The Best New Brunches in Denver | Eater Denver

"This jazzy bistro in the 9+CO development builds its brunch menu around French classics — croques madames, crepes Suzette, moules frites — while adding some Senegalese flair in honor of the owners’ heritage: Think Brie and baobab preserves or chicken yassa on brioche washed down with the hibiscus-infused tequila cocktail called Le Bissap." - Ruth Tobias

Gorgeous, delicious pastries! The food is made with high quality ingredients and with quite large portions. Super delicious food! Great staff, the owner is so friendly. Great location and patio. It does get busy at times, because it's wonderful, so keep that in mind! Highly recommend for breakfast, brunch, and lunch!

Google
The best restaurant in Boulder! The owner and staff are so lovely and accommodating, always gifting many smiles and creating an authentic experience. The food is fantastic as well - fresh pastry and big portions. There is so much on the menu to choose from for everyone, and everything is prepared very fresh! 10/10 recommend 🌟

Google
Their crepes are tasty as well as their fruit tarts. I also liked their coffee. It's a great dining place for brunch etc. They have indoor and outdoor seating options.

Google
I cannot say enough good things about this place. The food is AMAZING. I highly recommend the almond croissant and the croque veggie sandwich, but you really can't go wrong. Coffee drinks are also delicious. The staff, especially the owner, are SO friendly. She is such a bright spot during visits. I always bring out of town guests here.

Google
Delicious pastries, amazing service, cute patio! We had a wonderful breakfast - were greeted by the friendly staff and were checked in on multiple times throughout the meal. The Nutella crepe was amazing and the chocolate almond croissant tasted freshly baked and was warm and delicious. Also great scrambled eggs and cappuccino. Love this place!

I found Le French Café today and I will be returning! My friend and I enjoyed a nice brunch there, and the café had a pleasant, preppy vibe. The staff was courteous and friendly and the food was quick after ordering at the counter. I had Les Savory Crepe - Swiss cheese, bacon, eggs, and mushroom with buckwheat was delicious! My friend had the ratatouille and she said it was so tasty. I also ordered an almond croissant, and raspberry clafoutis to go and I will definitely recommend.

Google
Always great fresh pastry and good service. They have a really nice patio area in summer and a nice place for a latte and a snack

Google
New favorite cafe in Boulder. Delicious dessert options, but the savory was my favorite. Highly recommend the Cannois. The eggplant is a beautiful touch! Crepes are delicious. Their brie sandwich was a bit dry. Can't go wrong with desserts here!

Yelp
Adorable. Delicious. Charming. GREAT food. The service was speedy - right to your table. You enter ... they give you a table number (in French if you speak French!) and you order at counter ... then sit! Table service ! No rush. Relaxed and peaceful. The outdoor patio was not crowded together at all. Could chat and not worry being overheard and couldn't hear table-neighbor convo either. Local charm with extra added delicious! We had paninis. Salad. Fries. Latte. Lemon crepe. Fruit tarts. All spectacular. Can't wait to come back!!!!

Yelp
We had such a great experience at Le French Café in Boulder! It's a cozy, charming little spot. We ordered the Brest sandwich on a croissant, the chicken and spinach omelette, and a Nutella crêpe--and everything was delicious. The croissant was buttery and flaky, the omelette was fresh and flavorful, and the crêpe hit the spot--sweet, light, and just the right amount of indulgent. What really stood out, though, was the vibe. The owner is incredible--so happy, warm, and welcoming. She greeted everyone with a big smile, and you could tell she genuinely loves what she does. The service was quick and friendly, and it made the whole experience even better. This is our must stop spot every time we visit Boulder.

Yelp
Super cute place. They set you and then you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. 3 of us shared quiche Lorraine, and an Olivia crepe. Perfect afternoon snack. Service was great. They are so helpful and offer great suggestions.

Yelp
Cute place in central Boulder. Friendly staff as well. Order at the counter and they bring your food and drink to the table, they bus the tables as well. We ordered latte's which came out quickly. Food portions were large and we both took food home. The quiche Lorraine was delicious. The crepes are available as gluten free - I had the flour crepe with potato and bacon and it was tasty and large. Breakfast meals come with either a salad or French fries which was a miss for both of us. I was hoping for some breakfast potatoes or side of fruit. Might try to come back for lunch. Got some pastries to go - almond croissant and a couple mini-pastries. They were good but not to die for.

Yelp
Great lunch after a little shopping at REI around the corner. Restaurant is cute, with colored chairs and some indoor and outdoor seating. Service was 5 stars. They greeted us and seated us at a table. Then you go up the counter to order. While taking our order the woman was very nice, wishing us a happy women's day and chatting with us. My almond joy latte was also 5 stars. I got the smoked salmon crepe which was pretty good. They also came around and checked on us a few times.

Yelp
After trying their pastries for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I decided it was about time that I give them a try for lunch--boy was this a bad decision. Don't get me wrong, the pastries were tasty, but for the price, they're just not worth it. I'd rather go to another bakery where the pastries aren't small and the quality and taste are much better. A better bang for your buck. Lunch was a huge mistake. Honestly, this place wasn't my first choice, but it just so happened that my #1 pick for the day turned out to be a disappointment too. Any who, I ordered a crepe with Swiss cheese, leeks, and tomatoes, and opted for the buckwheat crepe and fries as the side--the whole thing lacked flavor, except for one bite that was super salty, so I ended up leaving half of my food. On a more positive note, the fries were hot, but they needed salt. On a scale of 1-10, the food was a 3, in my opinion. I'm glad that I tried this cafe, but I definitely won't be returning or recommending.

Yelp
Incredible spot for breakfast in Boulder. Open early for all your French cuisine needs! We had a croissant bacon Swiss and cheese that was delightfully paired with French fries. The lemon and sugar crepe was tart and soft and yummy! Coffee, of course was amazing! Agnes is a bright light of hospitality and joy! The chocolate almond croissant and raspberry mini croissant were both a perfect end to the meal. Love love love this spot. 80s music also was a hit!

Yelp
Le French Café is a must stop if you want delicious food. The dining room is quite charming with all the colors and decor. And you can't beat the service. Our coffee was never empty! It is a little pricey, but definitely worth the cost.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Given the name (café), we thought the menu might be limited, but it wasn't. So many choices! We came for lunch, and they were busy so service took a little longer, but it was definitely worth the wait. Seating was available both indoors and outdoors on a shaded patio. Will come again.

Yelp
Went here for the first time this weekend and it was such a great experience! Everyone who worked there was really friendly and the owner was so welcoming and kind to our family, setting our kids up at their own table to play and constantly checking on us. I was honestly amazed that she was giving every customer so much attention despite how busy it was. The food was great but the service and experience just took it over the top. Merci beaucoup pour un repas mémorable!

Yelp
Great little French cafe. The menu is huge, something for everyone. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Prices are a little on the higher side but comparable for the area.

Stuart W.

Yelp
We love this place. The food is great and the service is fast and friendly. I'm a big fan of their sandwiches and my wife loves their quiche (I do too).

Yelp
Whether you are coming down the flat irons trails, going in after church, or cruising through Boulder. Going into this restaurant will be a great choice. With outdoor seating and inside dinning you won't go wrong in any season. I've had the liberty of meeting the owner and she is a magnificent host and business owner. Genuine along with her staff they will all make you feel at home. With the multiple savory crepes they have, and other French breakfast and lunch options no dietary restrictions may be an obstacle. The coffee is on point, I recommend to also indulge in the pastries and take some bread home. But if you also want some beer, ciders, or wine... you will feel like you're in a cozy place in Paris.

Yelp
There is a reason why the line is consistently out the door!! This cafe is loaded with character, and feels very cozy. I ordered the honey lavender latte which was spectacular! The lavender flavoring was perfect! Not too strong, great latte!! I also had the ham and Swiss crepe with fries and I really enjoyed the meal. The fries were so flavorful and the perfect texture. The crepe was light and airy - cooked to perfection! The owner is very sweet and friendly! Would definitely return

Yelp
The food was very good and the staff are so nice! The owner ran the register and it was so cool seeing the passion she has for this place. She was adamant that if we did not like our food to let them know and they would fix it. I had the Basquaise crepe (I think that's how you spell it idk) and it was pretty good. I liked how all the vegetables were cut up small so it was not hard to eat. I added a bit of salt and pepper (btw they have very great salt) and it livened up all the savory flavors. Entrees come with either fries or a salad and I tried the salad. The salad admittedly was not my favorite since I usually added a decent amount of cheese to mine, but the dressing was very interesting. It had the zing of a vinaigrette but was less intense and had small chunks of something throughout, maybe anchovies idk. My husband had the ham and cheese croissant which was amazing! His fries were pretty good, the phenomenal salt on them stole the show in the best way and paired great with the ketchup. The restroom was good and I liked how there were chairs in the hall so you can sit if there is a line.

Yelp
I love this place! The food is always great and hits the spot. The staff are so friendly and remember me even though i dont get to go to often. They make the day better with their friendly smiles and warmth. The seating is cozy and eclectic and has a great patio to sit on when there is good weather

Yelp
Very lucky find while in Boulder. The food is so great and the staff are friendly. Loving this panini.

Yelp
This has quickly become one of my favorite spots in town. The food is high quality and made with heart - from baked treats, to huge salads, beautiful breakfasts and for something special, the beef bourguignon over frites is incredible. The owner is so kind and provides such a nice environment, she is especially sweet to my kiddo and has a whole little section of toys for him to enjoy while we eat. I wish I found Le French sooner.

Yelp
This is a lovely place to have some delicious brunch. If you are looking for a new brunch place with lighter non American dishes, you will love it. We ordered the smoked salmon baguette, berrichons, and a salter caramel crepe. All are amazing but the crepe was a pleasant surprise. The caramel was a little bitter and not too sweet, very much an acquired taste to fall in love with after a few bites. One thing to be aware is that they are very popular, so make sure you get yourself in line before you get too hungry.
google avatar

Alix J.

Yelp
Pricey for what you get which is why I don't go very often, but the owners are sweet and hard working, love the variety, and gf options. Plus the free parking and WiFi

Yelp
Tried the special steak frites and what a mistake that was. Ribeye,--asked to have it med rare, came out rare. Sent it back, always risky and it came back well done and tough as leather. Chef's retaliation for complaining I guess. My fries were cold and hard, my friends were hot and crispy. Wow. For. $25+ for a lunch entree, not good, not edible and not returning.I left over 80% of my expensive lunch. Their miniature sized pastries are good enough, but not for the money. Glad to check this one off our list and will not likely return. Also it was so loud inside for lunch that we had to shout to hear one another. Oh well, there are lots of good places in Boulder to patronize. We lived in Paris for 3+ years and we were so hopeful that this place could be our new go-to. Shamane's and Dry Storage are much much better tasting and much better values.

Thomas B.

Yelp
The lollipop lamb special was some of the best lamb I've ever had. The seasonings and how it was cooked was top notch. People working here are super friendly and make you feel right at home

Carrie H.

Yelp
My first time here was amazing as I was greeted with the owner who was so nice and welcoming. The food was amazing and priced very well. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!

Yelp
One of my favorite regular spots in Boulder! The staff, particularly Agnes, is always so kind and friendly and food is consistently amazing! The outdoor patio is lovely and the fresh pastries are irresistible. Definitely a fan favorite!

Yelp
Wanted breakfast / brunch in Boulder, but not the regular eggs and omelets. Le French Cafe was highly ranked on Yelp. For a reason. Was greeted by who I have to guess was the French lady that owns the place. She was so so personable and great. My daughter said "Wow, she is amazing". The food was absolutely awesome. I had a salmon croissant sandwich and a raisin danish, she had a mozzarella, tomato and oil baguette and a raspberry custard danish. Just outstanding. Super fresh food, great service and fast (even for 10am on a Sunday). Highly Recommend Came back March 12 2023: Continues to be one of our favorite places to eat in Boulder. Literally some of the best food you can get. Amazing. Have a quiche with mushrooms and ham and it was as fluffy as a soufflé. Son had croque monsieur - just awesome. Can not recommend highly enough.

Yelp
Reliably tasty French food, open for breakfast and lunch. Incredibly extensive menu, with panini, baguette sandwiches, a huge variety of salads, some bistro favorites, and beautiful delicious fruit tarts, croissants in the case at the front of the restaurant. Ordering is at the front, but otherwise attentive table service. I particularly enjoy the lyonnaise salad, which I've had several times. Dining companions have loved the Niçoise salad. Great place for casual lunch, brunch or breakfast. Indoor seating plus a nice outdoor patio.

Yelp
Love this place so much their breakfast food is just delicious, service is grand and their baked goods are fresh. The owner is so gracious and the place is always Full with customers and you can feel the good vibes Can't wait to go back

Yelp
Our favorite place to stop when going to Denver. Wonderful food, nice atmosphere, and the hostess with the mostest! Fun!

Yelp
My experience at Le French Cafe has been wonderful each time. The ambience is always bright, cheery and joyful. The food has always been delicious--perfectly prepared and lovingly served. My last meal there was the fluffiest, cheesiest, most delicious Quiche aux Poireaux. Swiss and leeks. The salad was fresh and an excellent accompaniment. The baguettes are so fresh and chewy authentically French. The other tarts and treats are always tempting. There are many choices of drinks from coffee to sodas to wine and beer. Now on the carry out side, I highly recommend the boeuf bourguignon with pasta and the ratatouille. One container each has 4 servings in my house. I can't wait to try the raclette. Next time. Thanks Mme Agnes and Chef Quentin for many delicious, authentic French meals.

Yelp
What a great find! My wife and I, along with our granddaughter who attends CU, went for lunch. I had a savory crepe--the Meridionale--made with white flour, with a side of fries. This was absolutely delicious. For dessert my wife and I shared a nutella crepe--the Alyce. The service was wonderful and the staff was welcoming and friendly. Five stars!
google avatar

Jenny B.

Yelp
Phenomenal food quality and service. Love being able to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. I'm gluten free, but can cheat about once every 2 weeks, and this place is worth the cheat the croissants are fabulous. Been going here for years and I'm never disappointed.
google avatar

Lydia A.

Yelp
The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious! We only tried a few things but I genuinely don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

Maria C F.

Yelp
Everything is excellent! Fries with breakfast? Why not! They have the best fries, I think it's the thick salt they use. I normally don't like a soft fry but theirs r awesome. Owner is very attentive & upbeat. The bakery is incredible. There's a square pastry that looks like it has raspberries on the bottom, can't remember what it's called. Almost has a hard pudding consistency, not flaky dough. It's great!
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful French cafe in Boulder! Super delicious food and quick service considering the crowdedness of the place on a Saturday morning. I had the petit dejeuner. The bread was so good and I substituted for the chocolate almond croissant which was so so amazing. Everything isn't too sweet and baked to perfection. The fruit tart was also super good. Crust is perfectly crispy and not too sweet. Huge amount of strawberries on top too. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Hannah J.

Yelp
Easily my favorite brunch. The savory crepes are generously filled and you can get mimosas here as well. The ambiance is causal and comfortable but also put-together. Service tends to be good although occasionally finding a table can be a challenge. Not a great spot to do takeout because it's too fun to just be there. I recommend sitting down and enjoying slowly. Especially if you are lucky enough to end up on the patios
google avatar

Aria B.

Yelp
The food here is excellent. I have returned three times. The employees are very friendly and the service is excellent. Definitely a great place to eat if you're in Boulder.
google avatar

Yelp
Le French Cafe has great sandwiches and pastries. I love the Le Mans and Avignon. It's their bread that makes the sandwich. Their fruit tarts are tasty. The owners work their asses off also. Taking orders, running food out but taking the time to be so friendly to customers.
google avatar

Stuart M.

Yelp
We had cappucinos and weren't impressed. But we enjoyed everything else. I had the swiss, bacon, mushroom crepe and elected to use buckwheat flour. Hearty flavors but it needed a little more swiss cheese. My wife went with a Montagnard which is a prosciutto, and raclette filled toasted sandwich. We both got side salads. It was a satisfying breakfast with a few minor flaws.

Scott B.

Yelp
Every time our family visits Boulder, Le French Cafe is on the agenda. The lady behind the counter is a sweetheart and the food is amazing! Deion needs to eat here.
google avatar

Dung N.

Yelp
I originally wanted a crepe, but ended up getting the croq' monsieur instead. They ran out of the iced tea of the day, so I opted for a hot chocolate. My friend ordered the croq' madame and a hot beverage as well. This cafe is pretty cute, but there was a giant bug on the window where we were sitting at that kept buzzing around. For the side items, I chose the potatoes, which were basically seasoned fries and my friend got a salad. I really enjoyed my meal here and thought that the food was very authentic!
google avatar

Nat V.

Yelp
The food was good. The owner was too loud. The wait staff looked unhappy. Solution? Maybe order to go and bring noise cancelling headphones while you wait. Be nice to the staff and tip them well.

Yelp
Really Great food and really great people speaking French language and really great food I 100 recommend this restaurant to yall to try

Yelp
Charming brunch-lunch place that does as much business selling its delightful pastries to go as it does with table service. Food: Crepes, sandwiches, pastries, just what you would expect from a little diner in France. Nothing life-altering, but all quite good. Drink: Espressos, various coffee drinks. Good. Service: Service on our visit was a little harried -- just one person (the owner) manning all the tables, inside and out. Orders are given at the counter. That said, the service was tolerably fast and pleasant. Atmosphere: Not a romantic French restaurant. Brightly painted, travel posters on the walls. But the place was clean and pleasant. Overall: This is a go-to spot for our friends in the area, with good reason. We'll be back again. Recommended.
google avatar

Mary Jane C.

Yelp
The desserts here are for sweettooths, so be prepared for a major sugar rush. My friends thought the pastries were way too sweet. I just fixed that by pairing every bite with a sip of cold milk. My favorite was the hazelnut chocolate croissant. It had a thin caramelized layer in it. Interesting croissant texture. Pistachio chocolate croissant was my second favorite. Neither had the the typical flaky croissant texture but the filling flavors make up for it. The tart was good but I thought it would've been better without the glaze. It was already extra rich. Service: The French lady has lots of enthusiasm. Must be from all the extra sugary desserts there. Covid-19: Indoor dining available, but I opted for takeout. Capacity limited. Very clean (even bathroom). Hand sanitizer available.

Yelp
The food was great! And sitting on the back porch was so peaceful. The staff is very friendly. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
After many years of deprivation, Boulder has an authentic French bakery and cafe! The pastries are unbelievable, I especially love the raisin ones and the savory croissants. But what makes the place truly special is how friendly they are, and how welcome my son feels any time we come in - they always chat him up, and they have a bin of legos for the kids to play with. Parking in front of the building is very limited, but there's a big lot near McGuckin nearby for overflow. This place is worth coming to!

Yelp
Such a lovely lunch experience. We stopped in for a late lunch and enjoyed several different items. Together we ordered a fruit tart with beautiful berries on top, croissant pudding (my husband said it was divine), Cesar salad, 2 Avignon sandwiches (fresh and seasoned well), two chocolate milks (one with optional whipped cream and one without that the kids really enjoyed, and cherry croissant as well as the Biarritz which- might I warn you- is yummy as well as enormous. We also got a latte and a cappuccino (for me, which was so nice and perfect for these grey days we've been having so often). The owner is really lovely and makes you feel right at home and extremely welcome in a way that is unusual in this day and age. Our 8yo son was looking rather hangry as we made our decisions, and the lovely owner noticed and gave him a mini raspberry croissant to snack on while we ordered and waited, which was such a tender and kind gesture I know I won't soon forget. Tasty, fresh ingredients, friendly and wonderful owner& staff, and delicious food. We'll definitely be back, and we hope you do too. There's indoor as well as outdoor seating, lots of yummy fresh bread and treats, perfect coffees, and in a great location.

Yelp
Holy shit so good. Drinks 10/10, food 10/10, service 10/10. We headed over to wood grain to get bagels and saw the le French cafe sign and decided to try out something new. Best decision ever. I've never even left a review for anyone before, that's how good it was lol

Yelp
High fan of this place. Real French food. Best coffee ever. Best customer service ever
