The 16 Best Restaurants On Capri - Capri - The Infatuation

"Olive trees and a pergola? Beautiful, but child’s play compared to the views of Arco Natural you’ll get at Le Grottelle. This spot is about 20 minutes from Capri’s Piazzetta—just look out for the painted tiles under the arch and start walking. Plan to linger on the terrace over plates of marinated anchovies and perfectly prepared grilled seafood. If you see scarole on the menu, order it as a side—it’s escarole stewed with olives, capers, raisins, and anchovies. Note that they’re closed on Tuesdays and only take reservations by phone, and you may want to bring a flashlight if you’re making moves after dusk." - gillian mcguire

Hidden gem of Capri!! The restaurant felt really local, the staff is super nice and friendly with great food recommendations. The venue itself is breathtaking! You need to walk to get there but it is a nice walk and definitely worth it. Will come back again for sure!

Google
Very nice location - splendid viewing over a cliff - a bit of a walk but less people around. Paolo was hosting us and for sure can be trusted with any kind of recommendation (wine and food) - the stuffed pepperoni and the pasta with rabbit were excellent. And the lemon tarte. For sure one of the best places on Capri - if you can reserve a table. Gracie !

A must if you're in the area. A bit of a hike but SO worth it. Friendly service, incredible food and the most beautiful view.

Google
Without a doubt the best dining experience we have had. If you have the opportunity to dine here, make sure you do it. Absolutely phenomenal! Our waiter Paulo, was wonderful and made our experience at La Grottelle exceptional.

Perched on a cliff overlooking a breathtaking bay, this restaurant offers an unparalleled panorama. The iconic Arco Naturale and the stunning Sorrento coast unfold before you, creating a postcard-perfect setting. Ideal for sunny lunches, summer dinners, or simply a coffee or beer on a warm afternoon, it's a haven for soaking up the view. The service is warm and welcoming, and the menu features traditional dishes, with an emphasis on fresh seafood. While the location and view are priceless, the pricing is on the higher side.

Discovered this gem in 2011 and returned in 2025! Worth the walk…the best food, wine and view in Capri!

Yelp
Absolutely lovely in every way. Our waiter was so hospitable, friendly, and funny. He really made us feel at home. The ambiance is perfect, over looking the water. Great for lunch or dinner. The food was sooo yummy. The snapper was delicious as was the pasta, eggplant, and everything else. Water service was on point. We will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
Lovely view near the Natural Arch in Capri. After a long day of climbing, we stopped in here to relax and enjoy the beautiful views. We did not eat, but enjoyed friendly service, a shot of homemade Limoncello and lemon sorbet. Really nice place to sit and relax. I could see spending more time here if we hadn't needed to ferry back to our home base. Recommend.

Yelp
It is just a magnificent restaurant! The view, the food, the service and the dinning experience. Make sure you visit mama Rosa in the kitchen...

Yelp
Maybe my favorite Italian restaurant in the world. The walk from town is about 30 minutes. Bring a flashlight as to not step in dog droppings. The main kitchen is in a renovated portion of a cave, for all you spelunkers out there. Nice outdoor seating, fantastic view (although I usually go at night and therefore can't see anything but black). But super late lunch is fun as you can occasionally spot some bats coming out of the Arco Naturale below. Great memories come from this place. In the 90's Rafael the pizza chef taught me how to make pizza in his little cave oven up the steps, and allowed me to assist him on mine every visit. Besides the now closed Savardina with crazy Eduardo slaughtering your chicken lunch and playing the violin, this is the spot for me. Pizza is a must (my favorite on the island... much prefer it to Da Gemma or Aurora). Pollo al Mattone is great. Can't really go wrong with the food here. Surprised to see any complaints... particularly over price.... I'm not gonna go there, but really? All in all... this would be my last meal if forced to choose.

Yelp
Read multiple reviews at other sources and agree they have great service & food. Get the homemade pastas and 1/2 pollo (chicken) - crispy skin, both the thigh/leg and breast was cooked to perfection! Didn't get a chance to snap a pic, I devoured it before I remembered.

Yelp
This has been by far, the best meal I've eaten in Capri. After being here for five days, I found myself tired of small portion, being taken advantage of, and worst of all, very mediocre food. Then I found Le Grottelle. First off, make a reservation. This place fills up and you'll want to secure a table. My wife and I were met with great service to begin with--something I haven't enjoyed much of in Capri. We order a Zucchini and Mint appetizer and the Marinated Anchovies. Both were so delicious. The sardines are a must, and already, we were quite satisfied with the portion size. So the main course we order Rabbit Cacciatore and the wife his Spaghetti with Squid. She was cautious of ordering squid because she's only received lackluster squid dishes at other places. It certainly wasn't the case here! The squid was delicious, and had so much flavor. The rabbit was also delectable. We were happy to make our last meal in Capri a memorable one! Would 100% come back. This is what I expected from Italian food!

Yelp
Great amazing view and that's the highlight of this establishment ! If you don't like dining with flies everywhere - keep walking. Portions very small - see my pictures and prices high for what you receive. One medium sized stuffed pepper $16euro and I'm covered in flies(infestation) as I'm typing - invest in fans or something establishment! Service was mixed - I noted one table with a cheerful server and ours was curt/ non- existent. Credit card machine down -some people not happy, but miraculously it started working again. We ordered tap water and our server seemed put out. Our table orderd the stuffed pepper dinner - great flavor /the size of an appetizer. Ravioli with cheese a better portion , also $15euro. The eggplant parmigiana, very good if you're looking for a vegetarian dish ,but once again small portion for $15euro. I'd recommend this place for an apertif or glass of wine . Ok- it took forever to get our check , even after I requested . Just got bill and the charged $ 10.50euro for 3 small communion sized pieces of hard bread. That's ~$ 12.50 !! WALK AWAY - tourist trap!!!

Yelp
Great food. All seafood item were brilliantly made. We ordered steal pasta fish - all well made - freshly prepared. The view was unbelievable. Make sure to walk to grotto after your done. Keep in mind this restaurant is a fair distance walk from the square (15 min or so)

Yelp
Horrible service. I walked to the top of Capri for an hour from the port to go here. Sat down and was asked if I wanted drinks or food and I said both. Ordered a water, she asked if I wanted large and I said yes. Five minutes pass while she served others, people next to me got food. Never got a water. A man comes over and tells me I can't get food because they're closed & was incredibly unfriendly. Told him I walked an hour to get there, the people beside me just got food, she said I could order food... and nothing but taking my menu away. There is nothing online that says they stop serving food at any point.

Yelp
Years ago we stumbled on this restaurant while hiking the Capri shoreline. It was a pleasant surprise to come out at the Grotto restaurant. What a gem ! We had some wine and appetizers and conversed with the family. They took us in like long lost relatives and we enjoyed three other visits to enjoy food that was not on the "menu". Don't miss this wonderful restaurant it is a true Italian family restaurant. When we were there we took a photo of papa making pizzas in the outdoor wood fire oven. We are going back this April 2016 to present the family with the picture of the patriarch.

Yelp
You have to taste it to believe it. This place offers not only a wonderful meal, but an awesome experience on a farm overlooking Sorrento bay. A new calf was born this morning. The cat licked whipped cream from my finger. The host served house made wine to our party. We took a walk on the farm while waiting for the food, visiting olive grove, cherry trees, peaches, cattle, wine barrels and chicken coups. The chef prepared a lovely antipasti of yellow and red peppers with capers, cheese, olives; cabbage rolled with spec, prosciutto, smoked cheese, parmesan; a plat of three regional cheeses monk's cheese, caciotina, mozzarala, aged goat cheese; also, zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese and fried; piselle; germ of fava bean sauteed in olive oil. Bruschetta of home made bread, EVO, and cherry tomatos. We brought them a blue lobster and a red snapper from the fish market. They made a risotto dish and a pasta dish with the lobster using the roe and the liquid from the lobster to cook the pasta. The red snapper was prepared packed in salt and baked. AMAZING! Perfect! A fruit course was served and then the dessert: Torta della nona, Tiramassu foilatella Santa Rosa (shell) with pastry creme followed by house made blackberry liquour and coffee. So much food, but our group could not stop eating. Last night we ate at Michelin two starTorre del saracino. This is a different genre of cooking, but the food was equal in execution and lovliness. I loved the country charm and the friendliness of every staff member.

Yelp
Amazing view, wonderful people and delicious food. We found this restaurant recommendation in a bridal magazine and we're so happy we went there! It's a little walk but well worth it. It was so nice getting away from the crowd and enjoying authentic Italian cuisine in a natural setting.

Yelp
Life stands still for a moment when a crimson moon first appears on the horizon while sipping a glass of prosecco on Le Grotelle's cliffside terrace. We watched with wonder and awe as the full moon rose changing colors gradually from crimson to orange to yellow. Life doesn't get any better than this, and Le Grotelle is the perfect place to enjoy the magic of a full moon. Our waiter, Giovanni, was hands down the best waiter we had on our two week Italian adventure. The food and wine was very good, though rather pricey (75 Euros for one whole fish for two people, not including anything else). It's a 30+ minute uphill hike from the center of town, and taxi service is not available due to the narrow path. If you are fit enough to make the trek, you will not be disappointed. Make a reservation well in advance to reserve a table right at the cliff's edge.

Yelp
We were walking to the Natural Arch on Capri and stumbled on this beautiful restaurant. What a find! We had the daily special of spaghetti with fresh rock fish and it was fantastic. We asked for wine by the glass and were given a perfect white (probably a Pinot Grigio or Pinot Bianco) that was delicious. We treated ourselves to a gelato covered with nougat that was fantastic. If you find yourself in Capri, this restaurant is about a 30 minute walk from Capri Centro, but absolutely worth the effort. We loved it!

Yelp
A hidden treasure. A beautiful restaurant built right into the mountain with spectacular views of the sea. A superb chef. The owner and staff were so warm and welcoming. To top it off, we had "The Best" waiter we have had on our entire European trip. We went to Milan, Lake Como, Venice, Florence, Tuscanny, Rome and here in Capri we meet Giovanni. He treated us like we were old friends. Giovanni suggested wonderful additions to our meal which made it the best we have had. He brought us right up to the kitchen to meet the chef, whom he regarded as "Momma" and her daughter whom worked along side of her. Giovanni gave us ideas of places to go while we were here in Capri and Anacapri. He even shared a little about himself which was an added special touch for us. You must go to "Le Grottelle" Ristorante tipico for the best food and best service. Ask for Giovanni!
