Super cute and very busy French little restaurant. It's the perfect brunch spot on a cold day. We both had omelettes where you choose the ingredients, they come with fries and salad. The only down fall is there is not a waiting area. If you are seated by the door as we were you constantly have people on top of waiting.

Staff was great and their recommendations were perfect for what we wanted, the french onion soup was spectacular and the atmosphere really felt like you were in a French café - my new neighborhood favorite.

Atmosphere and pricing was great! Steak wasn’t my favorite but fries were great as well as with the salad. My friend got the burger and loved it. Staff was the perfect balance of attentive but not overbearing.

Such a lovely French spot with a bright and welcoming atmosphere. The croque-madame was delicious, though the sauce was just a little on the sweet side for my taste. The ratatouille was flavorful, with a nice spicy kick, and the Québécoise was really good and very filling. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality of food and service makes it worthwhile. The interior is quite unique, with lots of interesting details that make the place stand out. It’s also really cool that they have daily specials and a Happy Hour. The last time we were there, we had the profiterole for dessert, and despite its high price, it was absolutely worth it. The portion was large, and the dessert was delicious, with a wonderfully creamy filling inside. What’s also really great is that they recommend dishes that are genuinely fantastic, and you can tell they truly care about your experience. What really impressed us was the service — the waitress was incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. Every time we visit, the staff are always kind and cheerful. However, it was a bit unpleasant that they charged us for the bread. It didn’t seem completely fresh, and $5 for a couple of slices of bread feels a bit much. It would be better for the managment to reconsider that pricing. Great place in general! Definitely coming back 🥰

Came here for a quick lunch on a Sunday. We waited around 20-30 minutes for a table it was not super just not a lot of space for a party of 5. The service was okay, super friendly staff, however, we asked for milk 3 times and someone in our party asked for their eggs well done they received them sunny side up instead. Three people ordered steak frites with different cooked temperature, they were all cooked the same and not the way any one requested. The eggs florentine was good and the side salad was yummy! Also the baguette was served nice and warm which was delicious just wish they brought it out first as a starter instead of all together. Truly an overall okay experience, we ate okay food, but were not blown away by anything.

The accompanying salad, however, leaned heavy on the dressing—what could’ve been a crisp, refreshing contrast instead felt weighed down. A lighter hand here would have gone a long way. One friend ordered the burger, which she found decent, though she noted the flavors didn’t quite meld as well as they could have—perhaps a seasoning issue or simply a matter of execution. Meanwhile, the other two in our group were more than pleased with their sandwiches, finishing them enthusiastically and without a single note of complaint. Though I didn’t get the chance to try the oysters or escargot this time around, both are on the list for a future visit. I’d especially recommend stopping by for happy hour, where the atmosphere truly comes alive—and if you’re a fan of a well-poured Aperol Spritz, this is the place for it. Le Gamin doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it leans into comfort and charm, with just enough personality to warrant a return.

Absolutely loved this place. Unfortunately didn’t get any pics-too just enjoying! Shared the burger and marshmallow cookie with a friend and bothering were delish. Exceptional service. A perfect neighborhood French bistro.

Le Gamin has a fun and lively vibe with a French style open layout. The food was good…but the music was quite loud, and the seating feels a bit too close to other diners. The door didn’t shut properly, so the manager kept having to go back to close it, and it made the space freezing at times. These are small things, but addressing them would have made the experience even better. Still, it’s a lively spot for a night out!

A neighborhood favorite. Amazing brunch or breakfast. Honestly a good dinner spot as well, but as a pescatarian the options are very limited unless I'm in the mood for muscles.

We decided to check out Greenpoint instead of heading into Manhattan. We discovered that Cafe Panna is opened there now, but the line was formidable as the one in the city, perhaps worse since it was a hot, sunny day. We wanted to eat first so we walked along Franklin Street and checked some places along the street and along some side streets. The street is filled with cafes, restaurants, and little neighborhood shops and a laundromat. Still has some of the old neighborhood vibe, but definitely becoming more gentrified. We passed Le Gamin at first. But after we made the round, we decided to dine here when a cute little sandwich place was closing. It was too early for dinner and late for brunch so there was only one table with a small group, perhaps a book club. The interior makes you feel like you are in a small neighborhood joint in France. The service was friendly and the food was simple, but well executed. We opted for the items on the day's special menu. My husband can't pass up merguez, and I wanted something light, so I got the fried goat cheese salad. Both dishes were solid. The fries with merguez were golden perfection and the Dijon mustard had a serious kick! Merguez had just the right amount of spices. My husband ate up those fries so fast, that I didn't have that many. Usually I'm the one that eats most of the fries. Lol! My salad wasn't the pretties to look at but boy was it tasty. I loved the fried goat cheese and all the different ingredients in the salad. I forget what kind of goat cheese it was but it had more of a solid and crumbly texture, not so creamy. It had the perfect amount of tang and gave the salad the heft to make it a meal. The service was lovely as well as the ambience. I would love to just dine there alone with a book. The price is a bit higher than I would like, but it's much cheaper than going to France.

Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars, but closer to 3. Le Gamin is a really cutely decorated French cafe/restaurant. They have a simple, traditional menu with brunch and lunch items. We got the galette with mushroom/swiss/chicken and the Gamin burger with sunny side up egg. The galette was unremarkable, somewhat overpriced. The burger was well made (medium rare). The patty was juicy and thick. However, it was near impossible to eat and so messy. The egg on the top and caramelized onions on the bottom resulted in a slippery, drenched burger. We only had 1 napkin per person too. Left slightly hungry, grabbed a slice of pizza afterwards.

Our food and the pitcher of fall sangria was good. It was a pretty strong pitcher, but expensive compared to other spots I've been to. Kind staff and good service.

I was watching a friend's cat in Greenpoint and it was lovely Sunday evening, so I took the long way back to the train station. By chance I came across Le Gamin and discovered they had a Mussels Night on Sunday, where just $20 will buy you mussels, fries and a glass of wine. Being the seafood fan I am, my dinner plans changed immediately. Le Gamin is an adorable cafe reminiscent of the same kind of cafe you'll find in Paris. The ambience is very French, and when the sun hits the the cafe in the evening it's absolutely lovely. A waiter came by shortly after arrival (a somewhat non-French touch) and provided me with a menu, which I briefly browsed to not look so excited for the mussels special. The menu overall has French classics, and I look forward to returning sometime to try the rest, but Sunday night is Mussels Night and I ordered accordingly. My wine (white) came out first and was perfectly serviceable for the price. But the main event was the mussels, and just look at them. Flavored wonderfully with garlic and white wine, I was (very pleasantly) shocked by the quantity. The fries were fine as well (excellent thickness and crispness), though nothing to write home about. I worked dutifully through my pile of mussels and only found myself disappointed that I was embarrassed to order more. Speaking to the staff while waiting for the bathroom, apparently the special is relatively new (June 2023), and I know I'll certainly back. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Exceptional in every aspect!! We were greeted very warmly and seated promptly. My mom uses a wheelchair, the staff is truly outstanding, even went outside to help fold and bring inside. Really appreciate!! Madison walked us through the menu and specials. Big fan of their Chocolat Chaud, perfect with Grand Marnier. Escargot is an absolute must, we would have ordered two if we didn't get Foie Gras and Tarte Flambee. For mains we ordered to share Salmon Linguini, Berkshire Pork Chop, Beef Borguignon and Steak Frites. The linguini sauce is a delight, the meats were surprisingly tender/juicy and the lentils were amazing. Every dish was so delicious, we finished every bite. For desserts, we enjoyed Apple Tartin and Chestnut Crepe. Perfect balance of flavors and emphasis on natural sweetness instead of adding too much sugar. Instant favorite and for sure we will be back!!

I had a wonderful experience at Le Gamin. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was phenomenal, everything my husband and I ordered was cooked to perfection. Our server, Scott, was attentive and friendly offering helpful recommendations from the menu. Alma also did a great job with our drinks she made the Perfect espresso martini. We will definitely return.

Nice vibe, nice staff, ordinary food - honestly, diner standard at inflated prices. Pasta was overcooked in the salmon linguine - hardly worth $33 plus tax plus tip.

Food took forever to come. Awful. Terrible table service and they dumped 1/2 of my meal after i asked them to doggy bag it. They didn't care when i called to complain about my food being 1/2 gone. So here i am on yelp.

Dined here on a weekend with a friend. Duck confit (3/10): potatoes were almost dripping in oil but very flavorful, however the duck was way over cooked, almost scorched and lacked any flavor other than its natural taste. It was just extremely dry and I was not impressed. Tarte Tatin (8/10): pretty solid dessert! A little on the sweeter side, crust was delicious but much too thin for my liking... almost like a sweet flatbread Not going to rate the brie + miel platter, though I will say the baguette was excellent.

Stopped by for dinner after watch the beautiful sunset. For starters, our servers here was super friendly to chat with and checked up on us throughout to make sure we were having a good time! Ordered the Chablis to pair with our dinner: Duck Confit and Pear Tart. It's quite rare to find Chablis on many wine menus so I was super happy to get that here! I had the Pear Tarte for dinner and was expecting more pear in the pear tart. Besides that, the tart was perfectly buttery, sweetened and the cream on top was one of the better ones I've had. Absolutely enjoyed this off-menu daily specials order. Would've liked more pear or fruitiness for max balance, but again, enjoyed this still. Would've definitely want to revisit for the quality of food, the Chablis, quite interiors and the great service.

Pretty cute restaurant! We came at 12 pm on a Sunday and were able to take the last table inside. I rarely eat French food, so I was in the mood to try something new. My friend got the chicken sandwich, while I got the oeuf gamin, which was a ratatouille topped with a goat cheese/potato hash and a poached egg. I didn't know what to expect, but the hash was really good! It was a little gamey, but perfectly crispy on the outside and actually just fun to eat. The ratatouille itself tasted standard--it was my first time trying ratatouille and it was fine but didn't wow me. Overall, not a bad spot!

Charming little spot in Greenpoint! We met friends for dinner and they suggested this restaurant for a quiet, low key dinner. Definitely very quiet for a weekday though it seems it's rather popular with local residents. Decent French bistro fare though I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to dine here.

Best cookies in NYC!!!! I haven't tried anything else, but it's definitely worth the visit if you like your cookies to be chewy and super caramelized.

I came here to have a lunch with friend of mine since I had seminar not far. The stuff we're very friendly and seated us at their small garden. Their drinks are tasty. Ordered sandwiches . And special for day was lobster burger and lamb burger. My lobster burger was really good and juicy.

Super cute French spot in Brooklyn! I was very satisfied with my Smoked Salmon plate along with the salad. My sister and I shared a pitcher of mimosa which was very light but delicious. Our waiter was very nice, wish I got his name for the review. He was very kind. Would come back again.

Time and time again I try new, "hip" spots in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area just to be disappointed. Le Gamin breaks the mold by being reliably delicious with impeccable service. It's a testament to management that the same faces have been serving there for 10+ years. Standouts from the menu include the Quebecoise, the Burger, and a new addition in their Pork Chop. The ambiance is quaint and cozy and I have wiled away many an afternoon over a chocolat gamin here. Hats off!

let me start by saying three stars is not a bad review. I liked this place but the food was not outstanding enough for a four star review. this was a very hipster take on french fare. the atmosphere is quaint, ideal for for a one on one girls brunch or a quick bite.

We looked for a place to eat after a great ax throwing outing This place was right down the block, so we walked in. Cozy very European looking. Small place that can seat about 30. Nice change from going Italian most of the time. We're greeted by Abram and are seated in the back. He advises us that later they're showing a French film at about 7:30. He also discusses his background which was nice. A very congenial young man!! We're sitting right under the screen, it's early a bit after 5 so we're ok We order two glasses of cotes d'Rhone at his suggestion. Nice and smooth, full-bodied. The menu has some great traditional French dishes. We decide on the foie gras Which us presented beautifully with and apricot spread. I find the the foie gras on the mild side, but my son loves it For main course the specials are duck and a lasagna bolognese. I know I know Italian, but I can't help myself! Madison was out delightful waitress with a pleasant way about her! Made for an enhanced experience from the get-go! The entrees take time to come out. If you're in a hurry slow down and just enjoy the ambiance So the lasagna was delicious. Sauce tasty sweet. Truly hit the spot. The duck also was very tender and juicy. Salad had a Dijon mustard dressing which really tasted magnificent. We both loved it. The food was generous, and we wound up taking it home. No espresso tonight. But we'll be back!

Le Gamin definitely reminds brings me back the memories and ambiance when I visited Paris. Food is amazing when you explore very basic French menu, love their French onion soup, french baguette with prosciutto and cheeses. I love their specials and don't miss out on the backyard garden!

Super cute French spot in Brooklyn, food was awesome, service was great and quick! We came here for business lunch and they were able to accommodate us so quickly. I had the lamb burger my friend had the lobster burger and other friend had chicken burger.

wish i could give them more stars as they've been around so long and always provide a cozy atmosphere, but unfortunately the food often leaves something to be desired. as a frenchie whose grandmother made her croque monsieurs for many a gouter, this croque and its thick, floury, unseasoned bechamel is a huge bummer :(

I never leave Yelp reviews. This burrata, prosciutto, melon salad was one of the best things I've ever eaten. I had to leave a five star review and I would give it a sixth star if I could. Service was great, environment was great, food was incredible. Shout out to our server Daniel for a great night.

I'd probably have given them more stars, but service was non-existent at best. I had the half chicken and my friend the salad niscoise. The salad was good, my half chicken was ok nothing spectacular flavor profile wise. The only good part of our meal where the drinks. I had a French 75 and they had a Hemingway cocktail. Both were tasty But as always it comes down to service. A deal breaker in my eyes

An absolutely perfect night! The food, the ambiance, the wine, and the service and server. The light jazz just added to the candlelight and perfect setting. Wellfleet oysters, chicken cordon blue - NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE IT (tender chicken with smoky ham, wow) with a medley of fresh vegetables including cauliflower, green beans, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. I was a single diner enjoying every bit of it but noted what a perfect date setting or even a group of friends. Ah, and the two glasses of cote du Rhône, magnifique. Thanks you for such a perfect, perfect evening.

Le Gamin is a wonderful and authentic French restaurant in Greenpoint. We went for a late brunch this past Sunday around 1 and were able to be seated right away. We noticed that every table was filled around 1:30 ish and remained that way. For every group that left there was another that walked right in and took their place. There were quite a few people who came alone so it's also a good place for solo dining. My partner ordered the galette au sarasin with goat cheese, ham and caramelized onions. He especially enjoyed the caramelized onions as they aren't common in a good amount of the dishes. I ordered an egg white omelette with Brie, aged cheddar and chicken. The desserts were absolutely delicious. I haven't had a good crepe in YEARS and the butter sugar crepe brought back so many memories for me as a student learning French and about the culture as my first instructor used to always make us these crepes and for my partner whose grandmother used to make crepe's regularly. Thé Banana Flambée was really good as well! The weeknight vs the weekend is a very different vibe. It was incredibly romantic, very limited lighting and a candle on each table. They have fun themed days during the week. We actually tried our fondue Monday's this week. It was good but would have been even better if they had a burner or something to keep the cheese from clumping together and continue melting. It was also completely empty when we came in so at least during the winter youu probably don't need a dinner reservation.

Nice relaxing atmosphere and had a great brunch with friends. Staffs were friendly and professional. Solid menu and great rose wine selection.

Definitely deserves more than 3.5 stars! Soothing, low volume, conversational music. Seething inside, outside, and a patio in the back. Very tasty and the service is great! The music though!!!

One of our favorite little quaint spots in the neighborhood. Food is always good, everyone that works there is very nice. It's not always super fast, but it's definitely worth it! Haven't had a bad meal here and always look forward to my next. :)

I really wanted to like this place. Like really really wanted too and let me start this review off by saying that the staff is great; we were an eccentric bunch and they were accommodating and patient with us. My friends were a little... tipsy shall I say, but I got them under control and the waitress took it in stride. The ambiance is great. One of the best I have been too in a while. The back patio is well decorated and cozy; you feel as if you are in the French countryside. On to the food. I ordered the lobster risotto and while the lobster was perfectly cooked, the sauce and risotto was off. The sauce was a bit heavy and there was definitely more of it than there was rice. The steak tartar and escargot were phenomenal though! I'm def going to give this place another try but do not recommend the risotto at all.

My family and I love French food and this is one of the most authentic French restaurants in the city! The duck confit and steak tartare are the standouts but everything we order has been good!

Update: I have ordered delivery from here twice, and I have never received food. The second time, no one bothered to tell me that the order was canceled. Apparently they didn't have a delivery person and couldn't be bothered to let me know. The food isn't bad, but it certainly is not worth the hassle and disappointment of not getting your food. Also the first time they didn't deliver my food, they kept the tip and I still had to pay for the Seamless fee. Don't order from here unless you can go and pick it up. You will just be disappointed. No one at that restaurant gives two hoots either. Just order from a different place, any other place. Fool me once, shame on you. Don't bother to tell me that my food isn't coming as I sit here hangry, shame on me. Never again.

TLDR: Classic French bistro, serving delicious authentic French food, in a cozy romantic space that's not too loud. It's my favorite French restaurant in NYC so far! Overall rating: A++ I've gone here twice. Once last year and one this year. I'm not in the area often. Greenpoint is still fairly industrial. I only happened upon it the first time since it was by the Brooklyn Expo Center. They have AMAZING food here! I just came back from a Paris trip in September and Le Gamin reminds me of the food from my favorite bistro in Paris! Smaller, intimate restaurant. A little dim lighting and the music isn't too loud. Great for dates! Good for smaller groups of 2-4 people. One long table for groups or communal dining in the center of the room I think. The waiters are prompt, patiently explain the day's specials, and make sure you're happy with your food. Onto the food: -Beef Bourguignon entree (beef stew): This was a special from last year, but the memory still hasn't faded! It was excellent and flavorful! I liked that they served it in a cute small cast iron pot! I can't remember what they served with it though. A+ -Confit De Canard (Duck leg slow-cooked in herbs and garlic duck fat served with roasted fingerling potatoes and small mixed greens salad): It was so good! The duck was crispy and rich. The potatoes and salad were good too. The potatoes needed a little salt. Just wish the duck fat on the legs was rendered more and the potatoes were crisper. But that's just me nitpicking. Still an excellent meal! A+ -Glass of prosecco: Very good! It had a very strong apple flavor! They serve prosecco in a coupe or saucer-shaped glasse, often associated with the Great Gatsby and the 1920s! Instead of in the usual champagne flute! I felt very fancy using a coupe! A+ My friend got a gin based cocktail, garnished with juniper berries and flowers. Don't recall the name of it. So pretty! I'm not a fan of floral drinks though. My friend enjoyed her drink and her duck confit immensely! They ran out of baguettes on my second visit. That was slightly appalling for a French restaurant but again I'm just being picky. You can't go anywhere in Paris without bread on your table! Single occupancy, tiny bathroom by the kitchen. I was watching the cooks prep the food while waiting for the bathroom to free up. They all seem to be speaking French. 2 of the waiters were also French speakers. I'm usually too full for dessert, but they serve made to order crepes here! This place is great for an authentic, French meal. HIGHLY recommended!

Stopped by for a dessert crepe, which was listed at $8 on the menu posted in the window. When the bill arrived I'd been charged $16. The explanation went: "the cost is actually $10 (menu hadn't been updated), and when we asked you if you'd like strawberries and whipped cream, well that's an additional $6." This despite whipped cream not being listed as an up charge on the menu. After tip my $8 crepe was $20. This is a truly dishonest, greedy business practice. Won't be back

I had no expectations going in, but I was blown away by their service. The food was delicious and fresh. I highly recommend their poutine dish, the sauce was so creamy and addicting. I accidentally spilled my drink and the waiter was nice enough to replace it, thank you for the amazing service!

In many ways, Le Gamin can be the little French cafe New Yorkers dream of. The early opening time (8am) helped my appreciation of its quiet street and modest neighborhood. Being an early bird, I avoided the typical Sunday brunch war, and got a table right away. Once seated, white bead-boards and useful clutter rendered an underplayed and Americanized Rococo. All these first impressions were backed up by the broad menu, and the excellence of my particular dish. I'd read that the Croque Madame and Croque Monsieur were the kitchen's star preparations, and the latter did not disappoint: A layer of bubbling, crackling, LUXURIOUS cheeses. Perfectly toasted bread, and savory ham. All deliciously complemented by the greens on the plate. And while the "Cajun Bloody Mary" seemed a break from the menu's French focus, it was tasty too.

Absolutely incredible from start to finish. The foie gras was to dieeeee for, came with bread too! Then the duck was honestly the best duck of my life. Cooked perfectly, so tender, crispy skin and full of flavor! The salad and dressing was great too. I usually don't love salads but I crushed this as it was so fresh. The potatoes had a perfect blend of seasoning on it. And the crepe was perfectly light and crispy. I really can't wait to come back soon!!

My friend Beverly and I had lunch at Le Gamin today to kick off my birthday. It's an adorable restaurant and we had made reservations to sit in the back garden which was so quiet and peaceful. Our waiter Scott was fabulous, attentive, generous and fun. We both ordered delicious (and filling) crepes w a side salad, with delicious glasses of prosecco. We were too stuffed to order dessert and opted for cappuccinos instead. All in all, a great experience! I highly recommend if you're in the neighborhood, easily accessible via ferry.

An unexpected, really great French restaurant in Greenpoint. They have a cute sidewalk dining area and back garden patio, but the inside is unfortunately quite plain and mediocre. The menu is very expansive, and covers all of my favorite, traditional French dishes. To start we got the tuna tartar which was fresh and perfectly prepared. For my main I got the duck breast special that came with an amazing port wine sauce, and roasted fingerling potatoes and mushrooms. I would highly recommend this dish and definitely order it again. And for dessert, we got an incredible tarte tatin that was served warm and with vanilla ice cream on the side. The prices are super affordable for such great French cuisine, and I want to return to try the poulet roti, moules frites, and profiterole.

I've been here a few times over the years and I always want it to be better than it is. The food is good but not great-it always feels like it's lacking a little flavor or not cooked long enough. On the plus side, the outdoor seating is pretty lovely!

This place is fine, but overpriced for what you get. My biggest issue is the chicken dish we ordered. Rotisserie Chicken with fries and salad. Basically the cook went to the grocery store and bought a rotisserie chicken. Probably not even that good. Ratatouille was cold. Mussels were fire tho and the waiter was cool.

My friend lives close to this restaurant so we just popped in one Saturday afternoon for brunch and it was quite busy and there was a 25 minute wait. Overall, the food was really good and reasonably priced. It can get pretty chatty in here so if your looking for a quiet place to eat, maybe not here. BUT if you don't mind the noise, the food is definitely worth it!

I want to start by saying that I have been both an employee at restaurants and the proprietor of my own café. I know that this can be a challenging business and know first hand the many invisible factors involved with such a business. Rarely have I complained and go out of my way to make it easy on the servers, hostess, and all employees. I am the person who stack my dishes and cleans my table and leaves good tips. However, I must say that this was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The ambiance was cute, the menu appealing but not one person there knew how to tend their patrons, We (three of us) arrived and although they had a birthday party in the back garden area there were only a handful of people up front. Upon our entry it took a considerable amount of time to even be acknowledged. There was confusion-- not just to us, but to others (who left) whether one should select a table out front and seat themselves or wait to be seated. Likewise, there was no clarity as if we should order inside or outside. We were finally acknowledged and placed our order inside then seated outside. We were very clear about our order and repeated it. It was a quite simple order. We sat for a very long time and others started showing up and and placed their orders and were seated. We waited and waited and then noticed that everyone who had arrived after us were eating their meals. And we had not even been brought water or utensils the very basics of being served, Nor had we received our drinks. A considerable amount of time passed. A member of our group went inside to let them know we had been forgotten. They finally brought our drinks one of which was incorrect and had not been ordered, Still no water, no utensils and no sign of our food. Our order did no come out at the same time, and no utensils were brought and we had to ask for utensils. No napkins brought out and we had to ask for them. I was told that my meal was something I did not order and so went in to correct in. The waitress in a very aggressive fashion pointing at me insisted that is what I ordered and that she wrote it down. However, pulling the order up they found out that I was correct and that they had not written that down. the waiter then took my dish and with his bare hands peeled back everything actually manhandling it saying it was the correct meal. The meal being a crepe. Actually touching the inside pointing nd saying see see. I asked for a manager and was told, "We do not have a manager....he is on vacation" I then was really upset and said that I wanted to be compensated. We were all upset and began talking about the overall experience and half angry and half joking when a drunk man wearing no mask came over and went off. No one from the café came out to assist, Once again we could not eat our dessert as no spoons were brought and we had to ask for them. One person seemed to be hustling while the others stood around. We went to pay the bill and were pleasant but expressed that it was one thing after another, She took off the crepe and did bring drinks but our night was ruined. It was a frenzied in there, they had no idea how to provide service or interact with customers. One star is being kind and I certainly in this description did not capture the mood of the place....it was horrible. No acknowledgement, extreme waits for everything, incorrect food and drink brought out, rude staff, unprofessional conduct, poor service. If that is what the staff does to food in front of customers I hate to see what happens in the kitchen. And despite it all we remained objective and complimented what was nice and expressed what upset us and di leave a tip. We will never eat there again, will never recommend it and we hope by expressing this that others to not go and have their night ruined. if you have someone you really dislike this would be the perfect place to take them . It was a horrible experience.

Unfortunate experience. I preface by saying I acknowledge it's a pandemic and stress and tension is high. I have worked in the restaurant industry as a waitress, bartender, hostess and manager. Tonight my mom, boyfriend, and I went to eat in their outdoor dining. There were 4 people on staff and 5 tables and a large birthday party outback. We ordered oysters, 3 beverages, and 3 desserts. 3 tables we sat after us, all of them got their HOT food and meals before us. We had to ask about our items after about 45 minutes. Then we had to ask for our wine, it finally came out. One of the wine orders was wrong still no water, plates, utensils, or napkins. Then they brought out my BFs oysters. Still no utensils. Had to request napkins. And finally had to ask for water and utensils. Our desserts came out and one of the orders was wrong again. My mom goes in and the hostess argues with her that the order is what she asked for and pointed her finger at her and walked away. The other waiter then takes his BARE hands and pulls up my mom's crepe and says no see that is correct! We are then conversing and yes complaining to each other about the bad service and what just happened, and then a drunk customer (clearly a regular) comes over without a mask on and starts yelling at us about complaining. Screaming and making a scene and the staff sees this and does nothing to intervene with a drunk customer at our table without a mask. We then still have to go back in and have to request spoons for our dessert and we are without utensils again. The food and ambiance would have been lovely. The food was good. the service was beyond terrible. Seriously this was probably the worst service I've ever gotten in a restaurant.

Le Gamin is a typical restaurant with a hipster waitstaff in Greenpoint with decent food but nothing to rave about. The three of us sat down & were greeted promptly by our server & ordered pretty quickly; however the food was served far from that...it took quite a while and for omelettes of all things. Granted, the omelettes were good but I ordered mine with spinach, caramelized onions, & Ratatouille & the ingredients inside were all lukewarm at best. It's always disappointing to get your food & it's not hot when you waited a significant amount of time for it in the first place. The omelette is served with a small salad tossed in a creamy Dijon vinaigrette & home fries but I opted for a side of fruit instead. As far as being a French restaurant it is hard to actually judge because I had nothing that is "French" but I would consider going back one day to try a buckwheat crepe or escargot.
