"At Légende, chef Frédéric Laplante's progressive approach to farm-to-table fine dining in Old Québec means everything in his kitchen is from Quebec—everything. That means no lemons, avocados, tropical fruits, or black tea—not even black pepper. You'll taste pure boreal flavors here, which may include seasonal hits like a seafood platter entirely drawn from the St. Lawrence River, Cornish hen paired with herbed gnocchi and oyster mushrooms, elk carpaccio with tofu crumble and golden sea-buckthorn berries, and seared scallops with smoked duck, fennel, and Nordic shrimp. Get the $95 tasting menu for the full experience." - Todd Plummer, Isa Tousignant

We had an amazing experience, and would highly recommend! You can tell that so much thought went into each dish. We got the mocktail pairing with the tasting menu and loved it! Our favourite dishes were the halibut, shallot tartlet and dessert!

The staff are very kind and attentive, the food was outstanding, and the service is very quick. The atmosphere is warm and cozy with perfect lighting the Quebec-Cola is very tasty and healthier than the original everything is neat and in its place. In the blind tasting option The waiters explain everything about the dish. Overall this was a great experience and i wish to come here more often in the future Written by Andy’s son, Andrew

This place is top-notch! The food and service are absolutely high-end. I visited during dinner service when they had just opened. The staff greeted me warmly and offered to remove my jackets. Let me describe the ambiance. The aesthetics and design are earthy and creative, featuring a blend of real plants and fake ones, along with a striking wall decor. The bathroom is also speakeasy-style, clean, and intimate. The dim lighting and the design of the walls created a cozy atmosphere. I appreciated the clean towels folded neatly to dry my hands. Now, let’s talk about the food. The presentation, flavors, textures, and aesthetics of each dish were simply exceptional. I opted for the mussels, second dish was ravioli that one of the ingredients was charcoal and shiitake mushrooms. It was a unique and artistic creation. The staff took great care of me, changing my plates, napkins, and communicating with me, and providing detailed explanations about each dish. Jeff was great! However, my dessert was the highlight of the experience. The dessert cake was made with shiitake mushrooms, and it was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant for an unforgettable dining experience, exceptional food, and memorable moments.

We had an amazing experience here. My girlfriend and I got the blind tasting menu. The six course meal was definitely a fantastic experience and we had a fantastic experience. The staffs were extremely and friendly and explained each courses perfectly. Highly recommend!

Google
Amazing and delightful. Creative menu hits all the right spots with a good balance of meat to plant dishes (meat being a halibut dish and a venison dish) all perfect, fun, beautifully presented. Will be back again (this was my 2nd visit and won’t be the last) 💕👏🏻 I considered posting the menu, but they like to keep that a surprise for the diner…so you will have to discover THAT on your own - bon appetit!

Google
Some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. Super balanced flavours and extraordinary combinations! It’s worth dining here solely for their mushroom desert, or the venison plate. Honestly, everything I tried here was spot on and top-notch. Service was phenomenal; the waitress was super patient and understanding. Unbelievably kind! Nd the restaurant itself is just a beautiful establishment. Super intricate and distinct paintings, overhanging plants that have the whole place a wonderfully natural appeal, comfortable seating and spotless tables. The only thing is, it’s not the most family friendly! It has a more quiet and relaxed atmosphere which is perfect for a romantic or more reserved outing. All in all, loved this restaurant and you’d be doing yourself a favour in coming here!

Google
I highly recommend the dining experience at this restaurant. The service is impeccable, and the wine list is outstanding, featuring truly special labels. I had the pleasure of trying one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time—the Champignon—an absolute delight. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and a relaxed atmosphere. A well-deserved five-star experience! My only regret is living over 1,000 km away. If you’re visiting Quebec, make sure to book a table—it’s absolutely worth it!

I had the best oysters of my life at this restaurant. The ambiance was incredibly beautiful and peaceful, and the staff were exceptionally kind and caring. We visited for a birthday celebration, and the entire team went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect, just as we had requested. They reserved a lovely and beautifully set table for us, which helped create an unforgettable romantic evening. The creative menu by the chef was absolutely delicious, and they even modified it perfectly to accommodate our food allergies. Overall, I can confidently say this was the best restaurant we've been to in Quebec City.

Yelp
Outstanding experience Nice ambiance, fairly small. Reservations a must. Your party can choose a la carte or the tasting menu, which was around 110 $ per person Canadian. They were very accommodating, allowing the adults add our table to select the tasting menu and letting our child do a La carte. All of the food is seasonal available in Québec or Canada. For example, the chocolate is a chocolate substitute as it is not grown in Canada. We had a FABULOUS 6 course experience of scallops, deer heart (yes), bison, 3 bread types with unique selection of 3 condiments, and an open macaroon. At the table is a cylinder with 6 compartments. Each one has a hint at the next course, such as corn, spice, dried rose. If I lived near I would definitely come back every season to enjoy the rotating menu. Ps watermelon martini was Fabulous- not to sweet.

Yelp
This place was a whole vibe! Food was amazing, they catered to my lactose intolerance. It was a wonderful evening. I had the non alcoholic part with the courses and hands down some of the best mocktails I've had in my life. Delicious, the mixologist is genius and I am willing to come back just for those mocktails. Food was wonderful too, just overall a great experience. Be hungry and ready to be there for over 2 hours. What an experience!

Yelp
Our best meal in Quebec City by far...casual yet nice and just a beautiful restaurant inside. Amazing staff who actually make you feel like they want you there and quick and attentive. The food is what makes this place one of the best in the city. We chose the bar to sit at when we made reservations as there were just two of us. The whole place had really great seating though. The bar was where it was happening though! You watched them pour and create drinks. Observe them cleaning each wine glass by hand. Just a treat to watch all this going on while you indulge in amazing food. We both had wine with this meal. I had a nice red did never had before but went in the bartenders recommendation and my friend had a Rosè. Both excellent . They have a great wine list and cocktail menu. They come round with nice warm moist napkins to start off your experience to wash your hands with. Then they served us a little pre dinner snack of crackers and a house made hummus type dip. Which was delicious. Loved the crackers. Dip was kinda peppery. Our first dish was the Crevette.. essentially a scallop ceviche. With a twist of course! The scallops melted in your mouth and the sauce was just so much robust flavor without being overwhelming. Amazing unique dish. We also had a side of their amazing focaccia, unlike anyone you've had before I guarantee you ! Light, fluffy, spongy and just not your typical bread. Served with a wonderful butter that was part salty and part sweet. Again wow. Next we had the vegetarian ricotta and basil house made pasta. The Cavatelli. In a wild mushroom sauce again so rich in flavor. Sage crumble on top which you could definitely taste. Another outstanding dish. Our next one was the Aubergine. This just looked so different. Smoked eggplant, roasted red pepper sauce, crushed hazelnuts and a black garlic emulsion. Wow! This was decadent to the last bite. Our final course of dessert! The apple and spices or as they call it Pomme & Epice . A fall dessert with an apple calfoutis cake and apple butter and apple sorbet. Which all sounds like a lot of apple but totally works . Nothing overwhelming or too sweet. This was the perfect end to a fantastic dinner. The coffee I had was also just served perfectly and nice and strong and great with the apple cake. Legende is one not to miss here in QC. They have tasting menus too if you just want to be surprised. I loved every dish we ordered and shared . The service is stellar and you kinda feel like your leaving a friends house when you leave. We were here a solid 3 hours !

Yelp
We were lucky enough to secure a reservation at this wonderful farm to table Québécois focused menu. The restaurant is located within a hotel in the old town. It's really a beautiful space and the menu is diverse and varied, with attention to local products from the nearby St. Lawrence River, to the farmlands of the Quebec region. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing. It was a phenomenal experience, everything prepared in house and the presentation along with timing of the meal, perfect. A foodie heaven.

Colleen D.

Yelp
This was our favorite restaurant during our visit in Quebec City. Up there as one of our all time faves. We enjoyed it so much, we kept adding more items to our order because we wanted to taste their creations. Each one was better than the last. Their dishes are very creative and use only local, in season ingredients, so the menu will likely change often. I'm not even sure I can say which menu item was my favorite, as we enjoyed them all so much. The cocktails were also creative and we loved the ambiance. Service was impeccable. I highly recommend making a visit here. If I were local, I would eat here regularly. An absolute must while in QC.

Crystal G.

Yelp
Impeccable service. FANTASTIC food. Intimate, welcoming aesthetic. I'm not sure of the last time a restaurant blew me away like Légende. I also can't tell you the last time I ordered more bread at any restaurant (I usually don't eat bread provided) but it was THAT GOOD. I did the tasting menu and I'm sooo happy with my decision. Every single dish was fantastic and there wasn't one thing I didn't like. The presentation, the flavor, the creativity, all so well done. Bravo Légende, a restaurant I won't forget.. and can't wait to come back to on my next visit.

Yelp
Locally sourced fabulous 7 course meal. Sublime wine selected for each course. Easy to access. Did not mind the huge check.

Ally Y.

Yelp
Where do I start? My top 5 best meals of all time - impeccable service, beautiful decor, friendly and fun service, and most importantly, beautifully decorated and unique yet top notch delicious food!! We were blown away by the food here - it measures up to many two-three michelin star restaurants, and its philosophy is to be respected. Ingredients are all from Quebec region and while some dishes look familiar, they have theirs own twists to them. Absolutely loved it and will return

David H.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences ever. Sat at the bar which was a great experience. Could chat with the staff about the food and wine. Elegant dining room.

Yelp
Québec - Je me souviens - je me souviendrai toujours et merci. ***** My final dinner in Quebec City was a Legende and it was a high note to say farewell to the Grande Dame of Quebec Province. She is certainly memorable. As always, I was warmly greeted and given a choice of seating, as it was beautiful weather, I chose to dine outside. I ordered the tasting menu and the wine pairing and then the journey began. The two amuse bouche were delicious and each was a wonderful bite - a taste of what was to come. The first course was a halibut gravlax - tender, buttery and incredible and served with crisp cucumber and a cool, flavorful tomato water. The second course was a seafood bisque of sorts - lobster bisque, mussels, shrimp with some braised fennel - sublime. Probably my favorite dish and as I told the server, I am generally not a fan of lobster, lobster bisque, mussels or shrimp and yet it was my favorite of the menu. The bread - similar to focaccia - that came with the soup was wonderful with a slightly sweet, savory butter. Delicious. The third course was broccolini with a miso bearnaise, bok choy, bao bread and shallot chips - so delicious. The fourth course was a tender deer carpaccio with some nice salty cheese and hazelnuts - a surprisingly tasty combination. The fifth course was mix of bbq sauce, mushrooms, tender meat and other boreal elements - very good, very filling! The sixth course was dessert - delicious with strawberries and strawberry sorbet, lemon verbena a wonderful, refreshing and light dessert that lifted and finished the whole dinner. When I was finished - I was stuffed! The wine pairings were interesting and perfect. A wonderful symphony of a tasting menu with all the right notes, some surprises and some favorite flavors ad textures. My farewell to the city of Quebec was indeed memorable and I could not have hoped for a better end to my visit. Quebec City - Je me souviens - je me souviendrai toujours et merci. Legende has a great reputation and it is deserved. The food is wonderful but also I need to mention that the staff are amazing. Attentive, accommodating - but not intrusive - delightful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the evening with - and yes, they got a 30% tip because they were truly superb. I can not wait until my next visit!

Yelp
This restaurant was located short walk from the hotel we were staying, and since snow blizzard was announced, we took chances and hoped to find an open table. Luckily, we got one without having a reservation. Interior is very trendy but homey, very comfortable and warm. We opted for 7 course tasting menu with wine and champagne pairing and it was quite enjoyable. I understand it was professionally paired but in few instances, I personally didn't necessarily agree on it, but it was absolutely a must try experience. The presentation (both the look of the food and the way it was served to us) was probably for me the most enjoyable part, but there are several dishes that I really enjoyed. I loved the appetizers and the pasta with mushrooms, the one dish I really didn't like was the last one desert that drew the inspiration from PB&J .. it was incredibly oily, which created unfortunate aftertaste. All in all, great job, I wouldn't mind returning.

Nora S.

Yelp
We were here during the heat wave and the AC in the restaurant wasn't totally up to the job of cooling the place so we were a little warm, but we still enjoyed our meal. The service was top notch; attentive without being fussy. I had a kind of pretend Pernod mocktail, which was delicious. My spouse enjoyed the suggested wines which, if you're not a connoisseur, you might let them choose. We did not do a pairing, just two glasses. I would say we were wowed by most things, especially the ceviche which was new to the menu. Less successful for me was the asparagus, which lost its taste in a cheese sauce, but I still ate every bite. We did the tasting menu, and the duck rubbed with koji mushroom was the tenderest duck I've ever eaten. However, Pollen dessert was maybe twice the size it needed to be, and it contains alcohol so know that if you don't consume it. It was a very lovely meal and we were happy and content- especially with the welcoming and professional staff.

Fallon B.

Yelp
L'atmosphère, la nourriture et surtout le service ont organisé un dîner inoubliable. si vous êtes à Québec, c'est un incontournable!

Ivan K.

Yelp
We had one of the best tasting menues that we have experienced. This was a great experience in all categories; of food , service and decor. While we rarely choose to rerun a tasting menu this is an exception , we shall return in the future which is the ultimate compliment.

Matt G.

Yelp
Honestly, Legende is a close second to the best restaurant I've ever eaten in (Stockholm 2005). Amazing creativity in every aspect of the restaurant and cuisine. The complexity of the dishes was world class without being precious or overkill. They source everything locally around Quebec and the unique ingredient pairing was extraordinary. Both my wife and I were blown away. No details were overlooked. I would have had the tasting menu but it's for two and my wife would never- too much food. If you don't like Legende, you don't like world class cuisine.

Craig M.

Yelp
One of the two best meals I had in Québec City, which says a lot because the other was at sister restaurant Bistro L'Orygine! And not just a little better than the rest... head and shoulders above the rest. Here you'll find flavors so amazing you'll find yourself pausing every once in a while just to take it all in. It's almost overwhelming how much beauty the chefs draw out of the all locally sourced ingredients. There's incredible art in the food and on the walls. Service is top notch. Foodies, don't miss this place! Or if you do, only miss it because you went to L'Orygine instead.

Martin W.

Yelp
Uninteresting food that lacked flavor for the price point... Service was a miss as oyster appetizer didn't appear and we sat a long time (15 mins+) waiting to pay. Lots of great options in Old Quebec, I would look elsewhere for an enjoyable meal...

Shannon J.

Yelp
Wowowow! Such a fun and interesting meal. I got the tasting menu and would definitely recommend it. Each plate had a story and was so tasty. I didn't pay for this meal since I was on a work trip but would happily go back and spend my own money.

Benjamin W.

Yelp
One of the best restaurant experiences I've had. The food and service were great. Best cocktails I've ever had. I like that each dish was something I never would of though to do and each was explained as it was set in front of us. Who would of thought pine needles tasted so good.

Susan K.

Yelp
We did the tasting menu & it was amazing! 6 courses - all yummy! Each course was just the right size so we left satiated but not stuffed or still hungry; service was attentive so there were no gaps; loved the ambience & great service!

Kathy C.

Yelp
Great food, fantastic service.... I would recommend the tortellini my husband had the seafood soup and raved. The dessert menu scared us, since all the ingredients are from Quebec my favorites were not on the list. No problem we now have a new favorite cranberries and cream stacked with puff pastry. The other dessert looked interesting and very different. I expect they are great as well.

Greg H.

Yelp
Highly recommended. Our experience started with the 'boite' cocktail, a surprisingly good version of an old fashion with smoke! We ordered from the ala carte menu and recommend the Brussels sprouts and rockfish. Excellent service too!!! Update: just ate at Chez Boulay and now feel Légende is much better than Boulay. The food is more focused.

Eric N.

Yelp
Excellent overall experience. The food really stood out as very flavorful with unique ingredients that I haven't tasted before. The focus was on local Boreal ingredients and every dish was superb. The tasting menu was a sampling of dishes on the menu and I highly recommend it. Service was great and the wine pairings worked very well with each dish. Very good value for the quality of ingredients and unique flavors.

Aramis P.

Yelp
The best fine dining restaurant in Quebec and one of the best tasting meals of my life. Of 135 Michelin starred restaurants I have dined at worldwide (including 6 of the 8 world #1s), this lands in the top 20 in terms of sheer deliciousness (it is THAT good). Considering the 6 course tasting menu is only 95 CAD (about 75 USD), this is unquestionably one of the best value for money fine dining restaurants in the world! For those of you who are fine dining gurus, don't let some of the presentation of the dishes in my pictures (which isn't on the level of artistry as 2-3 Michelin restaurants) confuse you. Because the flavors here are world class. Legende's focus is on boreal cuisine, and whoever is behind the curtains cooking at this place knows EXACTLY how to maximize flavors (sweets, creams, savories, all of it). On 3 separate dishes, I literally closed my eyes because the tastes were so good and so unique, and I needed to tune out the rest of the world as I savored every bite. I cannot wait to come back to Quebec literally just to eat here again. A food and life experience highlight.

Dude H.

Yelp
When we arrived a staff member greeted us and took our coats then showed us to our table. They brought us a pine scented towel to wash our hands. We got water and drinks my wife had a watermelon espresso martini she loved it and wants to make it at home. We got the six course tasting menu. Our first plate had three items all of which were delicious and I'd order all again from grilled oysters, shrimp balls (my wife's favorite), and pork belly (my favorite) of the first plate. Next came trout tartar so good maybe the highlight for me. Next was butternut squash with curry. A ball fried to perfection, the curry flavor was amazing. Next round of drinks was a lager Tcheque maybe a little bit more flavor than the typical lager but really nice and tasty. My wife had a Chardonnay that she loved. Next came the pork and mushroom dumplings. Three dumplings with mushrooms pork and more mushrooms cooked perfectly in a beef broth that was perfect on its own. That course came with sour dough bread and the most amazing butter. This could have been my number one favorite dish but I love the trout. The main course came next canard duck cooked to perfection really nice sauce. Then came this dessert puff pastry filled with black walnut and black garlic cream wow what a combination. Not overly sweet but very good and delicious. Big fan and definitely recommend the tasting menu.

Christin N.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. We did the 5 course chef's slection with the wine pairing. Everything was fantastic!

David K.

Yelp
We had the prix fixed menu. Every dish was a fantastic mix of fresh flavors. Fell in love again with chanterelles.

Alex J.

Yelp
As much as I appreciated the aesthetic and the philosophy - it was a miss for me. There was a lot of work put into the dishes and it was evident that there was thought and care put into the experience. Something was wrong. Nothing stood out! Which is absurd to say because everything was stunning. We dine often and eat very very well. And I'm hardly ever lacking the words. But Legende didn't inspire me. It felt like the local products were forced together in combinations to fit the philosophy but didn't make for enjoyable plates. And when you have a series of dishes that miss the mark in a fixed menu, you can't connect with the chef or the story. I'm still baffled.

Kristin J.

Yelp
Highly recommend La Légende restaurant to try high end Québécoise cuisine!! As American tourists, we very much wanted to experience local cuisine and ingredients. We found Légende online and were immediately impressed with the chef's inspiration: to only use ingredients found and grown in Quebec! When we arrived, the staff were very polite and had us seated. They asked to take our coats as well. Our waiter was a sweet woman, she explained the restaurant's ambition and how they don't even utilize lemon or pepper in their dishes since they are not local to Quebec! Only the wines, etc. are from other regions of the world. I had a local wine as per the waiter's recommendation but I felt the cocktails were more unique. My partner tried the whiskey cocktail with black walnut--fantastic flavor and excellent execution. We ordered the $89 CAD tasting menu and it was absolutely worth that much and more! Every dish was made to perfection and each time it was brought out, the person serving explained eloquently which ingredients were used. The descriptions truly told a story about the culture and history of the region! Each dish was truly a concoction of flavors I have never before experienced. I was amazed at the chef's knowledge of local berries, meats, etc. The dessert was particularly incredible, I can still recall the taste of the delicate ice cream and apple muesli influence. Many thanks to the team for making our night in Quebec City!!

Gerard L.

Yelp
it was great from start to finish! We were greeted by Phillip who led us to a nice table and explained all the food choices that we very much appreciated. Table service was excellent and the food was amazing. We were visiting from Boston and kidded that we would go back just for dinner:) Thank you for making our last evening in your beautiful city really nice!

Jill B.

Yelp
As folks who are not from the area, this restaurant was well-worth the visit-- it's more of an event than a meal, really. Our tasting menu experience took three hours (9:00 reservation, left at midnight). The waiter explained that everything on the menu, to the extent possible, is from Quebec. No citrus, no chocolate, and they go light on things like black pepper. Since we're from New England in the US, there were many interesting new ingredients and combinations, which made this experience fun. Brussels sprouts with sea buckthorn. Fried kombu. Sweet clover bisque. Bison skirt steak. Dessert was strawberries with jalapeño sauce. Now, not all of these were successful: In our opinion, some dishes had way too much going on. But it was a lot of fun to taste, everything was beautifully presented, and the service was very good. I doubt this would be my regular go-to if I lived nearby, but I absolutely recommend this experience for folks from out of town.

Gina M.

Yelp
Stunning meal. Absolutely unreal. A very very special place. I can't even tell you what our favorite course was because they were all stunning.

Kerry C.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful inside with plants and beautiful lamps. The food is delicious and even better since it's locally sourced. Everyone working was so nice, helpful, & explained how all the courses were created.

Harris H.

Yelp
This place is everything I ever wanted in a restaurant. The crew was awesome and friendly. The price is fair considering the food you are getting and the service. I would love to come back here someday. It's not as posh as other chef operated restaurant out there and is pretty laid back. Chef Elliot Beaudoin food is simple yet sophisticated to taste. I love this place! This was out last stop during our honeymoon in Quebec! Thank you!

Alisher I.

Yelp
Our family favorite restaurant in Quebec. We love places where there is a festive atmosphere, which is created by everything - from the staff to the atmosphere! This is the place with great food! What else do you need for a good time!!! Definitely recommend for a family budget and vacation in beautiful Canada Our special thanks to Tatyana Gersh

Kidae H.

Yelp
Best meal of 2019 Had the 6-course tasting menu with the wine pairing. Farm to table cooking inspired by the nordic "boreal" philosophy Each dish was local, original, creative, and delicious. parfait! 5/5 A must visit in Quebec City

Hungry L.

Yelp
Haha, this was a bougie (pretentious) place. Food was not that great and service was lacking. There are many other options in Quebec City such as Le Clocher Penche. There is a reason they don't have 1 Michelin star.

Sue D.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant with a unique dinner and drink menu. They also offer a 7 course chef tasting (it is a little pricey). We chose from the Al a Carte menu. I had the Hake fish and my friend had the Bison flank steak. Both meals were delicious and we cleaned our plates. Note that the portions are on the smaller size. Drinks were delicious and so was dessert. Staff was very helpful with deciding our menu choices. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Richard B.

Yelp
Wanted a light meal and came to this high ranked restaurant only to find out its specialty is a 6 course tasting menu. Ceviche with god knows what and cucumber. Rutabaga fettuccine (too rich)... lamb crudo (too acid)...Demi quail ( I don't understand why all I taste is oil and peanut?) main course venison with leeks. Insipid. It tasted like an over ambitious new chef that was all technique and no flavor. I give kudos to the staff that realized I didn't eat dinner and didn't charge me. On that note and in terms of service, all was excellent

Bernard N.

Yelp
When looking for a nice meal, this is not a place that I would recommend. Why? Because their tasting menu is, shall we say, pretentious. Combining ingredients is an art. And La Légende hasn't master it. From starter to dessert, there was barely one or two dishes that were worthy. For example, the opening dish, a hot clam salad with pickled mussels, sea urchin sauce and more, was a mixed of so many flavours that it was difficult to recognize any. In another dish, basil, tarragon and chives were mixed for a sauce. It was like putting together all the herbs you have in the garden. Would it give a good result? Of course not. I strongly recommend that the Chef deconstructs his dishes and revise their combinations. There are some great restaurants in Quebec City that offer delicious combinations of ingredients like at Rioux&Pettigrew for example. Have a try!

Yelp
Amazing dinner in Quebec City. Was recommended to try Legende as the one place to go if you have one night in QC and it did not disappoint. I recommend doing the tasting menu which is 79 CAD. Food quality is amazing. They use local ingredients and are very communicative about where they source everything. There's no published list of dishes from the tasting menu but we found that everything we ordered was available on the regular menu. That being said, when you add up the prices for everything, for the amount of dishes you get with the tasting, it's totally worth it. Scallop tartare was fresh and light - a great way to start. Beets were likewise a nice combination of vegetable and ricotta cheese. The duck breast was perfectly cooked with the Jerusalem artichoke complementing it wonderfully. Elk tataki had great flavors to go with a surprisingly un-game-y elk. Loved the squash, especially the apple butter underneath. Everything was delicious but the highlight was actually recommended by the server as something to get in addition to all the dishes that come with the tasting menu. The duck foie gras is absolutely amazing. Don't usually like foie gras, it's a little bit heavy. But their's is an incredible mix of sweet and savory as well as a hint of sour from the berry. Must have had a sweet tooth because dessert was amazing. The churros are to die for. Covered in mousse, it rivaled fresh ones in Mexico City. The Honeyberry cream was a perfect mix of sweet flavors and textures. All in all - Legende is a must have. Great food, great service. Tasting menu all the way.

Yelp
This restaurant is whack. This place is the epitome of being so obsessed about what you could do, without considering if it would taste good. The creativity here is off the charts: zucchini 3 ways, pesto made from cucumbers 2 ways, pairing kimchi with hummus, pickling the weirdest stuff, etc. It was fascinating to taste, but the fact of the matter was none of it tasted good. We are extremely adventurous eaters, but we also appreciate delicious food that works. The portions were small; we left Legende unfulfilled in more than one way. amouse bouche - pea hummus with homemade kimchi on a puffed rice crisp. One of ours was really tasty - the contrast between the kimchi and hummus was beautiful. Unfortunately, the other chip didn't have much kimchi, and tasted bland. Tortellini - the pasta itself was DELICIOUS, but everything else around it was so strange. The chorizo in the pasta was spicy, meaty, and really packed a flavourful punch. The sea urchin sauce was alright. But the most offensive part of the dish (and the entire meal) were the mussels. Good god, what on earth did they do to those poor mussels? Without exaggeration, each mussel tasted like a literal salt & vinegar chip. I don't know if it was an issue with the brining fluid or if they tried to (gasp!) pickle the mussels???, but those mussels were downright appalling. Halibut (ran out of mackerel) - the halibut was slightly over cooked unfortunately, and the ingredients did not make sense together. The pesto was "interesting", but not delicious. We caught ourselves having to analyze each ingredient in this dish as if it were an academic exercise, rather than just enjoying it. Galloway beef - 3 types of zucchini, beef in a chimichurri sauce. This dish was the only good one. It was genius to pair the pickled zucchini with the grilled zucchini with the dried zucchini. We had never had these flavours together, especially with the beef - which was perfectly cooked. If you're looking to taste new ingredients, flavours, and preparations, even if it may not be tasty, this is the place to go. If you're trying to eat something tasty, we wouldn't recommend this place. Also, we don't usually comment on this, but service was impeccable - the wait staff was incredibly kind and professional.

Yelp
From start to finish, with great service, this food packs flavour punch after punch, with unexpected ingredients and playful presentations. As much an experience as a meal, and not to be missed!!

Yelp
Écúurant!! Hands down the best meal I had in Quebec. Every dish I had was a solid 5 stars, even the rosemary bread & butter was fantastic. ==Chicken liver mousse: Light and airy, topped off with an edible flower ==Halibut from Lundy Bay: The fresh halibut melts in your mouth without the greasiness. The local berries pop in your mouth, evoking summer memories of tossing water balloons from the second story window... ==Appalachian venison tataki: Oh, deer! Perfectly seared. Resist the urge to gobble this down in under 30 seconds ==Guinea fowl: Tender, juicy...something I don't say often about white meat! ==Poached pear with honey ice cream, fir mousse, and flax seed nougatine: Fantastic way to end our meal. Nothing was too sweet and the nougatine provided that satisfying crunch. SERVICE: 5 stars! We decided to have dinner outside to take advantage of the perfect summer weather, and they even caught (and released) a spider that was making a web right above our table. I left feeling full, happy, and relaxed. If you're in Quebec, I highly, highly recommend you eat here!

Yelp
We had an outstanding meal here. We got a sturgeon dish, a lobster salad, and tortellini. Everything was delicious, and seemed uniquely designed by the restaurant. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely come again when we are next in Québec!

Yelp
The tasting menu did NOT meet expectations at all. Légende is one of the two restaurants from Quebec on Canada's 100 Best. Unfortunately, the experience I had there was not nearby as close as the other restaurants in the area. To begin with, the service is not great - waiters are unenthusiastic and do not hold a professional demeanour. Although we were a group of 12, we did not have ANY utensils changed for our 6-course tasting menu. More importantly, dishes were not carefully plated and inspected before bringing out to guests. The shrimp ravioli had a half cut shrimp on the cucumber garnish. There was a random crouton in the melted cheese asparagus dish. Also, the scallop dish featured ONE scallop... quite a sad dish. That being said, some other dishes were good like the venison tartare and the dessert, but it could not make up for the rest of the experience. The cocktail was very fun as well as you could choose your own spirit and tonic. For 80$, I will surely visit another restaurant for a tasting menu. For those who want to experience good tasting food but care less about the plating and value, this could be a good choice.

Yelp
By far one of the best culinary adventures we've ever had! Instead of the tasting menu, we opted to choose our dishes. It was recommended that we choose 2-3 dishes per person due to their smallish sizes. Every single dish was utterly fantastic. Beautifully plated, such pride taken in each dish, each of one a work of art. We sat outside and were well-attended-to throughout our meal. We were grateful that the servers were able to speak English although we tried our best with French! Everyone was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu items. The dishes we ordered: 1. Smoked Sturgeon: Boston lettuce, herbs puree, gel spiced with herbs (so amazing!) from Distillerie du Fjord 2. Half lobster poached in butter: rye cavatelli (lovely texture!), grilled sucrine lettuce, cider sweet grass foam (very unique, adding a sweet flavor to the dish when mixed in) 3. Nordic shrimp vegetable "ravioli": wild wasabi, fermented sea buckthorn gel, cucumber, pickled kombu. 4. Venison tartar and sea herbs: corn chip, nori pretzel, samphire. 5. Honeyberry glazed guinea fowl: green peas, wild mushrooms, yarrow cornbread, fermented honey berry gel. 6. Market's fresh fish (halibut) with seasonal garnishes including fresh peas, also had puffed rice (crispy!). 7. Dessert: Strawberry and tomato mousse cake: lemon-thym sponge cake, honeyberry crumble, strawberry sorbet. Soooo delicious! They also brought us two pieces of chamomile bread with sunflower oil for dipping. This was excellent; you could taste the malted grains in the bread. Also they brought us each a chilled halibut morsel with a thin crouton, fresh herbs, and almond slice. I wasn't really sure what I was eating but it was heavenly! This is the perfect spot for the adventurous eater who is visiting Old Quebec!

Yelp
Had an amazing time here! Service was welcoming and friendly throughout our whole dinner. The food was good but nothing amazing so I don't feel the need to return when I'm back in Quebec City. Overall a solid experience.

Yelp
I've been here twice now. Once last year and just yesterday. Both times were amazing. Their menu is seasonal, so the specific food I ate won't necessarily be your experience. In addition, their food is all locally sourced, so expect game meats, fresh seafood, and other creative proteins. The food was magnificent and rich. We pretty much ordered the entire menu. Our favorites were the cricket ravioli (beautiful flavor and the mushrooms added so much depth), the duck (the duck replaced the quail and turned out to be amazing; flavorful black pudding and i wish we had more of it), and the pork belly (beautiful crispy skin with incredible sides that balanced the rich fatty meat). We also had the elk tataki, venison, mackerel, cod (replaced halibut), scallops, and fois gras mousse. The drinks menu was also expansive. They do source alcohols from all over the world, and they have a solid wine list as well. We had a sparkling wine cocktail, pear nectar, and a bottle of Italian wine. For dessert, we had two beautiful dishes. The first was the candy cap parfait. Candy cap is a mushroom found in Canada that tastes like maple syrup. Fantastic dish that's complemented with candied lichen and a berry crumble. The second, which was my favorite, was a sea blackthorn curd dish that had an incredible balance of sweet and sour. The dish is also vibrant in color and was presented beautifully. I hope you enjoy your experience here. I know every time I come back to Quebec I'll be making a stop here.
