On the Grid : Bar Le Passage

"Here time has stopped. John le Carré would have probably written the scene of a meeting between a spy and the wife of another spy. Armchair clubs, retro folding screens, smoke-filled ambience and ethereal cocktails. Time can be suspended until 3 in the morning on weekdays, that’s rather rare. You must be an insider to find the address, at the end of the "passage". Ring only once. Now you know." - Graphéine

Really cool spot with great vibes! The LED lights and the bar look amazing. The main dishes were a nice surprise—big portions and super tasty. Drinks were good too. Not a huge fan of the music, but overall, I’d definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in Lyon!

We came to the bar as a group of three friends, arriving quite early. Since none of us wanted to drink alcohol, the very friendly barmaid offered to make mocktails and mix custom ones tailored to our preferences, based on which ingredients we wanted. We each told her what we liked, and she created truly exciting concoctions. It turned into an evening we won't forget anytime soon. Thank you very much, the service is excellent.

Great cocktails and an even better smile. We came to the bar -not the restaurant- 2 nights in a row and she made us feel welcomed and attended. She opens the door to guests, makes and serves the cocktails, clears and wipes the tables, tops your glass of water up, and never stops smiling. She's the heart and soul of this little bar. Top service from Esther!

Do not book with then if you have an important event as they will let you down. We made a reservation for my birthday 2 weeks ago for 9 people. The restaurant reviewed and accepted the reservation. 9 days before of the booking, they cancelled the reservation without explanation. After several attempts, I was only able to contact them by instagram, and the excuse was they had a private event and due to their lack of internal communication they cancel my booking to let someone else there.

Took the meal of the day. They'll seat you at "the bistro". Excellent food, really friendly and smiling waiter. Wanted to order, but they kindly recommend to wait at the end of the main course to see if we're still hungry, and indeed we were really full after the mains! Will come again

I've been in Lyon for 6 years and did not know about this restaurant and bar. But I think we will be returning often. We started at the "speakeasy bar" where you have to be buzzed in and some great craft cocktails are served in a lovely room. Then dinner in the beautiful dining room with it's own huge bar. Food is served to share here, so each dish is put in the center of the table. We had one entree and three main plates for three of us and it was plenty of food. Everything (nems, tataki, black cod, and lamb shank) was delicious. There is an extensive wine list, but a good fraction were unavailable, mostly at the lower end (60-90 euros) of the range. We did have two nice bottles however. Highly recommend for a special night out.

We were met with indfirence as Australians we tried to speak French but the staff made less effort than us to communicate. Some food was good but some was rubbish a wagyu beef that was basically a plate of capsicum no meat to be seen in the black sauce. Expensive and a tres ordinary experience. Don't bother and go to Le Merciere
