip to this cafe! Many of the servers and the owner speak English

Yelp
Breakfast All Day, I know, right? I went to this place for lunch where I had the avocado salad that was so good I was stunned. My son loved his croque monsieur. Then I took my family there for the brunch one Sunday. I recommend trying to get in either just before the lunch rush or just after, around 1:45, when tables are clearing to avoid a wait. The very welcoming staff is busy, for the great reason that the food and atmosphere here is unpretentious, simple, but very well thought out and delicious above all else. Warning, brunch is copious! Pancakes, slabs of smoked streaky bacon, sunny side up eggs, jams, honey salted butter and various breads, yogurt with granola and fresh berries, orange juice and hot beverage of choice from the menu (I chose flat white). This place hits the spot in many ways.
