Where To Side-Sit & People-Watch In London - London - The Infatuation

"The best seat in the house:  The two-top in front of the mirror. It’s sometimes taken by an elderly couple holding hands, drinking wine, and sharing soufflé. What you’re seeing: Crouch End locals who have been friends since school. Gooey bowls of French onion soup. The head chef, flushed and cheery while explaining the specials to a double date. A dining room that’s the raison d'être for restaurants themselves." - jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

The 16 Best French Restaurants In London - London - The Infatuation

"In the Venn diagram of fans of Pixar's Ratatouille, readers of The Sunday Times, and admirers of Keith Floyd, Les 2 Garçons is firmly in the middle. It’s a pulsating maroon lighthouse that runs on comforting confit duck and Crouch End locals who require a drip of its vin rouge. Don’t be surprised to see the chipper chef come out to explain the blackboard, serve your escargots, and stick around for a chat. Your neighbouring table will also more than likely ask you how the onion soup is (it's wonderful) or whether that’s the duck (it is, and back off)." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna

Les 2 Garçons - Review - Crouch End - London - The Infatuation

"Les 2 Garçons is one of those restaurants that glows. It’s a pulsating maroon lighthouse that runs on comforting confit duck and Crouch End locals who require a drip of its vin rouge. In the Venn diagram of fans of Pixar's Ratatouille, readers of The Sunday Times, and admirers of Keith Floyd, Les 2 Garçons is firmly in the middle. On any midweek evening this restaurant heaves with young families, champagne-clinking 70-somethings, and friends going all in on an indulgent French meal. It’s a typically quaint bistro with illustrated plates and adorable little hand-painted butter dishes. Your neighbouring table will more than likely ask you how the onion soup is (it's wonderful) or whether that’s the duck (it is, and back off)—not just out of innate British nosiness, but because you’re pretty much on each others’ laps in this place. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Don’t be surprised to see the chipper chef come out to explain the blackboard, serve your tartare, and stick around for a chat. He’s got the touch of a ballerina when it comes to a tarte fine aux pommes. That said, none of it is earth-shattering cooking. But nor is it trying to be. This is food and a restaurant that’s very difficult not to love, and not to bed in at—which is why absolutely everyone always wants to squeeze in. Food Rundown French Onion Soup Wearing a helmet of molten, gooey cheese and perfectly sweet and rich once you break through, this is exactly what you want from a French onion soup. We’d recommend a turn of pepper. Duck Confit, Lentils, Mushrooms, & Garlic Butter A bistro is best judged by its classics and this duck passes with very good marks. The bird is rich and tender, although not quick falling off the bone. The lentils are suitably woofing with garlic and the variety of meaty mushrooms are far from an afterthought. photo credit: Jake Missing Tarte Fine Aux Pommes The thinking person’s apple tart: a little thinner, a little more refined, but still with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Completely glorious." - Jake Missing

Les 2 Garçons

"The two garçons in question are Robert Reid and JC Slowik, both stalwarts of the London restaurant scene, and their experience is here to see in every element of this immensely likeable French bistro, which is far bigger than their previous place and thus better for coping with demand. Expect all the classics to be found on the menu or blackboard, whether that’s duck confit or escargots; the baba au rhum is not to be missed and the all-French wine list is appealing priced." - Michelin Inspector

Hands down the best French food I’ve ever had – every dish is cooked to perfection and feels so authentic. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are absolutely fabulous – friendly, attentive, and make you feel right at home. It’s officially my favourite spot in the area!

Really great food here. Went for lunch on a Saturday and was not disappointed. Ingredients were fresh and dishes were delicious. We had four starters, two mains and two desserts between 2 and were stuffed by the end of it. Good portions, good service, will definitely return.

Les 2 Garçons is less a restaurant and more a neighbourhood institution. For nearly two decades, the two 'garçons' themselves—Chef Robert Reid, a graduate of the formidable kitchens of Marco Pierre White, and the inimitable host Jean-Christophe Slowik, a veteran of top-tier Parisian and Roux-brother establishments—have provided Crouch End with a perfect slice of Parisian bistro culture. It’s a place of comforting rediscovery, not culinary experiment. The menu is a reassuring roster of the greats, executed with a profound consistency that builds unshakeable loyalty. This isn't a place for trends; it's for the time-honoured classics. The steak tartare is perfectly seasoned, the duck confit achieves that textbook ideal of crisp skin and melting meat, and the escargots arrive swimming in just the right amount of garlic and parsley butter. It’s food that soothes the soul. The atmosphere is always exactly as it should be: the room is tight, the energy is high, and the service is briskly professional in that uniquely Gallic way that prioritises efficiency over fuss. Booking well in advance is essential. Now, a crucial piece of advice: the Tarte Tatin for two must be ordered when you book your table. It is a non-negotiable rite of passage. Arriving as a dark, shimmering, deeply caramelised masterpiece, it is arguably the best in London and worth the visit alone. The Baba au Rhum is also a faultless, spirit-soaked conclusion. Les 2 Garçons isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel; it’s a perfect wheel, delivered every single time. It provides a much-needed anchor of timeless French hospitality, and remains an indispensable cornerstone of the neighbourhood.

Make sure you book before you go! We booked and came in a hot summers day. suffice to say, there is no air conditioning and they had a few oscillating fans but was still suffocating hot inside… Despite that, the food we got was all so delicious. It felt like a very family owned restaurant where the chef cares about each individual dish served. All but one was absolutely delicious… would still come again but not order that one let down. We didn’t quite like the confit ducks it felt dry, the skin had peeled off, and just tasted bland. the sauce was also sub par… not sure how this dish got served when everything else was 5/5. Highly recommended still !

Traditional, perfectly executed food. Good choice of dishes plus a specials board. What is really worth mentioning, is it was extremely good value. I felt the customer is respected, food that does not cut corners, quality ingredients, cooked with care and the plating was assured. Sometimes that is exactly what you want but rarely find. I highly recommend booking at jumping into a taxi for a perfect dinner in a lovely brasserie.

A beautiful meal from start to finish. The staff were courteous from the moment we walked in through the door and the food was just delicious. It’s no wonder it has an excellent reputation as the food is purely wholesome but incredibly flavoursome and tasty. Alongside a great wine menu and cocktails too, it’s worth a trip out of the centre for, if you’re visiting London!

What more can i say than Les 2 Garçons being now my favourite place to eat. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the jovial and wonderful J-C who makes sure to keep a smile on your face. Safe to say we ate like kings from the pictures, i would recommend the Scallops with the endive butter sauce, and the Pear Tarte Tatin as being outrageously good. But by all means our other courses were beyond anything else i’ve had from any other restaurants. To keep an insanely delicious array of dishes and have it be that way consistently throughout the course of our meal made us question how it was possible for food to taste this good. You have to thank the larger than life character that is Chef Robert who you can see in the dining hall taking orders and talking with clients. Which adds a dimension to Les 2 Garçons that you rarely see anywhere else. Anyway if you’ve not been, you’re missing out big time
