"Chinese Tapas House—a tiny takeaway spot in Chinatown making jianbing—is a rare example of street food done right in London. The savoury crêpe-like dishes start at around £4 but when you load them with marinated pork belly and enoki mushrooms, it’s more like a tenner. It’s worth it though. Spicy, meaty, crunchy, messy—it's a satisfying lunch, especially when standing outside, watching people in the Angus Steakhouse opposite." - jake missing, rianne shlebak

I can say that this place will be the BEST Korean chinese restaurant in nova if they keep the quality of food and service. I was very pleasant with today's experience. The place was very clean and servers were nice! I ordered 유린기, 탕수육, 쟁반짜장, 울면 (Yuringi, tangsuyuk, Jaengban-jjajang, ulmyeon). Everything was delicious but my favorites were tansuyuk, jaengban-jjajang, and yuringi. Before the new chef came, I've visited here when they newly opened and several times after that. I saw decline in their quality of food and service and price going up so I stopped going. I was skeptical about visiting here once again but wanted to try once more. From today's experience, I agree that the prices can be a tiny bit higher than other places but I will gladly pay to eat this quality of authentic Korean style chinese food now. I would definitely come back again! Look forward to trying other menus.

Google
It's the best joongkook restaurant in the area. I noticed that their jjampbbong and other dishes weren't greasy like other place and they use high quality ingredients. I noticed that the shrimps were bigger, mussells were fresh, vegetables were fresh, and pork meat was fresh and of good quality. The inside of the restaurant looks and feels like joongkook restaurant from the past. The service was good. As far as food goes, all the dishes were excellent. Where I was taken aback was the price. We ordered two noodles, one fried rice dish, and an appetizer. The total was around $86. I hope they bring down the price because $18 for a bowl of noodles is a bit too much. I understand that they use good ingredients but this is too much. The portion sizes aren't consistent. My wife got way too much noodles while I got just enough. But the appetizer was way too small given the price point.

Taste wise, this is one of the best Korean-Chinese restaurants in the area. The quality of the main dish like Yurin chicken is by far, miles ahead of other Korean-Chinese restaurants in the area. The noodles in the dishes were also tender and fresh. The quality was noticeably better than similar restaurants. That said, this place comes with some caveats that hopefully gets better over time. First, the food takes much longer to come out. We waited roughly 25 minutes before our first dish came out and we overheard several customers from different tables voice their complaints. Also, the dishes are pricey. It is noticeably more expensive, especially considering the portions. I think this makes sense for main dishes like Yurin chicken or sweet and sour sauce deep fried pork/chicken, but not sure if we agree with the price on dishes like Jajangmyeon. I know the restaurant is new so we expect not everything to be perfect. I’d say, it’s definitely refreshing to finally see a Korean-Chinese restaurant with an extraordinary quality. Hope that some of the common problems that customers are pointing out get better though.

What an experience to enjoy meal here. Every dish is freshly and exquisitely created. Especially enjoyed our main Korean Chinese dish called yuringi, couldn't resist asking myself for more after each bite. YURINGI is fried chicken with peppers and a light sweet sour sauce. A piece of crunchy chicken soaked in sweet, sour, salty sauce tastes so crispy and juicy! The chopped spicy fresh pepper served with this dish adds delightful flavor for spicy food lovers like me! It never feels greasy but rather very refreshing. MUST TRY♡ We also got two Jajangmyeons which was also great! Leehwa's Korean black bean noodles (jajangmyeons) have a delicious earthy, sweet, sour, decadent flavor which our two kids love. 😋 ❤️ LEEHWA is now my favorite modern Chinese Korean restaurant! Visited one more time for my family Sunday dinner! Great atmosphere with the wonderful warm vibes♡ Ordered spicy seafood noodles and sweet and sour pork! So GOoD 👍 highly recommended during cold rainy day!

Their foods are very tasty. My 2yrs old and 5 yrs old daughter loved white oyster jjamppong!!!!

Google
The food is good and nicely garnished. Ingredients seem fresh and portions are generous but pricey. Doesn't say it on the menu, but there were two numbers by the food price for weekday and weekend pricing. The same dish is almost 30 percent more expensive on weekends? Food didn't come out together, about 20 minutes apart. First came a single bowl of friend rice, then 10 mins later the first dish, then 20 minutes after that the second dish. We only got two dishes. Also, they provide small 8oz bottles of water. Good food but presentation could be improved.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing - a fantastic blend of contemporary Chinese-Korean cuisine and trendy decor that will leave you in awe. The food is incredibly delicious, and the ambiance is just perfect. You won't regret checking it out!

Google
Place wasn’t too crowded for Friday night! Loved their atmosphere and the interior decorations, not sure why they built a bar section but wasn’t using it at all. Highly recommend the “Deep Fried Shrimp Baguette Toast” if you haven’t tried. Think it’s the only place that sells this in the menu. The only reason i gave 4 stars is for the pricing. Their chefs specials avg price is ~$40ish 😔 Ended up just getting Jajangmyun but it was good!

Yelp
First couple times I visited, it was great. Last couple times, prices have gone up, service isn't great, food taste/quality has gone down. Hope they can claw back the flavor and service back to what it used to be.

Yelp
Nope. Never again. Walk in and the establishment is nice. Ordering system is on the table. Ordered Sam Sun Gan Jja jang, Jjam Bbong and tang su yook. Server was friendly no issues, lots of potential and maybe a new spot. Jja jang myun comes out first , absolutely fantastic. On the spot about to start texting people to say this spot is legit. Next jjambbong. Nope. Mussels aren't even opened. There were 3 and they were all still closed. Although this is a seafood noodle dish the broth and taste was off. Something went bad. Couldn't eat it so left it on the table. Tangsooyook was unique. Crispiness was different from what I was used to. Slight pork smell but whatever. Anyways we told the server something is wrong with the jjambbong and he took the info. He brought us the check, didn't take it off the check , said he's sorry about the jjambbong and he said yea we ended up throwing away all the muscles since they are bad. Wait what? So they were bad and we ate some that had gone bad? AND you leave it on the check? Two tables next to us so I didn't make a scene or anything. Paid and left..... But as the day went on it irritated me and I regretted not telling them to take it off the check. This is basically common sense. Wife called back and basically the server who IS a nice guy but he said he did say he was sorry didn't he? He also said we should have told him to take it off of the check. We asked for the manager/owner to call. The server delivered the message and said the owner would call. No one called back. DONT serve rotten or spoiled food as I actually had the runs for a day. TEACH your staff that when they even confirm something was bad and the customer barely ate the food take it off of the check. I'm not trying to get a freebie, I don't want to pay for uneaten spoiled food. VERY VERY disappointed in this place and won't ever go back. 이거는 아니지.

Yelp
My family and I came to Lee Hwa after the airport. The restaurant was very empty on a Sunday dinner and we were seated very quickly. We got the tang su yuk and jajang myun. The deep fried pork was very chewy (in a good way) and the noodles were very saucy. The servers were very attentive and very talkative. They came by the table often and offered a lot of small talk and explanation of the dishes. I felt that it was a little much but I think some people may enjoy it.

Bobby S.

Yelp
The gahn jjajangmyun (fried bean paste) here is absolutely amazing! The noodles are cooked and prepared to perfection. There is plenty of shrimp and octopus in the seafood version (samsun)... We loved the shrimp toast as an appetizer... the sauce and cheese is well balanced and sweet. You have to get the pork ttangsooyook and the I wasn't too big of a fan of the spicy shrimp kkangpoonghi. It was missing the slight sweetness and felt a little more peppery. I'd stick with the trangaooyook. Come check it out! One of the best Korean Chinese places in the area.

Julie K.

Yelp
I went here for lunch on Sunday for Mother's Day (and we did not get the special course meal for that). I love the interior! It has cool lighting and also the waitresses were really kind and we didn't have to wait to be seated for a group of 4. I ordered the Korean Style Spicy Seafood Champon (jjampong / 짬뽕) and I thought it was really unique and not what I'm used to. The noodles were on the thinner side than I'm used to and really soft. I really loved the squid in the soup though. Also I thought that my mom's seafood and black bean paste noodle (삼선 간짜장) was so much yummier and my new favorite in Northern VA!! It's definitely on the pricier side as well but the portions are quite big.

Yelp
I just visited for the first time to eat Korean Jambong with my family. Its taste was mediocre and not much contents in a bowl, and its price was $19. That is way too High. If its price is expensive, then its food should be worth it--but it is NOT. Its service was also below average. Not impressive... I would not go back to this restaurant. There are other restaurants that give more contents of its food and its price is reasonable. Ambiance was not vibe,

Leslie J.

Yelp
Lovely last minute choice while shopping in Chantilly. Definitely stop in for fresh tasting food plus super attentive service. Family owned busines.

Heah-in O.

Yelp
The vibe of the restaurant was nice. We order three dishes: the noodle with seafood and black soybean sauce, the crispy yurin chicken with lemon soy sauce, and the lee hwa fried rice. Thought the food was overall underwhelming. The noodle with seafood and black soybean sauce was on the saltier side. It had the firey taste and a lot of seafood portions. Out of the three dishes, this was the best, but not good enough to return to this restaurant. The crispy yurin chicken with lemon soy sauce was pretty bland. The chicken was nicely crispy and cooked well but the sauce was lacking. I did not really taste the lemon. I wish it were a little more sweet and sour. The peppers were a nice kick but not enough. Lastly, the fried rice was the worst dish out of the three. The chicken, shrimp and beef pieces had no flavor. It tasted like it was just cooked with no seasoning at all. The overall fried rice also lacked flavor too. We needed to take some of the soybean sauce from the other dish to help balance out the flavors. The fried rice seemed like there was no garlic even. Just oil, rice, egg, meat, and maybe a small pinch of salt. I was very disappointed in this dish since it is not a cheap price!! The service was pretty friendly and the server knew both Korean and English fluently. It took a bit of time to get the check, but not too bad! I don't know if I will be returning to this restaurant. Didn't really wow me and the food was quite pricey.

Steve K.

Yelp
Like their scorched rice stew, and their sweet and sour pork (tang so yook). Definitely on the pricier side for smaller quantity .. I guess hence the "tapas"

Kyeonghoon K.

Yelp
Foods are all delicious. This is the best among korean chinese restaurants in DMV area.

Francisco L.

Yelp
We kept seeing this place on our ig reels and wanted to try it out as it was branded as a "tapas" style Korean/chinese experience. When we arrived, the waiters and service were fantastic and were extremely nice. However, the food was average and not very memorable. Here is what we tried: Crispy Yurin Chicken - lightly fried, moist chicken on a bed of lettuce and diced peppers. Good solid choice anybody would like Spicy Shrimp Kkangpoonghi - the breading was a little soggy due to it being very oily and greasy. Flavor wise it was ok Jajangmyeon - it was ok... you can get better at other places The dishes were more like entrees and didn't really see the "tapas" vibe that was advertised. The ambiance is nice but it was pretty pricey for what you were getting. Overall great service and staff would like to see the place embrace more tapas style by offering more small dish options to encourage customers to taste different flavors with more reasonable prices

Joyce P.

Yelp
Not sure how many times I've been in this place. We ordered the same food every time we visit. So good you should try! The one pictured are our top favorites.

Jae P.

Yelp
With the downfall of many Korean-Chinese restaurants in NOVA recently, Lee Hwa is a great addition. The menu, although a bit higher in pricepoint, is varied and creative, and all dishes are executed to a higher degree than the typical Korean-Chinese fusion restaurant. The tangsooyuk and yoonringi were delicious and fried well. The jjampong was deep in flavor and offered a variety fresh seafood like crab that enhanced the dish well. The mala noodles were also flavorful and the perfect level of spiciness. Service was not super attentive but we didn't really have any problems as we didn't need anything during our dine-in. We were accidentally charged for something we didn't order but the staff were quick and helpful in reimbursing us.

Manseok H.

Yelp
Food were good but small portion and very pricy. Two old waitress were really bad, never smile, no attention to customer but to talk to each other all the time, stayed less than 5 feet from our table during our dinner the whole time - making us very uncomfortable, never asked whether we would need anything else and/or asking if the foods were acceptable. The way they talk to custoimer is almost rude.

Yelp
I came across this place a month ago just driving by and people were speculating about what it would be. A couple days ago someone on Facebook had posted they went there for the soft opening and discovered it is Chinese/Korean tapas dishes. We have quite a handful of Korean Chinese restaurants in the area and all have gone through their peaks of being good..then most of them losing some luster through COVID. This restaurant breathes a fresh breath into that food scene. The menu is diverse, Korean only dishes, Chinese only dishes then some fusion. One would need to dine here many times to try everything on the menu. The plates are divided up in small plates, and large. The large being, quite large. I have a standard that any place that has mapo tofu I have to try and judge since there seems to be no real standard for the dish. Every restaurant takes a twist on it. This place had a thin sauce with diced up jalapeños in it which was new. The flavor was good! It didn't have the numbing effect that some places put in but still a mid level spice. The owner(?) told us that they were known for their fried dumplings and also recommended the shrimp toasts. We opted for the dumplings and will come back for the toasts another time. Dumplings were huge! I believe the order came with 5 total. Super crisp and packed with a meat filling. Our kids shared a small plate jajaangmyun which was a good portion for them since they had bites of the other dishes as well. The tangsooyuk had a very crisp, crunchy fried batter on it. Which was great since most places it ends up somewhat soggy or not fresh out of the fryer. While this was the last dish to come out it didn't disappoint. The pork was perfectly cut and cooked. On top were tomatoes, pineapple, mushrooms and peaches. The one thing I wished was that there was an option to put the sauce on the side. Not all people like the sauce dumped on top of the dish since sometimes it contributes to make the pork soggy if left out too long before serving. All in all Id say for a soft opening they did really well! We were told how they sourced a chef that had training in both Korea and NY. I hope they are able to work out a plan for success in the area! While their prices are a bit higher for the portions you get I hope people can see they are paying for the quality rather than quantity. The difference is there. The one area we saw improvement was for the pace of food as it was coming out. Some things took minutes while others came out after we were almost done the other dishes and I feel like it would of tasted better if they all came out at similar times to eat cohesively.

Steven G.

Yelp
The interior design is fantastic and staff are friendly and kind. It pains me that the food fell so short of expectations for me. Our group ordered individual dishes ( Jajangmyeon and General Tso Chicken) and one shared entree (Tangsuyuk - Deep Fried Sweet & Sour Pork). Things arrived very fast from the kitchen; perhaps not a good sign. I made the mistaken of ordering the General Tso Chicken; which given 1/4 of their menu was American style chinese food ... seemed like a safe bet. I was deeply mistaken. The chicken had zero crispiness (the breading was mushy, soggy and wet looking) and an ultra salty brown sauce (the wrong sauce might I add) was poured on top. It was criminal what they did to this dish. As for the Tangsuyuk? It struck me as basic & bland; which compared to the decor of neon lights, and mahjong tiled walls ... stood out the most. I wonder if they seasoned the cuts of pork before they deep fried them? Im not sure why but ... something felt wrong. Close but off. I never tried my other group member's Jajangmyeon; but none said a word about it. Which among foodies? Is actually saying a lot. I hope it was at least serviceable. Im worried with such a wobbly start (and the absolutely great restaurants all around them) they may not survive for long without pivoting to a new lead chef. Rooting for you. Will revisit in a few months hoping things have improved.

Marianna Y.

Yelp
What is up w the low rating??? This place was awesome! It's not like your everyday korean-chinese restaurants, it def got a nicer vibe (and quality). I ordered the classic, black bean noodle, Yuringi(sliced light friend chicken w veggies/sauce), and seafood hotpot like soup (it got crunchy rice soaked in the seafood soup, really good!). Everyone including I think the owner was super nice and food was really good. I wish I lived closer, I'd come again!

Jin S.

Yelp
Great food. Refreshing new Korean Chinese spot and if you come at a non busy hour, the passionate owner will explain the menu to you

Erica V.

Yelp
Soft opening. Ordered 2 dishes and both tasted good. Prices are high for the amount of food.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Super trendy and brand new Chinese fusion! Every dish we had was absolutely delicious. They really packed in the seafood and the scallops were especially tender. My absolute favorite was the jjamppong which was so flavorful I absolutely devoured it. The kkanpung saeu (fried chili shrimp) were jumbo jumbo sized and super crispy with a tangy sauce that was on the sweeter side. I love the ambiance of this place too - it would make a great date night or friend get together. We were a group party so I'm not sure how big the individual servings are.

Amir H.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time today. I'm just absolutely impressed by everything. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Jon at the bar. He was super helpful and walked us through the menu as it was all new to us. We ordered a few diff plates to try but the two that totally stuck out were the Crispy Yurin Chix and the Kan Poong Eggplant. They were so good and both had the perfect blend of Sweet/Spicy/Sour. Also, not only were the apps moderately priced, they were huuuuuge portions. In a time when so many restaurants are shrinkflating everything, I really appreciate this. So overall I 10/10 recommend this place. It is a hidden NoVa gem.

Karen Y.

Yelp
I think the food is pretty good there. We ordered two small plates (beef and pork) plus a regular dish (seafood). I will come back and try some other stuff like ma la beef noodle, something that I don't see often in Korean Chinese places. Al dishes are on the pricier side but the portion was decent. I would recommend to go as a group to try everything. Service wise, when we went there during soft opening, so the staff didn't know to add hot water to my hot tea, the head server was nice and knowledgeable though.

Catherine C.

Yelp
Too pricey and not enough protein. Ordered a few seafood dishes and could count the pieces of protein on one hand. This wasn't the first time either. Portions are smaller than when they first opened. Not going back.

John K.

Yelp
This place is awful. I ordered oyster jjambbong, and there weren't any oysters--just a bunch of vegetables. The Samsun Ganjja Jang was even worse: all onions and cabbage, with no black bean paste. I went during dinner, and the place was nearly empty, with only one family there. I won't be shocked if they go out is business soon.

Lan V.

Yelp
All the items we ordered were very good and tasty. We went on a Friday at lunch time and it wasn't very crowded because it's a new restaurant. I would definitely come back again and try some of the other dishes.

Y L.

Yelp
Quite pricey, but small portions. The Fried Garlic Shrimps were way too spicy. The seats were as hard & uncomfortable as those in Lotte's Food Court, & the service was just so-so, but it had the nerve to expect us to pay a tip between 20 - 25%.

Danny L.

Yelp
All foods are very salty. They need to use less sodium. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for Korean Chinese food.

Jack P.

Yelp
Visited for the first time with my mother in law and wife. We ordered 2 beers, 2 appetizers, and 4 entrees between the 3 of us. They mixed up the 2 beers so strike 1. They never came and asked us if we wanted additional beer so strike 2. They never filled up our empty water so strike 3. And one of the dishes we ordered never came out and we asked twice, but we were already 75% finished with all of the other food so took it to go. They had no interest in making it right. The least they could have done was just removed the item from the bill and we would have been happy not taking it. On the positive side....all the food we had (except the take out food which no one is going to eat) was tasty. I'll give it another chance, but the service was in the bottom 10% of restaurant experiences that I've had.

Justin L.

Yelp
Stay away... from the rude manager. Food is bland and overpriced. I wouldn't eat it again even it was free.

Cathy Thao M.

Yelp
Great comfort food. Great service. Everyone was so friendly. It feels like a great low key place to grab a drink as well. The Yurin chicken was to die for. I wanted a second order. Honestly I was sad I had to share it with the table. I will be coming back again and again to support this small local business.

Katherine M.

Yelp
Excellent experience last night at Lee Hwa. Great customer service - really enjoyed speaking with one of the owners. I ordered the pork sweet and sour dish and a lemon chicken dish. Both phenomenal. I will definitely be back.
