"Born in South Africa and raised in New Zealand and Australia where he learnt the craft, Nick Honeyman fell in love with France and its produce following stints at Arpège and above all Astrance. In fact, it was thanks to Pascal Barbot that our globetrotter found his way to this bistro that he has gradually turned into a gourmet establishment. Exquisitely presented, his signature cuisine is a masterfully intelligent festival of emulsions and contrasting flavours. This seasonal restaurant (May-Sept) located in a picturesque village boasts a terrace overlooking the garden’s manicured lawn. In the dining room, Sina, Nick’s German wife and trained sommelière, suggests local wines, fine vintages and the occasional bottle of New Zealand wine." - Michelin Inspector

Fantastic restaurant. The food was very creative, with Asian influences on local cuisine from Dordogne. Everything was executed perfectly, the flavors were sharp, well balanced and the textures as well were always just right. The chef is terrific, but let's not forget the adorable staff, very nice and helpful. The setting is beautiful, outdoor tables with a view on a charming church from the 11th century IIRC, in great condition. A must.

Le Petit Leon is like a culinary dream. Chief Nick Honeyman combines local taste into his recipes. Each plates makes you discover new layers of taste explosion, it is like reading new exciting story. The wine list is also superb, wide variety of selection. I yr waiter Elliot made us feel like we are at friend’s house, so welcoming. This place is one of my best, favorite place

Wonderful lunch at La Petit Leon! Each course of our 5 course meal was a delight! Highly recommend if you are able to reserve a table.

Real delight, sitting outside and enjoying some scrumptious food - each course a marvellous parcel of delicate, flavoursome food, freshly and carefully prepared and presented. Best not to read the menu (but need to list all your allergies first). Waiters friendly, with sense of humour, very good and very knowledgeable about the wines and food presented. Best to come as a group to enjoy the full ambiance of the place.

Expensive but worth it as a one off blow out holiday meal. The menu is a surprise & not advertised which might not suit everyone not knowing what you are going to eat. Gluten free & nut allergy were no problem in our party of eight, the dishes were adapted accordingly. Relaxed atmosphere, food very good. We had the seven course tasting menu & the portions were good sizes. Left feeling very satisfied & full.

We were so happy we were able to get a table here. The food was amazing. My non-alcoholic drinks pairing was the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Definitely worth a detour if you are in the Dordogne area.

Delicious, artistically-created and presented. Expensive but you get your money’s worth…great for that special occasion. Would have liked to have had better changing-out of the cutlery to handle the variety of flavors sent our way. Also we were left to use only the bread plate for the first two courses (appetizers and another). Other than that, a pro restaurant experience. Check ahead if you have a problem with seafood as all but one of the courses were seafood (which we love, but other customers may find that too much of a surprise).

We were recommended to visit this restaurant by Paul and Charlotte from Maison Montruff. What a fabulous recommendation. Our group went for the 7 options at €90 each. Not cheap but to say the food and service was first class doesn’t do it justice. The waitress Marylou was very attentive and explained each dish. I should also say that the restaurant caters for allergies and have Gluten Free options and substitutes. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If your in the area and want top quality food and service then please do visit. They will not disappoint you.
