We had a fantastic trip to Leshan to see the Giant Buddha. Taking the high-speed train from Chengdu to Leshan Railway Station (乐山站) was super convenient, with the ride lasting just about an hour. Once we arrived, we hopped in a taxi (you can take a bus too), which took around 30 minutes to reach the entrance. From there, a quick shuttle ride (about 10 minutes) and a short walk of around 400 meters brought us to the top view of the Buddha. The view from above was breathtaking, but the real experience came when we followed the path down to the base of the statue. It’s about a 20-minute walk, but the journey is totally worth it. The sheer size and detail of the Buddha are beyond impressive, and seeing it from both the top and the bottom really gives you a full appreciation of its magnificence. It’s a bit of a hike, but such an unforgettable experience!

The most remarkable Giant Buddha of Leshan, carved out of a hillside in the 8th century and looking down on the confluence of three rivers. At 71M height, the largest Buddha in the world. Either climbing up as about 1 hour+ or river cruise to visit the Buddha statue. Preferable by river cruise to have an overview of the Buddha statue. Worth to visit this amazing site.

The buddha statue is breathtaking as you will be amazed by the strong wills and faith of the builders in ancient Chinese history. All the carving are done by hands and simple tools only. Be aware of the walking distance (around 15-20 minutes) from the ticket office to the pier when you chosen to visit the buddha by ferry. If u hire a private car, just inform your driver to drop off at the parking near the pier to save some walking time & effort. All ticketing is recommended to be conducted via its Wechat account. You need to redeem your ticket at the ticketing office.

I decided to take an early high speed train from Chengdu and a taxi from the station straight here. Got here about 8am and didn't regret it. There were no queues and plenty of time to take photos. I can see they have line extensions like in Disneyland so I'm expecting it to be super packed at some points. It was getting a bit full when I was leaving around 10am-ish. I loved it. Then I went to the town about a 5 minute taxi ride from here. Definitely worth a trip from Chengdu. Especially for me, on my journey to see the weird and the wonderful 💪

What an impressive place to visit. First found out about Leshan Buddha from the cartoon movie Abomidable Snowman and have been on our bucket list. It does not disappoint. We joined the tour on Trip.com. which includes the Panda Bear base . It was well worth the price paid. Lots of explanation from the wonderful tour guide Mark. If you are considering to go by boat do take note that it may not be available due to low tide. Highly recommend to visit this place.

The Leshan Giant Buddha is an awe-inspiring historical landmark that we had the pleasure of visiting by ferry, which offers a unique and breathtaking view of the statue. For those interested in a more immersive experience, the site can also be reached by walking along the scenic route. The Buddha, carved into the hillside, stands as a beautiful testament to ancient craftsmanship and devotion. It's truly worth the visit, offering not only a glimpse into history but also a serene atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression. Make sure to take your time to fully appreciate the grandeur of this cultural treasure.

Very accessible by boat, but if the river level is too low, you need to take a long walk. Quite a sight to behold. Photos are easy, and it is nice to appreciate it from the comfort of the boat with no crowds.

There are 2 ways to see the Buddha statue. By a boat ride on the river where you can see the whole 71m tall Buddha. However, the boat services maybe suspended due to weather and river conditions. This time, we had to take a short hike which was not suitable for some old folks or with walking disability. It's all steps and it takes about 20mins to get there. Along there way, you can see some artifacts which was crafted in the walls of the hill in ancient times. When you reach the top, normally it will be crowded around the Buddha statue. We had to. Slowly go close the the edge to view the Buddha from top to bottom angle. Here, you can also get a good view of Leshan city. Of course when one goes up, one must also come down. Coming down, we walked pass a temple with Buddhist scriptures engraved into the rocks. Lastly, we took the electric buggy back to the main entrance.
