A Thursday afternoon for a late lunch (2pm). A few people on the patio, one at the bar, about 4 parties inside.
I walked in and was greeted in a friendly manner by the hostess. When I told her I was solo, she asked if I wanted to sit at the bar. No. She then asked if I wanted to sit outside. No, it's 90 degrees out. There were 4 or 5 open booths. When I indicated that a booth would be nice, she had to go check with the manager about that. Fortunately, I was "approved." Sheesh!
There are some nice descriptions on the menu. I picked the Viva Las Vegan sandwich, described as:
Grilled GardenBelly, power greens, fresh zucchini, tomato, red onion, jalapeno, Dorothy Lynch, on a toasted vegan/GF bun.
The sandwich came out, after, apparently having been dragged through the Sahara desert. The entire sandwich was "spare," and thoughtlessly prepared and served. My mom couldn't cook...at all, and she would have done better. The power greens weren't very powerful, and I'm still looking for a hint of sauce. The bun was a stale "Wonderbread-like" offering.
On the other hand, the steamed broccoli was steamed until it cried mercy.
My server was pleasant, and I was pleasant to her, but she never bothered to inquire if things were to my liking, and as long I reminded her each time, she did a wonderful job of refilling my drink.
At least while dining, I got to see the bartender snacking while he prepared drinks, and the server with court-approved ankle bracelet sitting at the bar and having her lunch while she had a table.
I know, I know, it's Nebraska, so stick with the meat, but that's not what I felt like having, and this place is right across from the hotel.
If you're going to offer vegan selections, then do 'em right or take them off the menu.
Idk...I think this place is blessed with its location, and is just mailing it in. There are lots of other restaurants on each of the other corners, and up and down the street. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else.
I know, I know...Covid, supply chain, and nobody wants to work, excuses are coming. No matter, I'm not buying excuses any more for poor food and mediocre service. On the other hand, I still tip well, so they'll never know, so sadly, you will get to have the same experience. Sorry.
