Summer days can be scorching, so I highly recommend visiting the Grand Buddha at night—it's pleasantly cool and much less crowded. However, note that the site isn’t open every evening, and some areas may have restricted access.* Nearby, there are a few temples are also worth a visit if you have time.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site serves as both a recreational and religious destination, blending fascinating ancient history with impressive modern preservation efforts. Visitors can either take a leisurely climb to the top to admire the giant Buddha up close or enjoy a view of the statue from a cruise boat below. Towering at over 70 meters, believe to be the tallest stone statue in the world. The descent down the narrow, mountainside steps is quite steep, adding to the adventure. Overall, it’s a captivating and memorable experience.

From the entrance, do take a walk along the boulevard where it’s so shady and windy. Numerous Buddhist’s sayings were placed along the way. Very interesting and informative. Of course, the Buddha statue was very impressive but the climb to his feet was pretty narrow and perilous for older folks and children. Take that into consideration for the climb down. Otherwise, take the boat for a better view up.

This is the largest stone Buddha statue in the world, 71 m high, more than 1,300 years ago. This is the intersection of three rivers, the water flows very fiercely causing many boats to sink. Feeling sorry for that scene, Venerable Hai Thong went to raise money to carve this giant Buddha statue to suppress and make this river more peaceful. After many generations, nearly 100 years, the statue was completed. After entering the gate of the relic site, tourists have two ways to get to the Buddha Statue. The first way is by road, through the stairs, through the mountain to reach the foot of the Buddha Statue. The second way is by bus and to the river wharf and from the river there is a boat going along the river to see the statue. By boat, you can see the statue from afar more clearly. The time to visit by boat is about two hours and can be longer. If you go by road

The Leshan Giant Buddha, a 71-meter (233 ft) tall stone statue, built between 713 and 803, is the tallest pre-modern statue in the world and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Have always seen the status on TV and have always wanted to visit. Unfortunately during my visit, the left leg was under construction for renovation, but the overall experience was still amazing. There was so many things to explore and see. Truely a site to behold and hope to visit again soon.

One of the must-see attractions when visiting Chengdu although it is about 2 hours away in the city of Chengdu. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site of exceptional cultural significance and the first place where Buddhism became established in China. We went by ferry and had an amazing view from the front of the Giant Buddha before hiking up to view the head of the Buddha.

Withstanding the test of time since the Tang dynasty, this giant Buddha is an example of human ingenuity. Luckily the water level was high enough for the boats to operate. The sky was sunny and not foggy. Minimum of 100 passengers for the boat to leave. Best view is on the upper level starboard side. The boat will stop in front of the Buddha for pictures. The fare was $70rmb.

If you remember, we actually missed this boat ride 2 days back because it was low tide. This morning, we were finally able to confirm that the boat rides would be available and we reached the boarding area at about 9am. The boat ride to reach the stone-carved buddha statue took about 10 minutes and it is the world’s largest stone-carved statue, listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Architecturally, it was beautifully carved into the mountain. We also noticed that it was carved quite deep into the mountain. Definitely alot of effort needed to remove the rocks from the mountain. It was also shared by Xiao Zhu (our guide) that the stones moved were placed onto the river which reduced the erosion of the mountain... For our full review, visit 2bearbear today!
