A Memphis BBQ landmark since 1922, Leonard’s is praised by Garden & Gun and local publications not just for its pork but for its signature ‘Bar-B-Q Dog’—a split hot dog topped with pulled pork, slaw, and tangy BBQ sauce. This regional specialty embodies the city’s love for combining barbecue and comfort food in unexpected ways, all served with a side of Southern hospitality.

I had an amazing time. The food was absolutely amazing. I personally ordered a BBQ sandwich plate with Greens and Baked Beans. The wait for lunch was very short and the staff was extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Will be coming back!

Visiting from Texas and family had mentioned the legend of Leonard’s. The food was great but greater than the food was our server Milik! Professional, polite, happy and attentive.

My husband used to love their BBQ when they were at the previous store years ago. This was our first time at the new place. The service was amazing. The food was ok. My husband said the slaw was the same as he remembered. I'm not big on pie, but my husband liked the ice box pie and likes frozen grocery store pecan pie better. All good, the pie was comped because I asked for sauce on the side. Mine came out with sauce not on the side. The Server felt horrible so he insisted on giving us pie. I prefer Commissary's BBQ over Leonard's. To each their own 😁

I wanted to give Leonard's a couple of tries under the new ownership before I left a review. I have dined in, had take out, and eaten at a catered event. 5 stars across the board! Each time, the rib meat was so tender, and cooked to perfection, you could pull it clean off the bone with your fingers! My favorite thing about the ribs and the pulled pork, are they are served dry, with the sauce on the side. They don't rely on the sauce for flavor, you choose how much you want to have. The sauce is warm (doesn't cool down the meat) and delectable, a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The slaw is a vinegar mustard style, so it compliments the BBQ and doesn't mask the flavor. The onion rings are a must. The best part is the take out and party were equally as good as dining in (the onion rings are better dining in, but I can't pass them up 😉). If you were a fan, back in the days when Elvis was a regular, or you are looking for BBQ cooked in that fresh old time style, Leonard's is the place. It's very reasonably priced, too. They have a spaghetti menu as well, which is great if everyone doesn't want BBQ. I haven't tried it, but I heard it's excellent.

Food was still good as I remember it being at their previous location! Although I do miss the buffet the quality has not waned one bit! I would recommend getting the ribs “muddied” which means sauce and dry rub lathered on the ribs 🔥😋

Okay prices and food was good, especially the dry rub ribs. However, portions were not impressive at all. Atmosphere was more of a fast food joint with no theme or decorations. I received 4 onion rings as a side. Ribs were phenomenal and the big Leonard was a little above average.

Disclaimer: This is not an objective review. I grew up with Leonard's BBQ. It was the gold standard for Memphis BBQ. My father ate Leonard's back in the 1930s and the quality and taste are about the same now. I got the BBQ plate. My only complaint is that I wish I'd gotten the sauce on the side so I could control the quantity on the meat. The sauce is quite sweet. The onion rings were perfect! The breading is light and delicate. Loved them. The roll was the best one I've had in a long time. It was tender and tasty.

Was excited to try new BBQ & they didn't disappoint! Sauce is a little sweet, but good. Nachos were excellent (cheese is really good!) & the pork sandwich was great! No fatty bits in the meat & their cole slaw, while very unique went well on the sandwich! Beans were excellent & wedge fries were hot! Sweet tea was also amazing! Shout out to our server Terranisha for keeping the sweet tea coming! She was very pleasant as well! We will definitely be back!
