The 24 Best Restaurants In Lyon - Lyon - The Infatuation

"French cuisine is pretty faithfully lard-spiked and not particularly vegetarian-friendly, so locals served Les Mauvaises Herbes a little side-eye when it opened in 2018, and was one of the first restaurants to cater to Lyon’s herbivores. Originally the haunt of yoga pant-wearing yummy mums and dads, it won over both plant-based folks and open-minded carnivores with fancy dishes that are more affordable than most fine-dining places around town. The airy, split-level space feels rustic with a little corner of couches upstairs, and plants spill from the railing over the downstairs area. We love the zucchini and pomelo ceviche, romaine leaf tacos with candied lemon tabouleh, and papas arrugadas, or wrinkly potatoes, in herby green sauce." - anna richards

7 Great Day & Weekend Trips From Paris - Paris - The Infatuation

"French cuisine is pretty faithfully lard-spiked and vegetarian-unfriendly, so Les Mauvaises Herbes was served a little side-eye when it opened in 2018. But it won over both plant-based folks and open-minded meat eaters with fancy dishes that are more affordable than most fine-dining places around town. The airy, split-level space feels rustic, with a little corner of couches upstairs and plants spilling from the railing over the downstairs area. We love dishes like zucchini and pomelo ceviche, romaine leaf tacos with candied lemon tabouleh, and papas arrugadas, or wrinkly potatoes, in a herby green sauce." - sophie friedman

We ordered the cabbage, mushrooms, and fried polenta — expecting polite vegetables, got a full-blown performance instead. The cabbage came out looking all humble, then hit me with smoky, crispy confidence like it had a PR team. The mushrooms were dark, rich, and mysterious — the kind you’d definitely text at 2 a.m. if they were human. And the fried polenta? Golden, crunchy, and so comforting I briefly considered legally adopting it. The staff were effortlessly cool — that rare mix of genuinely nice and “we could all be in an indie band together.” The wine was delightful, slightly chaotic, and made me feel 15% more philosophical by the second glass. By the end I was sitting there, fork in hand, questioning whether I could move here. If vegetables always tasted like this, I’d be a better person by now. Five stars. Would cross borders again for another round.

Because 6 stars aren’t available! Seriously the best vegetarian/ vegan menu I’ve ever had to choose from. I rate on price vs. quality and this needs a new scale for that. But also apart from that, the choices in flavours and the house wines by glass are just magnificent! Many Michelin restaurants can learn from this place if it comes to preparing a true vegan high end dish. A treat!

We went here for my mom's birthday and had a really wonderful experience. Delicious food and wine and a very kind server and other staff who were willing to speak English with us. All vegan menu with the exception of the cheese plate. Highly recommend

I've visited Lyon three times and I've eaten at Les Mauvaises Herbes each visit — all I can say is I love this place! It's such a pleasant, relaxed space, with friendly service, and the food is always creative, wonderfully presented and delicious. We at there last Thursday and everything was fantastic, as expected. Hard to pick a favourite, I did particularly love the miso toast with blood orange, and the pumpkin dessert. All incredible! We will be back :)

Excellent and creative food. The chef made a dessert with green peas, and it was sublime. Even a top restaurant would struggle to pull this off. This place is truly exceptional.

I tried their lunch menu and it was absolutely great value at an attractive price. The food was very curated and the atmosphere quite family-like. I strongly recommend the place as a quick-and-chic lunch option!

We had a very pleasant Saturday lunch, the menu was delicious - all vegan and very creative dishes, with starter and main dishes served with bread on the side. Our highlight was the dessert. The service was very friendly, they brought the English sign to our table, were very attentive in case there were questions and wouldn’t let us run out of water. Also good wine!

Google
Amazing vegan dinner! I asked the waiter his favorite starter, entree and dessert, and got all 3. The flavors were insane, and normally I don't love eggplant, but their eggplant dish was fire! highly recommend if you are vegan or not (I am not). Place is usually busy, so make reservations, as I got turned away the first night. Thankfully I was able to get pulled off the waitlist for the next night.

Yelp
Reservations go quickly and I had to book a week in advance for an open slot. And they do for good reason. The dishes are well executed and the flavors are exquisite. After a few bites, the pastrami betterave was reminiscent of pastrami and the Chou braisé was so so good. Do the full course (entrée, plat, dessert).
