"Le Fond, a French bistro in Greenpoint, will close in October as the chef and owner Jake Eberle moves upstate. Allyx Seemann will take over the space and open a new restaurant, Gator, this fall." - Luke Fortney

"Le Fond is a casual French bistro in Greenpoint, NYC, owned by Jacob Eberle. It allows customers to participate in creating the weekly menu via Instagram. The restaurant offers a mix of French and international dishes, including comfort foods like cheeseburgers. During the coronavirus lockdown, it shifted to a takeout model with scheduled pickups to ensure social distancing." - Tanay Warerkar

Le Fond feels too good to be true. It’s a cozy little spot with a simple wine and food menu. It’s one of those places where you cannot make a bad choice. And on top of all that, it’s very reasonably priced. It feels local, low-key and home made, but with Michelin level taste and presentation. Each dish we had last night brought us somewhere. We started with a gazpacho presented in a champagne glass. It was very authentic, transporting us immediately to a trip we made to Madrid. We then shared three small plates, all delicious, the stand out being a chive and cherry tomato tagliatelle. Again giving an authentic flavor, this time on par with the best pastas we’ve had in Italy. Then, we shared a roasted duck entree that sat over crispy potatoes. The duck fat was perfectly crispy and the middle tender. Finally, we shared a strawberry tartlet with fresh strawberries and blueberries. It was a perfect meal as usual. Part of me doesn’t want to write this to gate keep this cozy place but I couldn’t help myself!

I've had the pleasure of dining here three times now, and each time, I leave very pleased and impressed. Jake and his team prepare an amazing variety of dishes - always fresh and always flavorful. The service is top tier without being overwhelming or overdone. Thank you Le Fond for your delicious food, great atmosphere, consistent service, and neighborhood charm. Cannot wait to see you again soon.

Came here with friends and enjoyed the delicious, beautifully executed, and very reasonably priced prix fixe. My fluke fish was cooked to flaky perfection. The homemade berry kombucha was a refreshing summer delight. Service was, let’s say, “French-paced”allowing lots of time for conversation. My only complaint was that the A/C was rather weak, we left the restaurant sweating! Either way, looking forward to returning to explore their next new seasonal menu :)

Fantastic experience at Le Fond—a refined yet cozy ambiance at this neighborhood gem with delicious food! Loved being able to sample multiple first plates, and amazed that we didn’t feel weighed down by everything we ate (only pictured the tomatoes and gnocchi here). Fries were indulgent and definitely will be coming back!

In my opinion, this is one of the best values for a tasting/pre fixe menu in the five boroughs. For around $50 you get four courses, two of which are main sized portions. Quantity is one thing but the quality is most important. I have NEVER had an experience here that wasn’t stellar. The flavors are always on point and the menu is always changing. Don’t sleep on the fresh made bread!

I’m going to miss this place so, so much. It’s one of the few true 10/10 places around, I had a duck that made me believe in god. The service is also top notch, all waiters are very knowledgeable of the ever changing menu. RIP Le Fond - You’ll be missed by all of Greenpoint.

Dinner here was absolutely amazing! Love the creativity of the daily menus. The cabbage appetizer and steak frites were unreal. As was the apple almond cake dessert. Their homemade bread & butter was wonderful.

We came here after not getting seated somewhere else. The vibes were sleepy but we were optimistic when we realized it was happy hour. The sourdough was absolutely divine and as someone who is a novice at baking my own sourdough, this was the crème de la crème. Moist and tangy with salted butter mmm *chefs kiss* To be honest, the meal was somewhat disappointing after the sourdough. Only because the portions were comically small. We had to do a bang bang (what I call eating two different meals back to back for the fun of it) and headed to Rosette at Brooklyn Winery for a huge cheese board to satiate our boozy group of 4 women. Maybe we should have just done the prix-fixe option but we opted to share several things and each only got 1-2 bites of every dish.
