The Best Places To Eat In DeKalb Market Hall

"Meanwhile, over at Likkle More Jerk (right across from Fat Fowl), the chicken has a louder flavor. This Jamaican stall sells platters of jerk chicken, fish, shrimp, and pork with rice and peas. Those are solid, but when we want something more exciting, the jerkrito is our move. It’s a fork-and-knife situation that uses roti as a wrap and functions more like a chubby enchilada, with generous drizzles of pepper sauce and a jerk-spiced mayo. Also, if you want oxtail with more chill, get their traditional oxtail stew. " - neha talreja, will hartman, bryan kim, willa moore

Don’t eat here , instead of jerk pork they serve you jerk bone. Spend your money elsewhere. If I could give zero stars I would. I purchased food from your establishment on Monday, June 23rd, and was extremely disappointed when I got home. The plate was filled with tough, mostly bone-filled meat, completely drenched in jerk sauce. When I called the restaurant to express my concerns, I was met with disrespect rather than understanding. Experiences like this are disheartening and reflect poorly on customer service. It's unfortunate when businesses, especially those in our community, fail to value their customers.

This hidden gem placed in the back across from The Escape Room is not only tasty but also convenient. Love the fact that they have a user friendly kiosk to order their delicious food. The price is great for the quality and quantity that their customers receive.

Google
Visited this place on Mother’s Day after a morning with my daughter. I ordered the beef patty and coco bread with oxtail sauce to go. My order was up and I went to go find a table to check my bag and to my surprise the oxtail sauce was SO HOT … HOT is an understatement…that it melted the plastic lid off the container!!! Thank God I checked because what if it was for my daughter??? She could’ve burned herself… a warning would’ve been nice. I understand giving warmed sauce, but HOT where I couldn’t even take it out the bag without a napkin as a barrier. First thought was “chemicals” next thought was “ this is ridiculous. Either figure out how to serve the sauce on the side or open the patties and put the sauce there!!!!!!!!!!!

Google
I had an amazing experience at Likkle More Jerk in Brooklyn! The oxtail with peas and rice was incredible perfectly tender and flavorful, truly some of the best Jamaican food I’ve had. The staff treated me with genuine care, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. If you’re looking for authentic, delicious Jamaican food and great service, this is the spot! Highly recommend.

Google
I had the BEST Jamaican beef patty of my life here. This place is located in Dekalb Market. It was so crispy, warm and seasoned well. I’d rate it a 100/10, I’m definitely going back to grab a few. They have a new item on their menu and it called “oxtail Bao bun.” I didn’t enjoy this meal, the bao bun was a bit soggy and the oxtail lacks seasoning. The bun was also a bit cold, I’d rate it a 5/10 I’d love to be personally invited and come back and try more items from their menu. Check this place out for their Beef patties, they did NOT disappoint.

Food is very bland although jerk sauce is tangy. The jerk chicken lacks seasoning. The rice and beans taste like white rice sprinkled with a handle of red kidney beans. The Cole slaw taste like it was seasoned with just vinegar. Plantains were good.

Google
Worst everrrrrrrr Caribbean food I’ve ever had and I NEVER write review but the way they pissed me off is beyond me! I spent 70 dollars not on uber eats but in person two oxtails dinners and one curry goat dinner! Which the rice was completely dry not a lick of gravy no veggies and both oxtail pieces and goat piece was completely just bones like this is ridiculous how can they be okay with serving customers like this and the thing that pisses me off is how would they feel if they went to someone’s else establishment and was served the same quality of food I know they would be pissed so why do it to others just disrespectful and selfish to the ppl of NY and the portions I spent almost a hundred dollars on just rice !!! AND ALL THESE PPL ON THESE REVIEWS ARE LYING ABOUT ITS A GOOD PLACE AND GOOD FOOD THEY GOTTA BE PAID ACTORS DONT BELIEVE THEM ANS DONT EAT THERE

I came here yesterday with my family and we all enjoyed our meals. I wished the seating was better but it's a packed food hall with tons of vendors, not their fault! Thank you for the extra pieces of plaintain, they were fried to perfection. I got the jerkito burrito and loved the use of roti skin to make a "burrito". I had the jerk mayo and sauce on the side which I'm very glad for because our noses were running! Nice and hot! The owner (who was so nice) told us they're also in Barclay's center so the next time I'm at a game or concert I will definitely order from them. I hope to see them at Smorgasbord in Prospect Park this summer. Competition is steep at Dekalb Market but I highly recommend. Next trip to Trader Joe's I plan to try something else on the menu.

Yelp
I seen this place when I went to the mall before but never tried it until a couple days ago and I should've went sooner. The guy at the front desk was actually pleasant compared to a lot of service you get in Brooklyn. The store wasn't anything special to look at but it's good for a small shop in a mall's food court. The food itself was actually good as well. I would give it an 8/10 as I've had better jerk chicken but theirs is good enough where I would definitely come back for more. It was a good portion size and good price. Would definitely recommend trying this place out if you ever stop by the mall.

Yelp
I found this Jamaican spot on DeKalb below Target in the food court. I love Jamaican food! I ordered jerk pork with rice and peas, which came with coleslaw. It was SLAMMING!! It was spicy and so flavorful. It reminded me of a restaurant I went to when I was in Jamaica. I also ordered a beef patty. It tasted so fresh, wasn't too spicy, and was flakey. It reminded me of the first time I had a real beef patty in Jamaica. The lady who took my order was nice, and the music gave me island vibes. My only complaint is the pork was a little fatty; other than that, everything was delicious! I will be returning to try different items on the menu.

Yelp
This establishment is located in lower level of City Point building. They are about 20 food and beverage vendors, with Likkle More Jerk being one of them. I had a curry goat dinner and a jerk salmon dinner. Both dishes were well prepared and tasty. The only thing I would say is that they could trim a little more fat off the goat. Service was as good as you gonna get for over the counter service. The ambiance is like an open air market but inside.

Yelp
The food is good. If you're a vegetarian, they have a good tasty option if you are not a meat eater. Service is cool when it's not pack of hungry customers. It's a food booth in the food court of Dekalb market. It's good eats... Live, laugh, and love - Sha

Yelp
The food is freaking good. Had the Curry goat with rice and peas with a side of Cole slaw and I am very please with my order. And it's a nice healthy plate as well. Went here on a hunch trying the different restaurants at the City Point DeKalb Market. Trust me if you in the area and want some good Caribbean food this place is a must!!!

Yelp
Literally the best jerk chicken place around this area. Tried a few others in downtown Brooklyn, none of them on par with this place. Have bad it 3 days in a row

Yelp
Visited here last weekend while in Brooklyn. The food is good and a decent amount for a Caribbean spot. I had the curry chicken and my friend ordered the jerk chicken with plantains. Both were flavorful and came with rice and peas. The curry chicken was what u believe is snack of lunch size should the jerk chicken was dinner portion. I will definitely return to try other things on the menu!
google avatar

Yelp
The flavors here are pretty close to the Caribbean. I had ordered the jerk pork before class and I have to admit it didn't disappoint. The seasoning really hit it close to home BUT to much for me. I couldn't finish it but I wasn't disappointed at all. I suggest adding something to the meal to bring the heat down from your pallet. The dough used in the chicken patty was buttery delicious and flaky. Next time I come around I like to try the beef.

Yelp
I waited too long to try this gem. This Caribbean cuisine has been on my list for a while but never gotten the chance to try it out but today I was in for a treat. This food was so delicious ate it to the last grain of rice. The rice was moist and full of that coconut milk flavor not dry. Good enough to eat alone without any gravy. The jerk pork was to die for. Tender full of flavor not too spicy just right. That slaw was a perfect addition to the combination of rice and spice. Loved every bite. The server was polite. And the dekalb market has plenty seating they've also did alil revamping down there which looks nice. I'll definitely be back

Yelp
Located inside Dekalb Market food hall; this stall is hidden near the side corner and glad I selected this food stall. Ordered the Jerk Chicken with rice and a side of coco bread. Waited about 15 minutes for my order- (walked around Trader Joe's to do some grocery shopping), and got my order to-go. I really enjoyed the well seasoned Jerk Chicken- the meat was so tender; perfect accompaniment to the rice. Cole-saw didn't have much taste; a bit bland. Coco bread tasted okay; a bit dry though. Overall, will definitely return for the Jerk Chicken and maybe try their Oxtail next time

Yelp
Good quality jerk chicken and the oxtail gravy on the rice was a plus. Ample portions and prompt service too. One of the better stalls at De Kalb.

Yelp
I got the oxtail meal ($20) with a beef patty ($3) & bigga. The service was quick, food was hot & tasty. I wish the oxtail came with plaintains but i ended up getting a side & they were soo good.

Yelp
Great staff.... great food and weirdo customers that skip the line and abuse staff. The boneless jerk chicken with jerk mayo is slammin. The tall clerk with the glasses is always polite when I visit this store location.
google avatar

Yelp
Shared a jerk chicken plate. Jerk chicken was juicy. Sauce was delicious. Came with rice and cabbage on the plate which did a great job of filing you up and complimenting the flavorful chicken.

Yelp
FYI: They are on Groupon! Make sure to download their offer to get 25% cash back. Solid spot in Dekalb Market Hall. There was no line when we got there on a Sunday and we were able to receive our order in 5 minutes. We got the likkle jerk chicken, which comes with rice and peas and a small coleslaw. There were 3 pretty large pieces of chicken, and the meat itself was tender and flavoured well. The rice was solid as well, but had no peas in it. Even though it was technically supposed to be a small, the portions were very generous and the price affordable ($9). Definitely would stop by again if I find myself in Dekalb!

Yelp
- fast service - listless service (but if you know Caribbean food, you're used to it) - good jerk pork - fatty jerk pork - rice is kind of dry, but I screwed myself by not asking for gravy (they didn't offer either)

Yelp
As a Jamaican, I spent the longest time being a snob, avoiding this place just on principle smh, and boy, am I sorry I did. Shame on me! When I tried it, I was pleasantly surprised! Though the tastes have been catered to an American palate, because well...we're in America, it is still really solid and tasty food. SERVICE: Super friendly, fast, and accommodating! They even freshly fried some plantain for me upon my asking. FOOD: The oxtail was quite garlicky but really good! The rice and peas were fresh, and as mentioned, I ordered fresh plantain on request. They were sweet and juicy, not dry and bland like you get at some other places. BUT THE REAL STAR (at least on the occasions I went) WAS THE JERK PORK. Y'all, they don got me eating the Devil's meat but it was so good! The times I ordered the pork, it was PERFECTTTTT - marbled with fat (that's how it is supposed to come), well seasoned, and delectable. Overall, this is definitely one of my spots when I'm in DeKalb Market and craving a good meal.

Briana P.

Yelp
My mom ordered oxtail from this place over the weekend and it was one of the worst oxtails i ever had in my life. The Oxtail was very sweet and i couldn't tell if they added jerk seasoning or curry to the oxtail?! Either way it did not taste authentic at all. Oxtail is my favorite meal, so if i didn't even finish my meal, you know something is off. Please change your chef. The food has just gone extremely down hill over the years. A couple years before i stopped by with a friend and i was embarrassed as a Jamaican introducing her to typical Jamaican food. Rice was NOT cooked and oxtail was not falling off the bone. Please do better.

Yelp
My husband and I stumbled across this place as we were roaming Brooklyn. I really enjoyed it! The meat was tender and the jerk chicken was spicy. We also had beef and chicken Pattie's. The Pattie's were ok. I loved the drinks!! The customer service was great

Yelp
Likkle More Jerk in Dekalb Market is a takeout spot that gets the job right. For the most part. Our order did take around 15 minutes to arrive, and we sat nearby in Dekalb Market, which is a pretty busy place on a Friday. Rozena ordered the jerk chicken, with rice and peas. I got the goat curry. And we added to it a pretty tasty kola champagne island Soda. The rice and peas lacked...peas. None was to be found. And Rozena thought the goat was too gamey. However, I thought the goat curry was very nicely spiced. It reminded me of Indian influenced goat curries. The curry mixed in with rice is a great combo! The Jerk Chicken wasn't too bad either.
google avatar

Celestia L.

Yelp
I Had ordered the jerk shrimp with plantains and white rice and I had received THREE pieces of shrimp and only THREE tiny plantains along with a Mac truck load of plain white rice. I would be able to look past this if they had added some sauce to make my rice even palatable but no! I hate to bash a black owned business but I was stuck with $24 of just rice and that's just unfair. The food is fine though but not worth more than $20 for just rice

John J.

Yelp
I got the Oxtail with Rice and beans very salty, didn't enjoy the meal at all. The service wasn't inviting at all. My favorite cuisine is Jamaican food and I would have to say this has been my least favorite Jamaican food I have had. I didn't finish my $24.00 meal
google avatar

Suzanne J.

Yelp
Jerk chicken Jerk Chicken Jerk Chicken Love love love Spicy, and perfectly cooked. Pair with a Ting and you will not be disappointed, Don't forget the slaw to take the heat off.

E W.

Yelp
It is Way Too Expensive. For the Lack of Portion Size..The Rice & Peas Was Seasoned Well But The Meats Ox Tail / Jerk Chicken Portions were Small Compared to the Rice Portion.
google avatar

Jennie A.

Yelp
I have been here many times for their patties and they are delicious and always served piping hot. The chicken and beef are nice and flavorful and the patty is crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. I need to go back to try their oxtail stew and curry goat. Definitely worth a stop if you are in Dekalb market hall.

La L.

Yelp
Was there today and brought vegetarian patties(12) and 2 oxtails stews.wheni opened the oxtail stew a funky smell emanated. They had added the vinegar coleslaw on top of my rice which soured the rice and peas.$ 40 wasted as I am on my way home to another borough now.they on time out now as I was frequenting the establishment everytime i came to Brooklyn but I'm done now.Make sure they put that nasty coleslaw on the side.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my go to spot for Jamaican food. The chicken patties are my favorite. They are flaky, flavorful and very fresh. The veggie patties are also delicious. They have a jerk burrito that is a unique combination of flavors. You can have it with chicken or fish. Definitely worth checking out if you're in downtown Brooklyn.

Yelp
Got 2 puny side orders of rice and peas and cabbage there and got charged $10. Excessive imho.

Fayann A.

Yelp
Ive had my favorite patty shop for decade but that shop has gone out of business for non-business related reasons. I shop at the Dekalb market often. I've walked pass Likkle More Jerk thinking they might not meet my standards. They actually do a good job. Flavors and crispness of the crust are outstanding. Ive gone back several times since finding this gem. They did not disappoint I will be back with a review of their meals once I've had them. Highly recommend the patty's. Enjoy

Yelp
Can't wait to try the rest of the menu, cuz the pork was off the charts. Even though it's a specific trip for me, I'm gonna make it a priority.

Yelp
Nightmare experience. Before you read this review know that I have been coming to the dekalb market, specifically this restaurant stall for over 3+ years. I bring everyone I know to a likkle more jerk and I always leave a nice tip. This experience was so disheartening I know I will never return. I hate to bash a black business but this is important to me. I'm leaving this review out of necessity, and with hopes that the business owners will see my horrible experience and work towards making the necessary changes so that this never happens again to another customer . On December 30, 2022 I visited this location in the DeKalb market with a friend my friend ordered a Coco bread that she never received due to a system error that was never explained to us. Some signage explaining that you need to follow certain steps on the IPAD would be extremely helpful for customers. Or come up with a straightforward way for people to order a coco bread without having to follow 1 million steps plain and simple.. or so you would think... After coming back to the restaurant and finding out that she was not going to be able to get the bread as she did not order it on their end I discovered my order had a mistake as well and this is where I start to get upset. I ordered a chicken patty and received a beef patty. I do not eat red meat at all, and have lived most of my life this way. This is something I shouldn't have to explain to anyone as my order should be followed exactly as it was placed especially when I leave a nice tip . I had to return to the market stall once more only to be met with the most disgusting and distasteful attitude from the " head chef". My biggest regret is not getting his name. He's an older gentleman with locks and he immediately starts to disrespect and question my purpose for coming back.. I only came back to fix a mistake that YOU made. Infront of customers he begins to raise his voice at me. He says things like " how long ago were you here" ( he had just Seen me order and handed me my bags as well as my friend) and " are you playing tricks on me" and " who gave you your order" "what is it now ?". He's kissing his teeth and Making a scene. I would feel embarrassed too but from a customer service stand point YOU are in the wrong and any other approach that's not apologetic is delusional. This man clearly had to be losing it because he was the only person in the restaurant stall at the time meaning he had to make my order and hand it to me . The principle of the situation is where I draw the line he made TWO mistakes, and instead of apologizing to me and trying to rectify the situation. He was absolutely horrible to me, and embarrassed me in front of a whole line of customers. I approached him respectfully, and with a smile on my face only to be met with the stereotypical Jamaican restaurant service people talk about on social media that I could've just went to Flatbush for. This restaurant is in a nice neighborhood and the prices reflect that. Therefore I expect better customer service and business practices. this man is a nightmare and it's destroying your business because I promise you I'm never going to return again the chicken was dry. The oxtail gravy was watery and the rice and peas are hard. This place is losing its style and appeal for sure. I love to support my fellow black businesses, as I said before this place was a favorite of mine and I return regularly when I'm home from school but I will never recommend or come again. Stick to the spots in the hood they'll do you right Everytime. And on the off chance the owner of this establishment would like reach out to me for further discussion or debate after this review I am always open to talk.

Deron S.

Yelp
The food is cool. The 9$ jerk chicken meal is just a little bit smaller than the $11 meal but the difference is you just paying for a bigger container that's it. They also just give you the other half of the chopped chicken thigh which is mainly bone when you order the 11$ Jerk Chicken meal. They may do all the meals like that idk I just get Jerk and I'm about to stop that now I see what I'm paying for.

Yelp
Are you also indecisive to a fault? Dekalb Market Hall is an amazing place that I feel lucky to have nearby, but it can be so hard to decide what to eat with all these options. It's even worse when you're hangry. So my advice to you when you're feeling stabby because you can't decide what to eat: Pick up a beef patty from Likkle More Jerk. It's $3 for a delicious snack that's probably the best value in the whole hall, and that you can walk around chomping on as you decide what to do for your main meal. If you don't find anything worth getting anywhere else, circle back and rock a Jerkito Burrito. Those are great too. Bonus: If your kid does something wrong while you're here, you can say, "Look what you did you likkle jerk!" And then leave him/her alone to be accosted by psychotic thieves while you take a trip to Paris.
google avatar

Edward M.

Yelp
OMG!!! The first bite was a party in my mouth. I compared the menu w another Caribbean spot next to it and I'm so glad I made this choice. I had the Jerkito Burrito. So full of flavor that sauces are not needed. But of course I added their peppa sauce. What can I say I love heat! The prices are great because the flavor is worth it. Wish I lived in BK again to get this food all the time. I'm taking small bites while I write this review because I want to savor the fla

Yelp
What happened? It looks like someone broke off a piece of the coco bread and put it back in there. I've been a customer since they opened. .Not ok
google avatar

Eunice C.

Yelp
Based on takeout. Still nice and hot after 25 minutes of travel time. I was so hungry, I could not wait and started diving into my meal (thus no pics) The rice was nice and fluffy, chicken fell off the bone, saucy blended with the coleslaw and rice well. I had to tell myself to slow down. Just what I needed during mid-week.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
Kind of on the fence about the jerk chicken. I have tried this place twice and it's not entirely bad I just wish the portions were a little larger and the spice was there. Will definitely try again because maybe we visited on a off day.
google avatar

M R.

Yelp
First time...So I went to get my jerk fix. Usually I don't because being from the Caribbean and married to a Jamaican, I always say man I should have just gone to Peppas or something. From the poorly cleaned chicken to the woppa size of the leg I was disappointed. The rice and peas tasted great and oxtail but the jerk chicken bland and not marinated - more like roast chicken. Gotta do better. South of Florida we vinegar, lime and salt our chicken... minus 3 stars for being lazy on the details. You have been open a while so maintain high standards. Otherwise, push forward! Will try again in a year time.
google avatar

Charles K.

Yelp
The Jerk Chicken Burrito here is definitely worth the hype. Tbh the chicken isnt as spicy as I would like, it being jerk chicken and all, but I get that the crowd they are serving doesn't necessarily have the palate for the spice level of Jamaican cuisine. That being said the burrito really hit it out of the park on incorporating Jamaican flavors in a unconventional way. Its a knife and fork kind of burrito, big and wide filled with chicken, rice and peas, cabbage slaw, wrapped in a roti and drizzled with a somewhat spicy jerk sauce and a mild aioli/mayo. It took a bit longer that I would have liked to get the food (10 mins) but it was quite delicious.
google avatar

Kris P.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this Caribbean unicorn while shopping with my family! I told them to "Leave me...just leave me" I ordered myself the jerk chicken and sat at a table alone and devoured this food! The chicken was packed with flavors! The service was awesome- a really friendly staff that made suggestions and wanted me to enjoy my food more than I did lol! Portions were decent as well! I'll definitely be back!

Adjovi C.

Yelp
Why do i have to know your having a bad day ? ... i made an order and the woman's face was very unpleasant.. i felt like i should've never ordered yesterday . I asked for extra sauce and i felt like i was asking her for a bag of blood . Everything was Likkle .. Likkle sauce Likkle attitude NEVER AGAIN. Here's the food

Farrah B.

Yelp
My bf tried the jerk chicken with rice and peas (oxtail gravy). The prices were competive with most of the Caribbean places on the area ($10.99). He said it was really tasty and the portion size is perfect (the container is deceiving). He's a fairly big dude so I take his word. The smell was arresting me, so I tasted the chicken. Juicy, smoky and tasty. I was impressed that it had the signature outdoor jerk flavor that is synonymous with the dish. He said everything reminded him of home with the taste of the food and the vibes/music in the corner by the stall (yes, Jamaican). We will be back to try some of the other items like the patties, oxtails and of course Bigga soda when they get more flavors.
google avatar

Irene L.

Yelp
The jerk chicken here is on point. Not as good as exquisite in east Flatbush. The jerk chicken needs more jerk sauce but the chicken is juicy and has good flavor. The rice and beans that comes with the entrees is good as well as the cole slaw. Service was ok. Got my food very quickly. Need to try the beef patty next.

Yelp
Jamaican oxtails with rice and peas is hands-down one of my favorite meals ever. As my second to last meal in NYC, I was delighted to be able to scoop this up at Dekalb Market. There's even a Yelp 15% off with your first check-in. My favorite places to get oxtails with rice and peas is The Islands, where it's always incredibly tender and comes in a huge portion that serves 2 easily. Of course, I had to get this. + Jamaican oxtails with rice and peas - 3/5 - The rice and peas were great, and the flavor of the oxtails was there, but it was absolutely not tender at all. Another review mentions that it was fall-off-the-bone tender, which is exactly what I was expecting and have always had. My Jamaican roommate even cooked this with me and it was perfect, so I was surprised to have a lot of difficulty extracting the meat from the bone. It tasted great, but the meat was quite tough, as if it hadn't been braised long enough. I'm willing to give it a second chance; maybe it wasn't tender because I went when it just opened and they're better around lunch time. After all, someone else did have it as it was meant to be.

Yelp
This Caribbean spot is a nice addition to the food hall. I ordered the curry chicken roti and it had good flavor. It isn't the best I've had but it's still good, especially since there aren't that many options in the area.

Yelp
Really great jerk! Nice staff and in a super cool marketplace right next door to the craft beer spot!

Yelp
One of the many gems in Dekalb Food Hall, this Caribbean eatery is a must! It has all the no-frills 'classic' dishes that one might crave. I got the oxtail stew, with their cabbage and rice and peas. The oxtail stew was meaty and fall off the bone, cabbage (and carrots) vegetable side was nicely seasoned with a bite to the vegetable, and the rice, oh the rice. Please ask for meat gravy over the rice! I also got the chicken patty but it did not survive the photo-taking as I was famished. MUST TRY!!!

Yelp
It doesn't get better than here! The staff is always friendly and funny but can we talk about the fish jerkito burrito?! It is to die for! So dang good for years I haven't tried another thing on the menu because why mess up perfection? Perfect blends of seasoning and stuffed with unbelievable fish. No idea why this place doesn't have its own restaurant. We need more places like this downtown. Visit them ASAP if this food is your jam!
