"Lee’s Tavern feels like it’s frozen in an era before cell phones were invented. Every table at this 1940s-founded sports bar on Staten Island features at least one pitcher of light beer and a couple of thin-crust pizzas oozing cheese onto paper plates. The pies here are some of our favorite in the Staten-Island style, with slightly charred bottoms and crust bubbles you could break with a single little tap. Always order the clam pie, even if you were raised to think that mollusks and cheese don’t belong together. The mild, low-moisture cheese, fresh hunks of garlic, and briny clams work so well together that they should form an LLC." - bryan kim, willa moore, kenny yang, carlo mantuano, molly fitzpatrick

"Lee’s Tavern is another place that makes excellent Staten Island-style pizzas. Come to this Dongan Hills spot on a weekend afternoon, grab a seat at the bar next to a group of regulars who are here every week for the game, and order a pitcher and a few pies. They’re known for their clam pie, and if you are a bivalve skeptic, just try one bite of crunchy crust and chewy clam sprinkled with parsley and then we can talk. But now that we've gotten that out of the way, let’s discuss the buffalo calamari. It's exactly what it sounds like—fried calamari, crispy-gone-soggy in spicy buffalo sauce, with blue cheese for dipping. The combination works shockingly well, and you might look at all chicken wings like imposters for the rest of your life." - willa moore

"Lee’s Tavern is frozen in an era without cell phone reception or the team known as the New York Metropolitans. It’s a 1940s-founded sports bar on Staten Island where every table features at least one pitcher of light beer and a couple of cracker-thin crust pizza oozing onto paper plates. The pies here are some of our favorite in the Staten-Island style, with slightly charred bottoms and crust bubbles you could break with a single little tap. I always order their clam pie. Even if you were raised to think that molluscs and cheese don’t belong together, Lee’s Tavern’s clam pie is proof that food rules are mostly stupid. The mild, low-moisture cheese, fresh hunks of garlic, and briny clams work so well together that they should form an LLC." - hannah albertine

This is a must visit location for those who like the stories and adventures that travel along the desert trip to and from Las Vegas. Much like eating at one of the “Original” Del Tacos, or powering through “The Narcissist” or “Mannimal” at Apollo’s or having a cinnamon roll at Penny’s or steak and drinks at the Pioneer Saloon, Lee’s Tavern is a can’t miss for those that don’t just want to drive to and from LV but actually experience what’s around this tour that you’re on. Cheap drinks, the best no-frills Bloody Mary around and character in abundance. Hope you enjoy a new spot to share w/ your friends on your travels.

If you like your bars with history, a little dust, and local flavor, stop in at Lee's Tavern. We passed through on a Friday for happy hour en route to the Mojave Preserve. First we were greeted by a cat, then by Mr. Lee (the place was empty otherwise). Beers were cheap and cold, the locals who came by were friendly and by the time we left the counter was starting to fill up with guys getting off work. We got some good tips on fishing and things to see nearby ... would stop in again if I'm back in the area!

Only bar in town. A little run down, slightly creepy if you're the only one in there. Which I was. Cheap beer, worth a quick stop if you're in the area. I believe they sell unopened liquor to go as well.

Coldest beer at 1.80 a piece and delicious bloody Mary for 2.35 locally owned for 60 plus years

Yelp
Ok, I'm being objective, it's a super obscure dive bar, so don't come in with your fancy bougie ways. It's a place to get a quick sip of sumpin' and Lee is very nice. The place is not up to date but it's very much on par with the town.

Yelp
Great little spot for a frosty beverage in the brutal desert! Lee's is a gem. Stop in and support a landmark.

Yelp
A true traditional bar! I don't know how old it is, but it's...intimate. Mr Lee, the proprietor, is a young elder who serves mostly locals and passersby. We enjoyed Vodka Sodas and Modelo Beers while chatting about the area and our trip in Vegas. The bathroom needs a face-lift. A charming bar indeed.

Yelp
Legit As Fuck. Hipsters despised. Beer and beer. No IPA. No AC. No fresh air. Cat hair, dust and Modelo is the import. Leon is The Man.

Yelp
Long ago Yermo was a prospering community that centered around servicing motorists that were traveling along the Arrowhead Trail, many either coming to Southern California or traveling out to Las Vegas and Utah. As anyone who has watched the movie CARS can attest, once you get bypassed by the interstate there isn't much left to keep you a float, and towns and places like Yermo become more history than alive and thriving. Yet, sometimes in these places that time and travelers have seemed to neglect are little treasures that exist that people should discover and breathe life into again because they're just too unbelievably cool to not experience; case in point: Lee's Tavern in Yermo, CA It's like a scene from a movie, the decor is old, the bar dingy, a cat and dog roam about freely, there's the wind and the dust and the odd local having a beer at 11AM on a Sunday. It also has one very strong and extremely to the point Bloody Mary; no there are no frills, garnishments or nonsense, nope, this is a working man's Bloody Mary, and after two, you will be absolutely ready to be back on the long road to Sin City. I hope everyone that reads this review takes a chance and pulls off the road to check out Lee's. You will discover that Lee's has its fans from all over the world and from all walks of life, but there's so many younger locals now that need a place like this in their lives and on their travels that I decided to post this for them (and of course for Lee's register and tip jar) For me this is a "must do" on the road to Vegas. I mean are you getting Del Taco at one of the originals, of course; are you getting a Gyro at the Mad Greek or getting White Castle burgers in Jean or going to the Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings? Absolutely you are! Well make sure to add a new stop off at Lee's Tavern in Yermo to the your list of Vegas road trip points! If you love making your trips mini adventures then you'll love Lee's for sure, plus, and I can't believe I forgot to mention this, he's one of these grandfathered in establishments in CA where you can still buy a bottle (at the bar) to take with you LOL! We'll see you at Lee's!

Yelp
Perfect pit stop! Lee is kind and hospitable. Cheap drinks and a cat to pet. No fru fru drinks.

Yelp
I was at the market next to the bar when I noticed the lights were on and there was someone inside. I never realized the bar was there before. I decided to go in and check it out. I met the owner, Lee, and asked if he had anything for under the $3 I had in cash . He asked what I wanted and I just got a bottle of Bud light. It turns out it was only $1.80! The bar has an old-school atmosphere and it's pretty small, but there is a relaxing vibe and I look forward to coming here again. I already told a couple friends about it so it should be soon.

Yelp
Lee's tavern is the best place to go when your near Barstow, really cool laid back guy,he listen to our stories and had a few laughs. Great cheap beer, i did not know the history behind the place, but it was open in the 30's and has been there every since. It's easy to find, just look for the sign "liquor" and your there. I will definitely stop there again if I'm near by

Yelp
My husband and I were headed to Las Vegas from San Diego and got a little thirsty around Barstow. Unable to find somewhere to have a beer (it was a tad early in the day) we continued on the 15. Desperate, we tried his iPhone and Lee's Tavern popped up in Yermo. Although there isn't much left in Yermo, we still had trouble finding it because the only indicator of a bar was a "Liquour" sign hanging outside of a small, one floor building and a "Yes, We're Open" sign in the window. Inside was Mr. Lee, two cats, and the coldest Bud Lite I'd ever tasted. His grandfather opened it in the 30's and it is the only place we found between Victorville and Primm for a libation. Thank god it was open. We stopped on the way home from Vegas and had another beer, while telling Mr. Lee about our weekend. Nice guy!
