15 Best Sugar Shacks (or Cabanes à Sucre) Near Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Offering one of the most soigné sugar shack experiences near Montreal, this Brome-Missisquoi vineyard and distillery producing award-winning wines, gins, and eau de vies is serving its sugar shack menu until May 1. Dishes are far from typical here, going from a “maple nugget waffle” with whipped cream, smoked beet, and sea buckthorn, to an île flottante dessert paired with an eau de vie-infused English cream. Prices range from $35 to $56 per adult depending on time and day of the week, while kids are $22 or $30." - JP Karwacki

11 Best Wineries Outside of Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Found at an altitude of almost 300 metres, Le Vignoble du Ruisseau uses geothermal technology to maintain temperatures through the coldest months of the year. Moreover, its systematic approach to harvesting grapes allows it to produce a wide range of products including chardonnay, riesling, pinot noir, merlot, and more." - Daniel Bromberg

Beautiful modern winery. Lots of place in and out to sit. Wines, cocktails & spirits available including a yummy coffee liquor and a selection of products involving maple syrup!

A very fun, relaxing hang at a beautiful spot. Wine tasting options were relaxing and enjoyable on a rainy day.

A different way of experiencing the sugar shack. A beautiful winery with a gourmet tasting menu that maintains the essence of the typical traditions of the sugar shack. The whole menu is creatively served and super tasty. The salted caramel sauce made with maple is DELICIOUS. The boutique is also super nice and you can Vita really good wine. The place has several spaces to stay and share with your partner or family and enjoy the scenery.

*** EDIT The review below is second experience in October 2024: This is was second trip to this winery. First one was positive experience. Two years later, and total disappointment. With first wine tasting you get wine for tasting and for extra charge can get a little bot with some cheese and meat. This time nothing. If you want, go buy what you want from the fridge in the boutique, they will cut it for you if you want and "enjoy". Like seriously? From a high quality service to drop to a convenience store? The same with the wine. One of them (don't remember the name) we couldn't drink. The girls at the bar didn't make an effort to ask us if we did like the wine. :) I'm coming here in summer one more time just to make sure it wasn't a bad dream and this location still offers a high quality service. If that happens one more time I will drop the review to 1 star maximum. The review below is first experience 2 years ago: An awesome place to taste the wine or some cocktails. But, you must be prepared. If you are traveling in the area and decided to make a stop, then you will get basic. If you want to come to this place to eat or have a small chat with your friends/family then book your place are the restaurant. There are many other stuff you must study about this place or call them to get a shot help, otherwise you will get lost :) . In other words you will get the best of the best if you book your trip to this winery

Amazing! While I've been a couple times before for the bistro and tastings, this time we did the 'le prestige' tour. Our guide was so knowledgable, very approachable, and made the tour feel so much fun. We were able to take the time to taste and enjoy in a beautiful setting. Tasting from the barrels and seeing where the wine was bottled was also a unique experience. Then we finished at the bistro, with a great table overlooking the vineyard, while eating items that had come from their own garden and farm. You can really appreciate the thought they've taken with their winery to make themselves sustainable and minimize their environmental footprint. A perfect day.

AVOID…complete waste of your $. Was charged 79$ per person for a “Gourmet Cabane a Sucre” for a party of 10 on March 23rd. Some people drove over two hours in the storm from Montreal, some guests drove 4 hrs from the states, to be given: TERRIBLE SERVICE, very poor “Gourmet” food. We were reprimanded for asking for “cream” for our cold coffee.. and served small portions on all dishes…RIPPED OFF…we are soooo upset!! On TOP OF THIS, the waitress took the maple syrup allocated for our table to give to another table…..WTH! Was even told by a RUDE MANAGER to split a small maple palm tart in half to share for two people, are you KIDDING ME??!!! In addition, we were served burned bread (4 PCs cut in half) for a party of 10, not once….TWICE!! We were told the restaurant is under new ownership and that the food is what it is! Oh yes, forgot to add….there was no hot water nor heating in the bathrooms! A COMPLETE rip off! Soooo disappointed! To top it off, 4 out of 10 were sick the next day with DIARRHEA. Nor I or any of my friends (some lawyers and engineers), will ever go and spend $1 in Le Vignoble du Ruisseau in Dunham, EVER AGAIN! :(

Yelp
First time ever trying out a tasting wine event.. I randomly found this place on Instagram and after doing some research I figured this place is worth the try! When you go on their website they have different packages from what you can choose from. We ended up doing a private tour with wine tasting & a little snack to taste from the kitchen.. What I love about this location is that it's nearly 2 hours away from our place now I dont know about you but I live for mini roadtrip! And anything that's out of "montreal" is a win for me! Theres just something so great about driving into the ever greens! So ofcourse from the moment we got there it was POURING rain! But that didn't stop the tour! We ended up taking a golf kart to go through the vineyard.. it was so nice because they gave us a cozy blanket to cover ourselves with .. very sweet! The guy who gave us the tour was so sweet and knowledgeable he gave us some really great info and honestly just made me appreciate wine even that more! Once we finished with the vineyards we headed back to a tour of the behind the scenes.. it was really cool to see everything from A to Z .. we then headed to the diner area for our tasting & snacks .. he then offered some more fun knowledge about the wines and we understood it better because of the tour he had just given us. Plus prior to starting this they bring you to a room to a watch a mini 10 minute clip about the wines and preview and that came with a delicious glass of wine. And just before heading out they have this beautiful boutique with all sorts of fun things we got some wine , maple sugar etc.. One thing that really stuck with me was how well maintained the place was. Very very clean and the design and decor of this place just seals it all together. It's a family owned business & we got to meet one of them! Apparently they also have a sugar shack so I'll definitely have to go back there to try it out. Their story behind this phenomenal vineyard is amazing and one of the only ones in Quebec to be producing wines like this.. you'll just have to take the tour to find out more! :) or Google.. your choice

Yelp
They improved a lot in the last years! The wine is great mostly, the 2020 vintage and their white wine.

Yelp
This place was amazing. The decor was extremely pretty, the waitress was very nice and the food was delicious. By far the best Cabane a Sucre food I've ever had. I went with 3 of my friends and we had the 6-course meal and we were stuffed to the max and basically had to roll out of the dining room at the end of the night. The 3-course meal would have been enough to make us happy I think. I definitely recommend this place even if it is just to check out the building and little gift shop they have. Its definitely worth the ride up the windy little dirt road.

Yelp

Yelp
There was an ad in the newspaper for this winery, so my GF and I thought we would "try it out" on one of our Canadian foodie days. (We live in northern Vermont.) we had to use the GPS to get there, as it was way off the beaten path, and we passed multiple other wineries on our way there. So we wondered if we should have stopped at the ones that were easier to access, and sang Deliverance-style dueling banjos to each other as we took turn after turn on gravel roads. But it was so worth it! It looks brand new, and super-swanky. You walk across a modern pedestrian covered bridge to get from the parking lot to the winery, and the building in front of you are modern and tastefully done. Of the main building, the ground level is for standing at the bar and tasting. Go up the stairs for a sit-down experience: in essence, for a more relaxed time, with the possibility to sample food-wine pairings. The view of the GREAT OUTDOORS was amazing and relaxing. So the wine is great. Our favorite was the Chardonnay (hers) and the Pinot Noir (mine). I have the feeling that they use fewer of those tricks commonly used to make vintages more consistent year-to-year. I bought a bottle of each ($27 for the first and $23 for the second). The service, while earnest, had some hiccups. There was a large, loud bachelorette party that came in, so maybe they were dealing with that group. Thank god they sat inside, bc when we went in to pay our bill, they were already obnoxious. The food chosen to pair with each wine was delicate (small but meticulous) and complemented the wine well. The menu was a little complicated, so I would ask questions. We were confused even after we ordered about what exactly we would be getting. We each got the five-wine tasting "Complement," which include two whites, one sparkling, one rosé, and a red. They speak English, as in most every merchant in Quebec. It can be halting and accented at times, but that adds to the charm. All in all, I highly recommend it.

Yelp
EVENT PLANNERS BEWARE! Charged for more wine than we consumed and appalling service. Very attractive venue, probably fine for tourists to taste their very mediocre wine and buy Quebec local delicacies. But a total disaster for a group lunch planned for 45 sophisticated international guests. They substituted several of the Quebec cheeses on our contract with cheaper alternatives, without informing us in advance. Inadequate quantities of charcuterie were served and when we asked for more, they replaced it with a different ham from the duck prosciutto on our contract and tried to charge an additional amount for this. Tried to increase the price for each wine, above the amounts on the contract. When I pointed this out, they were argumentative and unpleasant. They also billed me for more wine than we consumed, but luckily I had obtained the correct quantities in writing from one of the staff. Rude, unprofessional and inadequate service. My staff had to refill wine glasses and water, since their staff did nothing.
