A Chicago Hotel Hopes Augmented Reality Doesn’t Bite - Eater Chicago
"Le Petit Chef at Fairmont Chicago utilizes augmented reality (AR) to digitally project animated characters, settings, and foods right onto tables and plates. Diners experience a five-course dinner while an eponymous 2 ½-inch-tall chef appears in 3D to prepare the meals. The dinner is set up in a conference room in the Fairmont, offering an immersive dining experience. The menu is designed in-house at Fairmont; the kitchen drew inspiration from the animation. Each city will have different menus. The animation and experience suggest that it might be something for kids or a fun date night for adults. Overall, Le Petit Chef delivers great animation and colorful visuals but diners might struggle with the food and sound quality." - Tony Tran
This was an outstanding dining experience. The service lacked and did not match the price point. I preordered the wine pairing and it didn’t come at first. I had to be the one to provide proof that I paid. But the food was delicious and the animation was clear and 3D!! Highly recommended.
