"There aren’t many places to eat in tiny Giverny itself, so reservations are essential at Le Jardin des Plumes, which is where you’ll want to be after wandering through Monet's house and studio. You’ll find it inside a 1913 house-turned-boutique hotel, with a couple of bright, inviting dining areas that overlook a big, lush garden that’s almost as beautiful as Monet’s. The food here is French, but not French-French—lobster is cooked with yuzu, fish with almond milk, and beef with eel. Expect to spend €95 on the three-course lunch menu, €145 on five courses, or €175 on seven. " - sophie friedman

"A short walk from Claude Monet’s house, this half-timbered Anglo-Norman 1912 edifice extends an invitation to relax and enjoy the good things of life. The tasteful interior mixes Art deco features (worn blue and white floor tiles, peacock blue walls) with 1960’s white leather armchairs and glass and rosewood tables, while the lovely patio is flanked by a delightful, wooded garden. Normandy born chef, David Gallienne, who trained at the Manoir du Lys, continues to work with some of his former suppliers from Orne and Dieppe fishermen, whilst sourcing new ones. His inventive recipes feature unorthodox flavours and textures. The chef has opened a nearby guesthouse for overnight stays and a delicatessen in Vernon." - Michelin Inspector

The restaurant is excellent with original & creative dishes. Go for the 7course menu for the best experience (portions are adapted); the service is nice & friendly; the wine list offers a wide range of french wine at reasonable prices; the dining room is not large (+/-30 seats), with 4 window tables. It’s not possible to dine outside; overall we had a great time & look forward to try it at another season

For my birthday celebration, my husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Le Jardin des Plumes in picturesque Giverny. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were enveloped in an ambiance that blended elegance with a touch of rustic charm. The tasteful decor, and attentive staff set the stage for what would be an unforgettable culinary journey. The dishes presented to us were nothing short of a symphony for the senses. Each plate was a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with an artistic flair that showcased the chef’s passion and expertise. The ingredients were fresh, locally sourced, and thoughtfully combined. We savored every bite, marveling at the harmonious balance of flavors. every element had a purpose - a story to tell on our palates. In summary, Le Jardin des Plumes is a gem nestled in the heart of Giverny. If you seek an extraordinary dining experience - one that transcends mere sustenance - look no further. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and without a doubt, I will return to savor its culinary artistry once more!

Well what can I say. We booked this back in January as we had Olympic tickets. The cost was €610 per night. We were expecting luxury but found a B&B with sitting a bedroom, room and very budget furniture. There was a smell of damp in the room. Very uncomfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast at a bench was very poor. We queried the price as the display in the room showed a max price of €300-360. We had to ‘discuss’ vociferously for a discount. At least Alx was willing to help us, thank you. We left a day early so we could get home and have a good nights sleep. Our trip to the Olympics, Versailles and Monets gardens were fantastic but the hotel…a rip off even at €300 a night.

This is a review for the restaurant experienced months ago but I think it should be known: I was traveling with my partner and his family who although 2nd generation American, have deep roots in France. In fact we were traveling with a distant cousin who still lives in Paris. The food and whole dinner was lovely. Some truly inventive dishes were served and overall it was great. Because we were a large party we were seated in the separate private room. At the end of the dinner, I saw chef Gallienne making his way around from table to table chatting with the patrons at each table for a brief moment. Finally he enters our room, smiles, looks around and said something like "hello, do you speak French?" in French Our party was a mix of varying skill levels. Obviously the Parisian was a native French speaker and the older generation in the family retained some basic French but the younger generation either didn't know it or only had high school level knowledge. This caused us to pause instead of answering him immediately (even our Parisian cousin didn't immediately answer) because... how to explain this complex history of 3 generations, some speak French and others didn't? Well no need to, because without even waiting for an answer, at the first sign of our silence, chef bowed and backed out and just left! No exaggeration - it was as if he just found out we had some airborne disease and ran out of there. Now I understand the whole thing about the French expecting its visitors to try to speak French etc but the outrageous thing was we had a native speaker and a couple of French speaking descendents! The silence was just a pause for us to gather the complicated explanation of who spoke and who didn't but the chef obviously didn't even want to entertain even a nanosecond of that. I can understand the "you must speak French in France" thing if it applied to some neighborhood shop or some small town but this is a one-star Michelin restaurant that presumably welcomes the precisely INTERNATIONAL distinction and presumably its INTERNATIONAL clientele that comes with that prestigious award. If Chef Gallienne wants his restaurant to compete globally and to continue enjoying the accolades of an international award that is meant to attract people of ALL races and languages, he needs to change his rotten xenophobic attitude. Also we had the private room so in terms of basic customer satisfacation, the fact that he didn't even have any respect for such a large party booking a private room also shows poor customer relation skills in addtion to his xenophobia.

What an amazing gem! The service was superb, what I found extremely cute is young boys trained as sommelier and learning how to serve guests. We picked chef’s table - though we were surprised we had the same courses as others but it was still a very pleasurable experience. Wine pairing was amazing, so our special evening was a true success. Thank you for making it so wonderful!

With over 300 reviews this is my first “terrible” rating. My hotel and restaurant reservations made five months in advance were unceremoniously cancelled 48 hours before arrival. Not by a phone call but a note through Booking. How many others were also affected? ||The excuse was that “an international delegation has requisitioned our entire establishment to promote the region.” Maybe it was lost in translation but “requisitioned” sounds like the owners had no control. And like blaming another client. What meeting planner waits to the last minute to requisition a hotel? And how do you “promote the region” by stiffing guests visiting that region as your first move? ||They did suggest I postpone the visit for eight weeks. But until I asked, they offered no alternative immediate plan. Moreover, management delegated communication to a receptionist, who in fact did a good job with a bad assignment. But I have yet to hear any word of regret or apology from the owners directly. Totally unprofessional. ||Usually I write off a bad experience as a one-off or a negative review as from a disappointed crank. But in this case, the hotel needs to be called out for appearing to place profit over good will. Seems like it is a great place. But for damage control, they get a “terrible.” I guess getting so many five-star ratings means you never have to say you’re sorry.

My partner's 70th birthday celebration last month and our dinner was supposed to be the capstone to our wonderful week in France. Our reservation was canceled just two weeks before our big night--unconscionable and unfair.

Lovely accommodation in this B&B house (Ô PLUM'ART) which is situated near the entrance of the village, on 12 Rue Claude Monet in Giverny, and 1km from their other site ‘Jardin des Plumes’ restaurant and accommodation. We had the room called Sumatra, upstairs on the first floor. |Staff at this B&B are on-site for check-in from 4pm for a few hours and then they come back again for Breakfast and check-out the following morning. Check-out is 11am. The house is around a 20 minute walk to Monet’s house and Gardens. Very nice décor, clean, peaceful, comfortable, and quiet. Wonderful to open the bedroom window to listen to such a busy dawn chorus from the birds… Brilliant! |Free parking on the side of the road just outside the property. |Nice size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. Having a door to the bathroom is great, as there is an extractor fan in the bathroom to keep damp at bay. This sound is not a problem as it's a fairly quiet extractor and once you shut the bathroom door when going to bed you don't notice the sound. |Continental breakfast was very simple but nice; Croissant, bread, jam, yogurt, cheese, fresh orange juice. The coffee was made using a coffee pod/capsule machine, not my favourite type of coffee but it was fine. They have a coffee machine in the bedroom too, and one small vessel with drinking water. They will fill another drinking vessel for you to take to your room, if needed. I would ask for one shortly after check-in and before the staff leave, as once they leave there are no staff members around until the following day. |We would definitely stay here again as it was very relaxing, especially once the day-trippers have left the village. A mid-May stay on a Friday evening.

Yelp
Been before and had an excellent experience 3 years ago. Went recently and it was a bus plunge of a meal. All beautifully served, plated and properly prepared, but disappointing beyond belief! From the 7 course menu only a few dishes were even enjoyable enough to be good. Most were sub par and a few were inedible, dessert being the biggest disappointment of all. I have no idea why the night we were there was such a train wreck, but be warned; there is something up at Le Jardin.

Yelp
This is a 1 Michelin star rated restaurant in the beautiful town of Giverny. It's a must try if you're in the area, we arrived for lunch for their first seating (12:30pm) and reservations are highly recommended (through their website). We arrived a little early so the staff welcomed us to sit inside their cute parlor, where we were served 3 amuse bouche dishes, a mango drink, and water while waiting for our table in the dining room. The snacks were delicious and was a great start to our meal. Shortly after we were taken to our table, where the server brought more amuse bouche for us as well as homemade bread and butter. Wished the bread was warmed and the butter wasn't creamy (a bit bland and hard to spread). We ordered some white wine by the glass and the sommelier picked a delicious one for us, one of the best white wines i've had! For appetizer I had the langoustines (5/5), my main course was the sea bream (5/5), and dessert was the almond panna cotta (5/5). Everything was delicious and well made, not too heavy considering it is classic French food! My hubby had the cod (4/5) which was good but a bit on the bland side, it wasn't as tasty as the sea bream. All of the ingredients are locally sourced from Giverny and on site (herbs, veggies). We really loved the meal and the service! Highly recommended - the prices are amazing compared to US for a Michelin star meal! And they gave us so many complimentary amuse bouche, during our main and after dessert!

Yelp
Bar none the best meal during our trip to France! The service was phenomenal and the food was exquisite, not to mention a fabulous recommendation for wine. We started out with some French Scotch, a couple of entrees, then proceeded to the main courses - wild boar and turbot. We ended the evening with a phenomenal chocolate dessert, baba au rhum, as well as beautiful cheese plate. Throughout the evening we were treated very well and never felt rushed. Every bite was savored, and we left in a happy "food coma", the kind that only comes with a world class meal. As a side note, the prices were so much better in Giverny as compared to an equivalent Michelin star restaurant in Paris. Our compliments to the chef and his wonderful staff. Next time we are in the area we will definitely not only be dining there but also staying at the hotel!
