"I found the Lowertown spot currently appears closed: although its website describes the shutdown as temporary, messages have gone unanswered and the reservation line is completely shut down. The ambitious bar and restaurant opened in late April of this year by owner Nabeel Ahmad with chef Lucas Almendinger at the helm, and the cocktails were put together by Jesse Held and Jeff Erkkila’s Earl Giles company. The menu was global with just a touch of formality, aiming for comfortable, intimate dining. Calls requesting comment have so far gone unanswered about what comes next, including whether it will continue as Elephant Bar or reopen as something else." - Joy Summers

I've just read previous reviews and wonder what people mean by unpleasant service, as our experience was the complete opposite. Staff were absolutely brilliant, they gave us recommendations, came to check in but weren't pressuring us to rush or ignoring our table either, it was simply perfect. The food was delicious, and the prices were great especially considering that the place is in the heart of Saint-Paul. My husband had a gratin with his faux-filet and said it was the best he had ever had. I'd recommend to anyone looking for some an authentic French menu in a lovely bistro with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Popped in for breakfast and it was so fun because the woman who served us was bril, really great to chat with! We had baguette with jams, pot of tea and coffee. Definitely recommend you visit here for breakfast. And HELLO to our server, if your are reading this we are back home in Scotland and people do wear kilts here🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. See you next time😁

I totally recommend this place! The waitress taking care of us was the best, the food really good and the vibe was very cozy. We have had the onion soup and the dish with fish and are happy to discover this place :)

Very good place to eat in Paris, located in the city center (St Paul, 4th district) They offer a variety of French food! The service is rapid, the staff are very friendly (specially the young waiter), they have a nice terrace! The food is very good and the prices very reasonable!

They will scam you with "pint" that are not : they use glasses with a capacity of 37.5 cl (see photo). This behavior has to stop so I don't recommend this location. Except the dishonesty of the owner, waiters are welcoming and kind.

Great atmosphere and service. Tables and chair located outside on the street with the occasional vehicle driving past. Lovely cocktails in the happy hour🍹🍸….and the best ‘frites’ I’ve ever tasted!🍟😃

The seating is very pleasant and quiet. We had a very good vegetarian quiche, and the waiter was also very friendly. The prices are fair during happy hour. We found one point very negative: we ordered 0.25 liters of white wine and received a maximum of 0.15 liters. Only after repeated requests were we refilled, but (see other reviews) that's annoying and seems to be a bit of a system here? Otherwise, we definitely recommend this place.

We researched this restaurant online and they did not disappoint. We went there for breakfast, but their kitchen was not open till noon. We still got drinks and croissants but we came back later for lunch and we got the fish and chips. The fish was the best. I have tasted all year, golden brown and crispy and not watery and had a nice flavor and the fries were also golden brown crispy the staff are amazing and polite and did good with their English. Even though my wife speaks French this one is definitely a winner if you are in Paris, also the amazing people-watching in the Marsais district. You can sit inside or outside at the tables.

Attentive and friendly service in the most darling of spaces in the City of Lights. My friend and I popped in for a beverage break and came back later for a late lunch with hopes to enjoy their pot roast special. Alas, it was all gone when we came back but another beef dish hit the spot. A fantastic place. I highly recommend it!

Nice cafe in the lovely Le Marais neighborhood to just grab a drink and people-watch! Located right next to the St Paul station, L'Elephant is perfect to sit down for a nice cup of coffee before you have to ride the metro to somewhere, which was what I did! Each cup is less than €5 so nothing too expensive. Definitely recommend this cafe for a drink stop in Le Marais!

I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast!! The food was outstanding and there was a great breakfast deal. For 8.90 euro I got: a croissant, yogurt with honey, omelet, salad, fresh squeezed oj, and coffee! Everything was high quality, fresh, and so delicious. Plus the staff is so incredibly friendly!! They were so nice we ate here twice and both times the waiters and the lovely barista made us feel like regulars. It was a great experience, I highly recommend this place!

My husband has called me Babar for years, primarily because I remember the tiniest of detail, but also a little because I am somewhat clumsy. I started randomly receiving gifts depicting elephants. I was so excited to find old cartoon prints along the banks. So you can imagine how easy a choice it was when we were looking for an afternoon pick-me-up in Marais. We got a quaint table in the back, where we ordered a hot chocolate and a cappuccino, both were exceptional and sat for a couple of hours engaged in a philosophical conversation surrounded by old french art depicting elephants. What could be better? Nil.

This place is fantastic. It's pretty small, but the staff is fun and boisterous. They make you feel right at home, and they'll even pour you free wine and champagne if they're in the right mood. It feels like you've dropped by for a dinner at a friend's. One time, I had a remarkable steak tartare there. Overall, some of my best nights in Paris started at L'Éléphant du Nil. Vive l'éléphant!

Cute French bistro. I liked the veggies stuffed with meat dish. They have amazing dessert, so you don't even have to order lunch and can just skip to coffee and dessert. The apricot tarte was sooo good, and if you're into chocolate, so was their chocolate cake. They also have a variety dish where you try like 4 small desserts. I'd give this 3.5 stars to 4 stars, but will do 4. Oh, and the duck dish is kind of small and the duck is meh...not much seasoning.
