"A fixture in North County, where it’s been operating on North Coast Highway in the Leucadia area since 2003, Le Papagayo is bringing a second, larger location to Carlsbad. Owner Darrin Campbell, who purchased the eatery in 2015 with the intent to expand, is taking over the former Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers space on Carlsbad Village Drive. La Papagayo is known for live music, and Campbell says this outpost will be even more music-forward. At 5,500-square-feet, the site will allow for a new stage and sound system to be installed to feature their regular roster of artists, who do everything from solo guitar to classic rock, flamenco, and reggae. While keeping favorites from the original menu, including the bread and pesto basket, Spanish paella, Thai chicken satay, and the signature sangria, Campbell has added a number of New American dishes to the lineup of breakfast, lunch, and dinner plates. After some cosmetic changes, the Carlsbad restaurant, which includes a large outdoor patio, should be reopening in two to three months." - Candice Woo

Google
Simple quality food and experience, I was there during happy hour and full menu wasn’t available, but even appetizers were tasty and filling, so I had a great time. Recommend!!!

Google
I absolutely love this place! The ambiance is wonderful, the service is attentive, and of course, the food is superb. I ordered the prime rib sandwich—the bread was perfectly crispy and the beef juicy. I highly recommend dining here. There’s a parking lot next to the restaurant, but finding a spot can be a bit tricky. It's worth the effort though.

This was the first time at this restaurant. I was very surprised. The food was very good. We met family for brunch, and everyone was pleased. We will return for family occasions. The server was the best. I highly recommend.

Google
Pretty good place, we sat outside by a nice fire, just waited a little for our seats. Enchiladas were also pretty good!

We usually visit for breakfast (breakfast is great here) but this time we had dinner. Service was good and the food was delicious. Tacos were a favorite as well the burgers. We had a friend celebrating a birthday and they sent over a gratis piece of cheesecake . Parking can be tough and you'll want reservations most nights.

Only one brief stop in, but it was enough to think of when to be back again. Hugo greeted us at the bar as very delightful and informative to the drinks and menu. Quickly able to work up one of the house specialty drinks (Ticket to Paradise) with their own infused liquor and coconut reduction...I could have sat all day with repeated glasses of this one alone. Due to being in between meals, we opted for the Birria nachos to munch on... I meant to just have a few nibbles of and suddenly there was nearly none left 😳. If the rest of the food is alike and the staff nearly as gracious and kind as Hugo, we will return over and over again. Great first impression. Will update upon the next visit. Thank you.

Google
Service was solid, outdoor seating is plentiful, nice and toasty under the heaters, the chairs outside are awful, but barstool chairs are almost always awful. Dog policy is welcoming and understanding. Fantastic lobster roll, killer crispy fries, and their sweet potato fries are crunchy with a solid flavor balance. (They no longer have the lobster roll!) Parking is easy, the $$ rating is misleading, it's absolutely a $$$ for sure, but it's also worth the price. Their Shrimp and Grits is excellent and filling, highly recommended with some toast.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, and finally did! It did not disappoint. The food was out of this world. We ordered the fried cauliflower, birria egg rolls (these were to die for), and the ceviche. The drinks were also delicious, and top notch service! Can’t wait to come back.

Yelp
Le Papaygo in Carlsbad is a delightful spot -- even with their own private parking. We had to park a block away in a side street. Upon arriving on Friday night (e.g., call and make reservations), I can understand their popularity. The restaurant impresses me with its vibrant atmosphere, live band and exceptional food. The entrance is boxed with outdoor seatings on either side. We were quickly greeted and seated. The restaurant offers a unique fusion of flavors and standout in-house pesto olive oil dip! This free appetizer with warm bread is addictive. I see other patrons coming in for casual dinners and special occasions. Our server, Carlos, was amazing. We ordered : 1- Seafood Paella : Am I able to say 6/5?! It's delicious with perfect texture--rice that lightly covered with sauce and burnt at the edges. There was generous amount of sauté seafood and sausages. 2- The mussels are a MUST! There are breads to soak up the seasoned sauce BUT NOT ENOUGH bread so we had to ask for seconds and thirds. 3- Seafood enchiladas were delicious. A bit of kick so delicious. I will certainly bookmark and had made plans to comeback next month.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for a good restaurant, but one that has live music is even better. This one boasts a different band every day. The menu is robust-a good amount of items that will appeal to the masses. I enjoyed a chicken teriyaki bowl for lunch while my wife had the fish and chips. Both were pretty good. Service was ok, but a little slow once we got our food. We had to flag someone down after a while to get our check so we could leave.

Yelp
We have lived in the Carlsbad area for several years but up until Friday night had not tried this restaurant. A group of our neighbors go out regularly, so it was decided to try Le Papagayo. We had a reservation for 8 at 7:15. Unfortunately one of our neighbors didn't feel well, so only 3 couples went to the restaurant. The restaurant seemed very busy, so we weren't seated until 7:25 which was fine. After being taken to our table and given menus, we waited to order drinks and appetizers. We waited and waited. Finally after 20 minutes one of my neighbors got up to find a server. A short time later our server arrived and apologized saying they were very busy. We told him it was okay and ordered drinks and appetizers. After 25 minutes and no drinks, my neighbor again got up to look for a manager. A few minutes later our server arrived with drinks but no appetizers. (I know these times are correct because I took a photo of our group when the drinks arrived). We asked about our appetizers and we were told the kitchen was backed up. We ordered our dinners at that time because we were getting tired of all the waiting. Our waiter told us he was going on break and someone else will serve us for a while. After 15 more minutes and no appetizers my neighbor did find the manager. She came over and said she would check on the order. After a few more minutes the manager came with the appetizers. By this time we all were pretty fed up with the worst service any of us could recall at a restaurant. Our dinners came out about ten minutes later. No one's meal was hot, lukewarm at best. Although I will say the appetizers were hot. After eating we tried to get the bill and pay, but again could not find the server. Again the manager had to help and get the bill. We finally walked out of the restaurant at 9:30PM, two hours and fifteen minutes after our reservation time. This was the worst experience at any restaurant we had visited in years. And even though the manager was told about this situation numerous times, she did little to make a very bad situation better. I know one group of Carlsbad residents who will not be returning.

Yelp
Based on my personal experiences, I always aim to provide positive feedback to the Yelp Community. This time, it's not too rosey especially when the new year is right around the corner. I decided to give Le Papagayo another chance since it's literally in walking distance from where I live. I heard the live music when I drove by which tugged at my heartstrings. But when I saw Sunday Night Football on the TV screens. I was like... what the heck! Later on, I regreted my decision. The hostess immediately took me to a booth table. Suprisingly, it wasn't busy for a Monday night. I stepped away briefly to go to the restroom. I returned to my table and it went downhill from there. I sat there for awhile without any acknowledgment. I was heated. No one likes to be ignored. I went back to the hostess who took me to my table. She was on the telephone discussing someone's reservation. I guess that conversation was a priority rather than addressing someone standing in front of her. I asked a random guy for the Manger. The Manager casually walked up to me and I let him know my total disappointment in his staffs' inattentiveness. I should've trusted my instincts. This restaurant receives no stars from me. I would recommend an intensive customer service training for staff.

Yelp
This was a nice spot! Came here for a work dinner on a Tuesday and enjoyed the experience! Tuesday has all day happy hour too! The Great - The food was all good and the draft beer selection excellent. The Good - The vibe of the restaurant was really nice. A nice big bar too. The Bad - There is too much stuff on the table (ha ha) The Ugly - NA Our dinner was enjoyable. Service a little slow, but that as ok. Just maybe don't go ravishingly hungry! I'd certainly go back. The patio is awesome and with parking right there, it was very convenient.

Yelp
I visited Le Papagayo in Carlsbad on a rainy Saturday night, and despite the weather, the place was packed, so we had to wait for a table. I ordered the fish tacos, which were good--no complaints there. The atmosphere was pretty loud, and the service was decent, nothing extraordinary. After dinner, we moved to the bar to listen to some live music and grab a drink, but again, it was just okay. I personally prefer the Leucadia location; it has a different vibe that suits me better. Overall, while it wasn't a bad experience, I wouldn't go out of my way to return to this location.

Alicia K.

Yelp
What a vibe. Artistic with a touch of culture. Live music a lot of nights. Highly recommend the onion rings, seafood enchiladas, s'mores skillet, and the butter cake! All amazing!!! Our waiter was a sweet heart too.

Taura G.

Yelp
This place has a wonderful Happy Hour and the servers are super professional. They make sure that they cover each other in between customers. We also had an order of their short rib egg rolls appetizer to share, which was great and prepared perfectly. They also have cold and delicious beer on draft. The $20 Papagayo Burger is LEGIT great. The meat was premium grade and the ingredients on the burger were all fresh. The brioche bun is a winner. The flatbread pizza is also great and was perfect size. Dessert was their butter cake, topped with berries. This was VERY good. Our server was awesome. The live music is a great feature here. I posted the calendar with the schedule in a picture on this review. On our way out we we walked through the patio exit. A middle aged Hispanic woman was sitting in what looked like an "owners" table on the patio. I am bilingual and heard her insult us in Spanish as we walked out of the restaurant. She also doubled down on her insult and gave us a really ugly look. My Husband isn't bilingual but he saw her nasty look and we both felt insulted after that. Although this is a great place to enjoy dinner and a Padre Game with live music after the game...we probably won't be back because of what I perceived as "the owner" openly insulting us in Spanish. UPDATE: The Manager Jose responded to me privately that they checked their cameras and that the lady who insulted us in Spanish was not a part of their ownership nor restaurant team. With this news and kind follow-up, we will visit Le Papagayo again. I appreciate that this restaurant checked and verified this information.

Yelp
Solid pub restaurant to come to for good bites and casual atmosphere. The service is friendly and timely. There's a good drink list and plenty of outdoor seating. 1. Shrimp - Tasty and flavorful. Comes hot 2. Buffalo cauliflower - Salty and could be better but does have the buffalo flavor 3. Steak - Delicious and good portion Overall, good place to try at least once!

Breanna P.

Yelp
Sooooo goooood! The flavor was amazing, however, it was not hot or even warm when it got to the table. Bummer. Especially on Valentine's Day. But the flavor was so good that it got a 4 Star.

Becky K.

Yelp
Mexican style restaurant located in Carlsbad Village. The restaurant itself is beautiful. There is a large outdoor patio area. It is beautiful at night with all of the fire pits lighted. We went on a Friday night, and there was live music. You are allowed to have pets on the patio. There were a ton of dogs. So my spouse came on Monday and stated that by the time he went back with me on Friday, they completely changed the menu. We had the flank steak which was pretty good. It came with truffle fries, which were delicious. A little pricey for the quality of the food but overall it was a good experience.

Keri M.

Yelp
A great spot to catch the game! Plentiful seating and delicious bites! A good selection of specialty cocktails too! I recommend the Bloody Mary (with extra pearl onions). We will definitely be back.

Diana R.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday night around 7:45 and waited just 5 minutes for a table for 6. The weather was perfect for sitting at their outdoor patio. Food was excellent and the guys got to catch the game on the tvs too. Drinks were good also and the servers were attentive and nice. I'm looking forward to going back for a family dinner night. It's also a few minutes walk from Handel's ice cream for dessert so yay!

Tianna S.

Yelp
Service was top notch they made us feel like we were their only customer. Food was delicious and we will definitely come back when we are in the area

Yelp
My boyfriend and I took my mom here after she mentioned this restaurant countless times over a long time period. This location is in downtown Carlsbad, and little known fact, is the old location of my beloved Blockbuster I grew up walking to as a kid. They do have a rather large parking lot, so this is a PLUS when visiting the downtown Carlsbad area. My mom still lives a block away, and was ecstatic to try it out! we went on a busy evening, but it definitely pays to make your reservations ahead of time. We were seated near the bar area at a booth, and there just happened to be live music that night. If you know there will be a live band the night you are going and plan to talk to each other throughout your dinner, I recommend asking for a location in the other side of the restaurant. We are talkers, and it was really hard to hear each other without raising our voices quite a bit. If you or someone in your party has sensory issues... also something to consider when choosing which area of the restaurant to sit in on these nights. Now, lets get to food! I uploaded photos of all the deliciousness... but hands down a great menu! food came out at a good pace given the busy night, and our waitress was very friendly. My mom is USUALLY not impressed when dining out, but she was very happy to meet her sandwich that night haha. The portions are great, taste is wonderful, and you will definitely have some leftovers to take home. I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting the village- try it for yourself!

Dan K.

Yelp
3rd time here with my family! We love eating outside and having the best server, Erica. She goes above for all 6 of us each time. Great food, drinks and nice vibe here. Thanks for the love Erica! Marilee

Yelp
Wonderful Place and Service. I recommend stronglyto visit here. Have a good choice.

David H.

Yelp
Great place to go to ...menu is broad from Mexican dishes ...breakfast items and just normal Sandwhich type dishes ..kept it simple with a grilled cheese but added the lobster bisque ...good side Sandwhich and really good bisque ...large outdoor area to enjoy in a nice day ...recommend

Joe M.

Yelp
Had drinks and a tapa. Nice atmosphere and location in Carlsbad. Service was good. The short rib egg roll is excellent. There are several public parking lots in the area that made parking easy.

Angel C.

Yelp
Met my BFF for dinner here on a rainy Wednesday night & she was happy to find this spot right off the highway. Lots of indoor & outdoor seating & definitely pet friendly. There was live music while we ate. We both ordered the happy hour burger & our waitress was great in suggesting some wine options for us. To top off the night the butter cake dessert was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!

Joriene M.

Yelp
Food (5/5 stars): Their menu had so many great options, so I went with my server's recommendation: the Birria Enchiladas. You can never go wrong with birria -- it's so tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, which theirs was. And I loved their enchilada sauce. It had the perfect amount of spice! The spicy refried black beans complimented the enchiladas very well, too. I was also surprised by the big portions. I highly recommend Le Papagayo if you want a slightly fancier dinner and will be back for their steak and ribs! Experience (4/5 stars): * Price: expensive but worth trying * Wait Time: we made a reservation * Service: Tamara and Helen were excellent! They were very friendly and gave good recommendations * Parking: a big of a struggle on a holiday night, but they have nearby free parking lots and street parking * Ambiance: very beautiful, open air, modern restaurant

Felipe A.

Yelp
Came here to try this place out. We like to try different places to eat when we travel. Le Papagayo will not let you down. Yvette was our server very pleasant and attended to us. It nice to have your server pass by several times to see if you need anything else. Great music we sat outside it the covered patio area. Great view of the Bar and Village Dr. We ordered the Papagayo Dbl Cheeseburger. Wow great taste and will definitely be coming back here when we are in Carlsbad. Stop in you will not be dissatisfied.

Kimberly I.

Yelp
This is such an upbeat brunch spot! I came here with my family to celebrate a birthday and the food was well portioned and delicious. From the Cocktails to the food everyone was overall very happy. We were walk ins and waited about 10 minutes to be seated. This location is great for big or small parties! Will be back again to get the chilaquiles as they were so amazingly good.

Savanna V.

Yelp
My weekday lunch here with a coworker was a great first lunch experience. We were seated immediately on the patio, which was nice with ceiling fans and a breeze to offset the heat. Our server Sydney was friendly and attentive! I ordered an Arnold Palmer and the 2-taco plate, for which I chose the mahi mahi and shrimp tacos. Both were delicious and I got just enough chips on the side to feel satisfied. Until next time!

Alexandra B.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant with one of my friends. Tuesdays are all day happy hour! Wine and beer is two dollars off and so are many appetizers. We ordered the Wahine salad, the papagayo salad, mahi fish tacos, and the calamari. Everything was fantastic! They also had live music. Their Carlsbad location Was very nice and high-end. With a very modern decor. It is also dog friendly on the patio. We had a great time and are looking forward to going again.

Ashley W.

Yelp
I had exceptional service from Bethany when I came in. Food was great service was great I have no complaints! Highly recommend if you are looking for a great brunch spot!

Priscilla S.

Yelp
We recently visited here for dinner with family from out of town and had a really great experience. First off, we had reservations for 5 (including a baby) and the restaurant was nice enough to accommodate our family's large stroller. Our server was super friendly and accommodating of our need for extra time to order/dine due to the baby and the fact that we haven't seen our family in years and so we may have taken a little longer to dine than most customers. My husband and I got the paella and an appetizer to share, along with some drinks. Everything was super tasty. The paella was very flavorful and had a good amount of seafood. We were full with what we got, but low key wished we ordered the larger size because it was that good. Drinks were very balanced and tasty per usual. We all ended our meal with the butter cake, which came with ice cream. A bit on the sweeter side for my taste, but definitely delicious and a great way to end our meal. We've been to Le Papagayo many times, but I want to say that this has been one of our best visits yet in terms of service and food. Will definitely be back in the future.

Kelly L.

Yelp
While the service was excellent as well as the food. Had the Special Tamale Birria and that is a fantastic tasting plate. This review is in regards to their drink listed as "Dragula". While the service was excellent as well as the food. Had the Special Tamale Birria and that is a fantastic tasting plate. This review is in regards to their drink listed as "Dragula". I'd say it literally was a failure as it was listed as a Bacon washed Vodka and included all the fixings. In reality this drink included three Jalapeño or similar peppers and nothing else. Myself being a prior bartender I was extremely disappointed. My wife also ordered the same and not only were they weak drinks they also lacked any sort of appeal. Basic and lacking is how I would describe the Bloody Mary drink that they offered. As a result will not order any cocktails here again, especially since these drinks come at price of $18.00 each. We will drink next door at the Regal Segal in the future and only enjoy a meal here.

Chad R.

Yelp
How are you charging wings ($21) the same as a chicken pesto sandwich?? I ain't mad about eh cost of the sandwich, (well I am...) but the wings are supposed to be an appetizer. 21 freaking dollar wings??? And they're mediocre?! Y'all need to take a look at your menu again... this is a fun place but the prices are ridiculous and all over the place And I have been here for over an hour and never once asked anything after getting a drink. Menu, refill, nothing at all! I hate saying this but this is terrible Respect all of your customers. People to my left and right have been attended to and I have gotten nothing. Even after asking, they just skip by me. I guess I won't get any over priced foot ‍

Nell C.

Yelp
The BLTA is very good and made up for my previous review on the breakfast. The service has not improved and took a very long time before anyone came out. We had to ask a busssboy for assistance and then a server was sent out to take our order. This was in excess of 15 minutes waiting. After server came and took everyone's order, service was satisfactory.

Juliann T.

Yelp
Came in around 5:20 and was seating excited to order happy hour. My go to is always the Papagayo margarita and Mussels. We were seated for 11 minutes before we were greeted by our server and asked if we could still get happy hour since we were seated prior. The server said no which while understandable we were still there and ready to order prior to HH ending. Only because the happy hour prices are not that different than their regular prices we decided to just say ok. That aside. The food and drinks are great! Margarita is strong and you get your moneys worth and the mussels are always great.

Yasamine P.

Yelp
Papagayo is always a hit! I typically go to the Encinitas location but came here for a little white elephant get together last night. We made reservations in advance for 7 of us and glad we did cuz it was packed on a Wednesday! I'm guessing they recently updated the back of their dinner menu because I had an old version that looked different and had just a few different menu options compared to everyone else at the table. We started with some prager bros bread but the shining star of the bread basket is the house made pesto it is served with. YUM. Other items we tried: Spicy fried cauliflower-if you can't tolerate anything more than mild spice, don't let the ghost pepper dust deter you. Our server assured us that there actually isn't anything spicy on the menu. I was scared but we went for it and while I would say it was the highest spice level my mild tolerance can handle, I didn't have to wash it down with any milk or do laps around the parking lot. If you can do the mild at Dave's hot chicken, you can handle this Wedge salad (no bacon)-my initial thought was it didn't look filling, and I'd say if we hadn't gotten the bread and cauliflower beforehand I would have still been slightly hungry, but once I cut up the iceberg lettuce it did end up filling the plate and was delish. Blue cheese crumbles were not too overpowering Other things ordered at the table: arugula and prosciutto flatbread, strawberry and goat cheese salad, mac n cheese, BLT, and truffle fries. Everyone was very happy with their dishes and half off wine Wednesdays Service was great, our server said he could break up the check into 3 different ones at most, which was doable. They have a parking lot both to the front and side so I've never had an issue finding a spot although I have had to circle back once or twice. Overall, either location is awesome

Aaron V.

Yelp
This is hands down one of my favorite places to grab breakfast. You simply can't go wrong with anything in the menu. I don't know how this place could get anything less than 5 stars unless someone just had a one off bad experience. I've been here several times and it flat out delivers every time. The service is always great and the layout of the restaurant provides a nice setting whether inside or out. Highly recommend. Cheers!

Terri K.

Yelp
Good food & good service. Lots of parking in the lot & plenty of covered outdoor seating. Inside has seating with a big bar as well. I had ahi poke nachos but substituted the wonton tortillas for corn tortillas. Very tasty sauces & the ahi was fresh. It was a very large dish $23. The two taco dish was yummy as well. We'll be back.

Star B.

Yelp
Grilled cheese with Lobster Bisque + fries! It's good, very good. The way they grill the bread makes me jealous it's that tasty. Right amount of cheesiness and the Lobster Bisque is perfect. Temperature and texture tie everything together. Love sitting at the bar and the service is good. It feels like a semi open space because of the inside outside access by the bar. Great patio covered seating. It's a favorite quick go to spot.

Alex G.

Yelp
Legitimately the worst Kalua Pork I've ever eaten in my life. As a Hawaiian, it was legit offensive to get this dish covered in barbecue sauce. It doesn't mention that on a menu and never in literally dozens and dozens of iterations of Kahlua pork I've eaten in my life has there ever been a bbq sauce put on any of them. I didn't even think you could screw up Kahlua pork. It's just Alea, Mesquite liquid smoke, a dash of soy and that's it! If you've ever had Kalua pork before don't order this. If you have more of a southern palate and like very sweet bbq sauce consider this pulled pork and I guess enjoy it?!? It sure as heck is nothing even remotely similar to the dish it's named for. Server was awesome so I'll try this place again but if it was up to food alone I'd never come back.

Tracey A.

Yelp
Lively and fun! Lots of great food choices, one of our faves is the Kahlua Pork. Good choice of cocktails, fire pit tables, lots of activity in the area which continues into the restaurant. We go here often and enjoy it every time!

Sommer C.

Yelp
I'm literally addicted to this place! The food is ALWAYS good and that's no exaggeration. It gets busy on weekends but it's worth the wait. It is vegan friendly and flavorful. You can find live music there on weekends.

Keysha M.

Yelp
The food here never disappoints. I ordered the birria enchiladas and they were seriously delicious. I wasn't even mad at the $2 upgrade to add avocado. It's been 3 hours since I left there, I'm down the street at a bar and I'm thinking of going back and getting an order to go.

Liz M.

Yelp
Went to this place for happy hour in a Thursday afternoon. It was quiet, not many customers. Their happy hour prices were eh. I had fish tacos and beer. Honestly I've had better fish tacos at Del Taco, that should say a lot. Overpriced and cold. The service was great though, our waitress was very attentive.

Bao P.

Yelp
Great chilaquiles and very accommodating for our group of 8. They had their heat lamps on in the morning which was nice for the chilly morning we had.

Anna C.

Yelp
Lively atmosphere with tons of TVs playing football during the playoffs. There was also live music in the back. Service was friendly, but he must have had too many tables since we had to flag him down for almost everything. Food was not great -- the wings were overly fried and became dry, the Caesar salad had way too much parm on it, and the butter cake was dry. The only thing I enjoyed was the birria tacos, but at $22, it didn't deliver on value. They do offer it for $17 at happy hour, which is still a bit pricey for what it is.

Anastasia T.

Yelp
Wow, where to begin. Got there and tables were about half full. Waited 10 minutes to give the hostess our name. The hostess said she would place us on the waitlist and it would be around 35 minutes. There were MANY empty tables for 2 near the bar so we asked if they were open bar seating and she said no, they were reserved. We walked away but used the Open Table app to make an immediate reservation. Got back in line. The same struggling hostess was very perplexed so she called a manager. He said the reservations were not meant for people on the wait list so he wouldn't allow us to, "game the system." WTH??? Hey, if u let Open Table hold half ur tables, shame on u. Anyway, told every single person waiting for a table to make a reservation. Won't be back.

Kelsey M.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Carlsbad! The Lobster Ravioli is by far the best I've ever had, they do not skip out on the Lobster meat like most other places do! They also have a full bar that's spacious with outside or inside bar seating. They're wine selection is wonderful and plenty to choose from. They have live bands play (I believe on the weekends only) and the best part was it wasn't overly loud when they did play, we were still able to have conversations and listen to some great talent ! The vibes of this place are great, I will come back here every time I get to visit my hometown ! P.s this used to be a blockbuster back in the good ol days BUT the boulder in the parking lot... they're still there so don't turn into those like I did when I was a teenager (sorry mom)

Yelp
Food was great - Lobster bisque, fresh warm bread with pesto dip, prime rib special fri night, ahi tuna poke nachos, and chix pot pie were really delicious! Atmosphere is loud even outside on the patio. They had a live singer playing inside and in between his sets the restaurant would play atmosphere music and turn it up louder than when the singer was actually playing so sometimes it was hard to hear / make conversations with our table. Service was way extremely slow. First we had a guy and then we had a gal takeover. Ordered a dr. pepper, didn't come when everyone else got their drinks from the bar. Finally came and it had a Splenda wrapper in it. Third time came and it was root beer, gave up. Drinks from bar were tasty-strong! The place was really packed at 7:00 on Friday night but still we waited a very long time to get staff flagged down in the beginning just for water. Very busy place and maybe just understaffed...good thing we weren't in a rush. The executive chef came out towards the end of the night to see how the meal was which was a really nice touch! We would prob go back because the food was good. Although parking was a challenge but expected too given the location. ‍ Giving it 4 stars only because of the food...

Yelp
As a physically disabled person, I sat at a table for 25 minutes without the server or manager coming up to offer me a menu. I saw orders coming out of the kitchen; perhaps they thought I was homeless and was one of the freeloaders. But after 25 minutes of no service and depressing music, I decided to leave. As I walked by the manager, I asked him why I was not served. He said it was because I sat myself. Little did he know that my right ankle which has six screws and a plate in it was aching so bad that I decided to stop by before the drive home after a long day serving the homeless. Rude and inconsiderate, and hopefully, the owner will read this and change his policies. Avoid the Barrio and Whiskey Creek, as well as the same owner that owns them. In Carlsbad, we are all supposed to be treated the same. What happened to that physiology?
