"Licha’s feels like a party, all the time. There’s a giant patio wrapping around the building that we’re pretty sure has never seen an empty day in its life, and you can order margaritas by the pitcher. If that wasn’t enough to entice you, maybe the menu full of queso fundido, huaraches, tlacoyos, and sopecitos will help. There are a lot of dishes that we don’t see a lot of in Austin, and that’s what makes this bar/restaurant/patio such an exciting destination. Now, wrap everything we’ve mentioned up into a cute little house on East 6th, and it’s not hard to see why this is such a great spot to celebrate just about any occasion." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"Happy Hour usually ends with coworkers discussing things they’ll regret the next day and a very empty stomach. We can’t help with the first part, but we can send you to Licha’s to fix the second. It’s within a short walk of most drinking spots on the East Side and offers plenty of seating on their front patio, inside, and in their backyard. The queso fundido is only made better with the addition of roasted mushrooms, and they have taco plates for everyone at the table, including a spicy marinated fish and shrimp option for the pescatarian, sweet potato and mushroom for the vegetarian, and al pastor for Jared who will eat anything with meat in it." - nicolai mccrary, adele hazan, raphael brion
"This convivial East Austin Mexican restaurant is the go-to destination on East Sixth for classic and spicy margaritas. Licha’s serves Mexico City-inspired soul food, which pairs nicely with the Lupita margarita (watermelon-infused tequila with jalapeños) or the Hora Dorada (reposada tequila, damiana liqueur, and cinnamon sugar). The “Cantina” in its name helps sum up the aesthetic of this house-turned-restaurant: relaxed and homey." - Kayleigh Hughes
"This lively East Austin restaurant makes for a great patio hang, which is all the better for enjoying the food and drinks menu inspired by Mexico City. This means tacos al pastor, where marinated roast pork is paired with pineapple, pumpkin seed green mole enchiladas, and tlacoyos, blue corn masa stuffed with fillings. Visit during happy hour, when cocktails, appetizers, including loaded street corn, huaraches, and quesadillas, are just $8." - Nadia Chaudhury
"The Deal: $8 cocktails and bites; $12 32oz beers Kick off a night on the East Side at Licha’s with $8 margaritas and food. The only possible downside is that you might end up sticking around all evening." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
