"French cuisine is pretty faithfully lard-spiked and not particularly vegetarian-friendly, so locals served Les Mauvaises Herbes a little side-eye when it opened in 2018, and was one of the first restaurants to cater to Lyon’s herbivores. Originally the haunt of yoga pant-wearing yummy mums and dads, it won over both plant-based folks and open-minded carnivores with fancy dishes that are more affordable than most fine-dining places around town. The airy, split-level space feels rustic with a little corner of couches upstairs, and plants spill from the railing over the downstairs area. We love the zucchini and pomelo ceviche, romaine leaf tacos with candied lemon tabouleh, and papas arrugadas, or wrinkly potatoes, in herby green sauce." - anna richards
