"This stylish Normandy manor commissioned a fresco by Jean-Charles Castelbajac for its dining room, creating the perfect foil for the view of the sun setting over the town of Étretat and its cliffs on the horizon. The culinary score has embraced a two-fold seaside/plant theme with just the right blend of balance and harmony as sauces and jus add a welcome gutsy kick greatly appreciated by discerning foodies. Pleasant guestrooms to stay longer." - Michelin Inspector

"Normandy might not get the kind of international attention that’s showered on Provence and the Côte d’Azur, but it’s certainly not without its charms. Étretat, with its famous chalk cliffs — the French counterpart to the cliffs of Dover — is among them. And on a hillside overlooking the town of Étretat is a 19th-century château in the Anglo-Norman style, a one-time private residence that’s now one of the region’s most unique hotels: Le Donjon - Domaine St. Clair." - Tablet Hotels

We’ve stayed in countless hotels, but this must be one of the most beautiful ever! The rooms and facilities are gorgeous. There is a very relaxing and luxurious atmosphere. Big compliments to the team: service level is excellent! Two minor disappointments: the shower was unpractical and breakfast could have been better. Croissants and bread weren’t crispy and we would have preferred a good espresso instead of drip coffee.

The hotel has a wonderful location and a beautiful view from the terrace. The breakfast was excellent — quiche, eggs, ham, salmon, pastries, and cheeses. However, in my opinion, the room did not match its price. It felt a bit worn-out, and the shower didn’t work properly. Even the receptionist wasn’t able to figure out how to turn it on.

We were really looking forward to staying in this hotel, promoted as luxurious and tranquil, but unfortunately our 2 night stay coincided with a crowded techno-disco event around the pool from 7pm to midnight. We were allocated rooms as far from the noise as was possible, but the opportunity to enjoy the pool and the fabulous view was severely curtailed. We had booked the hotel in January, but were only informed two weeks before our arrival of this event, leaving us no time to re-book locally. Needless to say we did not stay a second night - a very disappointing experience.

Superb and cozy experience on the Normandie coast. Afternoon tea was a plus, as well as the dinner at their gourmet restaurant and the sauna after a long hike, and the homemade breakfast - delicious coffee and touch of home away from home. The Maya room with the cute bathroom and bedroom - was really special. Felt at ease and relaxed. Some small details could be improved to lift the standard one notch; bring some blankets and extra pillows to the room, some more pictures on the wall and somewhere to put shoes inside the entrance door. For dogs visiting, a dog bowl for example. It’s not important but small details that makes something very good - great, especially for clientele with attention to detail.

From the moment I arrived, my entire experience was superb! What a treat! The hotel is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. A short walk to the town and the beach. The food was outstanding. Superior all the way around.

Le Donjon was the complete package. Great location, history, service and an amazing room. Enjoyed the pool, amenities, quiet room and ambiance. Will recommend to all our American friends.

My two colleagues and I had a most wonderful stay at LeDonjon. We stayed in the Isadora Duncan room for 3 nights. The room was lightfilled with windows on all sides. The two beds were very comfortable and the linen on the beds was soft and luxurious. The bathroom shower room was unique and I will always remember it. The staff was friendly and responsive to all of our requests. The food was excellent with a range for all tastes. The breakfast buffet was spectacular with so many fresh fruits, cheeses, pastries and also eggs and smoked salmon. A fabulous experience in every respect.

Beautiful hotel nice atmosphere, exceptional situation, view of the cliff. |The room was huge, a bit dark.|Friendly staffs (Maxime). |Close to the centre of Etretat. |The breakfast, especially the croissants and pain au chocolat, was freeze, which is not acceptable for the quality of a 4 stars hotel. Orange jus is cut with water, doesn't taste good at all. This is an average breakfast for a 2-star hotel, not for a 4-star hotel. I was disappointed about my breakfast. I went to a bakery to buy a nice fresh croissant and pain au chocolat. The dressing gown was dirty and ripped. No sleepers in the room. I cannot add my pictures there doesn't allow me to do it. |I do enjoy my Easter break at your hotel. Even it was just for one night.
