Please note: I am reviewing the restaurant only, and not the hotel.
My wife and I visited Les Toquées on a Saturday night in the middle of summer whilst we were taking a weekend break in Lille. The restaurant is very atmospheric, it is in an lovely period house situated on the banks of a canal, and that has been recently renovated.
We decided to go for the 4 course menu, which is where the chef chooses the courses for you. This was all explained to us by the head chef himself, Monsieur Bernard, who also checked whether we had any dislikes or things we did not eat. He also recommended a wonderful bottle of wine, that was comparable to good Cote D’Or white burgundy, but was about half the price. I won’t spoil the experience by describing each dish in detail, as the menu is meant to be a surprise. 4 courses is actually a 7 course tasting menu plus a couple of amuse bouche to start. I will say that each course is beautifully presented, is original, marries together flavours wonderfully, and is made with love, care, and attention to detail. The dishes are also brought to your table by the chefs themselves, which I really like.
All in all, I highly recommend Les Toquées. The food is what you would expect to get in an established Michelin starred venue, but with a more intimate atmosphere.
