"Michelle Hernandez, owner of this floral-inspired bakery, calls out dramatic input-cost increases that affect pastry and desserts: she reports her Vital Farm pasture-raised eggs rose from $52.55 at the end of March 2020 to $96.75 by April 10 of this year, and that even when adjusted for inflation the prior price becomes $64.93 — a more-than-$30 jump — underscoring why ice cream’s flexibility and ingredient-forgiving nature are attractive to operators." - Paolo Bicchieri

"The bakery on 18th Street originally opened in October 2020 with just a takeout window and is now allowing customers inside to sit for the first time; it reopened on March 29, 2025 after about five months closed while building out the revamped space. There are to-go items and a suite of little chairs and tables. The shop is well-known for its passionfruit almond tart and caneles, with gluten-free buckwheat brownies on deck, too. Beyond the expanded room and seating, the bakery is introducing Viennoiserie thanks to Hernandez’s second outpost in Potrero Hill — that means croissants, specifically the pistachio orange blossom croissant, that are "already doing numbers," per Hernandez. There's also a bonjour bun, described as a tall lavender rose spiralized pastry. The reopening is significant for folks in that few-block radius, which has not much else in that area for these kinds of treats." - Paolo Bicchieri

"Pastry chef Michelle Hernandez is dishing out exceptionally artful cakes, brioche, canelés, nougat, and more at new Potrero Hill bakery Le Dix-Sept Patisserie. Thanks to the addition of a sheeter, she’s also delving into croissants and other layered pastry styles. Stop by for glazed sweet potato Danishes, silky pistachio croissants with fragrant notes of orange blossom, and chai palmiers." - Paolo Bicchieri

"Pastry chef Michelle Hernandez’s Mission-based bakery Le Dix-Sept Patisserie has one of the best canelés in town, and thanks to a fall 2024 expansion into Potrero Hill, now two neighborhoods get to benefit. But even if you’ve tried the Mission shop, the Potrero space is considered to be the flagship now that Hernandez finally has a kitchen to call her own; take advantage and order the freshest pastries of the day, which include seasonal offerings such as a recent autumn cake with rose and vanilla bean layers." - Dianne de Guzman

"Pastry chef Michelle Hernandez opened a second neighborhood location on Saturday, November 2, bringing artful pastries such as brioche, canelés, passionfruit-topped tarts, croissants, and more." - Justine Jones
