The 19 Best Hotels in Montreal

"As soon as you walk off the cobblestoned street into the Saint-Sulpice, you'll feel the hotel's energy, thanks to sight lines that cross the lobby and move through the bar, the restaurant, and into the coveted sunny courtyard. There are a million comfortable spots to sit and relax on the ground floor. The ability to stretch out in a suite—the only room category at Le Saint-Sulpice—in historic Old Montreal is a luxury that can't be underestimated. French windows overlook charming Rue Saint-Sulpice or the even more charming inner courtyard, and some rooms have balconies. Although the decor feels a little dated—the busy patterned wall-to-wall carpet, the prevalence of red—one thing's for sure: the bed and bathroom are both plush and plenty comfortable. And when it comes to location Saint-Sulpice's (between Notre-Dame Cathedral and the waterfront in the Old Port) is stupendous." - Isa Tousignant, Todd Plummer

Le Saint-Sulpice Hôtel Montréal

"As you enter the lobby, what are your first impressions? As soon as you walk off the cobblestoned street into the Saint-Sulpice, you'll feel the hotel's energy, thanks to sight lines that cross the lobby and move through the bar, the restaurant, and into the coveted sunny courtyard. There are a million comfortable spots to sit and relax on the ground floor. Who are you likely to see around here? The ground-floor meeting spaces hosts events for local media, businesses, and arts organizations, so the hotel tends to have a buzzy, active feel. The courtyard is one of the best outdoor meeting spaces in the neighborhood, and you'll see plenty of area professionals taking advantage of it. Tell us about the rooms. The ability to stretch out in a suite—the only room category at Saint-Sulpice—in historic Old Montreal is a luxury that can't be underestimated. And what about the finer details—what's on the bathroom counter? In the minibar?L'Occitane bathroom products are always a perk, as are Nespresso machines and down comforters. The concierge service is part of the Clef d'Or group—meaning that it's excellent—and the wifi is free. If you're in the mood to order in, what's your move?Room service comes from Sinclair, the popular onsite restaurant, which means you can bring fine dining up to your suite in the form of deer with parsnip mash, black garlic, and goat's cheese, a rack of lamb with polenta fries, or a smoked meat burger on pretzel bun. Was the service notable? The concierge service is next-level: fun, kind, and super knowledgeable about the goings-on around town. As you're hanging out around the Saint-Sulpice, what sticks out in your mind?In summer, the inner courtyard, an extension of Sinclair, is a true jewel. The open-plan lobby is also a lovely place to hang; sidle up to the bar in the Sinclair Lounge and order a Bloody Gentleman Jack Caesar—as good as it sounds. Okay, so bottom line: What's the main draw here?Saint-Sulpice's location (between Notre-Dame Cathedral and the waterfront in the Old Port) is stupendous, as are its roomy all-suite setup and elegant French windows." - Isa Tousignant

Adjacent to the Notre-Dame Basilica and steps from the Old Port and the Place des Arts, this all-suite hotel is "a great place to stay for business—in-room Nespresso machines help to get the day off to a good start." We enjoyed our stay at Le Saint-Sulpice Montreal during late June. The room was clean when we arrived and housekeeping was consistently good. We liked the apartment-style room with its well stocked kitchenette, making it easy to make a quick meal. The room was thoughtfully designed with an enclosed section for the bed where doors can be shut to isolate it from the kitchenette/living area. We enjoyed little touches like the art they selected, the bedside lighting, and the built in closets available on each side of the bedroom. The location is excellent, and we enjoyed walking to different locations in the city. Valet: We did not experience any issues with the valet service. They advise that you notify the valet 20 minutes in advance of wanting to use your car, and they always had our car pulled up in the front of the hotel within 20 minutes. Heat/AC: We stayed in Montreal during an especially hot time period during late June (I believe it reached 90 F, or 32 C). The air conditioning worked wonderfully and cooled the room efficiently and quietly. Noise: As others noted, there is construction occurring near the hotel. During our stay, the construction did not block us from driving up the street and parking outside of the hotel. We did not hear any noise from the construction in our room, but our room was higher up (3rd floor) and further away from Saint-Paul St W.

Our favourite hotel in old port. Rooms are clean, rooms has a kitchenette and great room layout. Last year we got upgraded to a suite and the balcony was gorgeous! This time we had a smaller balcony and the view of the courtyard was beautiful as well. Staff are also super friendly!

This hotel didn’t quite live up to the expectations we had when booking. We were warned about construction nearby but my goodness it was far worse than we’d anticipated.||We arrived early evening to an unsmiling check in, told that the bar and restaurant were both closed due to a conference! Just what we needed! Didn’t even offer to take our bags up! Room was quite large with a kitchenette but the bedroom was SO dark! Couldn’t see to even unpack our things. Bathroom good but if you have had knee or hip replacement it is rather scary! Bath is very deep and it is very difficult to climb in and out due to a fixed shower screen. I could t even reach the taps! Anyway, it was management - just. Good sofa to relax in and to in lounge and bedroom.||Due to our ‘frosty’ welcome we didn’t even bother with the bar or restaurant - only saw 2 people in it during our 3 day stay. ||Oh dear, we had looked forward to staying here but we didn’t take to it unlike the 3 other hotels we have stayed in during our time in Canada. Perhaps a warmer welcome may well have helped!||I would add I do try to be fair in my reviews.

The best hotel experience ever! We felt special from the moment we walked in the door until we left the hotel by every associate of the hotel. Absolutely the best hotel in Montréal! The staff goes above and beyond to accommodate every need. The room was spectacular in every aspect. It exceeded our expectations.

Google
Excellent hotel in the heart of Old Montreal. Beautiful rooms with friendly staff. Customer service oriented team made our stay enjoyable. They were very accommodating. Besides the convenient location in Old Montreal (next to the Notre-Dame Basilica) and modern hotel, what really sets the place apart Is the fantastic restaurant and bar COUR ARRIERE. Do yourself a favour and include the breakfast option with your stay. The elevated menu at COUR ARRIERE is NOT your typical breakfast fare. During our week long stay, I had: the breakfast poutine, the flank steak, the eggs Benedict with truffle hollandaise sauce and the French toast with Chantilly cream, pistachios, maple syrup and Meringue! All these dishes were absolutely dynamite! Dynamite! Dynamite! *Note: my wife who is gluten allergic, unfortunately didn’t have the same type of experience I had. The restaurant is not as flexible on their fixed menu for individuals with food sensitivity.

Google
The three best things about the hotel were the location, the staff, and the cleanliness. Almost everything we planned to see or do in Montreal was within easy walking distance. While there was road construction on St Paul, it didn't affect our drive or our quiet nights' rest at all. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, graciously helping and completely resolving a little mix up about our car. They seemed to recognize us as we came and went and readily brought extra towels when asked. Our suite was huge, pristinely clean, and had a lot of nice amenities, including a kitchenette, that added to our stay.

Google
I don't travel a lot, but this was the nicest hotel and hotel room I've ever experienced. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean and very spacious room, and great location in Old Montreal! I went with my family and we all loved the fact that our room had doors to close of half of the suite. Great for families and privacy. We had 2 TVs, tons of storage, a shower and bathtub, a kitchen with just about everything you need, and a window that opened to a lovely terrace below. All of this for a great deal too! Would highly recommend!

Google
Hotel in old Montreal in the same block as Notre Dame. Our trip started with a challenge to get to it on a Saturday, as streets nearby were closed for summer festival/festivities on top of numerous illogically oriented streets (one ways become the reverse direction one-ways for no logical reason). Hotel is clean. We were told rooms were renovated a year ago. The overall room quality was very good. Bathrooms were spacious and clean. Noise level could be an issue, as we faced the road, people partied into the night, and the windows (which otherwise are great) don't block out the noise super well. The included breakfast is another strong point with excellent quality breakfast meals available (separate review).

Yelp
Very nice boutique hotel! We enjoyed our stay. The room was very spacious and the bathrooms are breathtaking. Also loved the faux balcony which allowed you to open the Window for lots of fresh air.

Yelp
Located right next to the Balica Notre Dame, it's in the middle of all these great shops and restaurants. Rooms were a good size, we had a room with a living space. The staff is helpful, friendly and really made our stay pleasant. The breakfast and drinks is a must at the hotel! All the items on breakfast menu is delicious. The breakfast crew also made great suggestions on things to do. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is my favorite hotel in Montréal; located in the heart of old port with great access to lots of dining and shopping options. They really care about providing top notch service and the staff make sure to accommodate their guests needs in a timely fashion. They have recently started renovating the hotel; rooms, restaurant & bar, event halls and lobby. And I believe they have done a great job so far. The rooms are spacious and very quiet. The garden view rooms provide a great view. Everything you need is either provided in the room or you can ask and it will be available in a short time. One of the great initiatives they have is to make a donation for every bight you don't request change of towels, which I believe it's a positive step towards helping the environment.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were in Montréal for a few nights and chose to stay at Le Saint-Sulpice because of the location. Check-in was smooth, as the desk clerks speak both English and French. Our second-floor room was spacious and beautiful, with a small balcony (not much of a view, but we didn't spend much time in the room anyway). I also liked that there were two carafes for water (there is an ice machine that also dispenses water near the elevators) in the room, an environmentally friendly touch I appreciated. My only complaint is that the bedroom doesn't have enough lighting. The only illumination comes from two lamps on the headboard. It's nice when you're trying to sleep but not so much when you're trying to get dressed. I really loved my visit to Montréal and would happily come back and stay again at Le Saint-Sulpice. If I do, my French will hopefully be much improved.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, including the concierge- and efficient valet parking. Great location, and large, comfortable rooms. Within walking distance to all Old Montreal sites, restaurants and attractions. The one thing they must do, however, is not allow their inner courtyard to be used for loud bands or DJs. It ruins the peace and tranquility for all guest whose rooms face the courtyard. Parties are ok. But no loud music, please. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Yelp
The hotel has very expensive parking rates, which we didn't know in advance. They also had terrible client service. We needed the sheets on one of the hotel room beds changed and we asked twice for assistance. We were told both times that we would get help straight away and it never, ever came. The restaurant is also almost never open for lunch and dinner. Also, they offered to charge our EV overnight before we left for home. We gratefully accepted, but they brought our car back without having charged it. Saying one thing, doing another, and charging through the nose to do it. I won't be staying here again, which is a shame because we had such a good experience here a number of years prior and its location is excellent. Too bad.

Yelp
Everything I could hope for. I decided to book a trip for my mother and I for MOther's Day weekend. We decided on a 6 day trip to Montreal and I chose this hotel from reviews and their ideal location. Walking distance to so many things; from Notre Dame to the boardwalk pier area. The staff at Le Saint-Sulpice were nothing short of amazing. Our room was lovely and it came with all the amentities I was seeking. We had maid service and she left such a sweet note. Overall, I would recommend this place. They made us feel like a million dollars. Such wonderful hospitality. A huge "THANK YOU" to Daniel, Paolo and Khajoosta for their welcoming demeanor and for making our trip extra special.

Leila J.

Yelp
The location for this boutique hotel is unbeatable. Right in the heart of old Montreal. The service from the staff is five star. They upgraded our room upon arrival, which was a very nice surprise. We received a box of chocolates in the room. The toiletries were from L'Occitane, a high-end French beauty company. Very happy!

Yelp
I would book a different hotel next time I'm in Montreal. Le Crystal to be close to St. Catherine where there is a lot of food and shopping options, or the Nelligan or Place d'Arms for a better looking hotel. Somehow the fixtures in this hotel just seem flimsy. The electric kettle is flimsy, the bed sheets are flimsy, the robes are not flimsy but super scratchy. We booked a suite with a balcony and got a room on the first floor that opens to the court yard. There is also a public street right in front of the "balcony" door so anyone can see into your room. We were here celebrating a birthday and we got a small square of chocolate (the type you get from turndown service) from management wishing us a happy birthday. However, if you have a pet, the room we had (123) would be perfect. A pup will be able to go right outside to the courtyard. My doggies would have loved this place. Service is also pretty good in general.

Yelp
Such a warm and welcoming hotel in old Montreal. From the moment we pulled up in front of the hotel we were excited for the stay. The staff was warm and welcoming, the valets were on top of it - even though it is in a very busy area, and the rooms and view were lovely. And rooms are larger than usual with a real bedroom that can be closed off. Really enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
We recently spent one night and really were impressed with this fine hotel. Immaculate immense room with couch and nice kitchen area. Great great location in the heart of old Montreal. We could have spent many more nights here.

Yelp
All the things you want in a no-hassle and pleasant stay, this hotel offers that: quaint, clean, full amenities, helpful front desk and bell service, and spacious rooms. Hotel is located in a convenient and lovely area of the city. Entrance to the building is inviting and open-front desk and concierge located on the right part of the hotel. Bar/restaurant is a just tad further down and lots of signs and people to help you navigate around. I enjoyed the nespresso machine in the room and appreciated the bottled water I received from the front desk. I didn't realize there is a mini kitchen with stove/fridge/dishes in the room-I didn't use it but it's great if you have a family or want to reheat any leftovers or food. Bathroom is modern and clean with a nice shower. I'd stay here again.
google avatar

Tory C.

Yelp
Checked in the hotel only to find out there was no running water due to a busted pipe. Although, the hotel staff knew there was no running water they failed to inform the guest. Imagine how exhausted I was after flying on a plane all day and I can't even use the bathroom in my expensive hotel room. I promptly ask to speak with a hotel manager and was given excuses and offered a small bottle of water. I asked her where could I use the bathroom? She said "another hotel in the area." I understand unexpected events happen, however the hotel staff is lacking in customer service and professionalism. Not informing guests upon check-in that there's no running water or offering alternatives is unacceptable. The hotel could've at least had water delivered to the rooms for hand washing. We are still in an pandemic!!!!

Heidi C.

Yelp
From the moment we walked in to the moment the valet put is in a cab to the airport, we had a wonderful experience at Le Saint-Sulpice Hotel. The room was spacious and clean. The in room kitchenette was wonderful and I loved the nespresso machine. Antoine the concierge helped us find our way via the metro to a neighborhood maple syrup festival and showed us where to find a small market for sodas and waters. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
Our king room was very roomy and well equipped with small kitchen and work space. The bathroom was just okay. It was cold with no heat. This is important because I was there in winter. I suggest they put in a heat lamp or radiant heat in the floors. It would really help. Otherwise service was great and friendly, especially the night crew.
google avatar

Yelp
The Saint-Sulpice is fantastically located. We used their valet parking which was very easy both to drop the car off and to retrieve. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive. The room we had was very spacious and well equipped with a kitchenette which is great in Montreal because there are so many culinary delights that are great to bring back to the room for snacks, breakfast or lunch. Save room for dinner out in Montreal, there are so many fantastic restaurants to choose from. The only reason they lose a star is basic room maintenance. The walls shouldn't be banged up, the washroom needed a refresh. I am always surprised higher end hotels don't have a maintenance person just go room to room and give it an inspection for small jobs that can be quickly done. i.e. broken light switch covers, paint drops on the washroom floor, poorly patched walls etc. I know I'm being picky, but in comparison for one third of what we paid at Le Saint-Sulpice we stayed in Pointe Clare at a Comfort Inn and it was flawless. Just sayin'!

Yelp
Wonderful! Very continental. Well appointed. Situated on a quite street within walking distance of the cruise docks, historic Montreal and shops. The bed was soooo comfortable right brain slept in! We are planning on coming again and will most likely stay here. Great restaurant too. They squeezed us in as a wedding was taking place, merci! See you next time Sulpice

Yelp
This high-end, all-suite hotel is adjacent to the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal, and a 6-minute walk from both the Vieux-Port and Place-d'Armes Metro station. The elegant suites include living rooms and kitchenettes, and some have views of Notre-Dame. All come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, iPod docks and Nespresso machines. Upgraded suites add fireplaces and/or balconies, while some have private rooftop terraces. Large windows in this all suite hotel fly open to the cobblestone Rue Saint-Sulpice, and a a lovely throughway park across the street. Amenities include a lobby bar and a quiet courtyard garden, plus meeting facilities. Guests receive free passes to a nearby gym.

Yelp
This hotel is really nice and would normally be a five star but I literally could not shake the fact that my pillow smelled like fart. Sorry for being crude but there was a distinct smell on my pillow.

Yelp
Stayed here for a conference and had a great time! The staff is super knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient and the modernized rooms are large and super clean! I also enjoyed the catering and the location was excellent when I felt like venturing out to get a drink or try something new to eat. Another plus is it's very close to the bike trail and shopping! No pool or play areas so it probably won't be the best for kids. More suited for a romantic getaway in Montreal
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
Super clean and excellent location around the corner from Notre Dame and less than a half a block from Rue Saint Paul, the Main Street in old Montreal. Service was also very friendly. Valet price was reasonable. I deducted a star because the mattress and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. The sides of the mattress offered no support. They had too much give. Maybe this was because the mattress was on a Murphy bed instead of a regular box spring? Pillows were lumpy.
google avatar

Yelp
Again, shocked that this hotel doesn't have 4.5 stars on here. We found the hotel to be just perfect. Perfect location, beautifully sized (and laid out) rooms, lovely staff. We'll have to give a special mention to Eimie at the Concierge - who is a shining human being. Honestly, the stay would have been worth it for meeting her alone. This was our first trip to montreal but I don't think you could ask for a better location, being that this hotel is a stone's throw from Notre Dame. We booked one of the suites so I'm not sure how the other rooms are but the suite was perfect, equipped with a full kitchen, and felt like a cozy small apartment. We loved our stay here.

Yelp
After staying in a boutique hotel like the Saint Sulpice, it's hard to ever imagine staying in a Hilton/Marriot/Chain ever again! From the moment the valet took our car to the multitude of questions we asked during our stay, to genuinely polite service at every turn, this hotel made our visit to Montreal feel like home--with a maid, butler and ever-knowledgeable concierge. A word about the concierge. Being a yelper and a somewhat anal do-it-myself planning kind of person, I've never really utilized the help of the concierge during my vacations. I plan things myself and I find things to do on my own by conducting some pre-trip research. My boyfriend insisted that we "play it by ear" (a scary prospect) and so I did not look anything up. We simply asked the concierge for recommendations...and they were spot on every time!! They recommended dance clubs, fancy dinners and more casual local places for us to eat. They helped us plan our day of walking around, told us where all the touristy shopping was, as well as all of the cool townie shops. They greeted us with a big smile every time and always asked us how our day had been. The entire hotel is impeccably clean and smells delicious (like someone is constantly baking pie or mulling fresh cider). Our room was enormous! Bigger than most of my friend apartments in the city, the bedroom was separate from the living area, which had a flat-screen TV, a comfy couch, a desk (that we did not use once!) and a fire place! Though it was too cold to use it, there was also a balcony. The bathroom was huge! All tiled marble, with a separate tub (big enough for two) and shower (big enough for four--if you're into that kind of thing) and stocked with L'Occitane products...you can always tell how nice a hotel is by the products with which they stock their bathroom! Right in the heart of Old Montreal, we were surrounded by little shops, cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture in quiet, peaceful neighborhood. We were withing minutes of Rue St. Catherine, the waterfront and public transportation (which we did not use, but always good know). Return trips to Montreal will lead me right back to Le Saint Sulpice...with all of the amenities, amazing staff and location, I've no reason to look anywhere else!

Yelp
I loved Montreal but this well regarded boutique hotel disappoints, especially for the high price point. The room was spacious but cheap looking cabinets, an electric fireplace that didn't work and the lighting and esthetics were questionable. The television wasn't in line with the bed so uncomfortably positioned. The shower had no place to put the soap and shampoo so you had to lean out to the sink vanity to put down the soap! The glass shower enclosure went only one third of the way causing the bathroom floor to get soaked each time. The hotel lobby is small with very limited seating. The hotel bar was practically non existent with not even a single bar stool. The emphasis was on convention guests and event guests and when we bought a drink, the few tables had reserved signs for some corporate entity and we told them we were hotel guests and a manager had to give us permission to sit. I'm fine staying at a clean less expensive hotel with limited amenities for the experience that this provided.

Yelp
Great location in Old Town Montreal. We were on a cruise, off and actually walked with our luggage to the hotel. We were hoping that they would hold it until checkin time. They did one better. They upgraded us to a beautiful suite with a terrace that was all ready. It had a great view of the city. The staff was courteous and friendly. The bar was excellent and also where I got coffee the next morning. I'm never good at using the in room coffee makers. Great turndown service. Excellent all around. We'll definitely put this on our list of Montreal hotels.

Yelp
This is a wonderful hotel in Old Montreal and located just right next to the Notre Dame Basilica. You're just half a block away from Rue St Paul where the restaurants and galleries are. Pluses: 1) Toiletries are L'Occitane! :) 2) All rooms are suites 3) Related to the point above, each room comes with at least a kitchenette (Tip: Walk to nearby Le Petit Dep which is an absolutely cute French-Canadian grocery-cum-coffee shop, get pastries and coffee, and enjoy it back at the hotel) The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that there were some signs of normal wear and tear in the hotel. When we left the hotel with our suitcase, the bellboy stood by the door and saw us leaving with our suitcases but did not attempt to assist even if it was just holding the door for us. These are items for management to improve. But other than that I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Yelp
Highly recommend this well located, high-touch, great hotel. Excellent location - just steps away from the Basilica de Notre Dame and in the other direction, from the main street in the old town, Rue St. Paul (restaurants, shops, galleries, watefront). About four blocks from an easy to access Metro that will get you anywhere you want to go. Very chic, peaceful and great attention to detail. Wonderful staff, attentive concierge, and always great smelling and looking candles burning. Our large suite had a murphy bed and a pull out couch (perfect for the kids) a small kitchen with fridge, dishes, espresso maker (great espresso), stove, a couch, two flat screen tvs and french doors that opened onto a view of a nice back patio. The lobby has one computer with a printer and a nice looking bar and comfortable couches to lounge in. Excellent hotel...reasonable price for what you get...highly recommend.

Yelp
This was our second trip to Montreal this year. In June, we got a really good rate at the Intercontinental for a one night stop over. This time we were spending the weekend. We wanted something centrally located in the Port, and this fit the bill. It is a cute, boutique hotel, and had easy access to everything we wanted to do. Staff was super friendly and helpful, very approachable and kind. Room was clean, well appointed. I loved the couch and the kitchenette complete with stove and pots and pans. I'm not sure why anyone would want to do their own cooking with so many amazing places to eat, but, if you go to Jean-Talon market and pick up some beautiful things your morning breakfast would be great (but the crepe store the block was great...) We loved the exposed rock walls from the building next door that were throughout the building, reminding us of the position close to the cathedral and the long history of these buildings in Montreal. Other people here have complained about the Murphy Beds that the rooms have, but we both slept perfectly those two nights. Maybe we were super wiped out from all the fun we had. Tons of pillows, and the robes were a great touch too. My only real issues were: In the fridge in the room there were creamers for coffee. I had to pay for coffee downstairs (thought it would be complimentary for hotel guests but I guess not), and when I got upstairs I realized I had forgotten cream so I used one from the fridge. It came out like a lump of butter. I informed the front desk... luckily, the crepe store waiter made up for the lack of coffee Friday morning. Another issue was the darkness. The room was so incredibly dark, that moving around at night to go to the bathroom was a challenge and I had to use the flashlight on my phone. We tried to keep the bathroom light on and allow the frosted glass that faced into the room to provide light but that was too incredibly bright. A nice, simple nightlight in the bathroom would have been super helpful. I agree with the woman who complained about the fragrance in the lobby - while very pretty, it is a little overwhelming. Also, the shampoo and soap are super fragrant so if you have allergies you'll want to avoid those and pack your own unscented personal hygiene products. All told - this was a darling spot. I greatly enjoyed it.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing. I can't get over how great everything about it is. The staff they have working there is phenomenal, from the bell hops, to the front desk, to the maids. I stayed for business for 3 days 2 nights, the staff made some great recommendations on where to eat (Poutineville) and even walked down the street with me a few blocks to guide me to a restaurant within walking distance!!! The rooms are awesome, very spacious and open, and the beds come with body pillows (nice little touch). My bathroom had both a bathtub and shower. The free Wi-Fi worked great too, I was not slowed down when I did have to do some work in the hotel room. Room service was very friendly and the food was tasty. (That Montreal yogurt is out of this world...). All in all, it's in a great location, with a great staff, and a great vibe. Get in or get out.

Yelp
Very nice hotel, great location. Clean modern rooms with helpful staff. Small quaint bar area. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
After staying at another property a km away, this hotel was a pretty nice upgrade. Located just behind Notre Dame Cathedral in Old Montreal, this semi-boutique caters towards luxury clientele but is also good for families. I got a 1st floor deluxe suite for my birthday and it was stunning. 20 ft ceilings over about 800 sq ft and patio to courtyard. The suite has a full kitchenette complete with stovetop, microwave, mini fridge, pots & pans, dishwater and a full set of silverware! The living area has a large couch will folds out into a queen sized bed, which is done by the turndown service after 1700. The queen bed in the bedroom is very plush and the sofa queen is semi firm. Service is commendable, there's always someone to open the doors or valet your car, same cannot be said about other hotels. Babysitting service is also available upon request. I highly recommend this hotel for groups or families and will look to stay here again, the next time I'm in MTL.

Yelp
We stayed here in late October while my husband attended a conference. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond my expectations. The rooms were beautiful, modern and clean. The all-suite setup is great; it made our week-long stay with two babies under the age of two much easier. The hotel is right in the heart of Old Montreal adjacent to Notre Dame cathedral and a stones throw from shopping, dining and souvenir shops. Also, the caleches (carriage ride tours) start their loop right in front of the cathedral. The concierge service is superb! They recommended local restaurants where we could done with our two infants and even local spots that would deliver. They also helped us with arranging a trip to the biodome and taxi service. Alain was extra helpful on our last day. I had checked out and the valet was holding our bags, while I walked our children around the neighborhood and my husband finished up at his conference. We received word that our flights home had been cancelled! I came back to the hotel and the concierge Alain gave me a list of local car rental agencies and helped me call them. He actually found one that had car seats and U.S. drop off for $100 less than the ones I called. He took the stress out of this last-minute hiccup in our plans. I don't know when we will return to Montreal but when we do, we will definitely stay at Le Saint Suplice Hotel.

Yelp
First time in Montreal in 20 years, and first time staying at the Saint-Sulpice. It was lovely. They were accommodating, flexible, helpful beyond compare, and kind. Our room faced the street and was nicely quiet on floor 3. We ate at the restaurant once and it was delicious for lunch. Had MANY cappuccinos from the restaurant and they were perfection. Attended a conference in the downstairs conference room and it was great. Quiet, well-appointed. The clock decor was interesting because of the 8 clocks on the wall, all set with different, seemingly random times, only one was running and it would match up now and again with another one... pretty funny. Great staff and location and building and all. Well done.

Yelp
What a great hotel. My wife found and booked this place through Expedia on a whim. While we got lucky, since you are reading this, stop and go book your stay now! Now that you have booked your stay, get ready for a beautiful boutique hotel. Located in Old Montreal, it's about a block away from the Notre Dame Basilica and a couple blocks from the water. It's an old building, but our room was large and tastefully updated. The beds comfortable, an Espresso Maker in the room, along with a mini fridge and single hob stove. While there are plenty of great restaurants around, The Sinclair is located in the lobby. We ate off the 'bar menu' one evening and the food was delicious. While I loved the location, the building and the furnishings, the service put this place over the top. First off, everyone we dealt with was very helpful and very friendly. The icing on the cake here though was during check in. Our original check in date had to be delayed due to Winter Storm Stella. Flights were cancelled and we did not arrive until the following day. Without us asking, the gentleman who checked us in indicated that he would be reaching out to Expedia on our behalf to ensure we were not charged for the previous nights stay. Who does that anymore?!?!? What a great place!

Yelp
My family and I stayed here for 3 nights on a trip to Montreal in April last year, and our experience was great! The boutique hotel is gorgeously decorated and has an ambience that blends modernism with the traditional culture of Montreal's Old Town district. We didn't have a change to try out the restaurant in the hotel, but it's located in a part of town with a plethora of nice bakeries, the cathedral square, and some beautiful cobblestone streets that remind me of my trips to Europe. The staff here is also helpful and very knowledgeable!

Yelp
Nice hotel - spacious rooms, clean and good customer service. A couple of important things to note: (1) the two bed suites are not actually two beds - it's one bed and one pullout sofa. We ended up having to get a second room for our tall teenagers, but the hotel was very accommodating as far as giving us a discount on the second room (2) the white marble (or fake white marble) bathroom floor is a death trap if it gets wet. You cannot see that it is wet and a terrible fall is imminent. I cracked my head on the corner of the wall and one week later it is still painful. I am sure I am not the first nor the last to fall in one of the bathrooms at this hotel. Other than those two issues, it is a fine hotel.

Yelp
Very nice hotel within walking distance of many restaurants, shopping and historic attractions, plus the waterfront fireworks and public transit. The room, 310, was the largest on the floor with fully appointed for cooking kitchenette (no oven but had cooktop and microwave plus cooking gear and plates, silverware), nespresso coffee maker and tea pot. Everyone was very friendly, especially the front desk and bell staffers. Concierge answered our request for recommendations but very tardy and we had already left home so we couldn't review and make reservations. The on-site restaurant was good with nice variety on menu and nice servers. Bar wasn't exceptional and had seating but not comfortable layout, more like a waiting room. The bartender made a drink to go then another staff person took it and poured it into a different shape glass right in front of us. It didn't make the drink taste better :( and since it was almost 97 degrees we needed the hydration!) There is a beautiful and large outdoor eating terrace in the inner courtyard - although the unusual heat wave kept us indoors. Lobby is best described as functional with office-like chairs lined up against the window and wall. But this was a good space to marshall the family and converse with friendly staffers. Valet parking is useful since there was crazy traffic. Hotel is quiet though. Try to get an interior room for the view of the terrace. Room had beautiful leafy terrace with table and chairs and great interior drapes to block the sun for a cooling nap. AC was amazing! Would give 5 stars but the sofa bed mattress was very uncomfortable and needs to be replaced. The bathroom definitely needs more lighting as it resembles a spacious cave. Water pressure was great and shower was very large with nice handheld. Nice L'Occitaine citrus toiletries on hand.

Yelp
A lovely hotel in an ideal location. A couple of problems marred the perfection, though. 1) The bed in our room was a Murphy-style bed that could fold into the wall. Ideal for business meetings, not so ideal for us on our romantic child-free getaway. The mattress was like a futon to sleep on, really hard and uncomfortable. 2) The "free wi-fi" in the room did not work well at all, and the business center had only ONE computer, which meant that there was nearly always a wait for me to get on and see what Yelpers recommended. On the plus side, the complimentary breakfast buffet was great, I had croissants and brie every morning. Some of the desk staff was helpful, others either knew nothing or spoke little English.

Yelp
Perfect location in Vieux Montreal. Wonderfully attentive bi-lingual service. Amazingly large rooms. A shower with water pressure forceful enough to blow you clear across the bathroom. In room kitchenette with Nespresso coffee makers. Free wifi. Dog-friendly. It's all here at Le Saint-Sulpice wrapped up in a tastefully decorated skin. The place even smells lovely with the subtle scents of L'Occitane wafting across the air. This was my second stay here, and I'll be back. Sans doute!

Yelp
The hotel itself is lovely and charming and renovated in that "old hotel in the Paris 6th arrondisement kind of way." We paid extra for a premium suite with balcony and our windows were facing the back of the hotel, over the restaurant courtyard so we did not have any problems with noise. Suite was roomy, very clean and comfortable. It was lovely to sit on the balcony having breakfast until we started getting inundated by wasps -- there is a nest nearby and we noticed the beginning/remnants of a wasps nest on the ceiling above the balcony. But the wasps only came out if there was food. It was large and comfortable for us and the dog and we even got a small bag of gourmet chocolates, which were delicious. The dog fee is really for cleaning as we got no typical higher end amenities such as a dog dish and clean dog bed. But we got a treat bag of milkbone biscuits which was a nice gesture (though we would not feed those to him, meat-by-products, BPA chemicals, etc). Ordered room service and it came in a timely manner but coffee was in cups, not a pot and nothing was covered so it was all cool-lukewarm by the time it got to our room and the portions were small for the cost. Area is safe and the front desk staff were very cordial and the bellhop/valet front desk staff superior. Not up to say Kimpton standards despite the price, but a positive stay overall.

Yelp
The hotel is more 3.5 stars than 4. The hotel is easy to get to. It's right in the heart of Old Montreal and close to the Notre Dame, Metro and 10 minutes from the affordable airport bus. Checking in and out was a breeze and service was courteous. Rooms are spacious, large and well equipped. The room is large enough that the bed is sectioned off into its own area. There's not one, but two LCD TV's incase you want to watch in bed or in the main area. In addition to the usual hotel amenities, there was a Nespresso machine with 3 pods and a Bodum electric kettle. There was even a mini kitchen with two burners, pots, pans and dishes. Decor was classy - the pictures speak for themselves. Now on to a few things that weren't so great. For starters, we were staying on the 1st floor and faced the courtyard restaurant. The sheers weren't opaque enough such that anyone could stare into our rooms if the curtains were open - so the curtains stayed closed. Second, the bass from the music blaring in the courtyard was enough to cause an annoying enough thump thump thump. Fortunately, the music is turned off at night, but it's on for most of the day. Finally, I found that the water pressure in the shower was lacking.

Yelp
- Room was dingy, oddly laid out, with a tiny, dirty bathroom. - Giant cart of dirty towels sat outside out room from check-in until 11pm or so, even after we asked for the removal of them. - Front entrance and bar reek of some sort of cheap scent. Anyone with allergies should avoid. - Bartender did not know basic drinks, like an old-fashioned. - We had room service for dinner and breakfast - very slow, presentation was not on par with a "luxury" experience in ANY way. Very very sub par experience. - Extremely noisy from the street outside all night - until about 4am.

Yelp
Could not have asked for a better hotel experience. This hotel is in a perfect location, within steps to St. Paul street where there are tons of restaurants, cafe's and bars. It's also walking distance one of the entrances which leads to the miles long underground mall. The staff was exceptional and was as to check us in two hours early as well as give some great recommendations of places to go. They were also great about having the car ready for us at a moments notice. The room was perfect. Clean, spacious, large windows and the perfect set up for two people to sleep in separate rooms. They came to the room rag night at 9pm to turn down the sofa bed and were as polite as could be when asking what time they should come. Being that I shared the room with a buddy, this set up was perfect. The rooms have a lot of character them and aren't your typical W type rooms. They're just as elegant, but in a more interesting way. Old mixed with new, and done perfectly. The bar in the hotel was also an awesome experience. The manager stopped by to strike up convo with me and the guys. Gave us great recommendations of places to go and even wrote down directions for us. Excellent experience at this place, they nailed it.

Yelp
Phenomenal staff. Very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. Accommodations we ok. Rooms were very tight. Bed couch was very uncomfortable. Sheets and pillows could have been better but the location and staff made up for those things.

Yelp
Stayed here for Spring break with our kids. I was not aware they were under renovation which normally would not be an issue. The banging noise of the construction at 7am every morning however I must take issue with. I even called the front desk after the second morning because I couldn't stand it any longer. I can hear the men speaking through the wall of our room and every bang of the hammer. Be aware if you plan on staying here anytime soon. You will not be able to sleep in.

Yelp
I like this place. The "SS" is a boutique hotel in Old Montreal right around the corner from Notre Dame Cathedral. The location is particularly good for tourists (business travelers might prefer something slightly more central). Services and amenities are very nicely considered. Decor is a nice mix of old world charm with contemporary flair. I particularly like the way most units are suite-like, offering minimal kitchen facilities and separate bedrooms. Units with fireplaces are especially nice during cold Montreal winters. The lobby smells like apples-and-heaven (how do they do that?) and often sees guests drinking wine in front of the cozy fire. The gym facility is well-considered with a a nice mix of cardio equipment, free weights and a few basic machines (with 24-hour access). There is a small business centre and free wi-fi. The restaurant is pleasant and would be a great place for cocktailing, and room service is accommodating (humouring my requests for health conscious entrees even while recommending great wine). Potential demerits - interior bedrooms in the suites may seem small, and we had some loud-ish street noise that I expect would be worse in summer months. Concierge did well with restaurant recommendations and staff was always on hand to offer guidance re: local attractions, general directions. If you prefer a boutique hotel to one of the major chains, this is a great option. I'm a Four Seasons girl, and the SS did OK for me.

Yelp
Oh. My. Goodness. After our first visit to the wonderful Saint Sulpice in February of 2008, we had to return in March of 2009. This delicious boutique hotel lives along Rue Saint Sulpice, right down the street from Notre-Damn. When you walk into the lobby it smells of wonderful L'Occitane lotions and soaps (which they provide you with in your beautiful hotel room). Truly, I can't say enough good things about this place. The 'S' Restaurant is amazing from the food to the wine. It was here that my boyfriend and I discovered Torbreck Juveniles wine ... oh so good. They also had a complimentary breakfast bar every morning and they had a large selection to choose from. I cant wait to go back!!!!

Yelp
Great boutique hotel in Old Montreal. Today (June 25) is a provincial holiday and looks like we are in the a great location for the festivities. The hotel has large rooms, suites actually, with 2 true HD TV's, comfortable beds and a great restaurant.

Yelp
Spacious rooms, very clean and modern and easy to find. The maid service came twice a day to clean which was more than she needed to! No complaints highly recommend
