"Erwan Houssin and his pastry chef wife, Pamela, decided to drop anchor in Leucate, which is hardly a surprise when you see the view that embraces the Sète coastline as far as the Albères mountains. Born in Brittany, Erwan grew up in the Hérault mountains and is perfectly at home with meat and fish from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. He picks the wild fennel, thyme, rosemary and savory himself from the nearby cliffs, creating incredible herbal teas, jus and sauces. Some of his signature dishes include marbled “Fleuron” beef from the Pyrenees, spiced up with a Collioure anchovy sauce or sea urchin served with creamy cauliflower, slow-baked hen’s yolk and a toasted soldier of smoked pike’s eggs." - Michelin Inspector

Very disappointed. This restaurant doesn’t deserve a Michelin star. To start on the positive side, the view is superb, the service dishes are beautiful and the plates are creatively presented. I couldn’t wait to taste my food! Then everything else is beige, the food lacks flavour, or the association of flavours is unbalanced. My fish was totally overpowered by the artichoke purée, although respectively they tasted very good. The desserts are mouth watering but then leave you disappointed. The cherries had no taste, the clafoutis was overcooked and flavourless. A lot of agar agar is used which could be interesting but doesn’t bring much in the end. The service is average, no synchronization of the waiters bringing your plates, therefore the ice cream on one plate starts melting and the desert construction crumbles. The dining room is really nice but the bathrooms are subpar. In a Michelin restaurant, I expect quality soap and cloth towels not paper rolls or a dryer and a public washroom feel. Michelin guide should revisit this restaurant.

Only the view lived up to expectations. I've dined here five times in the past years, but this visit was far below Michelin-star standards. The 'Une Envie de Crustacés' menu was repetitive, with nearly identical lobster and langoustine dishes. Service was inattentive: sometimes no explanation of the dishes, no greeting, and poor accessibility for wheelchair users - the lift was full of storage and the bell was broken. We were addressedd as 'Monsieur, Madame' despite clearly being two women, which felt careless. Some guests were barefoot, and when presenting the coffee sweets, there was only one piece left of a certain biscuit in the cart, quite inconsiderate for a table of two. We spent 387 euro for two people- absolutely not worth it this time

Amazing and beautifully presented food at New Years’s eve (in particular the ginger crème brûlée, the baby pigeon and chocolate truffles with real truffle). The interior and atmosphere were a little “clinical”, maybe due to dark and misty conditions. Perhaps next time when we get to see the Chef and the panorama we move it to 5 stars…

A culinary experience worthy of the 1 star Michelin! The chefs manages to delight and surprise with every meal. Too few waiters made the wait between the meals a bit long at time, but they tried to accommodate as well as possible.

Excellent, a unique experience. A taste of creative cuisine, with local products, in a really nice environment overviewing the sea. On top of that, you don't get that sensation from other Michelin-starred restaurants where you end up hungry after a supposed meal. You eat very well, you get a creative cuisine, and you are treated like a person. In one word, excellent.

Excellent! We tried the degustation menu and it was so good! So tasty and so well presented. The chef was very nice to changed the menu for us as we came here few weeks ago and also had the degustation menu. The view is so nice as well! A whole experience We will come back!!

Yelp
We went to Le Grand Cap to celebrate my mother's 50th birthday. The restaurant is on top of a cliff, but easy to find and has a great view of the sea. The room is quite small and not cramped nor noisy. The decoration is modern and soothing, with beautiful sea themed plates and tableware. The service was very friendly and efficient if a little bit slow. The waiters explained quickly each dish and gave more ample informations if prompted. The wine recommandations were very good as well. It was very pleasant to be able to pick whatever we wanted from the carte to be included in the menus we chose, rather than being only really interested in half of the dishes we were about to have. The amuse bouches that came first were nice and a good surprise with unexpected tastes. The second one was very refreshing. We all selected the foie gras as a starter and we all loved it. The cooking was perfect and the duck paired unexpectedly well with the sweet dragée crust. The serving size was also very generous. The mains were the pigeonneau and a fish, the chef clearly intended to carry strong flavours and he succeeded in doing so but both dishes were a bit undercooked for some at the table, who did not enjoy the gamy taste. The others enjoyed it though so it is really a just a question of taste. There again the portions were generous. The pre dessert was very refreshing again and a good interlude before the selected sweets. We sampled all of the desserts offered and they were all really amazing. The chocolate was probably the best, the pistachio and strawberry ones were great and zesty too. The only (slight) let down was the apricot one because the apricot part was very bland, so it was more of a dulcey chocolate and nut dessert and although the ice cream was perfect there wasn't enough of it to counterbalance the heaviness of the dessert without the freshness of the apricot. Last came some chocolates, nuts, nougats and caramel (the truffle was amazing) followed by an artful cart of small sweets to choose from. We sampled a few of the offered jellies, marshmallows, macaroons, push-ups and other delicacies and they were all quite tasty. The chef came out to greet everyone at the end of the meal, he does the savory part and his wife crafts the desserts. He recently left a starred establishment in Avignon and is aiming to be awarded one here again. We have no doubt his wish will come true very soon and we can only hope this place will remain affordable, as we intend to come back again soon.
