We came from Dublin, Ireland and a friend recommended this bakery to me and it did not disappoint. The first time I came, I got the rocky road and I think this is a great option although I'm not a fan of the almonds in rocky road. 😅 I think it's just a personal preference. The second time I visited before our flight, I got the double chocolate chip cookie and peanut butter. Had zero expectations for the peanut butter but it was so good!! Wished I'd bought more back to Ireland. 😅🤤 In a way, you could say we ate and left no crumbs 🔥

While walking Newbury Street I came across this popular bakery… having seen lines outside of it at other locations, but never going in, I went in this time because there was no line. The smell inside was amazing! I wish I could take a pic of the smell alone!! Service was quick and friendly and I ordered a slice of banana chocolate bread. The slice was thick and the bread was moist and tasted amazing!!

Google
Delicious cookies that can ruin any diet. We tried the double chocolate chips (melted chips inside the tasty dough) and the dark chocolate peanut butter which had chucks of peanut crumble. Both excellent - not that sweet and very tasty - and the price asked is fair.

Google
It smells absolutely wonderful in this bakery. Everything looks amazing and I am sure it is. However, this cookie (the double chocolate chip) is more than $5 and it was far too sweet for my taste. I could see and feel the sugar granules in my cookie. It was a really rich cookie. It was good but like, it is a cookie. Can't be bad. I probably should have chosen a different cookie. The shop is so pretty and nice though. I would recommend going here but I personally did not enjoy my cookie. There were a lot of other options though.

Google
Softest and chewiest cookie that I’ve had. These cookies are jam packed with chocolate chips and rich ingredients and buttery savors. I recommend buying some in bulk so that you can go home and freeze these. Eating frozen cookies are even more chewey and another level of experience. Expensive side because 4 cookies are $22.

Google
First visit here. Got the chocolate chip cookie. Huge and full of chips. $7 which is reasonable. Cooking was crisp/ harder outside and softer inside. Flavor was good but not the best I've had. Servers were friendly.

Google
For my first visit, I tried the signature chocolate chip walnut cookie that started it all. $5.25 was quite expensive for a cookie, but the cookie was very heavy. I liked the crispiness of the outside and the thick, gooey center. The walnut taste was distinguishable but subtle. I definitely recommend heating up the cookie to melt the chocolate chips because it tasted better that way. However, it also tasted fine at room temperature. The inside had a cool mural of Boston but no seating. However, there are seats outside, which would be nice in the summer. It was empty when I went, so service was fast.

Went twice on this trip to Boston! I've been to the one in New York as well, and they both never disappoint! Purchased the make way for ducks canvas bag and I love it. The staff are always pleasant and super kind and helpful. Everything was superb. 100% recommend 💕

Yelp
If you're a cookie lover (or just a cookie monster at heart), Levain Bakery is your new sweet paradise! Usually, the line outside stretches like cookie dough--both ways! But we lucked out, sneaking in during work hours, and only waited five minutes. As soon as you step inside, it's like BAM! Freshly baked cookie magic hits your nose, and suddenly, your mouth is watering like a cookie monster staring down a chocolate chip mountain. Now, they have soooo many cookie choices (seriously, it's a sweet dilemma), but I went with the OG: their legendary Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie. The staff? Super friendly, the service? Top-notch. And the cookie? Oh, this isn't just any cookie. Imagine the outside with just the right crunch, while the inside is warm and gooey, melting in your mouth with each bite. It's cookie perfection! The vibe? Totally cookie-licious, with an aroma that'll make you want to stay forever. Levain is the ultimate cookie stop, where each bite feels like a playful, tasty dream. Don't just think about it--go get your cookie fix!

Yelp
Cookies plump like geese-- We hide in pained resplendence. A leaf slowly falls. -- I've been looking to Levain for some months now but I could never get to the location in Los Angeles. It took a trip to Boston and its environs to get my dirty little cookie fix. And it was effing worth it. That probably was one of the most exquisite cookies I've ever had. It was like dark chocolate and peanut butter enacted a dark ritual and sacrificed all sense of decency to do so. Decadent and enriching are apt words to describe I had when first biting in. I loved this cookie.

Yelp
A trip to Boston is not complete without a stop at the Newbury street and Levain bakery is right here. We actually walked up to King Arthur bakery but that was closed to we happened to visit Levain to fulfill our sweet tooth craving post dinner. What's the first thing that hits you- fresh smell of baked goodies right out of oven! I believe something or other is constantly coming out of their grand oven. Its a cute little store with only to-go options and everything- Everything is made from scratch, their huge prep area is there for anyone who wishes to watch. The staff was super friendly. We got their most fast moving chocolate walnut cookie, a soft ball of bread (it just looked so shiny and round, couldn't resist though it was just bread). Both were really good and melt-in-the-mouth types. Items are limited simply for the reason that everything is made from scratch and fresh everyday. I am given to understand its a big name in New York, am sure it is a big name here in Boston as well.....

Yelp
Came back to Boston for another work trip so I had to stop by and try the rocky road cookie I was eyeing the last time! I loved the cookie! So many textures from the marshmallows that were sticky but also parts that were caramelized from Maillard reaction during baking to the crunch nuts and the decadent chocolate! Service was great as it was the last time I was here! The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The location is in the back bay so you can take the cookie and go on a nice stroll or sit outside in the tables in front.

Yelp
Visiting Boston for 3 days and came around a levain bakery. I heard a lot about them on social media, and I definitely wanted to take this opportunity to try desserts from them. When I went at around 1pm there was a short line but service was super quick and everyone is so nice there. I got the chocolate chip walnut cookie and the banana chocolate chip loaf. The pastries were all warm when I received it. The cookie was a little crunchy on the outside but nice and soft in the inside, it is a little too sweet for me but overall it was a good cookie. The banana chocolate chip loaf was amazing, big loaf pieces and I would come back for more!

Eric S.

Yelp
I just visited Levain Bakery and got their "Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie" and "Banana Chocolate Bread". The cookie was absolutely delicious, literally unlike anything I've tried before. Its edges are crispy and crumbly, and the inside is quite soft and buttery. I'd also like to add that the amount of walnuts and chocolate chips are quite generous. The bread was also quite tasty and perfectly baked.

Yelp
Came to Levain Bakery on our trip to Boston after seeing it all over instagram. The line to enter was out the door at around 3 pm on a Saturday, the inside bakery was very small and cramped so they could only hold so many people. There was also extremely limited seating inside and chances are, you wouldn't get a seat with the amount of people that came in. As for the cookie itself, to me it was extremely overrated. The inside was practically raw, but the outside was cooked. Overall I would definitely skip this place next time I am in Boston but with a line out the door and the amount of people in the building, there is a good amount of people who enjoy this.

Yelp
The hype is real at Levain Bakery! The SO and I stopped by the Boston Back Bay location to pick up some souvenirs to take back home and were very excited to try these. We came right at opening, very fortunately, to an empty bakery, but the smell of freshly baked bread, cookies, pastries filled the room. We ordered: - Chocolate chip walnut - a classic nutty cookie. Wasn't my favorite, but had to order as it's a fan favorite. - Two chip chocolate chip - so chocolatey! I really enjoyed this one after microwaving it at home... super ooey gooey. This one was my favorite out of what we ordered. - Oatmeal raisin - pretty basic and can't go wrong with a classic. - Caramel coconut - reminds me of a thick samoa cookie, my second favorite. - Lemon - great lemony flavor with white choco chips. A tad too sweet but would typically be my top choice. - Double chocolate chip peanut butter - pretty chocolatey and the pb chips really bring the flavors together. Super decadent. - The Levain Tin box (for gifting purposes) The baker that helped us was helpful and explained the deal of purchasing the tin box (buy 8 cookies, get $5 off the tin). He also was patient as I flip-flopped on which flavors to get so that was well-appreciated for lil' ol' executive dysfunction me. Overall, these cookies traveled well in my carryon and made it to its recipients in one piece, and they were a hit!

Rebecca B.

Yelp
I've visited Levain Bakery twice - once on a Saturday, the other on a Tuesday. The line, obviously, is super busy on the weekend. However, it is worth it! I like the Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip. It's both crispy on the outside but soft and melty inside. You get the best of both words. One cookie is enough to share between two people, especially since one is almost $6. Convenient location, staff is always friendly and quick. I would definitely try it if you want a quick sweet treat.

Yelp
We were visiting Boston and stumbled across this bakery while strolling down Newbury St., that I believe I had seen being highly recommended on a YT video, so, I figured we must give it a try.....especially with the steady stream of people walking in and out....it must be a pretty popular place. This place is a pretty small bakery with limited...albeit amazingly yummy looking offerings, with some bar seating inside and some tables outside along the sidewalk. Since we just wanted a quick taste of something from here, I decided we should try the Banana Chocolate Chip Cake. We couldn't wait to tear into the paper baggie and start tasting it, and did so as soon as we got outside and.....Oh Woooooowwww!!! I love banana walnut bread, but this is perhaps the most moist, fluffy, semi sweet, and incredibly yummy cake I had ever tasted! It was so heavenly...and made me immediately want to go try something else, but no.....when on holiday with all this yummy food everywhere, I have learned to practice serious self control....or regret it around the waistline later! :D This was a great find, and I would definitely come back here if I were ever visiting Boston again.

Yelp
10/10 with the hype and the price. The line was a bit long but the staff was quick and patient with various customer questions and selections. Clean store with a nice modern design - no indoor seating but with the close proximity to the park or grabbing it to go - it's a win! These cookies were brought back to my home state where my pet sitter who is a home baker declared that they are the best cookies she has ever eaten. Even more thrilled - she realized they ship nationally.

Sandra S.

Yelp
Love that there is barely a line compared to NYC. A delicious indulgent cookie. The original chocolate walnut is always a must and a fav but this new summer lemon flavor taste really delicious as well. It doesn't hit you with as much of that chocolate taste. Reminds me a bit more of a undercooked scone but in the best way. They are both pretty heavy but fun to share and taste. Especially if you like a cookie with a hard outer layer and a thick gooey center.

Marissa B.

Yelp
Another place I've always wanted to visit and can happily check off my list. Everything in the display case looked amazing! The desire to buy everything was strong but I went with a two chip chocolate chip. I loved the outdoor sidewalk seating area. Plenty of space for all and very picturesque on a warm sunny day. The cookie was unreal. Packed full of chocolate chips and the perfect texture. I was shocked by the size of it. You could indulge in full or easily split the cookie for two. I wish I had the opportunity to take my cookie home. I imagine it would be delightful slightly warmed up. I hope I get to visit again and try a different menu item.

Yelp
I dropped by right before catching a plane as I've heard all the hype around this bakery but never got around to trying it. I planned on flying these back as a lil treat to share with my girlfriend. I came in the morning and the line wasn't bad and moved pretty fast. I ordered a dark choco and peanut butter cookie as I don't like nuts in cookies. The cookies were a bit cold when I bit into them at the store but I could tell that they were going to be good. I could feel a solid crunch on the outter layer and a gooey center even though the cookies were cold. I saved them until after the flight to share with my girlfriend. Once home, we air fried the cookies and man they were good. I like soft cookies and my girlfriend likes crispy and these were the best of both worlds. It's tastes so rich and decadent but not overly sweet. I don't have bakery cookies too often but these were probably the best I've ever had. It's like a crispy cookie and a underbaked brownie had a baby. There's lots of copycat recipes so I'll probably try to recreate these with my girlfriend too. Honestly these days, bakery items are pretty pricy so I wouldn't say these cookies are priced unfairly. For the taste and amount you get, definitely a worthy purchase.

Natalia J.

Yelp
YUM! Their cold brew was phenomenal and all their coffee is somehow priced at a lower price point than actual cafes in the area. Usually cold brew runs for $7 now but this was an even $5. Their walnut chocolate chip NEVER disappoints but certainly needs the iced coffee to break up the sweetness. So stoked there's a Levain here in Boston!

Joey W.

Yelp
So excited to see Levain in Boston! I've only had it in NYC and their cookies are just as good as I remember. Chocolate chip walnut cookie - the cookie comes warm but it's also just as good when it's cooled. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chocolate chips and walnuts are well balanced.

Rowan F.

Yelp
Genuinely delicious cookies. Warm and thick and flavorful. The line moves quickly. Only reason it's not five stars is because the prices are quite high. Spending $11 for two cookies is steep. The music inside was also blaring and loud, which took away from the atmosphere a bit.

Helen H.

Yelp
TLDR: This is a dense, sweet cookie and I'd HIGHLY recommend having it warm with a glass of milk. ------ Tried Levain for the first time after hearing about them for years. I got their famous chocolate chip walnut cookie and it was handed to me warm, which was such an experience because I'm not used to getting warm cookies at bakeries. It was such a decadent, melty cookie, but I think it was more underbaked than I'd personally like given how tall it is. Also it was just so overwhelming that after a few bites I couldn't have any more. Maybe O was going into carb overload. Despite having the biggest sweet tooth ever, I managed to put the cookie away overnight and I revisited it in the morning with a glass of milk. Having the milk to even out the sweetness of the cookie actually helped so much, and I easily finished the rest without a problem. If you're someone who doesn't like things too sweet but still wants to enjoy this cookie, I'd highly recommend pairing the experience with milk. ------ STORE ENVIRONMENT: * Beautiful store in back bay but really only has standing room inside and then I believe a few tables outside. I saw a few people snacking on their treats inside in a corner by the windows though, so when it's later in the day and not as busy, that's also an option. * I LOVED how late this store was open at night, and even when I went around 6 pm on a Saturday, they still had plenty of cookies

Stephy S.

Yelp
Cookies on point. Wide selection even though I came at end of day. Long line but it moves quick.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Arguably one of the best cookies in Boston? You walk in and can instantly smell the aroma of freshly baked cookies. They have pastries too. I got the two chip chocolate chip cookie and it was great. Warm, gooey, sweet. Hit the spot on a cold night. Only hard thing is since it's a smaller space, there are only 4 barstools and one bench crammed into a tiny area by the window. This would be fine if it's a warm day out, but since it's winter we wanted to eat inside. Just be cautious if it's busy inside you might not be able to eat inside. Other than that, this place is awesome for anyone with a sweet tooth out there.

Tara K.

Yelp
I was excited to try Levain cookies from an actual store (I've only tried the frozen ones). There was only a short line, and we were in and out quickly. A friendly cashier wrapped up my 2 cookies and was on my way.. I bought a chocolate chip walnut and a chocolate chocolate chip, the latter being the star of the two. They had seating out in front of you wanted to sit. We just made a Quick stop on our stroll down Newberry St.

Lina L.

Yelp
I stopped by Levain on a Saturday. It was bustling, but the line moved quite fast, and service was friendly. I got the chocolate walnut cookie as well as their lemon cookie. Each cookie was chunky and dense, making it a filling dessert. I enjoyed the lemon flavoring of the cookie as it was perfect and not overwhelming. I am not a fan of white chocolate, but I did appreciate the aesthetics behind this choice. The chocolate walnut cookie is solid and good. I love the huge pieces of walnuts present in the cookie. The cookie is crispy on the outside, but chewy on the inside. I will come back here if I want to indulge in a chunky cookie.

Joan M.

Yelp
Was walking on a cold evening in Boston and wanted alittle something. This bakery was crowded so decided to go in. What a cute bakery. The theme was the colors blue and white. As you walking in line they have a huge map of where you are in Boston which I enjoyed. So my friend and I each got a cookie. My friend got the chocolate chip and I got the chocolate chip with coco and coconut. Big mistake since we were going to dinner in a few hours and I'll tell you why. These cookies are huge! Wow. We could have spilt one. They are tasty. Fresh baked. These are one of the best cookies I've had in a while. It was really that homemade feel when my mother would bake chocolate chip cookies from scratch, but the size was half this cookie. It's good to eat, but not right before a dinner reservation! It's a small bakery but they have a small counter with a few stools and alittle bench in the corner by the window. Finally found a place to sit which was comfy. I would recommend this bakery. Unless you don't like huge, fresh baked cookies that taste great!

Paula C.

Yelp
Love love love the double chocolate cookies. Always fast and grandly service with reliably delicious thick cookies.

Kate F.

Yelp
If you're looking for a cookie to top all cookies, look no further. These cookies are HUGE, and don't trade size for tastiness. The texture is still perfectly soft and chewy and studded with goodness throughout; chocolate chips, oatmeal and raisins, you name it it's in there. You can even get your cookies in a cute tin highlighting their original NYC location that opened in 1995

Ash R.

Yelp
This bakery has the most decadent cookies. They are so delicious and warm and smell amazing. We got the two chocolate chip cookie and it had so much rich chocolate flavor. The service was also super friendly and fast. Would recommend.

Taylor S.

Yelp
Finally tried Levain for the first time! I got the double chocolate chip cookie. It was good, but nothing spectacular. I was hoping it would be warm and gooey, but it was not. It was room temp and dense. I would try others, especially if they were freshly baked.

Hanna Y.

Yelp
Came to try it after my sister was raving about the cookies. There were a lot of people inside so that was a good sign. We got the oatmeal raisin, Caramel Coconut chocolate, two chip chocolate chip, and the dark chocolate peanut butter chip. As someone that can't handle super sweet treats, the oatmeal raisin was my favorite! The two chip was also the right amount of sweet, but the caramel coconut chocolate was simply too sweet for me. Overall the cookies were delicious!

Eva G.

Yelp
Been to Boston already a few times this year and realized I haven't dropped by this iconic cookie place. Who doesn't love chocolate chip cookies??!!!! Upon entering you get this pleasant whiff of freshly baked cookies that draws you in. This visit my cousin and I wanted to get some treats after lunch. They had a lemon cookie available. I purchased that, a cinnamon roll and of course a few chocolate chip cookies! My cousin and I shared the treats. I liked the lemon cookie and cinnamon roll, but thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies! These cookies also make nice gifts to bring back to Ohana.

Ethan R.

Yelp
Oh my goodness gracious heaven on earth A gem of a place located on the lively & happening Newbury street Boston. The mesmerizing smells pull you in, the gorgeous view of their display counter makes your mouth water & that first bight of pure bliss is simply euphoric. Hands down, one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. Hardest thing to do was to limit myself to only one which of course I shared with my beloved. Absolutely cannot wait to pay a return visit.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Been hearing allll the hype about Levain's cookies so I ordered some online and settled on a bundle of a 4-pk of the Chocolate Lovers. I didn't feel like standing in their massive line on Newbury Street during these chilly days we've been having, but will definitely update my review when I do. The packaging when it came in was cute, had their signature blue drawing designs on it. Customer service was great, they're on top of the notifications on letting you know when they got your order, when your cookies are baking, getting shipped out, out for delivery and when to expect them. The directions for how to best enjoy the cookies are instructed as follows: heat them up in the oven at 350 for 5-10 minutes or until warm and gooey. I didn't do this. I just wanted to go right in. Opened the cellophane bag and immediately started drooling. Lucky the camera got to eat first on these! Okay so something to be aware of is that Levain's style of cookie is slightly gooey in the center while being crispy on the outer edges. And they're also thickkkkkk. Like about 6oz heavy, EACH! So that explains the higher cost. It's definitely a hefty like massive cookie. Is it worth the hype? Let's dive into that. Chocolate Lovers 4-ok comes with two chip chocolate chip cookies and two dark chocolate chocolate chip cookies. The two chip chocolate chip cookies were delicious, but I gotta say they had my heart with the usage of both semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips for a richer depth of chocolate flavor without being too overwhelming in a every bite. Little crunchy when you initially bit in, but ooey gooey deliciousness as your teeth sank into the center. Just divine. The dark chocolate chip cookies were my absolute kryptonite. I'm a huge chocolate girl, specifically dark chocolate. These baddies were made with LOVE, extra dark French cocoa, and semisweet chocolate chips and lemme tell ya I almost shoved the whole rest of the 5oz right in my mouth after that first bite cause that gooey center was unreal. Consider this chocoholic satiated! Delicious! I wish I waited to pop these in the oven for the full epic experience, but honestly I had a fabulous time drinking my iced coffee and having two of these. It was definitely a treat, and one everyone should indulge in. Self-care is important and I highly recommend giving these cookies a try!

Jamie K.

Yelp
Some of the best cookies I have ever eaten. The dark chocolate peanut butter one was incredible as was the smores cookie in dark chocolate. We got three cookies and the bag was so heavy because the cookies are so big and thick. We ate our cookies and delicious coffee on Newbury Street at a table. Wonderful service. Best cookies ever. Carrying the bag around after we at one, we could not finish all three, everyone kept telling us these are the best cookies.

Haley A.

Yelp
Fresh Gooey chocolate chip cookies... say less. The chocolate chip cookie is iconic here and for good reason. Thick and delicious, perfect for a cooler day! Pretty large cookies, I ended up splitting one with my boyfriend and I don't think I could of finished a full one. They taste homemade and I am one to appreciate a undercooked cookie. Will be back :)

Mina P.

Yelp
I love Levain Bakery.. so I was more than happy to see one in Boston when we came to visit. When we went, there was a bit of a waiting line (maybe 6~8 people in front of us), but the line went by fairly quickly. The space is small and no place to sit. I ordered a simple chocolate chip cookie and it was just as I remembered their cookies to me: delicious. A bit crispy on the edges and soft on the inside. It is definitely a bit of a dense cookie, so one cookie was enough for me to share with my husband.

Camila N.

Yelp
The cookies are amazing and huge! To this day, they are the best cookies I've ever tried. I'll be honest, their coffee is just okay. But I'll give them a pass since that is not their specialty. Service is friendly but a little more attention to detail would be nice. I ordered my cappuccino with skim milk and got one with oat milk. Not a big deal for me since I like both types but that could be a dealbreaker for people with dietary restrictions.

Yelp
I have a routine that involves the Newbury Street Levain Bakery. My hair salon is just up the street from Levain and I make sure my monthly appointments are always first thing in the morning. I make it a point to arrive about 30 minutes early so I can stop in for a cup of coffee and a one of their bakery treats. Last week, it was a gorgeous, sunny summer morning. I wasn't in the mood for coffee (which is always excellent here btw) but opted to try the unsweetened iced tea. It was a great choice. The tea had a delicious well-brewed flavor and since I take no sweetener in either my tea or coffee it is important to me that the taste can stand on its own and is not bitter. The tea didn't disappoint. I was pleased that although the tea came in a plastic cup, they do use paper straws. I'd love for them to find an alternative to the plastic. On this particular morning I didn't get a baked good as I wasn't hungry but I was certainly tempted. There are several tables out front as well as a couple of stools inside the shop. Some of the tables have umbrellas; I wish they all did. I sat outside with my iced tea enjoying the morning and early morning people-watching. Levain has an assortment of delicious cookies including chocolate chip, dark chocolate peanut butter chip, rocky road, oatmeal raisin, etc. They are best known for the deliciousness of their cookies. And I agree with that assessment. They have several kinds of muffins and as well as other cakes, breads and pastries. I've had their scones which are good but not great...or it may be that I'm not the hugest scone fan. The scone I tried here once seemed a bit on the dry side. My favorite treat at Levain is the Valrhona Roll which is essentially a "pain au chocolat" made with extra dark bittersweet chocolate. So delicious! They can be bit messy with all the chocolate inside of them, so take extra napkins. The prices are a bit on the high side but alas, this is Newbury Street where everything tends to be expensive. I love my monthly pre-hair appointment ritual and appreciate an alternative to Starbucks. There is just no comparison...Levain wins. Levain started years ago in NY and now they have locations across the country. The thing I don't love is that they always have the music blasting inside. I appreciate that it sets an upbeat tone for the workers but I find it annoying and off putting.

Jeongmin H.

Yelp
These cookies definitely live up to the hype! The line can be long but moves pretty quickly. Gotta say though, they're so thick and chunky even just few bites of one cookie can get you full

Ellen M.

Yelp
Pros: Great location Incredible fat cookies Fast service Loved the cookie options and the seasonal flavor - Fall chocolate chunk Cons: Wish the cookie was hot Pricey, but each cookie is like 3 regular ones Pro tip: You're in Boston - gotta grab a few to enjoy and share

Sandee L.

Yelp
I just can't get into these cookies. I've been to their OG location in NYC a handful of times, and I can say the Back Bay location is consistent. I think I've come to the conclusion I'm in the light and crispy cookie camp. Levain cookies are gigantic and dense, filled with lots of goodies. We got the two chip chocolate chip and the chocolate chip walnut. One cookie could (and should) last you a couple days! Levain definitely has its share of fans and followers. Definitely worth a try it if you haven't to see if it's your thing.

Would also recommend trying their sour cream bread loaf and the blueberry muffin. Both are quite good. Great place to make a pit stop at if you're shopping in the Newbury area. No inside seating. It's a quick go in, order, and take away process and service has always been good. There is street parking available, but it's always hard to find a spot in the Newbury area. Best to take public transit!

Yelp
Seriously the BEST cookies ever. I tried Levain's for the first time 2 years ago in New York City and I came home with an entire box and I was raving about to it my family in Boston. They tried the cookies and loved them all too. When I ever saw the news a couple years ago that they were opening in Boston, I couldn't believe it. I can't get enough of Levain's!! Levain's has mastered the "undercooked but legally cooked" science of gooey dough in their cookies. And yet, the bottom is dark so you know it is in fact cooked. When you bite into it, it's the perfect happy medium of undercooked and cooked. Bliss. To this day their chocolate chip walnut is my favorite cookie of all time. They're so large that I can't even finish it in one sitting! I mean who says that about a cookie?! Ugh I daydream about these...

Yelp
I am a HUGE dessert person and if I could, I would smother myself with Levain. I've tried all the cookies there and they are all so good. Some of them are really super sweet like the double chocolate, but the rest are just super sweet (I have a huge sweet tooth and these are still sweet BUT not to the point of disgust. It's just right!). I also tried the gluten-free one just to try and if you like a semi undercooked cookie texture, you should get it! They are always super busy but the employees are still very efficient and nice. The place itself isn't too big but they have a couple of chairs outside to vibe on Newbury Street. I've got it delivered and ordered in person and there is no difference :)

Yelp
Their plain breads were excellent. The dairy containing ones were ok but not as much, except the cookies which were very good and also huge. Overall they were generally good in terms of quality for the price offered.

Yelp
Best scone I had in my life, for under $5. Now I understand the hype about this bakery from NY.

Yelp
I didn't have a chance to try Levain Bakery while visiting New York, so I can't speak to how this location holds up to "the original". What I *can* speak to is how it knocked my socks off regardless. The cookies live up to the hype. This spot is is located on Newbury Street, which becomes a lively, pedestrian-only area on Sundays. Perfect location for grabbing an outdoor table, soaking up the sunlight, and people-watching with a treat in hand. There was a line that just barely went out the door when I visited around 2 pm on a Sunday. I placed and received my order within 15 minutes. The cookies come out warm, so give them a taste while they're at peak freshness! All their cookies are huge, thick, and gooey without feeling undercooked. And don't get me started on their buttery, crispy edges. Not to be dramatic, but it's a bit of a textural masterpiece. As for my order, I enjoyed the... - Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie: This one's their signature, and one I'd recommend if you're feeling indecisive. It's got enough semi-sweet chocolate chips to sort out your chocolate cravings for the day, and the chunks of walnuts add the perfect bit of textural intrigue. - Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookie: My favorite of the ones I've tried! Adding shredded coconut to a cookie of this thickness makes for a treat that's reminiscent of a coconut macaroon--only 10 times better. The gooey caramel chips and dark chocolate are to thank for that. - Rocky Road Cookie: I can see why this is a summer exclusive. The combo of chocolate chips and marshmallow pieces make this a cookie fit for any bonfire. Similarly to the Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie, sliced almonds only elevate the texture. I enjoyed the dark chocolate base and found the overall cookie to be just as balanced as the others. - Banana Chocolate Chip Slice: As a lover of banana bread, this may be the best I've had. The prominent flavor of fresh banana makes for love at first bite. Plus, the semi-sweet chocolate chips give it an addictive quality without detracting from its banana flavor. In summary... don't walk. Run! Whether you're a visitor or a local, this spot should be on your dessert hit-list. Take my word and thank me later.

Yelp
Great smells! Soft hot cookies. We had the double chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. The double chocolate chip cookie was full of chocolate and was delicious. The oatmeal raisin was the best oatmeal cookie I've had. Drinks are available for purchase. Service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
Fantastic cookies, definitely different style than I've had before. Thick, chewy and very flavorable. The chocolate chips were warm and melty. The line moves really quickly and they package purchases well for travel (I let them know I was taking some back to California).

Yelp
Tried these in New York and had to come here on the trip to Boston is well because family had to try. Unfortunately not as fresh as expected. It's they were made earlier and just warmed up to serve. We It's a wind up like 8:00 p.m. So maybe that was the reason why. Chocolate Chip Walnut is the number one. So soft and chewy be on the inside and the chocolate chips just melt away. Beautiful. On Two Chip Chocolate Chip - a good amount chocolate chips but a bit too sweet. Not as soft on the inside as the choco chip walnut. Rocky Road - Not a fan of this one. Husband loved it, but It was a bit extra dark for me. Butter and Jam Baguette - delicious! Very spontaneous buy here after my dad saw it and decided to get it. Sleep look and the balance of the butter and the jam inside was actually nice. A cold sandwich but it's something you want to have cold!
