Leonessa is a spritz-heavy rooftop bar we can get behind - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"Generally, we’re skeptical of rooftop bars. They’re usually too hot and too crowded with people drinking $28 vodka sodas. Leonessa, an Italian bar on top of the Conrad Hotel in Battery Park City, is the opposite of that. The bar takes everything we like about a lobby bar—plenty of seating, free snacks (taralli and almonds, in this case), and a cocktail list that has a ton of variety—in the elevator, and sends it to the roof. The drinks, from the person behind Roscioli, Tokyo Record Bar, and The Pearl Box, are wonderful, with spritzes that match the sunny space. We’re partial to the Amalfi Gimlet, which adds oloroso sherry to the gin and lime mixture. The place fills up fast on weekends, so make a reservation. photo credit: Emily Schindler photo credit: Emily Schindler photo credit: Emily Schindler Pause Unmute" - Will Hartman

New Restaurant Openings NYC: April 2025 | Eater NY

"Opened April 3 by Ariel Arce as her first hotel project, this rooftop bar on the 16th floor of the Conrad Downtown replaces the former Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar and offers snacks like rosemary almonds, olives, Parmesan twists, and tapenade; the Italian-leaning watering hole follows other dressed-up spots from the owner such as the 1970s-retro Pearl Box and Tokyo Record Bar." - Emma Orlow

Renee and team went above and beyond making my sister’s 40th Birthday special!! They were extremely understanding, accommodating, and helpful in booking this reservation. Renee was a pleasure to communicate with an ensured while we were there. We were having a fabulous time and the drinks were STUNNING. My guests and sister felt like they were celebrities at this place. We had reservations for dinner at Artrio downstairs and it was fabulous. Even the staff down there was absolutely incredible and insured that we were happy the entire time. The hotel is gorgeous, the people working there were friendly, happy and accommodating. Can’t rave enough about this rooftop and hotel!

Leonessa Bar is a delightful new addition to the Conrad Hotel, offering a chic rooftop experience inspired by the coastal charm of Italy. The ambiance is inviting, with well-appointed seating that remains cozy even in cooler weather, making it an ideal spot year-round. While the number of tables is limited, this exclusivity enhances the overall experience, giving guests a more intimate setting. The drink menu is quite diverse, featuring an impressive selection of wines and cocktails, although prices tend to be on the higher side. The wine offerings are notably impressive, catering to various palates, and guests are treated to complimentary nuts and crackers, adding a nice touch to the overall experience. Although I didn’t sample the food during my visit, it seemed secondary to the main draw of enjoying a drink. Leonessa Bar is undoubtedly a perfect place to unwind, sip on a refreshing beverage, and take in the stunning vistas of the Hudson River. The server was exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring that each guest feels welcomed and well-cared for.

I am not sure why there are bad reviews because I had the most wonderful time here. It was actually easy to get a table. We just walked in. On a Saturday too. The waiters were super friendly and nice. the drinks were soooo good! I loved the scropino so much; it came with little scoop! And then I had the caffe tonico which was also great! They gave us really good olives and cheese sticks which were free that they would replenish. I had a great time. It really felt like I was in an Italian rooftop. The decor is amazing.

Literally the most magical rooftop bar that had us feeling transported to Italy’s Amalfi Coast without ever leaving Manhattan. We adored the Sgroppino, the magical mixture of Belvedere Vodkam Limoncello, Sobetto topped with lime and lemon peel shavings, as well as the Caffè Tonico, a decadent version of an espresso martini with Ketel One vodka, Mr Black, Frangelico and tonic. Perfect for day drinking! Reservations a must, but walk-ins accepted - but go early when they open at 4pm. Follow GlamYourGlass on IG for more recos & tips!

Leonessa is a classy, inviting, and sun encased rooftop bar inside of the Conrad Hotel near the iconic Oculus. The moment you enter the space, it feels as if you’ve walked into an Italian villa on the coast. They have different variations of spritzes and negronis that are creative and fun. They are definitely pricey, but I think you are also paying for the venue and the complementary candied hazelnuts and olives. Our experience was 10/10 and I would go back! I highly recommend getting a reservation ahead of time because they are always booked. Although, we didn’t get a reservation before and they were so kind and made it work for us!

Do NOT go here. It’s tiny, the views are better at so many other rooftops. Horrible experience. The place was empty and they wouldn’t seat us for an extra person. We asked for a straw and they gave us an attitude. I watched the two girls make faces toward us. If you’re working in customer service fix your damn attitude. Do not work in customer service if you’re going to have a rude attitude at 4pm. Period.

Absolutely LOVED this cocktail bar. Drinks were amazing, pricey but expected. Wish there were some more options for snacks to order bc we could’ve sat there all day

Yelp
The perfect sunset girls night! Came her to celebrate with friends and the couch seating made it this elevated rooftop feel relaxed. The drinks were each so different, which was needed for the group! Pro tip! Get the Leonessa Martini if you're in a martini mood but don't want a strong bite

Yelp
Me and my friends came here on a whim since we were in the area on a Saturday around 5pm, and looking for a fun spot for drinks. I remembered that I had this place bookmarked and wanted to check it out, since it was formerly the loopy doopy rooftop bar. We took the elevator up the 16th floor and were immediately greeted by the hostess. Unfortunately, all the tables in the shade were taken but there were several seats at the bar (and while it was hot there was a little bit of shade provided). The ambiance was lovely with lemons everywhere and it felt like you were transported to the Italian countryside. The drink menu is quite extensive and leans into spritz's and lots of fruit forward drinks. We ordered the La Bella Figura, the Isola Grande and the Lei Sai. Everything was delicious and well balanced. They do not have a food menu, but do provide complimentary olives and crackers which is a nice touch. If you're looking for a nice place to grab a drink and looking to be on a rooftop, I would recommend this spot.

Yelp
Came to Leonessa on a Friday night and the view was amazing. The server got mad at us for eating our own food that we brought earlier from dinner which I think is not fair at all if they don't serve food at all other than some complimentary bar crackers and olives. The drinks were pretty good though and really pretty. Service was okay.

Yelp
Cute rooftop bar located in The Conrad hotel. Parking in this area is a nightmare. Bartenders are very friendly and make great unique drinks. $24 per cocktail, complimentary olives and cheese crisp. No food available. Nice views but mostly obstructed, no outdoor area. I had the Sgroppino which was very refreshing and strong, topped with a tasty Belvedere foam.

Yelp
Leonessa is located at the Conrad, on the 16th floor. This rooftop bar is Italian-inspired, and it's great that it offers a weatherproof dining experience all year round! The menu offers various cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits - don't sleep on their little bites/shareables, such as the Parmesan twists and rosemary almonds! The space is beautiful, with comfortable seating! Service was friendly and welcoming. Reservations are recommended! +order shareables +make reservations +friendly staff +located at the Conrad

Yelp
Meh, ultimately not worth the expense. Located at the top of the Conrad. You'll wait probably 5 minutes for one of the two elevators that go to the 16th floor to be available. If you don't have a reservation, you won't get a seat (this isn't totally true: we had a reservation for 915 and left at 10 and walked by a couple who rode the elevator with us up finally getting an impromptu seat). The vibe in my mind strikes Florida beach bar? Everyone that works there is dressed as a candy-striper and the drinks are served in beach-safe containers (plastic). The cocktail menu wasn't so interesting and is exorbitantly expensive (again served in plastic). But you're there for the view, which can be nice. The open air above is exquisite. But if you're looking for a picture along the river this is unfortunately obscured by the shrubbery planted along the railing before the edge that really does an injustice to the scenery. Ultimately, I think there are better options in the area. You'll physically see a nice view but beyond that not sure what the draw here specifically would be.

Yelp
Beautiful location, overlooking the Statue of Liberty. Went around 6pm, was able to catch the sunset behind all the buildings. The staff was so friendly and helpful with the drink suggestions, and gave some bar food options as well. No full food here, just daily bar snacks. Lovely experience, will be back next time I'm in nyc!

Yelp
Cool little spot to grab drinks on a hot day. I had a limonata and enjoyed great views of World Trade Center, Jersey city, uptown nyc Central Park tower. The crowd can be a little pretentious. The staff are cool though. I'd come back

Yelp
This cocktail bar is beautiful! It's on the 16th floor of the Conrad and when it's nice out they'll open up the roof. They gave us some hazelnuts for the table and it was delicious. The drinks were really good but definitely on the pricier side ($25+). The service was great but there was a moment where our glass broke randomly and they told us they'll comp us a drink. The check came and they didn't comp it but it was fixed right away once we told them.

Yelp
Came here after the movies because it's nice out and who doesn't love a rooftop? Such a cute, enclosed space. Went non-alcoholic so I got a limonata. Nothing too crazy, just a canned Italian soda. No tables were available so I stood until a space at the bar was empty. Was pretty busy but staff was attentive. No food served here but they offer complimentary nuts and olives.

Yelp
Great cocktails! It feels very European and it's got a great view of the Statue of Liberty

Yelp
Tried to pop in yesterday for a drink and there were a ton of bar seats open but allegedly reserved for later reservations. Manager was not very kind and the spot was giving tourist and bridge to tunnel vibes over "we want locals to come back often". In theory this spot sounds cool but I fear it may be another tool bag rooftop.

Yelp
Avoid this place at all costs. I visited on a Sunday afternoon with a friend and ordered a Sicilian Limonata and an Amalfi Gimlet -- our total was $35.93 before tip. We paid the bill in full and left, never leaving the tab open. The next day, I was shocked to find two additional charges of $56.62 each on my credit card. I immediately reached out to the establishment via email, but never received a response. The lack of accountability and unprofessionalism is unacceptable. With shady billing practices and management that ignores customers, this place simply isn't worth your time or money.

Yelp
We had an absolutely fabulous evening here. The drinks are delicious, balanced, and strong. The service is so attentive and kind. We loved the low lighting and the fact that it was warm on a chilly night where the temperature was "feels like 25°". Where they really shine is the trio of complementary snacks. A cheese, crisp, a bowl of olives, and a bowl of marinated almonds. We're staying at the Conrad and we absolutely loved this delicious and beautiful bar.
