I was absolutely blown away by this place. A somewhat hidden bar inside of The Wolves bar, I did not know much about this place before we visited, apart from the fact that they have no cocktail menu and serve you based on a conversation with their staff about what flavors you like. But that doesn’t begin to cover it. This bar makes their own Amaros, Fernets and Vermouths, and they make them using a multitude of locally grown fruits and herbs. We came in a little earlier than they typically have capacity for, but they were gracious enough to let us sit down anyway after telling us service might be a little slower than expected, but they were actually amazing. We started with an introductory taste of one of their vermouths, followed by a “surprise” drink tailored to our flavor profiles. Everything was spectacular! I so wish I had known about all of this beforehand, because I’d have opted to make a reservation and do the full tasting/pairing experience. Instead, we only had time for one drink and had to move on to our next stop. I will have to absolutely come back to this place! The staff was amazing, making time to sit down with us and tell us about their process and their products, clearly showing a lot of passion for what they do.

Yelp
This is without a doubt a bucket-list experience. We visited The Wolves the Monday before the LA wildfires began, and it was unforgettable. From the moment you step inside, the historic decor transports you to another realm. True to their motto, their cocktails are inventive and full of surprises--challenging your expectations in the best way possible. The Agua Buena was a standout: refreshing with just the right amount of kick. The subtle hint of shrimp showcased their mastery of mixology. As for the food, the black mussels were great--bursting with flavor from fresh herbs and perfectly cooked mussels. This spot is a must-visit, and we're already looking forward to going back! Next time, we're eager to try the tiger's milk and their much-raved-about bread pudding.

Yelp
Cocktails with a bit of history mixed in? I'm sold! Located in Downtown LA's historic (and possibly haunted) Alexandria Hotel's building, The Wolves is a unique establishment that features authentic period pieces from the early 20th century, lending itself to an intriguing yet approachable ambiance that you'll truly be impressed by. The cocktail menu is thoughtfully presented and put together, gathering inspiration from culinary dishes and unexpected flavor combinations. While I may not be as bold enough to order their Agua Buena cocktail, which features shrimp, cucumber and garlic, I was more than happy with the sweet and fruity Harbinger of Fun and Mary Pickford cocktails instead. Our server was friendly and attentive and came to our table to check on us multiple times. We came a bit earlier than the busy nighttime rush so we were seated right away but I can see how his place can fill up on busy weekend evenings.

Yelp
After waiting so long to get to this place, everything about it--besides the beautiful interior--was such a disappointment. The main server when my friend and I got there, Ashley, was incredibly rude. We sat down at one of the tables and she came within 3 minutes to tell us to move because the table was "typically reserved". Ooookay....didn't see a plaque or anything, but we did move for her. Now that we were at another table, my friend was able to order a drink and I got some bread and water. It took a good 15 minutes for both to arrive, and by the time that it did I tried ordering a drink myself. It seemed like our waitress was more interested in collecting the menu than in getting my order, because I had to stop her from leaving in order to finish. It took another 15 to get my drink at this point and we still hadn't received the water I had previously ordered. Again, it seemed Ashley was avoiding us--my friend was watching as she attended all the other tables but deliberately avoided us. At one point, she was standing at the podium in the back and staring out into the main hall and my friend and her were literally making eye contact, but she didn't move. We finally got our water when another server came to ask us, for the first time mind you, if everything was going well. My friend and I were so frustrated at this point that once we'd finished our $18 cocktails, we asked for the bill. We were so disappointed and agreed that had our server been even a little bit more agreeable, we wouldn't have rushed out, but as it was we didn't feel comfortable spending any more time or money there.

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, this bar feels like stepping through a time machine into the roaring 1920s. The dark, stained wood interiors exude a rich warmth that instantly transports you to a bygone era, where craftsmanship and attention to detail reigned supreme. Ornate wood moldings line the walls and ceilings, showcasing a timeless artistry that feels authentically vintage. The curved stained glass ceiling windows are nothing short of stunning, casting a soft, colorful glow across the room as the evening light fades. The ambiance is intimate and moody, the kind of place where secrets feel safe and every drink tastes like it's been poured with purpose. Whether you're a fan of history, craftsmanship, or just a good old-fashioned drink, this spot is a hidden gem that truly captures the spirit of an old-school New York speakeasy but in DTLA. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the modern hustle and indulge in a moment of timeless charm

Yelp
A review mentioned that this was a hidden gem so we were super excited to try. Gem? Yes! Hidden? Definitely not. The interior outside looks very regular, but the interior is stunning. I was getting mad because the pictures I took of the ceiling could not capture how cool it looked in person! They also have an upstairs balcony-type thing for reserved parties which is nice. You kinda have to wait around until a table opens up, and this place was so packed that it did take a while. We still waited a bit after being seated at the bar. Bartenders had a lot on their plate, but were working quickly to get through them! The bartender that helped us (didn't get his name, but he had long grey hair) was amazing!! We asked if he could do custom drinks and he was very happy to accommodate. Here's what we got/what we thought: My cocktail (pink) (5/5): Pictured on the right, my cocktail consisted of pomegranate juice, pineapple juice, and other things that I don't really remember. The drink was SO refreshing, and having a bit of that basil just took it over the top. Cucumber lime "East Side" (5/5!): This was my boyfriend's, and it was also incredible! The bartender was even kind enough to grab a fresh cucumber for us. I never like drinks with cucumber and lime, but I kept asking if I could have sips of this one. Overall, such a great experience! My boyfriend and I both agreed that this was the highlight of our trip. If you don't mind the prices and wait time, I'm sure the service and drinks will make your night.

Yelp
A cute small bar in DTLA. Came here on a Saturday night ~9pm and it was very busy. The sitting is first-come first-served. We tried several drinks and got a poutine to share and everything was pretty good. The server was very nice and was very pleased with his service! :)

Mel D.

Yelp
What a gem of a place this is! The interior is soooo beautiful and elegant. I highly suggest stopping in for a drink - it's definitely nice enough for a date. There's a smokey cocktail that has an impressive presentation which was delicious. I don't think you can go wrong here, they have a legit cocktail menu and the food looked delicious but I wasn't hungry. The bartender was sweet and gave some good recommendations. I walked by this place so many times and never really noticed it. If it wasn't for my friend taking me there, I would have never known such a cute place existed.

Isabel Y.

Yelp
This rating is specifically for the cocktails as I didn't order any food on this visit. The interior was absolutely stunning with stained glass windows and low light that accentuated the gold ceiling panels. It had a sophisticated speakasy feel to it. However I wasn't a huge fan of how insanely alcoholic they tasted. I ordered the Amsterdam and felt like I got punched in the face with every sip. It was very busy and took a while to get our drinks. The curved staircase to get upstairs was aesthetically pleasing, but difficult to navigate with a drink in your hand. The balcony was noisy as it faces a busy street.

Catherine M.

Yelp
This was a very cool vibe for a bar. We came in a Friday night and we were seated right away. Service wasn't the friendliest but food and drinks came out fast. The poutine was good but not the best I've ever had. My friends really enjoyed the burger.

Miriam Y.

Yelp
This place is such a gem! Came here on a late Sunday night after picking up a friend that was in town and we loved everything about this place. The staff and bartenders were very friendly! The architecture of the building was unique and beautiful! Prices of the drinks and food notes were affordable and good. I'd definitely come back again! Of course it's downtown so parking can be hit or miss especially if there are events near by but we got lucky that it was a quiet Sunday evening and found street parking easily!

Paul A.

Yelp
Wow! Great bar tender who makes quality cocktails! Great private event space, classy old architecture and a cool crowd. Upstairs seating a street view outdoor balcony.

Antonius B.

Yelp
Stopped in for a couple of cocktails after dinner in the area, so I'm only rating the cocktails. We ordered a 'Charleston Brew', which was a bourbon based cocktail with coffee liqueur and espresso and a brandy based drink called 'Let Them Talk'. Both cocktails were expertly crafted, extremely balanced and tasted extremely fresh. The ingredients in the menu can come off as odd, but they all worked together extremely well. Ambient noise was average and the lights are extremely dim. Service was quick for a Friday night, despite a good number of people present. Definitely recommend as a destination for a great cocktail, I would like to return someday to try the food.

Jane D.

Yelp
Stopped in for some pre-dinner drinks. While it was a quick visit, it was quite the sight! The ceiling is beautiful and the drinks were spectacular. My grandpa's only complaint was- "it's too dark" We will be back again for more

belinda n.

Yelp
This place is the Bomb-bay! My favorite part is the outdoor seating that's literally on the sidewalk and you can people watch forever! Needless to say it's best to go when it's not busy. there is a doorman (who's hella cool) so you need to show your ID fo sho. the drinks take forever and ever to make because they are handcrafted and artisanal so get over it! this is not a cheap place so yes you will be paying more than usual. There are lots of seats at the bar and lots of tables. The ambience is dark, but inviting.. the bathroom is clean and private. It is a walk though.. the drinks are just completely delicious and unique and so special! the food menu also looked superb. We only had french fries though. definitely will return and recommend!

Steph R.

Yelp
Such an elegant and spooky vibe. Staff were polite. Their upstairs and balcony was really nice. The whole place is a whole experience. Originally came cause I heard about its paranormal experiences and needed to come check it out. We loved it!

Nicole V.

Yelp
This is a very cool bar in DTLA. It's a blink and you'll miss it if you are walking by. However the interior is very cool. My boyfriend and I did a cool walk through when we first walked in because the architecture and design are very intriguing. My friends have been here before and told me that they decorate a lot for Halloween, so I think i'll have to come back and see it. Their happy hour menu is pretty good and also has a lot of house drinks. They have some good appetizers to share. We got the flatbread and the fries and were pleasantly surprised. The drinks were also really good! it's a great bar to come in and pre-game and probably even better at night! The bartender was friendly, patient and helpful when deciding what to order. The bouncer was also friendly, especially as my boyfriend and I were one of the first patrons of the day that came here as a pregame to an escape room that we were doing nearby!

Rusty H.

Yelp
Stepping through the door I felt the coolest, most sophisticated version of myself showed up. The staff all look like the most popular kids in school, while treating me like their long time friend. We had two signature drinks that were tasty, and the atmosphere resembles a cool movie. Everyone was having a great time. Maybe they were pumping happy gas into the air. (They were not) I don't have a long history with bars, so when I commented on how cool the ice cubes looked, the bartender took the time to explain to me the subtle differences in high quality ice, and cheaper fast ice. I feel my ice questions were maybe eye-roll inducing and cringe worthy, but again, he treated me like a friend. There's lots of seating and an upstairs balcony area, and outdoor patio. Definitely adding to my "cool places in L.A." list.

Elsa P.

Yelp
A friend of mine recommended this bar for its drinks and we were not disappointed! I was a little skeptical after reading the ingredients but they were delicious. I had the "Let them talk" which is brandy based with ingredients like mushroom and celery and it was blended to perfection. Another great part is the ambiance itself. The old classic decor makes you feel very relaxed and care free. There was 90's music playing loud enough to hear it but not too loud where you can't carry a conversation. Our server was also great about explaining the drinks and food. Over all a great experience!

Edward L.

Yelp
Feels like a time machine took you back to 1920s or something it's got a lot of interesting cocktails and ambience is amazing. Great staff and whole experience of being inside is very intimate. Definitely a nice place to grab a drink.

Prawphar N.

Yelp
We went there and literally love it! The decoration is giving and the cocktails are on point! Service was nice definitely be back!!

Alexander R.

Yelp
Amazing place! Came here with a friend and we're seated immediately ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. The drinks were fairly priced we had the 1920s bourbon as well as the mango mezcal highball. The 1920 was pretty strong but tasted amazing still it had notes of orange and the bourbon was very prominent throughout! the highball was well balanced and tasty. The ambiance was a bit loud but definitely worth the try if your in downtown on a late night out. Yvette made sure we were having a great experience and even walked us through a little of the history behind the place! We're definitely going to be back again!

Laura D.

Yelp
This place is gorgeous. The architecture is just something else. Service is pretty good. It's the best on Sundays. Drinks are good and food is on point especially for hanging with friends for a quick drink and small bites. Been here a couple times and haven't been disappointed (I've posted the full experience to my instagram as @battygonebatty (which I have been documenting since 2022) )

Emily P.

Yelp
Came here before a show in DTLA and was not disappointed. It's a wonderful 1900's style bar and it is lovely, but a little small. We got there at 5:20 and by the time we left it was almost full. They have a $2 off cocktail hour on their starred menu items so definitely take advantage of that! Now, to the food! It was incredible!!! The croque was a rich delectable treat, described as an "adult grilled cheese sandwich". It did not disappoint. I would come back just for that! Ask for all of the toppings on the pomme frites instead of choosing just one! They were great and they gave you a solid portion! The eggs were our least favorite but were still very good. More herby and less yolk flavored I would say. Can't wait to recommend and to come back!

Sabrina M.

Yelp
I have visited The Wolves several times now and they never disappoint. The establishment itself is gorgeous - very dark and sexy vibe - I'm obsessed. Icing on the cake is their level of service - best service I have received at a bar EVER. We were a group of nearly 20 people (if not more) on a Friday night and team at The Wolves were literally so amazing. They treated us so well and really catered to us - Caleb is the ABSOLUTE BEST who helped us with seating **and** with managing our tab. I can't thank the team enough (kudos to Kevin(?) and the team behind the bar as well) but I will try - Thank you all for making our evening the best one in DTLA ever and for helping us treat my brother to a special evening for his birthday :)

Gladys F.

Yelp
I came in for the first time with very little expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Firstly, I'm glad we came in at 7:30 on a Friday because we arrived with 1 group already there and finished with a full house. When you first enter, it's like being transported to Paris in the early 1900's: rich wood tones, dim lighting, and intricate patterns/architecture. The cocktails and food were excellent and generous. For 3 people, we ordered 4 dishes and it was too way too much. You can easily fill up on 2 items for a group of 3. The warm olives, escargot, and black mussels are highly recommended. Can't wait to return.

Gordon D.

Yelp
The food was good, probably the best crispy cheese I've had on a French ham sandwich in a while. The service was mediocre to me, mainly because you have to keep an eye on the food being made. Once you head on upstairs, you might forget about the food and as a result of food is cold. You can't order food upstairs. I am pretty upset that someone stole an umbrella on a rainy Sunday night. I no longer trust leaving anything by the door, even if it treks water throughout the nice interior building.

Alex W.

Yelp
Very much giving the ambient low key vibes of a secret prohibition era type bar. Talked to the bartender super nice mans and he told me that the interior is partly stuff built in the 1920's so makes sense. It's really worth checking out. This the place you take that shy quiet unsuspecting freak at work so y'all can fantasy role play mad men characters the way she wants. One of the best rum and cokes of my life.

Roy R. P.

Yelp
Have wanted to go to The Wolves since they opened. Finally went to The Wolves last night. The Wolves is smaller inside than it looks in many pictures posted online and the glasses of wine are larger than they look in many pictures posted online. The Wolves was probably busier than it usually is early on a Sunday evening since there was an Art Deco Society "Cocktails In Historic Places" event there. Although there was only one bartender and one waitress they did an amazing job of very quickly helping everyone.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Came at 9 on a Friday night Was 90% full but was able to get sat right away at a table top Ordered a Negroni and a tigers milk Vibes are amazing Music is loud but you can still hear everyone Decor in here is so cool I haven't even had a drink yet but I'd come back Got our drinks timely and they're fantastic Good food menu but didn't order any. Looks like fingers foods and small bites with dessert as well Tigers milk is fantastic, Negroni was really strong kinda bitter Definitely coming back to try other drinks Really nice servers too, always checking up

Monica R.

Yelp
Honestly, the place is historic, gorgeous and they say it us spooked as well. The service is great, very friendly, it is amazing to see the bartender working. The beer was great! My husband and I will back to eat as well, more French food. The beer and a ginger ale was $13 dollars.

Eunice C.

Yelp
Came with friends for their special holidays menu. Flawless crafty cocktails and the menu was spot on. The decor and the French inspired menu reminded me of dining in Paris. Years ago, the Wolves had already been known for their cocktails. Now with Chef Laurent Quenioux's culinary residence, I highly recommend this bar for any occasion. One can dress up like they are hitting Paris or causal hang at a neighborhood bar.

Tran T.

Yelp
this place is so chill and fun to go to whether it's for a happy hour drink or for a night out. i usually get the ginger beer. it's nonalcoholic but it tastes like fresh ginger and it's the right amount of spicy and sweet. we got both of these drinks during happy hour for only $7! super worth it to come here. service is always attentive and quick.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
An art dealer, an attorney, and an unscrupulous character walk into a bar... If you've stumbled into this beautiful stained glass bar, you'll notice everyone is in their own little world. The Spring Street block is a multi-verse in itself. The skin-deep cocktail is creative and delicious (although the salmon skin was a little unnecessary). I tried to nosh on the "eggs mimosa," but the stuffing was unbearable and unlike deviled eggs..... Strange Days will find you if you stop into this bar.

Jennifer V.

Yelp
I love the ambiance of the restaurant/bar. The style made me feel transported to a different time period . Our server was very informative with our menu questions. Not sure what this location was previously but it almost gave us church vibes . The drinks were tasty and very unique . The food in the other hand was so salty . Well to be specific the meat of the burger was too salty to eat . I couldn't eat it but I gave it to my bf . Men eat anything when they are hungry haha . The burger was so juicy and had so much potential to be something great . I am not sure if my burger patty was a one off or if thats the cooks preference. I would definitely go again for the drinks.

Andy J.

Yelp
Such a great spot. The interior is absolutely stunning and transports you to a classic old Hollywood but with a European flair. On top of the atmosphere, I'm usually really picky when it comes to cocktails but loved everything I tried.

Lisa N.

Yelp
Service was very attentive here. Came on a Thursday night for drinks and it wasn't crowded. It's dim and the decor is super fun from the 1920's. Got a mescal cocktail. It was decent. Didn't try the food but it seemed like your typical bar food. Would come here again for bar hopping.

Mayra R.

Yelp
Decor was great. But... Service was super slow, seemed extremely understaffed. Took 30 minutes to get 3 drinks. Drinks were good but it was not worth the wait to get a second one. The food.. Skip unless you love a long wait for bland food. Even the fries were under salted which is honestly a sin. Overall gave me a stomach ache and I wouldn't return.

Chris B.

Yelp
Coming here will transport you to another time and place. Bartender made a beautiful mocktail for me, really gave it 200%. Service was awesome but the vibe itself is so cool. Sometimes I pretend I'm Jack the Ripper ;) Definitely put on your list for downtown bar hop night.

Kshama P.

Yelp
Wouldn't go out of my way to get here. For starters, it's in DTLA, where street or garage Parking is over $15 p hour or $4 each. No reservations, open seating but badly managed. The top bar hosts pop-ups again weirdly managed. Felt like peoople were vaping/smoking because it smelled of smoke. We tried two of their special ones, let them talk and answered prayers, both tasted good but again not worth the whole trip to DTLA.

Louis F.

Yelp
1900's style oppulence and very old world elegance. Great whiskeys and bourbons. Very cool place. Small but feels open with the vaulted glass ceilings and lots of ornate wood. Good finger foods. Whiskey bar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink on a Sunday evening. Love this place. Jason made us amazing cocktails and we sat up in the balcony overlooking this incredible bar. Definitely a must visit spot. Hope to be back soon.

Yazmin G.

Yelp
Classy and nice! We stopped by and were surprised with how nice it was inside, great vibe definitely a little more of an upscale crowd. Still a great place to stop by and have a drink.

Ron R.

Yelp
It's all I dreamed of! I've been following The Wolves for sometime and have planned to visit it soon but something always came up that prevented me from going. However today was the day! The decor is fantastic! It's a space inspired by Art Nouveau. Everywhere you look there's a piece that catches the eye. The ceiling. The floors. The booths. It's all wonderful! Then there are the drinks! The bar Director Nate Mccolough and team are creating innovative cocktails that are far more than just drinks. They're well balanced, inspired art in a glass. Although we stopped in for a few drinks, the food looks incredible! I'll definitely will return for dinner AND drinks!

Barbie M.

Yelp
The ambiance and service is great!! Great place to get drink before hitting the Regent theater .

Jenna N.

Yelp
Only leaving this review because our server was amazing. Without him - I would've probably given 1 star.. I only remember his name starting with a K - Kody?! Sorry dude, I hope it's Kody. First - this place can get pretty busy and doesn't take reservations. We were a party of 7 so it was tricky to get a table. There's only 2 tables that can actually seat that many. So we waited and when we got a table (maybe 20 minutes in) After grabbing a table - we waited maybe 15 minutes for someone to take our order. When we asked one of the girls that walked by if we needed to order @ the bar, she was super sassy and rude. It was a pretty simple question - not sure why she needed the attitude. After our interaction with her, we wanted to leave and go home. She just felt very "mean girl" and we didn't feel welcomed by her. Anyway, Kody ended up being our server and was very attentive, very informative with the menu, very polite, and he made sure to check on us every time he walked by. We were celebrating a bride and he was very congratulatory and cheerful when chatting with us. He alone made the experience worthwhile for our group. The drinks are a bit wild - I'm a simple margarita girl, but if you like funky and detailed drinks - this is the bar for you. Drinks were also very strong. Probably using real liquor (vs the cheap sugary shit we get at the dive bars) All that to say - these starts are specifically for our server Kody. Fingers crossed his name is Kody. He was hustling and kind. Dude deserves a raise.

Natalie N.

Yelp
The farm to table was something with blackberry and hickory but boy did it taste like an alcoholic healthy beet juice (in the best, sweetest way). The let them talk was a funky meld of mushroom and alcohol that will definitely be one to remember. It feels like something I imagined come to life. On top of this, the bartender was absolutely majestic and does his job with a lot of flair.

Ivan B.

Yelp
This place is really fantastic and has a really cool (and spooky) history. The ambiance is really great: it's a lot of young people 20-30s and is really great for a casual drink. The food looked delicious but we didn't get to try it (make sure to get there before 10:30 because that's when their kitchen closes). Would recommend.

Jordan W.

Yelp
Very cool vibe inside with the stained glass roof and windows, and the bartender was friendly and offered quick service. Tried the burger, 1920s cocktail, and an old fashioned (just a regular one - not the specialty one with truffle). Burger was AMAZING. So much flavor especially with the caramelized onions. It is a little pricey but is $2 off during happy hour. Cocktail-wise, the regular old fashioned was good but nothing made it particularly better than any other old fashioned. Also tried the 1920s cocktail which was good as well - stronger, booze-forward drink.

Keo P.

Yelp
Very tight, trendy restaurant & bar located in the hart of DTLA. Overall, the place was super crowded, BUT the staff were awesome. We arrived and were looking for a table. It's just first come, first serve. One of the staff members could see us struggling and went out of her way to help us. I was so impressed! Overall, this is a very cool place in DTLA to visit on a night out on the town!!!
