6 Best Day Trips from Paris

"At Le Pincemin, the artistic, inventive menu changes often based on the chef's whims, but you're likely to find dishes that meld land and sea; say, beef tartare with oysters, salicornes, and confit cucumbers, served in a giant Limoges porcelain shell. The signature—which must be ordered in advance—is the blue Breton lobster, flambeed and served with vegetables glazed in lobster bisque. The fixed lunch menu costs 35 euros (about $38); dinners have a five-course tasting for 65 euros (about $70)." - Lindsey Tramuta, Mary Winston Nicklin

Le Pincemin

"A bona fide star of social media who rubs shoulders with rappers and celebrities, Xavier Pincemin (the runaway winner of Top Chef 2016) almost overshadows the Sun King here in his Versailles restaurant. He brings together all generations and nationalities – if you are lucky enough to get a table. His up-to-the-minute cuisine showcases the finest produce without bells and whistles and demonstrates his sense of ambition as well as his undiminished passion for high-end gastronomy, as exemplified by his dish of hake, verbena, peach and courgettes." - Michelin Inspector

I made a reservation and went right at opening time. As soon as the restaurant door opened, people started coming in, and even though it was a weekday, many people came. So, I think reservations are essential. I ate a course cuisine, and the dishes served today were my favorites, so I was very satisfied and really delicious. All dishes are creative and well-balanced, adding to the flavor of the taste. So every dish was perfect for me. The staff were friendly and the ambience of the restaurant was nice.

Wonderful dining experience. The staff is professional, yet friendly and attentive. The food is daring and different. Traditional French meals are given a new and swanky version that surprises the tongue. Since details make all the difference, it’s worth mentioning that the chef Pincemin came to several tables, including ours and sent us a complimentary cognac, which made the experience personalized and memorable. The only thing “missing” is a Michelin star that I have no doubt will be coming very soon!

Perfect evening! We booked our table few weeks in advanced to celebrate my birthday. Upon arriving, our waiter Nolan (if I'm am not mistaken) greeted us warmly and through the evening made sure we will have a great time, while accommoding our special requests, alongside great recommendations for wine and food. Food was excellent besides some small hickup that they were very apologetic for and did the best to compensate our discomfort. Highly recommend this place, and especially the perfect waiter we had.

Wow - what an experience We were thrilled with our meal here. The food was exceptional....as was the service. There was so much delicate attention paid to the dishes....they were beautiful and delicious Each plate had so much layering to the flavors and textures. The amuse-bouche, the pork terrine, the cod, the apricot dessert.....even the house made rolls with homemade lemon butter....oh my gosh And I forgot to tell them my girlfriend is pescatarian and they accommodated her with two different dishes...with a smile. They were so sincerely nice to us I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Whether you're visiting the Versailles Palace or want to get out of Paris....this is a can't miss stop

A wonderful first evening at Xavier Pincemin's restaurant. We were there at the first evening after their holidays, so we could see how the team put in the effort to get everything on track. The food brings French cuisine with a contemporary touch. It was a delight. We will sure visit again!

Yelp
Anniversary lunch at French celebrity chef Xavier Pincemin's spot in Versailles (He was the runaway winner of Top Chef in 2016) 7 course degustastion (tasting) menu 1 - deconstructed pizza - tiny pizza dough pocket with creamed aubergine inside, and on a spoon, a bubble of tomato sauce with olive oil & yellow caviar 2 - house baked bread with seaweed butter 3 - tuna ceviche - tuna cubes marinated in water with a green foam mouse 4 - lobster tempura with grilled green & white asparagus topped with mango sauce & yellow caviar 5 - boiled egg yolk (1 hour at 64 degrees Celsius!) 6 - monkfish with mango coulis, fresh peas & tempura onions 7 - white chocolate encased ice cream with kiwi fruit & crème fraise Kir Royale to start, with white Burgundy wine pairings and coffee & pink champagne to finish Our bilingual waiter was extraordinarily knowledgeable Xavier came out to speak to all the diners...and we just had to buy the book which he very kindly dedicated to us on a special day Maybe 50 seats in an unassuming building 20 mins walk from the Palace with a wonderfully relaxed ambiance There is a reason why this place is in the Michelin guide, and you get what you pay for It's a shame we don't have more of these kind of places in the USA Simply marvelous
