"Just imagine: the Île d'Yeu, a pretty little hotel overlooking the sea, a chic, laid-back restaurant, a terrace and a dining area decorated with models of old sailing ships... All in all, a truly charming spot for food lovers. A picture of calm in the kitchen, chef Nawal Rezagui delights diners with her regional and delicious seafood cuisine, peppered here and there with just the right Mediterranean touches (olive oil, coriander, spicy jus, pine nuts, harissa etc): sea bream ceviche with lime and fresh herbs; pollack steamed with seaweed, green cabbage, steamed sweet onion and beurre blanc." - Michelin Inspector

We didn’t stay at the hotel but dined at the restaurant twice, and each time it was exceptional. Easily the best dining experience we had on the island. The poolside setting with views over the sea is both peaceful and pleasant. The service was top notch and above all the food was top level. Our favorite were the gnocchis with a nettle sauce accompaniment, but really all the dishes were of a high standard. Don’t forget to book as not too many covers and quality brings in a lot of clientele!

We just spent 5 wonderful days in the hotel "Les Hautes Mers" and we cannot recommend it enough! It is a small (17 rooms) hotel part of the "Hotels de Fontenille" located on a beautiful small island (ile d'Yeu). The island is surprisingly easy to reach and the hotel will help you arrange your trip if necessary (we took train, taxi and helicopter and it took us only 5 hours door to door from Paris!). The island is also reachable by a ferry. The setting is amazingly beautiful, right on the sea, and the room was very confortable. There is no need for a car: everything is walking distance and electric bikes allow you to reach the other side of the island in less than 30 minutes. The restaurant on site is really good (probably best food on the island) with a very creative chef. The hotel was just reopening for the season when we were there, and the personel was super nice and very competent. Agathe (the Manager) and Bixente (Chef de Reception) were everywhere at once, always ready to help. They had a large team on site busy with last minute trouble shooting and it was fun watching them prepare for what will be, without any doubt, a very busy season. We enjoyed biking all around and walked around the entire island. There are many activities available and we used the very warm pool and jacuzzi despite the relatively cold weather. Score a room while there are some available as it will fill very quickly! They have various types of rooms, but we particularly enjoyed the large suite with terrasse with direct view on the sea. We kept the windows open and felt we were sleeping on a boat! We are already dreaming of coming back. Thank you to this excellent team!

Hotel is excellent. Great location, clean, prefoessional staff. Restaurant needs more staff and better quality dishes. Breakfast could be inproved, desperately needs a new coffee machine.

We liked everything in this new hotel, from the location (the view !) to the amenities, and the spirit which is chic-while-relax. Most importantly, all the staff is utterly kind, friendly, service oriented in many ways, wonderful attitude which seems to be a pattern in this hotel.|Restauration is impeccable, we had breakfasts and lunches and we loved them.|If we’d have one improvement recommendation, at the restaurant, the plat du jour for the lunch menu should change from one day to the other, and there should be other lighter / casual options for lunch (salads / sandwiches) for those not willing to have the same menu as dinner. This will certainly change as this hotel opened recently.|All in all, super well done !!

We stayed in a superior terrace room for one week. The room was well appointed and the terrace was generous, with a gate out to the lawn leading to the swimming pool. No room was above us which was also great. The queen sized bed was comfortable with good linen and nice pillows. The walk in shower was also well appointed. There were lots of places to sit on the lawn outside, which overlooked the sea and a walking path to the port.|My negative comments are: wifi signal was inadequate, the only ventilation was via the patio doors which we had to keep open at night as there is no window and no A/C, the menu for dinner did not change the entire seven days we stayed, the service for dinner was patchy and unprofessional. There is a concession towards the front of the hotel that rents bikes, but we never saw anybody there to ask about the bikes, and the front desk had no information either. For the amount owe spent, nearly €400 per night, the bikes should have been an amenity offered to hotel guests, for free.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Incredible island, tiny hotel (14 rooms?), lovely small garden, pool, hot tub. Had a wonderful time with my young family and dog. Lovely food and staff. The family room was excellent ||Thanks!

If you want unprofessional service combined with the highest price per volume food ever recorded, this is the place to go for dinner!||||Starting with the positive, the food was good when it came and if the staff got it right. Though, I recommend to eat beforehand as the portions are extremely small. The Lobster at €36 consisted of half of a very small lobster(?) tail, a tiny tiny claw with mashed potatoes. ||||The service. ||Yes, I know and appreciate fine dining including excellent service, exquisite surroundings, and top class food and wine. But with slow service, missing two out of 8 starters, serving the wrong wine and on top of it blaming the customers for any misunderstanding, it simply is not good enough. When my wife's main dish eventually came 20 minutes after the others and the waitress explained the reason was we came too early we all had it. ||||I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemies.
