Hidden gem within a super cool historical building that's serving up AMAZING wings, pizza, and craft beer. I finally got the chance to check out Lees Grocery for a superbowl dinner and will definitely be returning. The atmosphere was very laid back and although it was pretty empty when we went, I can imagine it's a fun spot when it's more busy. The inside is smaller than I anticipated it to be, but I enjoyed it. Made it seem homier. I was surprised to see the large outdoor seating area, which seems great for larger groups!
Food: The wings are absolutely amazing. We ordered the 10 wings, plain, with hot and mild sauce and blue cheese on the side. The wings were so perfectly seasoned and almost reminded me of the wings on a rotisserie chicken, nicely smoked. We also got a plain cheese pizza pie, 18''. It came out fresh, hot, and the cheese and sauce had great flavor. It does have a thicker chewier crust. Parmesan cheese, oregano, red pepper, and garlic powder are available to add on top. There were a lot of fun pizza options/ combos and we'll be back to try the more interesting flavors. I'm also interested in trying the garlic parmesan wings. The nice thing about smaller joints like this is that the food comes out quick and so fresh! No food is sitting around when the kitchen is so close to the main dining area.
Drinks: They have such a large variey of canned craft beers, ipa's, seltzers, and even non-alcoholic beers. There were also 6 different draft beers. I sipped on some Surfside's, while my boyfriend enjoyed the Tampa Export gold lager. It was a very light and crisp beer. The bartender was great and let us sample a couple of the beers and even made a mix of a sour and seltzer beer that she likes!
