Le Garde-Robe - Review - 1st Arr. - Paris - The Infatuation

"If we had to design the perfect Parisian Friday night, it would include a 6pm visit to the Louvre followed by an apéro dînatoire at this neighboring natural wine den. Whether you sit at a high table on the ground floor or in the cozy stone cellar below, you’re likely going to become friends with a fellow wine and cheese lover, since this space is so snug. Roll with any of the funky, unfiltered bottles that line the wall, paired with a generous planche (platter) of six cheeses or charcuteries. You can also order other cheese-driven delicacies like gooey baked Mont d’Or and excellent open-faced croques." - Emily Monaco

Delicious place. Very good food, excellent wines and unbeatable service. We let them know that we would arrive after the kitchen closed and they waited for us. Very nice to go with friends to have a great time.

Great selection of wines, helpful and friendly staff and a warm, cosy atmosphere. We loved this place ❤️

We have had different wine tasting and ‘fromages’ which was delicious. We didn’t made a reservation although we had a good place. The place is typical and cosy. The bathroom is rather small and not the clean. All over a very good place for wine tasting and good meals

Google
My favourite place to drink natural wine or any wine in Paris. A refuge in an otherwise touristy busy area. Very thoughtful and interesting selection of cheese and meats. And pretty much all the wine tastes good. Can't go wrong.

Lovely spot. We had a bottle of wine and charcuterie. Loved that they serve all natural wines and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

Superbe! Un bar à vins nature très très sympa 👏🍷🍾 Wine lovers, Le Garde Robe is a great wine bar discovery right in the centre of Paris! Wonderful selection and of course you can ask for recommendations - Espérance is an excellent red wine, a recent discovery there. To accompany, enjoy some delicious cheeses, the cheese board with 6 different ones is a good sharing option 🧀 the 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁-𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻 is so tasty, similar to Brie but not exactly! Very soft and creamy. Lovely, welcoming and chilled atmosphere and smiley, friendly staff. Merci beaucoup Solenne and team, you are wonderful people! 💖

Little bit small but cozy place with full of natural wines. Friendly staffs. Nice place to enjoy natural wine with small dishes. Making reservations isn’t essential but it’s highly advised.

Google
Wonderful cosy wine bar, great selection of reds with gorgeous labels. We went in the evening where I think menu is more limited but the food was fantastic and paired perfectly with the wine. Highly recommend the Syrah. Service was very good.

Yelp
Although Le Garde Robe could easily be a great "stumble upon," we sought this wine bar out as a pre-dinner destination after visiting the Louvre. Simple charcuterie board and glasses of wine. Simple, classic Parisian ambiance. It didn't try to be more than it was, and it was more than enough. Minimal distractions to enjoy the flavors of the wine and cheese, and to enjoy the company of your love. Thanks again, David Lebovitz!

Yelp
This wine bar was an eye opening experience to my significant other and I. It was a choice that came to us spontaneously. We had walked and roamed the streets of Paris searching for a place that did not seem like a complete tourist trap. And Le Garde Robe was found, hidden in a quaint street, just a couple blocks away from the river. Sat down and Anna greeted us politely. The portions of the Mixed Charcuterie board was deliciously adequate, not to mention the exquisite high quality cheeses that were served to us. The environment of this joint was splendid, it truly seemed authentic and original. The english bleu cheese and the fresh pâté paired decent with our Cote du Rhône wine. I wish they had given us a wine list of their portfolio but there was not one available. The service was sweet and definitely welcoming, we chatted with Anna who was the young lady running the place that evening. Good music too.

Yelp
The place looks different on the outside from when I was there. Much different than what's pictured. We just stopped in here to have a quick glass of wine, so I can't comment about the food. A very cool wine shop and eatery. It has a beautiful wood bar along with a few scattered tables, just a very cool atmosphere. They also focus on organic wines made by independent French producers. In addition to a great wine selection they have lots of no-cook munchies, meats and cheeses, and several other items I couldn't figure out since my French is terrible.

Yelp
Amazing bar. Please help me discover what wine this is! I don't remember the name - it was 7 euros and second on your list on December 2nd. Thank you in advance!

Yelp
If you don't go here, there is no point in being in Paris. If you are strolling by the Louvre, this is a must-visit. We came at opening, at 6:30pm. It is very quaint, personal, and accommodating. The staff really make this a wonderful place to sip some wine and snack with someone you love. We sat down and noticed there were no menus. The waitress came over and asked, "Tell me how you feel and I will whip something up." I responded, "Very happy, loving Paris. Dying for a memorable charcuterie board." She brought over a board with various cheeses and meats. She paired it with a glass of her favorite Beaujolais Villages. Then, I asked for another recommendation-- a white wine that I remember still. I remember us both taking the smallest bites, just to be able to savor it. We barely spoke a word. They have local wines only, and I must say--- every recommendation was a ten. The boyfriend rarely has wine, and basically, we had 2 bottles within an hour LOL. Definitely the perfect way to end our trip to Paris. I don't even regret having to rush to the hotel to pack, in a drunken stupor, and being completely hungover on the flight back. Magnifique!

Yelp
We absolutely loved Le Garde Robe. In search of just a light snack and some wine instead of a heavy dinner, we decided to check this place out. The server was so sweet, very helpful with our broken French & chose a great wine for us to enjoy. The man loves his charcuterie, but I'm more of a veggie person, so we ordered both plates. I'm still not even 100% sure what some of the vegetables I was eating were, but they were amazing. Sprinkled lightly with a rough salt, everything was so delicious. The ambiance was great, very cozy & private, and again, the servers were super nice and helpful, checking on us multiple times. The prices were totally reasonable, as well. I definitely recommend!

Yelp
I visited here with my Parisian friend, and while she handled the wine/cheese ordering (since I don't speak French), everything was delightful. The ambiance was lovely and the wine was amazing.

Yelp
This was a good little wine shop hidden behind a simple shop window. Came in for a glass, and left wishing we'd had time for the food, which looked good! Do be sure you know enough French to read the menu, or bring a translation device. Mind you, our server was most helpful, and found us each something to fit what we sought.

Yelp
My favourite natural wine bar no matter the season. Cosy in the winter and outdoor seating in the summer. Great local spot in a touristy area. Excellent planche with truffle cheese and smoked filet Mignon makes it stand out from the crowd. Friendly, unpretentious wait staff and reasonable prices are what make me return here time after time.

Yelp
One of the best experiences we have had to date Everything about this place was perfect and went perfectly. We had a tough timing finding the place but made sure we got here as they opened up at 6:30PM, to make sure to avoid the crowd. The staff here was amazing, very helpful, gave great recommendations and helped us learn quite a bit. The girl who gave us recommendations spoke perfect English which really helped us here The music playing here was the perfect setting on our vacation, chill tunes like Bob Marley with wine is never a miss. We ordered the meat and cheese board to snack on with our wine. All of the cheese was delicious, great variety and good pairings with the meat. The wine was on point. I really thought my gf and I would come here and have 1 bottle for the two of us, but ended up having such a great time that we had 2 bottles and sampled two glasses of two white wine after (I promise I don't usually drink that much :/) This was our last day in Paris and the perfect way to end our trip, wish I decided to come here n our first day so we could have visited twice.

Yelp
not your average wine bar. i wish we had a place like this in LA. After reading David Lebovitz' blog, I wanted to try their platter of raw veggies with pesto and drizzled with argan oil and fleur de sel. Trying to recreate this relatively simple dish at home is still not the same. That speaks to the quality of the ingredients that they serve. We also got the charcuterie and cheese plate and a bottle of wine. We didn't order real meals here because we had a huge lunch and walking 8 miles in Paris still didn't burn it off.

Yelp
Lovely little wine bar round the corner from my apartment. Perhaps a bit too handy. Staff are really friendly & helpful & will help you find the wine you want. Decide selection available by the glass too. Next time I'll need to try the sharing plates. The looked great but I always seem to pop in here for a drink before going for dinner or a nightcap after dinner before hitting the sack.

Yelp
This place is seriously amazing! This is what a wine bar should be. We were introduced to some amazing wine and had the opportunity to have some amazing food! They have so many options but we choose the meat and cheese plate and it was amazing! Everything is fresh and sliced and made right in front of you. The staff was so kind and made us feel very welcome. It was a very nice change of pace from the touristy areas!

Yelp
When in Paris for a long weekend, I stopped into Le Garde Robe to buy a bottle of wine, not realizing that they also have delicious charcuterie, wines by the glass and other delicious cheese. The clientele is basically all locals, which means you know it's a place to check out. The staff was very friendly and helped us pick both a wine to drink and a wine for take-away. When I'm in Paris next time, I'll go for wine and food.

Yelp
We went to several wine bars while in Paris, but this was certainly our favorite. The space is dark and intimate, the perfect place to enjoy a glass or a bottle or three of wine! They have a great selection of natural wines, and really turned us on to how remarkable that style of winemaking can be. We went twice while we were in Paris and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves both times. Prices are quite reasonable by the glass and the bottle, and the food was good, too (great cheese and charcuterie). Staff was very friendly, and actually worked with us over the phone to ship a lost scarf back to the US. WIll certainly be back next time I'm in Paris, and have recommended it to friends. If you're in to natural wine, or if you want to see what it's all about, check it out!

Yelp
I hate making decisions, so the lack of wine list is perfect for me. Like most people, I like wine but I don't know wine. The server does know wine and brought over a delicious red for me. The server was very sweet and brought me three (!!) bread baskets to have with my cheese plate. We got the mixed cheese and charcuterie plate and it was a nice mix of two soft cheeses, two hard cheeses, three types of sausage, prosciutto, and some veggies. I probably should have eaten less bread because I was too full to finish all the cheese. Regardless, the cheese and wine were both delicious. The space is adorable and cozy - a great place to come with friends or on a date. I can't wait to come back on my next trip to Paris.

Yelp
We had a delicious little meal at Le Garde Robe after spending the morning at the Musee D'Orsay and wandering around the 1st. I read about this place on David Lebovitz's site and it seemed like it might be veg-friendly, which it was. My husband had the "mixte" (charcuterie & fromage plate) and I had a chevre-pesto bruschetta, washed down with Sancerre. Cute place with an unbelievable wine selection.

Yelp
Exactly what we were hoping for on our first night in Paris. The cheeses were all exquisite and each had a twist that we had never experienced. Service was warm and welcoming. We agreed that we had never sampled charcuterie of the caliber served at this cozy neighborhood favorite. Bonus: our server allowed a generous taste if smoked filet mignon at n/c. Interesting and reasonable wines by the glass. Entire tab with 4 glasses of vin: 41 euros.

Yelp
Great, intimate wine bar with excellent charcuterie and decent wine list. Great spot to pop in for a glass and a nibble on some wonderful artisan products - foie gras particularly good.

Yelp
Nice little wine bar. Staff were ok but not immediately welcoming - especially since I had no reservation. I only wanted a wine. Would advise booking in advance otherwise it is standing room only.

Yelp
Really cool natural wine shop/bar. We stopped in right around 3 and they were just about to close, but the main guy behind the bar let us in and have a glass of wine! I can't comment on the food but the menu looked delicious and the wine was tasty! If I'm ever back in Paris, I will definitely return :).

Dan L.

Yelp
Cute place but prepared to be profiled. We tried our best French (disclaimer - not good) and once seated offers "red or white" when they have a chalkboard of 8 wines. Ordered a charcuterie and received a much smaller portion than our French speaking neighbor. Good spot, only if your French is up to par.

Gary S.

Yelp
This is a very disappointing place. The waiters are rude and not polite. We left the place as soon as we could. Drinking wine in Paris is great but not there!
