A Food and Wine Lover’s Guide to the Loire Valley | Eater
"Domaine du Closel is a biodynamic winery located in Savennières whose château dates back to the 15th century. It specializes in chenin blancs made with indigenous yeasts and aged on the lees in oak like its cuvée, “Close du Papillon.” It’s sleek and silky yet complex, with notes of honey, butter, vanilla, lemon marmalade, ripe quince, a hint of honeysuckle, and a dry, slightly bitter, slate finish. Closel offers guided tours and tastings in its estate, Château des Vaults, or in the heart of its vineyards, alongside cheese pairings. You can also get a quote for a guided tour of the estate from its owner, Madame de Pontbriand." - Lee Musho

What a lovely place to taste wine. The location is idyllic and the staff are well informed on how to guide you through the Wine tasting. This vineyard has a lovely park associated with it that make for a nice stroll with a guides to help you understand what your seeing. The old building and the lovely ground contribute toward the award winning wines. I would add this to any serious Itinerary of the Loire River . Structured and yet delicate like its wine.,

Absolutely amazing experience.
We walk around the winery and did a wine testing host by the owner. She express all her passion and love for the winery, explaining details from the soil and wine process. Highly recommended ❤️

We booked easily online. We were given a map to explore the vineyards and the park. It is beautiful to walk up to the hill with the vineyards. The tasting was very nice, we got explanations and we could choose what we taste. The production facility was not part of the tour.

One of the great Savennieres winemakers, Evelynne de Pontbriand, is making some of the region's best dry Chenin Blanc wine, and her Domaine is worth a visit-- beautiful grounds, informative staff, wonderful wine.

Lovely experience walking around the Château (the trail takes you up into one of the vineyards) before enjoying a tasting of 3 different wines. Elise was great at talking about the wines and answering our questions. The wines themselves were amazing - complex, flavourful and hit the spot after cycling.

I arranged a self-guided tour and tasting via the Rue des Vignerons website. The self-guided tour was really unique and took us on a walk around the vineyard and grounds of the property - as well as the vines we saw some interesting wildlife on the walk. After the walk we were treated to a tasting of the wines. The young woman who presented the wines to us spoke excellent English and explained the different characteristics of the wines.

Beautiful wine tasting experience. The wine expert who gave us the tour was amazing, so much knowledge and information about their wines, it truly was fascinating. We learned new things and asked loads of questions.
Their surroundings/grounds is worth having a walk in, beauty everywhere! We were really happy with the wines we purchased and the overall experience. It made our day!
